One of my favorite places to visit. The staff at the pool Junior, Jose, and Wilien were excellent. Alfred’s workouts at the pool kept me going. Staff was amazing and service excellent! Alphosina, Maria, and Francesca took great care of us at the pool. Shutters was so good we ate there everyday thanks to Franmy, Juan, Nandia, and Jordany…they had the best service!

Hyatt Zilara is top notch!

The Hyatt Zilara is a top notch property! Not only is it beautiful, it’s clean, the service is wonderful, and the food & drinks are high quality. We stayed in the club level. Jose at the club pool bar made amazing drinks! Junior was so attentive in getting us set up at the pool and making sure we had proper towels and umbrella shade…and then add in Alfosina and her wonderful poolside service! We had breakfast every morning at Shutters and Juan & Jordanny made that experience one of a kind! We lounged a lot, but also had fun with poolside activities that Alfred made interesting! One more thing, the spa is an experience you shouldn’t miss! If you’re thinking about booking a trip, do it!

Fifth Time Visit - Still Five Stars!!!

Returned one week ago from our fifth visit to Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana. It is our favorite resort in Punta Cana and it did not disappoint. We had requested the wonderful Larissa as our butler once again and she met us in the Bongos Club Lounge. It was like being met by an old friend. She was so helpful during our stay; checking in on us every day and doing everything she could to make our stay memorable, including champagne and cake for our anniversary, getting cabanas for us, and arranging a late checkout.

Speaking of Bongos – a special shout out and thank you to Gleny, who helped me extend our stay for a week. Gleny helped me reach the local Jet Blue office to change my flight and also managed to get me a cheaper price for the extra five days. The Club Lounge is a great place to get a quick bite or drink, or for an air-conditioned rest during the day.

Bongos is a few steps down from Deja Brew Coffee Lounge, where you can get your favorite sandwich, pastry, latte or ice cream. Thanks to Nicauris and Bacilia, who made some delicious Frappuccinos and arranged a sandwich box for me to take for my plane trip home. I had a late flight and really appreciated not having to eat airport food.

We stayed in a Club Master Suite Room in Building 6, which was absolutely beautiful. We especially liked the location, as it was very close to the entrance to the covered walkways that lead to the restaurants and Bongos (it rained briefly a couple of nights), and is a quick walk to the Club Pool (we could wave to the bartenders from our balcony).

The Master Suite has a large bedroom with lots of storage space; huge bathroom with double sinks and soaking tub; and a huge shower. Love the fact that there are two TVs and a nice sitting area; and the view from the balcony is spectacular. We ordered room service a few times. Delicious salmon and burgers for dinner; and a romantic breakfast – fresh fruit, champagne, rolls, etc. Really great service from Jhoenfry and Juan.

One of the benefits of Club is the Club Pool, which is quiet and has great service. It’s the first place we visited after checking in, as our room was not quite ready. When we arrived at the pool area, we were just in time for a drink in a fresh coconut. As soon as we walked towards the bar area, we got a huge hello from Wilen, who remembered us from our last visit. He even remembered the area we prefer to sit in, and he made sure each day that we were comfortable.

It was so good seeing the usual crew -- Roberto, Miguel, Junior, Jose, Juan B (love his special drink!), and the lovely Alfosina, Maira and Francisca, who couldn’t do enough to make sure our vacation was special. Our cabana came with a bottle of champagne and a picnic basket. We stayed at the pool area most days – ordering pizza from Prontos. I think that one of the nicest things about the club pool is that you tend to see the same people every day and make new friends at the swim up bar.

Meals at Zilara are outstanding. Breakfast at The Pier is the best I’ve had anywhere in my travels. Kudos to Anthony, who turns Eggs Benedict into an art form, and our waiters, who remembered I like my coffee with mucho leche! What I love about this buffet is that everything is served to you from behind glass. We had breakfast at Shutters a couple of times – it is very relaxing to eat facing the ocean and Raimy took good care of us. And we tried Chinola over at Ziva, which was also delicious and healthy. As it was off season, The Pier was undergoing some renovations for a few days, so we visited the Mercado buffet at Ziva a few times, including Seafood Night, which was delicious.

Restaurants – Our favorite restaurant is Brando’s – we ate there twice. Adonail took very good care of us. Highly recommend the Fois Gras Miscuit (ask for two pieces), the Duck Magret, and the Beef Tenderloin. My boyfriend’s favorite is the Mongolian Grill at Tempest Table (Ziva side) where you choose your own meats/seafood/vegetables/pastas and watch them cook it with your favorite sauce on a giant open flame grill.
At Journey’s Indian restaurant, I highly recommend the Butter Chicken and the garlic and butter naan! Felix, the Director of Food & Beverage, had the chef (who is from India) prepare us a tasting menu. We felt very honored to be able to try small portions of foods we would not ordinarily have ordered. Everything was delicious.

Our final dinner was at Noodle and Thread (Ziva). Our waiter was Yasser, who really gave us exceptionally attentive service. When he heard it was our last night, he had Jesus Vazquez come over and prepare a special pasta dish in a large wheel of cheese. It was delicious, and I hardly had room for my lasagna entrée, which I look forward to on every visit.

The Lazy River in the Water Park is always a must for us; and we walked on the beach a few times, stopping to play a few games of cornhole. The ocean was not swimmable, unfortunately, and although they have a large net a few hundred yards out, it wasn’t enough to keep out the sargassum. Hopefully it will be better when we return in December. The animation team at Zilara (Dio, Amato and Miguel) was everywhere – I am afraid we are not great participators, but they did keep trying! They were loads of fun to talk and joke with every day. I did go to arts and crafts a few times, making a cute little figurine and small handbag. I missed make-your-own hat day, but Manuel gave one to me the day before I left.

All in all, Zilara is outstanding and in my opinion, the finest resort in Punta Cana we have visited. The security of a gated community, and its 20-minute proximity to the airport makes it even more deserving of the #1 TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice award it won this year. Its pricing, however, is not for the faint hearted, but it is really unmatched in service and ambience. December can’t come soon enough!

Amazing place to stay!!!!

My review will follow as most others. This was our first time traveling out of the country or doing anything all inclusive. To say that the people at Hyatt Zilara exceeded any expectation we had is a massive understatement! This place is fantastic. The rooms, pools, view, everything was great. The employees are what truly set it apart though!! All are welcoming and ready to assist in any way they can, but a few made us feel like family. Juan, Deyinira, Ignacio, and Marco really made this experience something magical for us. Luis was our butler for the stay and he was super helpful and attentive. He checked in with us in person everyday, and did a fantastic job helping our stay go smoothly. The drinks are all on point!! The activities were fun. We played bingo one night and hot potato in the main pool. There were a lot of other things to do we just didnt. I came with low expectations on the food from things I've read about all inclusives. It was definitely a hit or a miss depending on what we got. The buffets were by far our favorite place to eat. They have so many options and you can order things cooked fresh for you too. I've been back home for about 5 days and can't quit telling people about our trip! We're planning our next stay in the spring sometime, and I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!

The best experience ever!

All I gotta say is wow! The property is gorgeous and well kept. The food is diverse and quite good. You build relationships with the staff because the resort offers many activities, games, and water exercises. Alfred is such a joy and enhanced our experience greatly. Manuel was a lot of fun during the evening shows as well. There is a focus on health, fun, and your privacy. The professionalism, attention to detail, and overall service provided was incredible.

Excellent Food, good drinks and friendly staff

Overall was a great experience. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly and helpful, food was excellent. Anthony at the Pier made us eggs every morning and a few days in he would already be cracking eggs as we walked over. Brandos was delicious, we ended up eating there 3 times! Waves was great for both lunch and dinner, and don't sleep on the beef ribs at Noodles & Thread, even the pizza was good!

The best hotel All Inclusive

The Hyatt is the best all-inclusive hotel. Excellence is the name that best describes it, for the food, hotel facilities, the attention, the details, the friendliness of the staff, and everything you need to have the best vacation of your life. My husband is Cuban and they prepared special dinner for him and also, they did for me something special….wao!!. The price is worth it, and I definitely want to return. Thank you, Hyatt.

Top Tier Resort

Never a bad time at the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana. If you come here and dont have a good time - I don't think you could ever be happy!
This is our 3rd time in 5 years. We have been to a handful of other AI's (another in Punta Cana, 2 in Cancun, and in Jamaica) and this is by far superior! And I am a picky snob when it comes to resorts.

Not crowded, amazing pool, delicious food and so much to do.
If you are looking for a night club scene, maybe look elsewhere. Nights are quiet, but beautiful.

Beach can have some seaweed, but if you wade out a little bit, it's beautiful. Take advantage of the free water sports too!

Just book it.

A Perfect Paradise, we had an unforgettable Stay at Hyatt Zilara Dominican Republic!

From the moment we arrived, our experience at Hyatt Zilara Dominican Republic was nothing short of spectacular! Jesus welcomed us warmly at check-in, setting the tone for an unforgettable vacation. Our butlers, Junior and Lois, went above and beyond every single day, whether it was reserving the perfect poolside spot or anticipating our every need with a genuine smile.

At the pool, the energy was incredible thanks to the amazing bartenders, Alfoncina, Maria, and Jose who kept the drinks flowing and the good vibes alive. Ignacio, the talented mixologist, crafted the most creative and delicious cocktails we’ve ever had, while Georges at the bar always made us feel like old friends. Carlos, the barista expert, started our mornings right with his perfect cappuccinos and warm personality.

Our room was always spotless thanks to Magalis, our wonderful housekeeper, who added thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. At the restaurants, Yamilett, the hostess manager, ensured we always had the best tables and service. Edgar Garza was ever-present, checking in to make sure everything about our stay exceeded expectations.

A special shoutout to Crystal and Catherine, the incredible masseuses at the spa their massages were pure bliss and left us feeling completely renewed.

Every member of the team radiated warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. Hyatt Zilara Dominican Republic is truly a slice of paradise, but it’s the people who make it extraordinary. We can’t wait to come back!

We stayed at Hyatt Zilara for our honeymoon (5 days, 4 nights) and absolutely loved every minute. The resort is beautiful and incredibly well maintained — from the stunning pool area to the relaxing spa, everything exceeded our expectations.

Housekeeping was consistently efficient, and every restaurant we tried was excellent. There were plenty of gluten-free options, which was a big plus for me. A special shoutout to Juan at Moments, who made me the best fresh margarita of the trip — such great service and attention to detail!

We left feeling so relaxed and cared for. Highly recommend Hyatt Zilara for anyone looking for a romantic and rejuvenating getaway.

Outstanding customer service

I have not had the pleasure of enjoying Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana yet. We had made a reservation to visit but tropical storm Melissa thwarted our best laid plans. I want to thank Ermis Perozo for his kindness and professionalism in helping us get our reservation changed. He truly exemplifies hospitality in how he interacts with potential guests. We have set a new date to visit and look forward to enjoying all that the resort has to offer. I also wanted to mention that a customer service representative named Walter was also very courteous and patient as we worked with Ermis on this matter. I will be a loyal Hyatt member for life based on how this was handled.

An absolute delight in Cap Cana - Fun, Relaxation, and Celiac Safe.

I don’t always review resorts, but this one certainly deserves a lot of praise. I travel both for work and for leisure, and it’s often hard to tell what to make of numerical reviews which just say “5 star, loved it” or “1 star, it rained the whole time” and get a sense of what it’s like to stay at a place. Is this reviewed on their first vacation, and therefore charmed by everything? Are they impossibly snobbish and therefore displeased with everything? Is their idea of “gourmet” a poolside hot dog? So I’ll endeavor to provide the answers I would hope to find in a review.

About Us: For a start, we live in New York City, which means we get exposed to a lot of food and cocktail culture, from the needlessly showy to the barebones-but-amazing street food. We’ve also stayed at a number of resorts around the Caribbean, including branding under Zilara, Secrets, Sandals, Unico, and others. I think this makes for a pretty well-calibrated reviewer, but you be the judge.

I split my time between Hyatt properties (currently Globalist) and Marriott properties (currently Platinum)

My wife also has Celiac disease. I can’t tell you how challenging it can be to find data from travelers who share this affliction. It’s not a gluten-free preference, and it doesn’t allow for an occasional “cheat” item - it’s a serious condition where even cross-contamination can result in multi-day symptoms. It makes travelling hard for us, so I’ll cut right to the chase and say that this place treated us wonderfully, both in kindness and in safety. More on this in the dining section below, but we can wholeheartedly endorse the allergy handling here. Surprise highlights included GF buns/bread generally available, GF pizza options, and even GF beer!

About this trip: We booked an 8-night trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had great experiences at the zilara cancun, and the Secrets cap cana nearby, and were eager to try this property. We booked a basic room, however I inquired about paid upgrades in advance of our arrival, and was offered an oceanview master suite at a very reasonable price. The room comes with a lovely soaking tub in the bathroom, and a jetted tub on the balcony, in addition to a separate dining area - I was sold.

I’ll also note that while I was delighted by this trip, and it was overall very smooth and I would happily return, it was not flawless. I think you can often tell more about the quality of a place when there are mishaps based on how those issues are handled, than when nothing goes wrong. When small issues arose, the staff was extremely responsive and eager to make things right. Lesser resorts might try and dismiss, minimize, or suppress guest complaints. Here, the staff really took ownership of things, and responded kindly and even generously, because making things right genuinely mattered to them - that’s a very high caliber of service, and speaks to good hiring, good training, and good morale.

Arrival: We were greeted immediately as we pulled up, and our bags handled as we were ushered over to the club lounge for check-in. On the walk over, we were approached by someone offering us a discount on activities, or The Blind Butcher. Seasoned travelers will likely know this involves sitting through a “vacation club” or similar seminar, and we’re absolutely not interested. I do wish the property would ensure these folks don’t use misleading messaging, like “we’re running a promotion this week only” to try and entice people - it’s just dishonest.

In the club lounge we met our terrific butler Adrian, who called himself “The Alfred to your Batman” when we asked what services he could provide for us. Having stayed in a number of resorts, many with butler service, I need to heap praise on Adrian for being responsive when we needed him, and really graceful in his attentiveness otherwise, never pushy or intrusive. If you’ve ever had a butler ping you 3x/day just to check in, or ask you at 8am where you’d like to have dinner, especially when you’re just trying to be on a schedule-free vacation from your busy career, you can appreciate how artful truly great resort butler service ought to be, and Adrian absolutely rocked it.

Also while at the club lounge, we met Sebastian who runs the food and beverage program. As a routine matter, I will often email hotels in advance and ask about their preparedness for celiac, particularly given the sensitivity to cross-contamination. Sebastian had responded with a lot of comforting detail to my email, and came to meet us at check-in. He reiterated from his email that allergy handling was taken seriously, and that we would be asked at every seating if there were food sensitivities, and that if so the manager would look in on the guest and their order. We received this treatment at each and every sit-down meal. Sebastian also advised us on navigating things like the buffet, which don’t have the same labeling as restaurant menus. Thank you Sebastian!

Our room was in excellent condition, over in Building 5. From the balcony, looking left we had an ocean view past some dense trees and landscaping. Looking straight ahead, we saw the swim up suites on the ground level, or the rooftop of the Waves restaurant. I suppose we could have gone for ocean FRONT rather than ocean VIEW to have a full, all-encompassing beach outside our window, but we were very happy with it. The website photos do the room justice - a well-angled TV in the sleeping area, separate living/dining area, a well-furnished balcony, plus an extra half bathroom right near the entrance. Two ceiling fans (one in the bedroom, one in the living area) plus dividing doors made it very easy to keep the temperature in the sub-arctic range where we often like it.

Pools: We spent most of our time in the club pool. Occupancy was very low when we arrived (though a large corporate group, or possibly several? arrived toward the tail end of our trip). Mere moments after stepping into the pool area, the attendant Wilin came to greet us, checked our room number, and swiftly set up a couple of chairs and a table with towels, and pillows. He even set up the adjacent wet chairs (the ones which are slightly submerged) for us as well! He took great care of us every single day in a spot we liked - it’s a great vibe to feel like you have an effortless “regular” spot when on vacation.

Water temp was pretty warm during our stay (sept), but if ever we felt like a contrast, a large jacuzzi sub sits adjacent for a little change of pace.
Running the swim-up bar was Roberto, who both makes a great cocktail, and has been known to sing a little bit when the mood strikes him.

We didn’t spend much time by the main pool, but it has similar bar facilities, and seemed to be a little more animated with louder music, more activities, and a generally more upbeat party vibe - something for everyone.

Food and Drink:

While we didn’t eat absolutely everywhere, we did make the rounds over our long stay. Our favorites at a few locations:

Lobby Coffee Bar - a morning almond frap became a regular thing for us. This can be a crowded spot during peak rushes, but the staff works diligently to get orders out quickly

Lobby Bar - Lots of seating, though I took most of my drinks here to go. The old fashioneds were quite to my liking (not too sweet).

Waves - We probably ate here more than any other. For lunch we were all about the shrimp cocktail and the al pastor tacos. For dinner we loved the skirt steak, tenderloin, and even enjoyed an indulgent tomahawk one night.

Special mention here for Patricio, the restaurant manager. He kindly looked after us regarding allergies (gluten), and made us feel very much at home.

Shutters Beachside - Only came here for lunch, but it’s a great spot to get your fill of fresh fish in a ceviche or tiradito (sashimi/crudo-like) format.

Journeys Indian - We weren’t sure what to make of the train car aesthetic before arriving, but in person we found it really quite charming! This is such a nice change of pace from the typical cuisine options at resorts. We enjoyed the curry chicken, butter chicken, masala, and lamb rogan josh. I also enjoyed the naan (definitely not GF, however), and we both enjoyed kheer as a dessert option.

Brandos - The decor is charmingly quirky, however the food and service truly seems a cut above. There are subtle differences in serving and glassware which add a premium feel, and that’s matched by a quality and precision in the food. Both soups were delicious, as was the salmon, mahi mahi, and pork belly. It's really hard to go wrong here.

Special thanks to Demetrio, who took lovely care of us on both nights where we had dinner here.

Noodle & Thread - Often when we travel, it’s the Italian restaurants that end up being the most challenging when it comes to navigating celiac/gluten issues, however this was a remarkable exception! Gluten-free bread was available for us from the start, the carpaccio was delightful, as was the risotto, and GF pasta was available as well. The sleeper hit was the tomato soup!

Special thanks to Andredis who helped take care of us here!

Buffet: Always nice to have such a variety of options at mealtime, however the standout for us was definitely the arepas at lunchtime, which seemed to be available as an occasional hot food station (We saw this twice during our stay).

Prestos:Who doesn’t love poolside lunch/snacks? That Gluten Free pizza was available was a really wonderful surprise for us. Protip if ordering the GF pizza - the crust can be on the thicker side, so consider asking for a really well-loaded set of cheese and toppings to help keep the ratios right.

Club Bar: This is where we first learned GF beers were available, after spotting them in the refrigerator case. The Estrella is a gluten-removed beer, however it proved safe for us, despite typically being extremely sensitive to even trace gluten. Here you’ll also find a slightly elevated selection of liquor, so drop by for a nice sipping rum, or a whiskey.

Special thanks to Antonia who kept us well-served and smiling at the bar, as well as Ignacio who brings an unmistakable enthusiasm for cocktails with him.

The one-eyed cat - a fun decor with tasty cocktails, and entertaining presentations (smoke, bubbles, and more). The acoustics can get pretty loud in here though, so if you’re expecting a muted cocktail lounge vibe, your results may vary depending on the time of evening, or the night’s crowd.

Room Service: Another shocking success. I’m usually pessimistic about room service, and I’ve grown accustomed to maddeningly slow service, forgotten items, or missed instructions. Even at other quality resorts where the dining program runs very smoothly, this is often where things fall down. So when I say that in-room dining was swift, accurate, and tasty, you can believe that left a great impression. We ate breakfast in our room most days, allowing us to have a lazy AM start, and make the most of our upgraded room. Allergy handling for room service was also flawless.

The Blind Butcher:

This is a wild departure from the other restaurants on the property. Hidden behind the fun “butcher counter” entryway is a speakeasy-style restaurant, with lots of big, comfy booth seating. While the darkly lit appearance might lead you to expect a dining atmosphere of hushed intimacy, there’s quite a lot of boisterous entertainment. What seemed like every 10 minutes or so, a group of spirited performers would emerge into the restaurant’s few open spaces and put on lively dance and musical performances, showcasing an array of styles. They knew how to navigate the tight spaces well, and were enthusiastic at every turn. Keep in mind, this lively environment means conversations will be interrupted regularly, so set expectations accordingly - the show is not optional, but it is well-integrated into the dining experience.

The food here, I have to say, was excellent. We were a little wary based on trouble reviews from many months prior, but it appears whatever issues prompted those low ratings have been thoroughly resolved. The portions? MASSIVE - bring a hearty appetite! In contrast to Brandos where we found the high level of precision in the kitchen to be paired with moderate portions designed to let you order and enjoy several items, the blind butcher is decidedly a feast from start to finish.

Gluten/Celiac care was again, flawless. We were told the seating included 4 appetizers for the two of us (the earth and air sections, plus some specials). Appetizers which serve 2, such as the raw bar, would of course count for two. Then of course an entree each. Be mindful of the portions though - we enjoyed our appetizers so much that we were far fuller than we’d meant to be when our mains came out. All in all this was a fantastic experience, but it’s going to be very subjective for guests whether the pricetag is worth the event, particularly when you’ve got so many great options included, and even other less-expensive buy-up options, such as the tomahawk for two at Waves

Spa:

We went several times over the course of our trip, however once we met Ynes and discovered how talented she is, she became a highlight for us. Besides the treatment, the spa itself has a lovely cave aesthetic, and the pre-treatment offerings include a salt room, sauna, steam room, hot and cold plunges, and hydromassage.

Conclusion:

All in all, we had a brilliant trip here, and we’re already planning a return. Thank you again to all the staff mentioned here, and happy vacationing to all readers!

Brandos 5 star food & service!!

We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Danger at Brandos at Zilara Cap Cana, and he was amazing from start to finish! He was so kind, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful—it honestly felt like he was both serving and cooking the meal with how much care he put into everything. The service was so excellent that we actually came back a second time during our trip just because of him—and once again, he didn’t disappoint. Servers like Danger are rare, and he made both meals truly memorable. Food was also incredible!!!

Great service, personable, lots of options

We visited Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana for a few hours for a site inspection for our upcoming wedding, and we were so impressed!

We started with lunch — I had the al pastor tacos and my fiancé ordered a burger. Both were delicious, and the service was great. Everyone we interacted with spoke excellent English, which made communication so smooth.

Our assigned representative, Genesis, was amazing. She patiently guided us through every wedding venue location and gave us a full tour of both a standard room and the master suite. She was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and answered every question we had. Her professionalism and warmth really stood out!

The beach, though man-made, was absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The resort itself is stunning — every restaurant we saw had such thoughtful detail and decor. We also loved that there’s a clear distinction between the adults-only (Zilara) and family (Ziva) sections, giving guests the best of both worlds.

A huge plus for us was learning that the resort even offers babysitting services for $25/hour, which is perfect for families traveling for weddings or vacations. There’s also a great selection of activities throughout the day, so there’s always something to do for every age group.

Overall, our short visit left a big impression — Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is elegant, well-run, and full of charm. We’re even more excited to consider it for our destination wedding!
