Wonderful staff, good food variety, staff always trying to help you in some way even in ways you didn’t know you needed

The best experience I’ve ever had on an all inclusive, I will never be able to travel the same way again. This resort exceeded my expectations and the bar is set so high now.

We love this place.

We love this resort. The property is amazing and the service is outstanding. Folks like Miguel, Ramon, Juan Carlos, Eddy Murphy, and our butler Christian made our trip excellente! Also, we love the food here. Our favorite restaurants were Bordeaux and Oceana for dinner and the Seaside Grill and Market Cafe for breakfast and lunch. Not everything is perfect but you'll usually find plenty of great dishes. We tend to enjoy the pool more and the pools here are beautiful and fun. The pool service is great and you can enjoy lots of great cocktails. We also went to the spa one day and enjoyed our hydrotherapy session and 50 minute relaxing massages. They were great. Only good things to say about our favorite resort so far.

Nice Time

After reading all the reviews, I expected this resort to be among the best. It was definitely enjoyable, but it doesn’t quite compare to the Iberostar chain.

If you enjoy having someone available at your service at all times, this is the perfect resort for you. Personally, I wish there had been an option to decline the butler service. We’re very simple people and prefer to be left on our own. Our butler was wonderful, but I would have been happier without one.

The food was excellent, but the beach was unfortunately filled with sargassum, so we couldn’t really enjoy it. Of course, that’s not the resort’s fault. Finding a spot at the pool was challenging since people reserve loungers early, and with the beach being unusable, most guests stayed by the pool. It became a bit of a daily struggle.

I also wasn’t a fan of the signs asking guests not to pet the cats. That was a big disappointment for me since I love animals and can’t resist showing them some affection.

Secrets was awesome!

We had never been to the Dominican Republic and after comparing different places and speaking to someone who had been to Secrets we picked Secrets. It did not disappoint. We used Costco Travel and I did make a note that it was our anniversary and that I would like two beds. Check in was a long process for us. We did upgrade to building 5 (we did negotiate the price) and had a room on the 5Th floor - not preferred. We arrived around 2:45 pm so I figured we should be good to get into our room. Not true ~ yes we upgraded but that room wasn’t ready until almost 4. We went and got some lunch at the Market Cafe. Our room did have a beautiful view. The Market Cafe is their buffet and is open for breakfast and lunch and sometimes they use this spot to have BBQ. For breakfast they have two omelet stations; crepes made to order and a juice bar. The selection of food is extensive.
We ate at El Patio (Mexican); Portofino (Italian - husband LOVED the lasagna); and the Seaside Grill. There is a grassy spot by the main pool where they would set up different themed meals or tastings. One night was wine and chocolate. They also did an Italian (didn’t try it) and Mexican. We did eat on Mexican night and it was good. Not the best but good. They also have entertainment and themed meals on the beach every night - no reservations needed just show up. Coco Cafe is open 24 hours and I tried many of the drinks. All of them were very good.
The main pool is very nice. Lots of volleyball being played. Don’t be afraid to reach out to one of the “Pool guys” (usually by the towel stands) to help you find a spot. I saw them bringing out more umbrellas to put in spots when people arrived late in the day. The drink service is top notch.
The beach is beautiful. Yes there was sargassum. We love to swim in the ocean. Yes the water is warm and yes I knew there was sargassum but the extent that it is in the ocean was a learning experience for us. That being said we will not be going back to the DR because I can lay by a pool anywhere.
I’m pretty sure everyone gets a butler. Ours was Jordan. He was great. Everyday he would send a text with that days events. It was very helpful. Especially for the drink of the day! Jordan had our room decorated on our anniversary. Nice touch. Also shout out to Jeffrey at Amstar. Great guy and we didn’t even book an excursion. We did use the free transport to some shops. There is a cigar making, jewelry store, rum tasting bar, souvenir shop, chocolate and coffee. It is a two hour max excursion.
I will say everyone and I mean every person we saw, passed by etc was always cheerful and greeted you. It is a beautiful resort.

Perfection…

This place is amazing.. Grounds, Food and Drink are 10/10. Pool/Beach Entertainment team is a blast. Mini, La Diva & IceCube are the best and go out of their way to make sure everyone has the best time. They are one of the reasons we will continue to come back. Angelo was our concierge both times and he treats us like family and also is one of the reasons we will continue to come back. Bartenders are 10/10, Alvaro, Sandy, David and Judti always take care of you and were like our best friends for the week.

Can’t say enough good things. We brought 6 other friends this time and will bring more next time!!

Cheers to the Entertainment Team!!!!!!

Overall a great experience!! Clean hotel, pool and beach! Delicious delicacies!! The entertainment team!!!! OMG!! Ice Cube, La Diva, Kelly, Lady No Gaga, Rihanna...they were so friendly and the activities and shows they had organized were so exciting. I had a great time and will definitely miss them.

Could be so much better…

Room was lovely and bed was so comfy. The preferred pool staff go above and beyond, genuinely made the trip! We will miss you Maria and Esperanza! Beach was beautiful and the seaweed cleared half way through our stay.

Drinks were always good, from both the preferred pool, preferred lounge and lobby bar. We are very glad we did preferred purely for the peace and quiet, as the main pool was always loud.

The preferred pool was nice but on the small side. We were always up early and by the pool before 8:30. Some people were reserving loungers and we never saw anyone’s stuff taken away. Much more peaceful the majority of the time. Loved the shared floating cocktail trays!

Some negatives…

Not good for vegetarians - twice served things containing meat or fish despite checking they did not contain meat or something from a vegetarian menu which then arrived with prawns on top. There is very little choice for vegetarians/vegans unfortunately, with one meal being a microwaved risotto (was ready so fast, it wasn’t made fresh) and it was genuinely awful.
Best veggie meals were the preferred breakfasts and himitsu, the vegetarian sushi was amazing!
Lots of people have said it’s good for allergies but I would be worried after my experience.

We ordered room service twice, once when we first arrived and were exhausted. It took 2 hours to arrive by which time we really weren’t hungry. Our butler did send an apology bottle of champagne. The 2nd time when my partner was ill so we didn’t go out to eat. I ordered a vegan sandwich but asked to add mozzarella, unfortunately it came with Parmesan on (which is not vegetarian) so I just had the chips. It was a real shame as we’ve never ordered room service in a hotel before but loved the idea of the secret box. Plates always looked a bit unclean/greasy.

Husband had some kind of food poisoning on our 2nd to last day, potentially from the barefoot grill.

Rosewater was being renovated during our stay which we weren’t informed of until we got there, which was frustrating. BBQ’s or paella was served around the preferred pool but again wasn’t great for vegetarians.

Perfect Mix of Relaxation, Fun, and Incredible Views!

We recently stayed at the beautiful Secrets Cap Cana resort for a wedding, and it truly had something for everyone! My husband and I loved how easy it was to unwind on the peaceful beach, but there were also plenty of fun activities like Water Zumba and games when we wanted to be more active.

The dining options were fantastic—each restaurant offered exceptional food and great variety, so every meal felt special. Our room had breathtaking views of both the pool and the ocean, and the scenery around the resort was simply stunning.

What really made our stay stand out was the terrific staff. From the friendly front desk team who made check-in seamless, to the attentive waitstaff, and even those who helped us plan our excursions—everyone went above and beyond to make our trip memorable.

Whether you’re looking to relax, enjoy great food, or take part in fun activities, this resort is the perfect getaway. We highly recommend!

So much to write about this hotel, I could go into details about every aspect of it but I will keep it short and highlight what mattered the most for us.
The hotel itself has a very nice layout, the rooms are comfortable, quiet and clean. Although we are not the ones to join all the entertainment the hotel has to offer, it is very obvious how hard they try to please and accommodate everyone. Big shout out to Beyonce, never tired of trying to gather people to join the activities. we didn't pay for the preferred club and we were glad we didn't. We saw lots of people from the club that were actually in the main pool every day and also having breakfast at the main restaurant daily.
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and they get it really right. The staff would go above and beyond to please you and see you happy. In special Milady, Damaris, Yesika and Laura will be forever in our thoughts and hearts. They made a massive difference in our holidays making us feel welcome and at home.We truly miss them.
The coffee shop being 24 hours is mind blowing but the most amazing aspect of it is (again) the staff. Every morning, at 6, Luis would welcome me with a cafe com leche and a Spanish lessons. What a guy! Te estranho amigo!
All the restaurants are great, they are very accomodating and again, no complaints about any food or menu. It was always a delight to get to a restaurant and see Sally at the reception. Another great hotel asset.
The infinity pool is really nice, the couple that sings in the afternoon is really talented and the repertoire is just perfect. But Patricia was the one that made the difference. She was so kind and looked after us so well. When she had her days off or was moved to the beach we honestly missed her.
Our concierge Ramon also looked after us so well, I believe we were lucky to have the best!
To finalize, I have to say that what makes a party great is the people in it. We've never stayed in a hotel were all the staff were so positive, kind and genuinely happy. I hope to see you again soon. They all deserve a pay raise for the amazing job they do and, the ones I mention here, deserve a promotion too! I hope to come back very soon. Mr. & Mrs Jones

Picturesque hotel, bad food poisoning

The hotel is lovely and the grounds well looked after. Very picturesque. Unfortunately on day 5 of our 10 day trip my partner became ill with diarrhoea vomiting and fever and then 2 days later the same happened for me. Both after we had eaten fish.

50th Birthday Trip with Friends in Mid Oct 2025

This trip was a year in the making, planned with my friends to celebrate my 50th birthday — and it was absolutely worth the wait! I began working with Joshua Biechy, an Inclusive Collection Travel Specialist, back in August 2024. Joshua was incredible in helping me (and at the time, 18 friends) get the best deal and the exact rooms I wanted.

I was very specific about booking all of the B12 swim-out suites, and to make that happen, two other couples chose oceanfront swim-out suites, giving us a total of six. That setup secured what I really wanted — our own private pool area — and it was perfect!

The rooms were stunning, spacious, and comfortable. Even though we couldn’t fully enjoy the ocean during our stay, it didn’t matter — we had an amazing time. Our butler, Ricardo, was exceptional. He was attentive, friendly, and handled all of our reservations and requests with ease.

The beach wait staff, especially Stephanie, went above and beyond — trekking through the bushes just to make sure we were taken care of! The grounds were immaculate, the beach was pristine, and truly, I couldn’t find a single fault with the resort.

If you’re looking for a luxurious, all-inclusive getaway, I highly recommend Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa. It’s pure paradise and an experience I’ll never forget!

It was good overall

unforgettable experience in cap cana

My husband and I recently stayed at Secrets Cap Cana with some friends, and we can honestly say it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Every single staff member we encountered was polite, professional, and incredibly hospitable. They went above and beyond to make sure our every need was taken care of — from laundry service and detailed daily itineraries of resort activities to organizing smooth rides to and from the airport.

A special shoutout goes to Scoobie Doo and Ice Cube from the entertainment team! They were truly the life of the beach — full of energy, fun, and kindness. We had an absolute blast playing beach volleyball with them and other guests. Whether the games were friendly or competitive, they made sure everyone was having a great time. One of our favorite moments was the staff vs. guests volleyball match — it was competitive, exciting, and though the guests didn’t quite take the win, it was such a memorable experience!

Another highlight of our trip was the free paddleboarding, where my husband and I even had the chance to see sea turtles swimming in their natural habitat — such a magical moment!

We wholeheartedly recommend Secrets Cap Cana to anyone looking for a relaxing, fun, and luxurious getaway. The resort was accommodating in every way, and we can’t wait to return

Wonderful birthday celebration few suggestions

An amazing experience

The resort and service was outstanding and couldn’t have hoped for a better experience.
We were overwhelmed with the quality, choice and high standards of food and drink on offer at the restaurants, we have never experienced this anywhere else. The room service was excellent and plenty of different menu options.
Luis or concierge was amazing, he visited us every day to ensure all was well and promptly dealt with any requests we had. His presence and personality made us feel at home and at ease while on holiday. His daily messages were welcomed greatly and very inspiring.
Cesar and Ronald at the Barracuda bar were both warm friendly and attentive, again their friendly manner made us feel very welcome and cared for. We could not have expected such a professional and personal service and totally exceeded our expectations. These three individuals are a huge asset to the Secrets resort and spa, they all really made our holiday special and memorable. Because of the experience they provided along with the high standards and quality of the hotel, we will without doubt rebook another stay in the future. All other hotel staff at the resort were also warm and welcoming and could not have hoped for a more friendly atmosphere.

The resort lived up to the hype…

This resort has have many 10/10 reviews, I’d go along with this.
Food
Whilst you have to expect the interpretation of meals at the specialty restaurants to be a little off the mark, they certainly surpassed what was expecting.
Drinks
Whichever bar you’ve gone to for this they are consistently good
Accommodation
No complaints here, we had a preferred suite with tropical view, it was exactly that.
If you are reviewing this resort and unsure, just book it…… you won’t be disappointed!
