A proper Beach Vacay

Just returned on Sunday from CSA
Please do yourself a favor and don't look at the facebook reviews and stick to Tripadvisor-facebook reviews are very skewed and not exactly a diversity of opinions.

This was our 5th time in Jamaica, typically only staying at larger resorts. The Bahia in runaway, Iberostar in Mobay, Riu in Ochi and Royalton in Negril.

This was our first time leaving our kids and we only went for 4 days.

-The couples lounge at the airport is really lackluster and honestly you should just book a private taxi instead of their shuttle, its a nice to have but we wainted about 40 mins for it.
-It took 1hr30 to get to the resort, they offer a stop but everyone on our bus declined, we had about 10 people total on the bus all going to CSA.

-It was low season so check-in was fast. Our rooms were not ready so we went to have a bite to eat the Palms. Rooms were ready by 2ish.

Rooms
-We opted for the TV free Atrium suites. Lovely room however there is no glass on the windows, and there are a lot of windows. Its not a typical all inclusive room where its just a balcony. Theres windows everywhere. So if you open the wooden shutters the AC escapes but it gives you light, and no privacy. If you close the shutters you get AC but no light and its very dark, my only complaint was the lack of light in the rooms. Hard to even do your makeup. I also notices lots of tiny ants on the counter tops-this was handled with a call to tell them to spray the room again, and i just sprayed some off on the counters. Its very noisy, even in block 22 where we were, cats fighting people coughing, coconuts falling and the treefrogs all night. You do get use to it, and the long beach days will have you out by 10pm.

Food
-Food was really good, I would say above average from your typical resort. We had lobster soup, lamb chops, patties. So many healthy options its crazy, its very clean. You could get fish tacos (made to order) or a buddha bowl with quinoa beans and corn at the veggie bars. The Jerk chicken at the scotch bonnet beach bar sucked, and that was disappointing...but being from Toronto I know where to satisfy that need, but still unacceptable being in Jamaica! Drinks were all good! Black Label, Tanqueray, Bombay, Patron Silver, Appleton it was all good and premium. Drinks are mostly hand shaken and freshly made depending on what you order.
Two fancy restaurants-Feathers (men need pants) and Lemongrass. Lemongrass is awesome , its like Indian and Asian inspired..Butter Chicken and Pad thai lol

Beach
Speaks for itself, crystal clear. Saw tons of Starfish as walking into water, and almost everyday we saw a stingray just swim on by, for me this beach was at par with Varadero and Paradise Island on its best day ( I do still think Cuba has the nicest water). There is beach service with a red flag, but its so close to the bar that we didnt require it.

Entertainment
-There is not Michael Jackson show here! Just live music during dinner which is really nice, at the Palms Buffet...and then after its done it goes to the Piano bar...was not really for us. There is a club there where we plugged in our own music and just danced with some other people. But the Piano bar guy is great...Its just a lot of Karaoke if thats your thing..and not to Caribbean music lol. I think because of the demographic of people here and it being low season that was just the vibe. After 10pm we struggled to find something to do. There was a white party one night but wasn't busy at all.

Room service- was only there for breakfast ...they do the rooms around 12ish...and then again 6pm-9pm they come to do turn down. Mini bar was full stocked, and so was the bar selection we made online with Romance perks (you can sign up as soon as you are booked) .

We had a Catamaran cruise that was included but it was about 2.5 hours with only drinks, and we didnt want to kill a day considering we were there for only 4 days, they also gave us a free sunset photoshoot if its your anniversary we also skipped lol

We did a massage off the resort towards the margaritaville side of the beach, with a lady name Estelle...it was more of a physio session than a calm massage lol. She fixed something, I just dont know what yet lol. We paid $100 for two 60min massages and tipped $20.

Tipping is done and accepted , we just did it discreetly. There is no where at the resort nor is it said to "not tip" . So in my opinion do what works for you. Also the cats are not a hinderance at all, I am not a cat fan at all, but they didn't bother me.

But I did choose a room on the second floor to avoid them coming onto my porch.

We will be back to this resort but maybe splurge and get a beachfront second floor just to try something new. Loved the experience!

Avoid this hotel at all cost

AVOID THIS HOTEL
Currently at CSA resort and this is our 4th day.
Our experience to date has been very poor.
After a fabulous first night with 5* dining, the resort chose to close an A La carte restaurant with immediate effect due to being out of season. No prior notification by hotel or tour operator.
No substitute A La carte breakfast, instead only a very poor limited breakfast buffet & 2 x A La carte restaurants left & “Palms” which offer A La carte & buffet dining.
First night at Palms A La carte they had run out of some menu items by 20:00 and the whole menu by 21:00 with the exception of the pasta station. The 2nd night at the buffet the food ran out at 19:50pm.
So after limiting the numbers of restaurants they clearly couldn’t cope / had capacity in the other restaurants, unless you chose to dine at 18:30.
Food isnt the only issue, the beach bar had no rum for the majority of the day (which I found amazing considering Jamaica being the largest rum producer).
Drinks - offering local brands opposed to premium.
Whilst activities are very good the substandard food & drinks doesn’t qualify a 5 star let alone a 4 star.
I suggest you book elsewhere

Poor Experience @ Couples Swept Away (Please think twice ATM)

Currently at this hotel which started well given we had to rearrange to visit this hotel after TUI informed us that our first choice hotel was closed 2 weeks before we travelled.
We enjoyed our first alla carte meal which was amazing, we felt this would continue as we used all the available restaurants during our stay.
We were then informed that this restaurant was closed with immediate effect due to it being off season a numbers in the hotel were low, however the hotel suggested we would benefit from this as they could concentrate their efforts elsewhere, which if you read on it will be apparent this is not the case.
The restaurant in question also boasted an ala carte breakfast menu which was one of the reasons we settled for this resort.
The second evening we used a different restaurant only to find a number of key dishes were unavailable leaving what was a very limited choice.
We then chose to use the buffet offering, we arrived at the restaurant planning to eat at 20.00, it was quickly obvious there was an obvious lack of food available even though service was due to continue until 22.00, some replenishment of the dishes happened although not nearly enough to service the demand.
Breakfast and lunch have a fairly small selection but, although we have only been here 4 days, we have found sufficient to eat.
Most of the staff are brilliant although it appears there are some who are less invested. Last night I was asked to clear my glasses from our table by the bartender as we headed to bed. A night earlier I had to resort to waving a napkin to gain someone's attention as they appeared to be more absorbed with the entertainment than their job.
This is not a 5* resort based on the above.
On a plus side, the free trips and watersports are excellent however we have no idea if this will be changed due to their initial out of season reasoning.
Think twice guys at the moment, it isn't currently worth the 7K we have forked out for it!!

7 night stay at Couples Swept Away.

We returned to this resort having stayed here in April this year. It was a late booking with only the Atrium rooms or Garden rooms available, so we booked the Atrium room.
After the first night we changed room to the Garden room as the nightly entertainment of crickets and tree frogs, kept us awake most of the night. we know this is to be expected as we are in the tropics. If you are a light sleeper you may consider this level room, as they have glass along with the shutters. We previously stayed in the Beach Front Verandah rooms which are also really quiet, with the location being perfect. A lot of the rooms are being updated, and I am sure they will be lovely when completed.
Reception :
Missed the usual Jamaican greeting, a lovely smile and welcome !
Thank you for the room change, even though it was a room downgrade at our request.
Restaurants:
Only Lemongrass and Feathers were open for the week. However, you could only have one reservation during the week to either one. Dinner at Feathers was very good along with the service.
The Patois Patio was only open on the Sunday we arrived and for the Comeback Dinner the following night. I must say we missed this restaurant for the reminder of our stay, as the dinner menus here were excellent. It was closed for the remainder of the stay.
The Palms buffet restaurant was ok for breakfast and for lunch. Dinner choices were limited and don`t be late as the options go very quick. We had lobster dinner here on Saturday night and it was really really good !
Not sure what is going on with the staff, but it was a mixed bag in terms of politeness.
We always said good morning as we do in our everyday life, but on two occasions were totally ignored and the facial expression said a lot.
We did not go to Lemongrass so no comment.
Cabana Grill and Sea Grapes were a good option for a light lunch.
Beach Bars:
Two out of three beach bars were open. I found the staff were not very polite when approached, and were more engaged with each other to a point of you being ignored. It did not matter if you left a tip, the service remained the same. It was not like this at previous visits to Couples Swept Away I might add, where you were at least greeted with a smile by the more mature staff. An attitude adjustment in customer service may be needed to address this !
Water sports :
Only went paddle boarding, but all the usual activities were available.
On one occasion a windsurfer got into trouble and a customer swam out to help him back. The waters ports staff need to be a little more attentive to whats going on.
Dive shop :
This is one of the best dive shops I have used, and I have been to many !
Big shout out to everyone including Shaggy, Anthony, and the rest of the crew. These guys are really excellent, and really enjoy diving with them.
Catamaran cruise:
Excellent and highly recommended, lovely late afternoon cruise around the coast to Ricks Cafe, perfect way to end the day !
Location :
Set on Seven Mile beach the location is second to none. The water is calm and clear, and you can walk this beach easily. The vendors can bother you a little but you just be polite and decline and they don`t bother you after that.

Overall we had a lovely stay, and would probably return. I know we had some issues with some of the staff, but I am sure that this can be addressed by management.
Looking forward to our next visit !

Another lovely stay with a few issues.

We stayed at couples swept away for three weeks from 21st of July to the 11th of August. We flew with virgin and arrived at Montego Bay airport at 7 30pm.
This is our tenth time to Jamaica and the first time we had such a late arrival but it was perfect. Before we knew it we were in the couples lounge waiting for our bus to take us to the hotel. We were the only ones on the bus. We arrived at the resort at 9 30 pm and check-in was fast and efficient. We booked an atrium suite we were in room 2227. It was perfect. Close to the beach with views of the beach through the trees.
The beach is absolutely beautiful one of the main reasons we came back. The hotel was low capacity so was never a problem finding your perfect spot. As stated in previous reviews the vendors can become a pain. Compared to previous stays here we will say we felt they were more persistent with hassling you. We felt they were able to come closer to your beds this year which can be quite annoying when you are on your holiday just wanting to chill.
We understand they need to make a living but it did become quite annoying by the end of the three weeks.
Food was lovely. Feathers was our favourite where the service was excellent.
We ordered breakfast to our room four times during our stay and only received it twice Our mini bar was not filled 5 times during our stay. They run out of juices a few times and hot chocolate at the coffee shop.
On our last day we went to the reception and asked if we could have a late checkout of our room as we were not leaving the resort till 4pm. The lady at the desk said we could get it at a discounted price of 50 dollars if we paid cash. We agreed as we didn’t want to be sitting around for five hours before a 9 hour flight.
When we left our room at three our maid and another male was waiting for us to leave our room so it could be cleaned. When we got halfway to reception we realised we had left our cigarettes in the room so went back to the room and they were gone. When we asked the staff in our room they said they hadn’t seen them. We were quite disappointed with this as we showed our appreciation to our maid every day even though this is a no tipping resort.
Once on our bus journey back to the airport we picked up another couple from couples negril We got chatting and they said they got late checkout for no fee. We paid 50 dollars cash so work that one out for yourself. Another disappointment. Bearing in mind we didn’t arrive to our room till 930 pm when we arrived surely ours should have been no charge surely all couples resorts have the same policies.
Overall we had a lovely stay and the few gripes will not deter us from returning we will just be more mindful I guess.

Great Beach, Poor Value

Overall, our experience at Couples Swept Away was just okay. This was our fourth all-inclusive (we’ve stayed at Secrets, Dreams, and Breathless), and it definitely didn’t compare.

Pros:
• The reservation-only restaurants were both very good. Lemon Grass had great ambience, service, and solid dishes like Pad Thai and sweet & sour pork ribs. Feathers was equally enjoyable, with good beef tenderloin and salmon cakes.
• The beach is gorgeous — warm, crystal clear water on 7-mile beach.
• The snorkeling excursion (included) was a highlight. We saw a sea turtle, lots of fish, and even fed them — very cool.
• The Wednesday night steel drum group was unique and fun.
• Quiet and peaceful atmosphere overall.
• Felt relatively safe, even with vendors frequently offering marijuana or massages.
• Cocktails were good, and top-shelf liquor is included (though you do have to ask for it).

Cons:
• Food variety: Outside the two reservation restaurants, options were limited. The Palms was the only sit-down option without a reservation, and the buffet was minimal. Some food was decent (the pork loin and desserts stood out), but much of it was mediocre. Seeing meatloaf reused from lunch on a cold platter at dinner was off-putting. Compared to other resorts, the buffet and variety really fell short.
• Pools: Run-down and in need of maintenance. Chipped tiles, worn edges, and the swim-up bar had dead bees scattered around — not appealing.
• Rooms: The room was fine overall — good A/C, nice balcony, comfortable bed — but dated. Covers were rough, and several times we noticed a sewage smell from the bathroom. That was a big negative.
• Service: Mixed. Some staff were friendly and helpful, others seemed bored, disinterested, or standoffish. Service speed varied from good to slow.
• Transportation: The transfer took us 2 hours and 20 minutes from the airport. A party bus with drinks and snacks would’ve made it more bearable.
• Price: For the cost (more than the Secrets nearby), we expected better food variety, updated pools, and more consistent service.

Overall:
For the first half of our stay we were disappointed — mostly due to food and room issues. The last two dinners helped redeem things, but overall the resort didn’t live up to the price point or the reputation. If you want a quiet beach, simple vibe, and don’t mind limited dining, you might enjoy it. But if you’re looking for a polished all-inclusive with variety and consistent service, I’d recommend looking at other options in Negril.

Already Miss The Beach and Staff!

This was our third vacation at Couples Swept Away in as many years, so I’ll be brief with the boring details. The room was outstanding as always. Room 4322. The food was fine. A slight drop from previous stays, but still among the best all inclusive food we’ve ever had. I’ll admit, we did miss the snapper sandwich a lot. Put it back on the Scotch Bonnet lunch menu please.

Do the pools need some work? Sure. Is everything perfect? No. Is it still pretty dang great? Absolutely.

There are many reasons we return each year, and that beach is a big player in the decision. But the main reason is the people. The Swept Away staff, who often go unacknowledged, are always so incredibly awesome. The increase from a four-star rating to a five is because of (and I know I’m going to misspell some of these names) Shaunna Kaye, Jodianne, Shevon, Tyrice, Mervelyn, Ocea, Harle, and that young man working an internship, Juvon. There are others, like the other lady who worked the martini bar who was so great. I tried to remember all the names.

Each year we go to Couples Swept Away for the beach and the resort. That much is true. We love the place. We love the staff far more. We love seeing our staff who have become friends over past visits, miss the ones who are off due to it being the low season, and always enjoy getting acquainted with staff we are meeting for the first time.

See you all again in approximately 50 weeks!

An amazing experience at Couples Swept Away

Our week at Couples Swept Away was amazing! Even though we went during the off season, the staff, amenities and food were top shelf. Our dinner at Feathers was made extra special by Joshshia, our fantastic server. We both had the beef tenderloin, and it was delicious. We had great service at the swim up bar by both Shanna and Timroy. The sports facilities were tge best we've ever seen at an all-inclusive resort, and Donovan and Stephen made sure we were updated on all the classes and activities!

Beautiful Resort on the perfect beach!

We LOVE Couples Swept Away.  Located on the gorgeous Seven Mile Beach in Negril this amazing all-inclusive, adults only resort will steal your heart. The beach is rated one of the best beaches in the world for good reason. The super soft sand, the crystal clear water and the absence of seaweed make this beach absolutely perfect. The grounds at the resort are lush and tropical with beautiful flowers and palms everywhere. The staff, food and drinks are all amazing too. We had a garden view room but could still partially see the ocean from our balcony. We attended their Lobster Night for dinner one night and went to the Repeater Gourmet Dinner for returning guests another evening. We also took advantage of their complimentary Catamaran Sunset Cruise to the Negril Cliffs and enjoyed the sights such as Rick's Café and of course the stunning Negril sunset. I can honestly say this is my all time favorite beach and can't wait to get back to it again someday.

I ❤️ Couples swept away

This resort is top-tier. The rooms are a little older, but the beach and service are absolutely excellent. The food here is by far the best I’ve ever had at an all-inclusive. I’ve stayed at Hilton Rose Hall and Iberostar in Montego Bay, and neither comes close to the quality of food at this resort. If you want authentic, traditional Jamaican food, this should be your pick.

This was my second time staying here; my first visit was a few years ago. During this stay, there was some loud construction near our room. We brought it up to the staff, and they quickly moved us to another room and even gave us a resort credit. That level of service really sets them apart.

This isn’t a party resort — there isn’t a lot to do besides relax, but that’s exactly what I love about it.

A marvelous experience and needed relaxation

Jamaica was gorgeous, the people were beautiful, and the resort was relaxing and professional. I could not have imagined a better trip to serve as the resident tennis pro. Enjoy some of the photos I captured from my own camera.

Breathtaking

My husband and I went for 4 nights in August 2025. We had a beautiful time. The resort is absolutely beautiful. The beach is so spread out there’s a lot of room. No one is on top of you. You have plenty of space the water is absolutely gorgeous. We have been to Jamaica well over a dozen times And stayed in Negril every time and the beach is just one of the most beautiful we’ve seen and we’ve traveled all over the Caribbean and Mexico. I gave it a 4 star because some of the staff is not very nice. They give you attitudes. The food was not that good. No beach service they give you a red flag and it is just ignored. One day we asked the bartender why is no one coming she said it’s slow season so no beach service. The bar on the beach in front of the room we stayed in was closed as well. The pool bar was dirty stuff was floating in it everyday and not all the restaurants were open you had to walk really far to get to a restaurant especially breakfast in the morning because Patois was closed and we were in room 4121 a Beachfront Veranda Suite great room which is right by Patois so we did a lot of walking down to the Palms restaurant to eat breakfast. We loved the location perfect room. We walked right out onto the beach. The sunrise and sunsets are so beautiful and the beach and water are so beautiful too it was breathtaking the resort. Had a very tropical feel not modern. The pool bar was next to our room and so was Scotch Bonnet which had good choices for lunch. Feathers was also by our room we did not like the food. When we walked in to be seated the whole staff we’re sitting in chairs and staring at everybody as everyone walked in with attitudes. We personally didn’t like the food so we never went back there. The 4 nights we stayed there we went out 3 of them to eat. I would recommend the Rock House highly it’s a beautiful restaurant and hotel on the cliffs. They have great food. Overall, we loved the resort you had a lot of room, it is romantic and quiet if that is what your are looking for aside from all the walking it is worth it. I just wish some of the staff in the restaurants and at the bar were a little bit nicer because we love the resort and everything should be open when you’re paying for it and you go there and there’s a restaurant closed bars are closed that shouldn’t be whether it’s high season or low season especially when you’re paying for it. 🏝️

Staff is NOT what it used to be--Beautiful Resort

My husband and I have been to Couples Tower Isle 3 times and Swept away twice. We actually went to Couples Tower Isle for our Honeymoon 14 years ago. We tried Swept Away about 4 years ago as it looked so much prettier and the beach looked amazing. It was beautiful, but the staff wasn't as friendly as tower Isle --at all. The reason we stayed with Couples Resorts, was the feeling we had when we arrived, that all was taken care of, and the staff at Tower Isle would even say, "no worries, you are on vacation." If you passed a worker, they would smile and say "hi". It was not like that at Swept away a few years ago, but it wasn't awful either. We figured the beach was worth the service being a bit more "uninterested" in assisting or caring about how good of a time we had.

We decided to spend our 14th wedding anniversary at Swept Away in August 2025. We stayed 6 nights. We went with high hopes and excited to just relax a bit. I read before we left that some restaurants were shut down due to slow season...we decided to go ahead and move forward....so we did know that some things would not be available.
When we arrived, it was immediately clear, the staff had not changed, and if anything, it was worse. They did bring us a glass of champagne....with no words spoken...no smiles....nothing...and just walked away. We thought, ok, no big deal. Let's keep moving forward. It just continued. The staff at the Grill....would just stare at you when you walked up to order...with such a look of disdain. If we didn't speak, we probably would still not have our order taken. There was no confirmation when we were done speaking...she would write it down and then hand it off to the person behind the counter...and then walk away. This happened every single day we ate there. It was depressing. Oh well, we will do the water sports....My husband could not wait to get on the Hobie Cats...that was what he was looking forward to... Good Luck! Water sports staff would sit behind the counter...you could hardly see them. When you walked up they would all (about 6 of them sitting back there) and stare at you ....we asked about the hobie cats....they did not move. They said they were watching the weather.....Another person came up to do the same thing....but he wanted to take the lesson that started at like 2:00. (I can't remember)...But it was exactly the time the lessons started. They told him they were watching the weather. (The weather was perfect for Hobie Cats by the way...we had done it multiple times before). After we stood there beside the shak for about 20 minutes, with the other couple, I went back up and asked what we were exactly waiting for with the weather....Once again, they did not move. One of them said "What are you even wanting to do?" I said Hobie Cat, and the other person would like the lesson. The staff said oh that was at 2:00. I said he was here at 2:00 and you all said you were watching the weather. They had no response at all. The other gentleman waiting just left and said forget it. We tried one more day...and then just gave up.
We then noticed a few days later, watersports accepting "tips" from a couple of guys that went out on different things with them.... We met a young honeymoon couple the next day and he asked us about our snorkel equipment we had bought at the gift shop....I told him the watersports shak might give him some. He said he went up there and they asked him how much he would pay.....and then they said 40 dollars for an hour and they would give him a snorkel. I could not believe how completey sick it made me to know that couples has now gotten to this point.

I went to guest services to ask if the tipping policy was still "no tipping" at couples. She stated to me that "yes, technically it is, but guests will discreetly give out tips. I just have to be discreet". I literally stared at her and said thank you and walked away. I now knew why there was literally no "quality service" left at couples.

I could go on, but at this point, I feel like I am wasting my breath begging Couples to get back to the same "level of service" they had 14 years ago on our honeymoon. My husband said things have changed, we will just have to go to Sandals or somewhere else in the future, as Sandals now has a No tipping policy as well.
You can't make the staff be "nice" and "friendly". Heck, at this point I would have settled for just being cordial. Staff would just stare at us when we walked up to "get a drink, a coffee at the coffee bar" it was like we were intruding on their time. We saw staff drinking at the pool bar after it closed. Just sitting there having a great time! They ran out of towels multiple times on the beach. We would ask a staff if there were any more towels, and she responded "in your room". I just couldn't even speak.
That being said. The beach is GORGEOUS! The room was great! Housekeeping did a great job! The food was not very good, in our opinion. We were forced to the buffet multiple evenings since it was slow season and they had closed restaraunts. One night it was pasta night. They had a staff member making pasta dishes by request. When I told her my order..she didn't even look at me. I then realized they had garlic sitting there and asked if I could add garlic to mine. She literally stopped, looked up.....made a big sigh.....slammed the pan back down. I didn't know if I was going to get the garlic or not........the person next to me stared at me and then walked away to go get something else...as she didn't want to deal with this person.

I will miss you couples swept away....as you are the perfect location....perfect beach....but I will not pay such a large amount of money to be treated as if I am a burden to every staff member that was there. Do better for the people coming in the future. They deserve a wonderful experience for the amount of money they will pay.

First Timers - Very Impressed

We went with some friends that have been going to Couples Swept Away for many years. Their previous knowledge was very helpful, but you could probably do O.K. by yourself for first timers. Food was very good, the drinks flowed freely, and the Staff were all exceptional.

Improvement needed badly

Been here a handful of times. Experience was not great. Massage was bad, gave us incorrect departure info, construction right outside our room, pool bar filthy, and restaurant opening pushed back. Lack of entertainment. Tried to get ahold of management twice through email and phone and no communication was returned. We usually really enjoy this place but this time we did not. We did enjoy the beach, the Tiki Pon Da sea boat to the little island (best lobster), Lilys which is next door at Skylark, Great food, vibe and bartenders. Woodstock is a fun beach bar with food, Bambo Roots has live music at night so much fun. Flagg City had great lobster short walk from Woodstock and Roots. For good food Best in the West, jerk chicken is yummy.

Beautiful beach with great food

CSA is one the best all inclusive resorts we’ve stayed at so far. There are some minor areas of improvement, but for the price we booked, we are very happy with everything we received.

FOOD:
The only breakfast options while Patois is closed for renovations were The Palms Buffet and continental room service. We opted for the buffet everyday, and it was fine. There was less selection than we were used to, but we were able to find something we liked everyday, such as pastries, made to order eggs or omelets, and other classic breakfast fare.

I was disappointed by the continental breakfast offered at The Palms between 5-730am. We had to leave at 7am for our flight home, and the only other option was room service with the earliest slot being 630-7am. I assumed the selection at the buffet would be the same as room service, but when we showed up, there were 2 yogurt cups, a bowl of fruit, and some coffee and OJ. This was very surprising considering I don’t think 7am is early for breakfast. We opted to eat at the airport instead.

In general, the food hours are later than I’m used to— the buffet didn't open for lunch until 12:30, then 6:30PM for dinner. There was usually something else open, though.

For lunch, we had 3 options between the two outdoor a la carte restaurants and the buffet. The food was generally really good, and I appreciated the healthy options at Seagrapes. The buffet for lunch was so-so.

For dinner, we were able to reserve one of the two specialty restaurants (Lemongrass and Feathers) every day of our stay with Guest Services each morning. It was a little inconvenient that I couldn’t make >1 reservation at once and I couldn’t get the website to work either, but I was happy we didn’t have to eat at the buffet for dinner. Based on other reviews, it sounds like the reservation availability varies throughout the year.

The food at the specialty restaurants was awesome. Best out of any AI I’ve been to, and they varied the menu throughout the week. I loved the high quality options as well, such as lobster, shrimp, crab, steak, duck, and lamb chops. BTW get the soup!!

There was also impressive live entertainment every night at the Palms/Lemongrass. It got loud at points, so consider booking an early dinner if that bothers you.

DRINKS: Awesome drinks, top shelf liquor in room and at bars, cocktail menus with a daily special offered every day. I definitely recommend the martini bar. We also loved the coffee bar with specialty coffee drinks. The only thing that would’ve been nice is having more of a main bar/lobby bar like other resorts have. There was a bar in the Palms buffet, but there wasn’t really many places to hang out nearby, and it felt kind of awkward to walk in from the back of the buffet.

BEACH: Beautiful location, cannot go wrong. There were some cats outside, but we never encountered feces. They mostly stayed to themselves. No dogs. The vendors on the beach did try to get your attention, but they were not allowed to approach your chairs like they are at other beaches/resorts. Security did a good job of managing vendors. This was not a big deal to me, and it seemed like many guests appreciated the availability of goods/services.

CLEANLINESS: Generally the food areas were very clean. There were a couple birds in the corner areas of the open air restaurants, but there’s really not much you can do about that.

One area of improvement would be more efficient pick up of dishes from the rooms. It appeared that cleaning staff would stack dishes outside and leave them to be picked up for later, but it took a long time for this to happen.

Our room was consistently tidied twice a day. It wasn’t the best cleaning we’ve ever had at an AI, but it got the job done. More attention to the shower floors and general organization would be ideal.

We also did have an odor problem in our bathroom after it rained, but maintenance promptly dealt with it. We were also told they would let us move rooms if need be, but the smell went away.

ACTIVITIES: This is not a party resort by any means, and that was fine by us. We are a young couple but still found plenty to do. We were a little disappointed about the lack of people playing beach volleyball, but that’s ok. We loved being able to do free snorkeling excursion, the sunset catamaran with swimming (no snorkeling unfortunately) in the caves, water skiing, sailing, and scuba diving. The activities alone added several hundred dollars worth of value to our stay, and these inclusions will probably convince us to come back.

If you are looking to do water sports, I recommend checking in with the employees each day to see when lessons are happening.

The sports complex was great as well. There was daily pickleball and tennis. I recommend going across the street and checking the schedule for things that may not have made it onto the main schedule.

The spa was also great! We had an awesome couples massage, then we got to relax in a small heated pool. The only thing that would’ve made it better would be glasses of champagne. There were also massage options for $1/minute on the beach off resort, but we didn’t go.

ROOM: This is where CSA shows its age a little bit. The rooms are on the smaller side, and there is no tub/jacuzzi. Every room has a nice balcony, though. The room was great for our purposes, but I don’t think the upgraded rooms would be worth it, unless you’re really interested in being slightly closer to the beach. We could still see the ocean from our balcony in our garden view room.

Our room was one of the closest to the main road, and we were not bothered at all by road noise except once when a siren went by.

Our mini bar was not stocked regularly unfortunately with one request not fulfilled, but the initial stock up plus one request was plenty for our stay.

GENERAL: The resort is decently big, but it takes less time to walk places than it seems from the map. The numbering system for rooms is confusing and we got a little lost on the first night, but that’s okay.

There was a lot of construction happening since we were there in the off season. This was fine and expected. However, you could hear construction noise from the beach occasionally. If these kinds of things bother you, I’d suggest not booking during the off season.

The pools were small, and the swim up bar was a little sad. If you’re looking for a nice pool, this is probably not the resort for you. We are 100% beach people so this did not bother us at all.

SERVICE: I’m really surprised by how others talk about the service in other reviews. Of course not every person gave 100% great service, but we were well taken care of. I also don’t require someone to be cloyingly enthusiastic about fixing me a drink. It’s Jamaica, expect to be on island time.

Overall, I totally see why half the guests were returners.

Lovely Stay as Always

We have been to the Couples resorts about 17 or so times. Six times to Swept Away. We had a lovely trip. As usual, there were pros and cons, but I would definitely recommend. A few comments below.

Loved…
Drinks.
Comfy bed.
Feathers and Lemongrass…so good. All the food is very good and there is something for everyone.
Steel drum band and most other entertainment at Palms. One night because it was slow, staff was singing and dancing with the entertainment and it was so fun.
Service by 99% of staff is excellent.
New coffee bar (we don’t drink coffee, but the cakes were delicious).
Chill vibe.
Beach…both the availability of chairs and shade and the beautiful water. Readily available beach towels.
Pool by Palms.
Jerk chicken at the grill…delicious as usual.
Bonfire and the guy they had singing and playing guitar.
Maid service.
Couples massage was very nice and spa is lovely.
Martini bar.
Security on beach.
Gift shops.
Comfortable bus ride to and from resort.
SCUBA. The reef in this part of Jamaica isn’t going to wow you, but they are an efficient shop with good equipment and friendly staff.

Didn’t love…
Beach vendors as the same ones loudly ask you repeatedly (meaning multiple times a day/week) if you want something.
Beach Front Room is a little tired looking. Air conditioning was struggling to keep the room cool. Ants in the bathroom, especially after the rain.
The fact that Patios didn’t open on Oct. 1 as stated when we booked.
Very loud tractor raking the beach at about 6 am every day but one during our stay. I appreciate that they keep the beach beautiful, but this woke me up every morning.
Pool by the swim up bar was not very clean and small section by the bar was so yucky looking we didn’t even go in.
Ultimate Chocolate’s newer format. It used to be so much fun, listening to him play, sing, and tell stories. We went to see him twice and it was basically karaoke. Disappointing.
People bringing they own speakers to the beach/pool and playing loud music. This trip was the first time we encountered this.
