Just an Amazing Resort!

After much research, my wife and I decided to go to Sugar Beach about ten years ago. They gave never given us a reason to even consider another resort We've gone back several times and we don't consider other alternatives because the resort itself is gorgeous, the villas (each with a small pool) are beautiful, the food is varied and excellent, and most importantly, this resort has the best staff anywhere. Everyone is SO friendly and accommodating and you're always met with a smile and a nice comment. The food is varied - from the beach restaurant (Bonte) to the high end Saltwood. And the service and menu on the beach are fantastic. I really just can't say enough about this place!

A Perfect 12-Day Escape to Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort

We stayed at Sugar Beach for 12 days in July and truly enjoyed every minute of our trip. If you’re contemplating staying at Sugar Beach — just do it! This resort offers the best beach, unbeatable views of the iconic Pitons, luxurious lodging, and an incredible staff that goes above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. From the moment we arrived we were taken care of with a warm welcome at the resort. The July weather was mostly perfect, with only two brief rainy days that brought stunning rainbows. Our remodeled deluxe cottage in the 600s offered a lush jungle view, a distant ocean view, and a private plunge pool (which we didn’t use much — the beach and main pool were just too good to pass up!). The location was convenient for walking, but shuttles were always available, and the butlers were incredibly helpful and attentive. We loved the thoughtful daily touches, like spa skincare products left by housekeeping. Each morning we began the day with a gorgeous walk to the beach and then to the generous buffet breakfast with panoramic views of the Pitons. The food easily kept us going most of the day. The rainforest spa was a highlight, and we also booked fantastic boat tours right from the beach with Solomon’s. Don’t miss the Friday Night Gros Islet Street Party — it was one of our favorite experiences. Be sure to go off property and explore the Soufriere area. We used Golden Ticket for private transportation and created our own off-property adventures, eating local food, and visiting less touristy local attractions. Yes, food and drinks at the resort are pricey, but many activities are complimentary: snorkeling, kayaking, gym access, relaxing poolside or on the beach, and scenic walks on the beach and around the property. We were given 2 Sugar Beach water bottles which we used to fill up in hydration stations around the resort. The resort also offers a free Sunset Happy Hour on Wednesdays — a beautiful way to wind down the day. Everywhere you turn, there are breathtaking views, friendly staff members, and a sense of relaxation and luxury that’s hard to beat. We can’t recommend Sugar Beach Viceroy enough!

True Paradise

After going back and forth between possible resorts, I am thrilled I settled on Sugar Beach. It is truly a prize in the middle of an oasis. I opted to stay in a beachfront bungalow, which was worth every cent. Vacation is about walking out of your beachfront room to enjoy the views and napping in your hammock. I considered Ladera, but the three-wall concept was not for me. I did opt to have dinner at Ladera during sunset, and the views are amazing, but as soon as the sun went down, the crickets and the mosquitoes made me happy that I chose Sugar Beach.
I want to thank Felicia and Michaela, who ensured we were happy and celebrated my birthday.
Special thanks to Maurcia at Terrace Restaurant for making me feel like family.
Thanks to the morning groundkeepers who always passed by while I was sitting in the outdoor lounge chair to check in on my husband and me
Thanks to Blaze on the beach for caring for us and making St Lucia feel like home.
I am forever grateful, and I will be back.

Paradise hotel in a rainforest between the St Lucia Pitons

A delightful hotel with a perfect location between the two pitons. It is a paradise to stay in and has plenty of activities with some of the best scuba diving we have ever done, whilst the climb up gros piton was quite exceptional, as was the visit to the sulphur springs. The customer service is faultless throughout and special thanks to Elijah, Mervin and Vitos at the dive centre who are amongst the best dive instructors
we have scuba dived with, particularly helping both kids get their diving certificates. Our butler Ned was super helpful too. The only downside about this resort is the catering/F&B prices, they need to look more closely at the price point as the only location that is vaguely acceptable on price is at the Jetty Burgers site. We are quite keen on buffet, but the buffet offering we were quoted was $135 per head for a theme buffet, which seems out of touch with reality given we are just likely to consume a mixed plate of main course and something for dessert- there was a small discount for kids, but since they are unlikely to eat more than a burger and fries the price is exorbitant.

Amazing Water Sports!

Amazing resort. Everything is perfect. We loved the water sports, especially snorkeling with the guide Mervin. He taught my wife to snorkel and we went on multiple guided snorkeling swims. He knows the area so well and brought us multiple times to the precise rock where the octopus, which we really wanted to see, was resting. He is a knowledgeable, friendly and patient guide. So good!

Nice Stay - some good and some not so good things

We are Carribean 'junkies' and are checking off the list of places to see, this summer it was St. Lucia. Nestled in between the Pitons, this place was very nice. We were not sure what to expect as it was very hilly and a tough walk to the beach from the 600's.

The good and the bad from our 11 day stay:

Good:
1) 1 Bedroom villa + living room was nice although 1 bathroom for 4 people was a little challenging.
2) Daily breakfast buffet was a nice touch, the service was good.
3) The beach was nice and the water mats were great (minus one day for Sargasm), chairs were always available and the beach service was really good, the guys there were great.
4) The Spa was a nice, obviously a bit overpriced but you live once.
5) Jetty Burger was just what we needed, a burger, beer and fries while sitting on a pier and looking at the Pitons - excellent.
6) Hydration stations were key and a necessity.
7) Go to Mango Tree for the view, Hotel Chocolate and TREE TOP is a must, delicious!
8) Kendals taxi service was fantastic, to and from the airport.
9) Sunset cruise was magical, highly recommend.

Not so good:
1) A bit annoying to have to summons a shuttle every time we wanted to leave and return to our room. The drivers were very good and friendly, but doing this every day for 11 days got old quick. The app was good to request a pickup, they were responsive.
2) Our 'Butler'- I was not impressed, maybe we just got a mediocre one but other than making our dinner reservations and a couple excursions, they were a ghost. We saw other butlers talking and helping their guests while at the beach, not ours.
3) There were a couple times we did not receive turndown. If I am paying $1k+ a night, turndown should not be an afterthought.
4) We didn't use the splash pool as much as we thought we would, at times it was dirty from the heavy rains and we had to request it to be cleaned. I shouldn't have to ask, they should check the pools when they clean the rooms.
5) Our fire alarm went off at 3 am, it was beyond startling and a bit nerve racking for the family. The head of butler services made it right and we appreciated it, but that should not happen at a 5 star resort.
6) The restaurant on the beach was just ok, had dinner once and I was not impressed, could have been what I chose.
7) Upgrade excuse - we were there for 11 nights, so we asked for an upgrade based on the fact of the length of stay, availability and how much $ we were spending. We got an excuse that they didn't have it available, however on their website there were 7 rooms available that they were willing to sell...comical, but whatever.

All in all it was nice - the mountainous layout was not what we were used to in our Caribbean travels. I like being able to walk out of my room, explore and go the beach without having to take a shuttle each time.

Excellent Summer stay at The Sugar Beach Resort in St Lucia

My wife and I had a wonderful anniversary week at Sugar Beach this August. A great time of the year to be in St Lucia, 85 degrees with a breeze everyday with little rain.
The Sugar Beach Resort is very well done and they have trained their people in excellent customer service with very few exceptions.
We booked a Superior Villa through Costco Travel (which I recommend), but found it was farther from the beach and restaurants/bars than expected. We negotiated a move to the beachfront Cabanas for our final 5 nights. This move was a highlight—the beach was right outside, and restaurants were within a short walking distance.
All the restaurants were very good but we found Saltwood, their fine dining, to be the best. Their service and food selections are excellent. We had lunch each day at the Bonte bar and their spicy salmon and shrimp sushi were superb.
The staff at Sugar beach really go out of their way to provide spectacular service. A few of note:
Curtley, our pickleball instructor, Lorenzia and Kentsu at Bonte bar, Tristan on the beach, Lana at the bar, Larus the Saltwood bartender, Macrina, Shy and Marcellus – our butlers and both Yvonne and Michele - Spa masseuses.
We have stayed at 2 other places in St Lucia in the past (incl. Jade Mountain) and found Sugar Beach to be superior in offerings, their beach, and restaurant choices.
We will certainly return to Sugar Beach in the future.

The most memorable Caribbean vacation

This has to be the best 5 star hotel in the whole Caribbean right now

We have wanted to visit for a while and surpassed every expectation and truly outstanding.

The staff are so happy, accommodating and professional. They delivered the most exceptional service we have received throughout the region.

The whole resort was immaculately maintained with stunning accommodation and breathtaking views of the Caribbean ocean and local mountains (Pietons)

The immense property & grounds houses 5 amazing eateries, large pool, vast golden beaches, rainforest spa and stunning waters for snorkelling

The best honeymoon!

My now husband and I just got back from our honeymoon in Saint Lucia where we stayed at Sugar Beach and it was all we could have dreamed of and more! We upgraded our room to the luxury cottage and it was perfect. High up with great views of the beach and the pitons and very private with your own plunge pool. I don’t think you can beat the views from sugar beach which is in between the two pitons - it doesn’t look real! The shuttle service, butler service, bar/wait staff and everyone else were so kind and welcoming. We did pretty much every excursion and they were all incredible.
1) grow piton hike - very difficult but the views were amazing
2) explore Soufriere- one of my favorite days at the volcano, sulfur mud bath, waterfall and botanical garden
3) rainforest hike - got to try so many awesome fruits and see some incredible wildlife - got to see the Saint Lucia parrot which made the entire trip
4) Superman waterfall - very personal and private (only me and my husband and our guide) very beautiful and a short hike down to the falls
5) rum and chocolate tasting - right on site, very fun and learned so much, next time I would deff do the chocolate making class! Our pairing was with Kentus and Albertina - they were the best! We also bought lots of chocolate to bring home and I wish we would have bought more. So good
6) rainforest spa - got couples massages - one of the coolest spas I have ever been to - super incredible views and atmosphere, you are literally in the rainforest! So worth the price
7) sunset cruise - also worth the splurge, had so much fun just looking at all the views and hanging out with the team and guests - had included drinks and apps, saw some dolphins and fish
8) free snorkeling- the coolest spot on the side of the piton to snorkel - saw so many cool unique fish - cuddlefish, parot fish, snapper, etc
9) pickleball / tennis - will never be able to play with such a cool view ever again! Also was free!!!

Sugar beach had so many small things that truly made it incredible. Cold towels on the beach, private cabanas, fun themed dinner nights, sunglasses cleaning, chocolate covered sorbet hand outs, social sundown happy hour to connect with staff, tiki night, amazing food and drinks, so many different things for so many different type of people. Met so many fun guests as well and really connected with staff

We booked through Costco and got free breakfast Buffett each day with our stay - breakfast was always incredible.

I will absolutely be coming back and we spoiled ourselves with this trip because I don’t think anything will ever compare! Worth the splurge.

Caribbean Paradise - Sugar Beach

An absolutely amazing resort! From the moment our family of 5 entered the resort we were met with huge, welcoming smiles from the staff. The facilities, grounds and accommodations are truly spectacular. Our 3 bedroom villa was steps away from the ocean and was full of wonderful little surprises that made our stay truly unforgettable. Simply the Best!

We’ve just returned from an incredible 11-night stay at Sugar Beach as a family of four, and it truly exceeded all expectations. From the warm welcome at the airport to the impeccable service on the beach, everything was first class.

The location is unbeatable, with stunning views and incredible snorkelling right from the shore. We opted for the all-inclusive package, which was excellent and made everything so easy.

What really sets Sugar Beach apart, though, is the outstanding level of service and attention to detail. Every single team member we encountered went out of their way to ensure we were looked after. While it’s hard to single anyone out because everyone was brilliant, a special mention to Nyanka and Tyran, who were absolutely fantastic in taking care of us in 709 (amazing views).

If you’re looking for an unforgettable family trip in a breathtaking setting, look no further—Sugar Beach is simply outstanding.

Dreaming of a return to Sugar Beach soon

Wow!! Just returned from the most fabulous trip to Sugar Beach with college girlfriends to celebrate our 50th birthdays and all I can say is Wow!! If you have not been then you must add it to your list. It’s a stunning location, beautiful immaculately kept accommodations, delicious food at every meal and the best personal service I have experienced anywhere in the Caribbean (special shout out to Markenzie - the best ever!!)

A few highlights- the snorkeling right at the resort is amazing and better than most snorkel boat trips I have taken. The buffet breakfast every morning was fabulous as well as the special buffet dinners that the resort hosts on certain nights. The Rainforest Spa is truly one of a kind so certainly don’t miss that.

Milestones birthday celebration

We went on a girls trip for a milestone birthday and had an exquisite stay. Food, service and property were flawless. And do not sleep on the spa experience. Beyond Expectations

This resort is next level. The beach bungalow exceeded our expectations. Macrina our lovely butler went above and beyond. Shout out to the host and hostesses at the restaurants. Especially Cycliene. Breathtaking views, above average beachfront

This review is long overdue. I went in October 2022 and had a lovely experience. We stayed in the junior villa which was incredibly clean, airy, and spacious. Our personalized Butler went above and beyond for us. For example, after one of the piton hikes my sneakers were covered in mud and he made sure they were spotless before I left.

The beachfront at this resort is very comfortable and the view of the ocean adjacent to the volcanoes is breathtaking. I believe the beach is actually manmade and so the sand is perfect, no rocks or seaweed. All of the loungers are well equipped with appropriate shade, charging ports, and reliable wifi. The resort offers thoughtful excursions and we enjoyed hiking, visiting a chocolate plantation, and a sunset cruise.

The food was fine. I have no complaints but nothing really stood out. You must try their pina coladas though, made from scratch and scores better than anything I’ve ever ordered in the states!

All in all, ideal for honeymoons and relaxing beach getaways for couples. Personalized butler service made the experience feel super super luxe. Above average beachside service and amenities.

PS: Don’t be afraid to visit in October. Bursts of rain are short and you can still enjoy being outside most of the day.

My special getaway

Apart from the breathtaking view of the pitons, what stood out most to me was the customer service. Our butler Beverly was attentive and friendly. Nyama was engaging and made us feel like we were at home, and appreciated. Melanie and Clian at the Bonte restaurant super attentive, great service. Anthea took care of us at the beach we enjoyed our conversations. As someone who is part of the service industry, I fully understand the impact of great customer service on a business. These are some of your superstars we encontered. Accomdations were comfortable, food was great!!!!

Sugar beach is great!

I went for a day pass coming from The Royalton Resort. The beach is amazing and very peaceful. The service is a 10/10. The staff makes sure you are taken care of even if you are not a guest. Specifically, Otis who was the staff taking care of us, is amazing and very attentive. If you go make sure you ask for him!!. Food prices and drinks were reasonable for an expensive and exclusive resort like Sugar Beach.

Romantic and Beautiful

Everything about our stay at Sugar Beach was great. The customer journey was exceptional from booking to arriving at the resort. We were greeted by our concierge coordinator who had everything ready for us. My husband was impressed and loved the personal touch added to our villa. The chocolatier and dining experience was amazing. We thought the Latin dinner was overpriced. However, we loved it and breakfast. The employees were warm, helpful and professional.
