General Manager Sharon provided the best hospitality I have experienced in all my travels. She led by example, demonstrating that no task was too small for her to personally address. Her hands-on leadership is a true model of excellence.
Ava was exceptionally attentive, ensuring that all of my concerns were addressed quickly and with care. Her professionalism and responsiveness greatly enhanced our stay.
Chef Mr. Singh prepared a fabulous dinner that exceeded expectations, while the waitress who served us was both courteous and highly professional.
Donna, Veronica, Sharene, and Shanelle also contributed to the outstanding service we received, each playing a role in making our experience memorable.

Lovely hotel, very clean, staff very welcoming and polite. Me and my partner got married here and couldn’t off asked for a better day. A big thank you to Shandula for making it a wedding to remember and for sorting everything out for the big day. Also would like to thank 2 bar staff Chris and Kareem for been very friendly, chatty and always bringing us drinks. Also a big shout out to Dyllan the entertainment, always putting a smile on people faces and making the night to remember.
I would recommend this hotel for a wedding or honeymoon.

On checking in, we found our room had gotten a refresh and was brighter than previously.
The resort is one of the smallest Sandals and as such is quite intimate and inviting with a high level of service. It did not take many visits to the Irie bar before a Tito’s martini 🍸 was delivered automatically by a great bar staff (Merry Christmas). Great service in the various restaurants from people such as Berthelina, Marcella and of course Veronica. Ava, Venezia, Cleus were outstanding and helpful. And Winfried was there when we needed.
Along with the staff, Sandals guests are the best. We met up with returning guests again for a great time and hope to see them when we visit the UK next year.
All this and we haven’t mentioned the beach which is terrific. The water is warm and inviting with no seaweed.
Now, our small nits. The resort could use a coffee shop like those on Grenada Antigua,etc. along with a Butch’s. We realize that space is limited, but those dining options are important factors in the Sandals experience. And while we really appreciate Win’s assistance, we would like to see more management continuity at Halcyon. Three managers in three years. It appears that Halcyon is a leadership training ground. And we appreciate the opportunities the company provides for ambitious and talented people, staff stability is reassuring.
All in all, Halcyon Beach is clearly one of our favorites and we have already booked next year’s return.

We’ll Be Back
This may seem like a repeat of last year’s review of Halcyon, but our fourth stay underscores the attraction and consistency of the resort. We’ll start with the typical negatives in other reviews. The trip from the airport is long, but it is interesting with impressive visuals as you cross the spine of the island. Onsite dining is somewhat limited, but we would note that the addition of a BBQ, taste of the Caribbean night at Bayside, menu change at the beach bistro and weekly tea in the garden are nice additions. Of course, side trips to La Toc or the Grand open up additional dining opportunities. She was always present from check-in, throughout our stay; to check out. Her presence was consistent along with Melissa's. They both made us feel very much at home. The buffet restaurant for breakfast was calm. We did not experience any rush or delay when it came to our meals at the restaurants. The surroundings were so peaceful, I did not want to leave!! The flowers, the flowers sooo attractive. The pools were always clean and well-kept. Raggay night was fun indeed. There were other people we came across but I so apologize for not getting their names. THANK YOU HALCYON; WE'LL BE BACK INDEED! ❤️

Where to begin? Sandals Halcyon is indeed the definition of its name. Peaceful, calm a place where you can trust to have a prosperous time with the help of the staff and beautiful scenery. Although I arrived alone since my partner was not yet on the property Jasleyn welcomed me with a beautiful song along with her friend. I indeed appreciated it since my presence yet alone was gratefully acknowledged. I then met Marvelous Melissa. She ensured to educate me on all the information I needed to know whiles she walked me to my room. We stayed in room 711 a Crystal Lagoon Poolside Luxury room. I believe our room was located in the Roseau building. The view , the view sooo amazing since it's of the gardens and Caribbean's longest pool (Melisa taught me well) Dinner at Soy was amazing with personalized service from Chef Puje. Manager Dong was very welcoming, Maya at Mario's shes so sweet and helpful ☺️. Server Anna at Kelly's -excellent service. Butler Gorgeous Gina was a star- although we did not have butler service she took time out and assisted us; gave us a feel of what butler service felt like (thought for our next stay). Hostess Dolores thank you for accommodating us without a reservation.Winfried Hotel manager was very polite; Thechla from Beach Bistro, very patient staff, Bartender Kadiaha awesome service -do try the Goombay Smash cocktail it's delicious. Connecting with the front desk Manager Remarkable Ruth was a great delight! She's so welcoming and accommodating. She went above and beyond I could not thank her enough!She was always present from check-in, throughout our stay; to check out. Her presence was consistent along with Melissa's. Our vacation was made extra special by the fabulous staff who couldn't do enough to help make our stay perfect. Among those who really went the extra mile were Laura our housekeeper, Vince who we first met at the Irie bar and made the best cocktails. April a fantastic trainee who will go far with her sunny and friendly personality, we saw her several times across the property and were always greeted with a smile and excellent service. Joanna at the Paradise pool bar who always remembered no ice in the sparkling water!.. and last, but certainly not least, Berthalina in Bayside who provided us with cheese and biscuits when we wanted a light lunch.
Overall the gardens are stunning, the pools lovely and spotlessly clean. the restaurants easily accessible, the food mostly good.
I would agree as others have said the resort is looking a little 'tired' chairs in Kellys could do with replacing, some of the pool loungers could do with a good scrub down and furniture in the walk out swim up rooms a little dated. First time at Sandals, will be back!
Returned last weekend from an excellent stay at Sandals Halcyon Beach.Our vacation was made extra special by the fabulous staff who couldn't do enough to help make our stay perfect. Among those who really went the extra mile were Laura our housekeeper, Vince who we first met at the Irie bar and made the best cocktails. April a fantastic trainee who will go far with her sunny and friendly personality, we saw her several times across the property and were always greeted with a smile and excellent service. Joanna at the Paradise pool bar who always remembered no ice in the sparkling water!.. and last, but certainly not least, Berthalina in Bayside who provided us with cheese and biscuits when we wanted a light lunch.
Overall the gardens are stunning, the pools lovely and spotlessly clean. the restaurants easily accessible, the food mostly good.
I would agree as others have said the resort is looking a little 'tired' chairs in Kellys could do with replacing, some of the pool loungers could do with a good scrub down and furniture in the walk out swim up rooms a little dated. In all a super vacation and would love to retun in the near future.

What a great vacation with my daughter and son in law.
I had so much fun with my daughter and her husband when we weren’t native St. Lucia Halcyon. The service was awesome and the rooms were very nice, We visited the Sandals Grand where we rented a cabana with butler service. Our butler was Sanjay and he was so good and made the day great. The scuba diving team for Halcyon was top of the line with Wendy, and captain Mike who really made our experience the most that anyone could expect. We did a private boat and dive with Wendy and her crew that was very good. We liked it so much that we will be back next September.

I guess most people’s first experience of Sandals is the shuttle from the airport. As we’ve always used a private transfer I can’t comment about this specifically but having used the shuttles inter-resort I will say some of the driving leaves a lot to be desired and the roads are treacherous and poorly maintained (not Sandals fault).
They sing you a little song to accompany your wet towel when you arrive, some might regard this as cute, I think it’s cringy.
Our room on the crystal lagoon (swim up) was ideally positioned with a comfy bed but it’s fair to say the decor is looking a little tired and needing a lick of paint. TV has a fair selection of English channels but I take a firestick which works fine with the shaky WiFi.
Maid service is adequate but sometimes arrives too late in the day and can be inconvenient
when you’re getting ready to go out for an early dinner. Also they take the room glasses leaving you short whereas they don’t always replace items they should eg towels and milk.
Room service was very good with some of the dishes being better than what was available in the restaurants.
Food was generally excellent accompanied by friendly service, sometimes a little slow in Kelly’s. Occasionally the meat was a little tough so always ask for a steak knife.
Bars were adequately staffed to deal with demand but the main Irie bar could get a little warm. The resort wasn’t very busy but there was often nowhere to sit to watch the evening entertainment such as it was.
Overall the people we dealt with were very friendly, helpful and caring, we sometimes encountered the odd bit of attitude but we all have our off days.
The resort is easily navigable and a very pleasant environment to be in with the variety of plants and trees on site and the meandering paths (some of which lead nowhere!).
We always have a great time here and have booked for next year (you get a good deal this way) so big tick, 9/10, A+ to all involved, not perfect but who/what is!

Firstly, the food was very hit and miss. We had some nice meals, the best being the lunch buffet at the bayside with a different cuisine each day, offering some variety that is desperately needed for the dinner time service. The pizza truck was also ideal, and the pizzas were lovely, although we were frustrated to be turned away quite rudely, 25 mins before the closing time. Dinner service was also mixed, we had one okay meal in the Italian restaurant, but our second visit was awful. The meal was inedible. We had high expectations of Kelly’s dockside, the main restaurant that requires a reservation. We went there twice, the first was okay, pork belly starter was so tough we couldn’t cut it, but the mains were nice. The second visit on our last night was terrible, the service was disappointing and extremely slow, the food was poor and we, and other couples, left clearly unhappy before they even bought out dessert.
Both times we booked Kelly’s, we arrived to be told our table had been booked at a different time/date than what we had arranged at the concierge desk. With one being booked for a date after we’d have left! Luckily this didn’t prevent us from getting a table, but the frosty reception with being told we’d arrived at the wrong time twice was frustrating.
The French restaurant was okay, but closed on a Saturday leaving us with only one option of the Italian - which was obviously busy so we had to a wait at the main bar for a table and that was the meal that was terrible. And the Japanese was a great experience, but the food was incredibly salty and a bit overcooked, although we did have a young new chef.
We found it surprising that another guest who had visited multiple Sandals resorts said the food was better there than others they’d been too, which didn’t give us hope a different, larger resort with more option would be much better. Although we did have a nice meal at La Toc one evening, and others who visited different restaurants there all said the food was lovely.
What did look great was the variety of cocktails. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy these as I’m pregnant and my husband doesn’t drink.
While the staff are very friendly and attentive, for us this went too far on occasions. On our second day, there was a thunderstorm and the weather was terrible all day. We received a call from the club team to ask if we were okay and needed anything brought to our room, which we thought was a really lovely touch. What we didn’t realise was we would continue to receive these calls every day. On 4 occasions these calls were early enough to wake us up, not what you want when you are on holiday and want to make the most of the one opportunity a year you get to wake up naturally with no alarm! We ended up leaving the phone off the hook for the latter part of our trip.
We also found it extremely uncomfortable being constantly hounded by sales representatives. We were approached quite aggressively by someone from the spa to book a treatment, we told them no as I’m pregnant but they continued to push for any treatment I could have, including hugely overpriced facials. After this, we were approached again by spa reps on two separate occasions while relaxing by the beach watching the sunset.
The worst was the team tasked at getting guests to commit to a future trip to sandals. Informing guests of a loyalty programme/discount for future trips is one thing, but to get approached immediately during orientation, 3 calls to our room, multiple quotes placed in our room and even approached while enjoying a swim in the lagoon pool to book was far too much and frankly annoying when trying to enjoy the holiday we were on and had spent a lot of money on.
While out of Sandals control, also be prepared to be hounded on arrival by people on the beach, selling bracelets, horse rides, weed and various boat rides/excursions. Sandals do their best to warn guests about the risks of going through these people rather than them, and security we’re stopping them from actually coming onto Sandals property, but this doesn’t stop them shouting at you asking you to spend your money with them as you’re walking to breakfast.
Lastly, a $2 per night charge was added to our room bill with no explanation as to what this was. Turns out it was a voluntary tax to go towards tourism in St Lucia. We were not informed of this until we asked after they went to take payment from our card. While $22 isn’t a huge amount, the way Sandals approached the payment of this by making us believe it was something we had to pay, rather than being a voluntary contribution, made us ask them to remove it.

As always the staff were great, nice that people take a pride in doing their jobs well just because they do and are not (as in so many places) looking for tips. Many of the staff recognised us from previous visits and welcomed us like old friends.
A special shoutout to Christina from Kellys who went out of her way to make our stay particularly special.
So to the changes we noticed each of which enhanced our stay.
On Thursday evening there was a celebration of St Lucia and its food outside and inside Bayside.
On Wednesday afternoon there was afternoon tea on grass by Beach Bistro.
The floats in the river are much smaller, which makes it much easier for those who just want to swim.
The ladies from the spa seem much less intrusive when promoting their treatments.
Some of the road between the airport and the resort has been (slightly) improved.
Evening entertainment seemed to have upped its game from previous visits.
More generally, each meal we had was very enjoyable and it was a really nice touch that our table in Kellys had been specially decorated for our wedding anniversary. Our riverside room was in the 500 block and so was furthest away from the traffic noise, much quieter than our last stay in 800 block. It was clean, comfortable and well serviced.
Needless to say we cant wait for next year and a return visit.

The rooms were clean & well stocked with towels, toiletries, robes, etc., even umbrellas!
With so many different areas of the resort you could find more quiet places tucked away for an outdoor shady nap or be a little more lively with music & games at the main pool bar area. The direct beach access was perfect for water sports, our off resort excursion and for a few of our group members who had never been to a beach.
It was worth every penny we spent - we're already planning our next trip to our new favorite place in the Caribbean!

The food overall was very good, and we especially loved the variety of dining options. The only downside was the extremely slow service at Kelly’s for dinner — but that was a small hiccup in an otherwise amazing stay.
The staff truly made the trip unforgettable — everyone was so warm, welcoming, and genuine. The hotel itself could use a few upgrades here and there, but the charm, setting, and people more than make up for it. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a beautiful, laid-back escape!

Beautiful, Relaxing Getaway with Amazing People
Visited Sandals Halcyon Beach on a girls’ trip and had such a wonderful experience! The resort is absolutely beautiful — peaceful, calm, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. Even though we were there with friends, we still felt completely catered to and well taken care of.The food overall was very good, and we especially loved the variety of dining options. The only downside was the extremely slow service at Kelly’s for dinner — but that was a small hiccup in an otherwise amazing stay.

What cab i say it was absolutly the best holiday we have ever had. We had a club level walk out room jusy back from the beach and it was wonderful comfy bed and plenty of space in the room.
The resort is amazing, its small and feels so homley and romantic, we went to the grand for an afternoon and didnt like it, the atmosphere and the feel of Halcyon is much more to our taste.
The food is amazing, a special shout out to Soy (the sushi bar) the food is incredible and the chef and the manager are so nice and welcoming.
We went to sandals as we are Advanced Open Water divers and the all inclusive diving was a big thing for us. In 2 weeks we ended up doing 19 dives including a extra paid for night dive.
All i can say is if you are a diver go to the Halycon the dive team are absolutly amazing. A big shout out to Shelaura who booked us in straight away for every day of our vaction and was just an absolute superstar the whole time. I was sad we only got to dive with her once...but we saw a turtle so it was ok!!
Also a big shout out to Captain Mike, Martin, Hiram, Pebbles, Bubbles, Wendy, Nelson and all the rest of the fantasic team. I cant wait to come back and dive with all you guys again.
Also a big shout out to Sassy Sam who did the afternoon entertainment around the pool, we loved coming back after diving and chilling and joining in with daily activities.
If you like peaceful, romantic, beautiful resort then Halcyon is definetly for you, we will be back for sure.

Quicky got through customs and into the Sandals Lounge. Just time for a quick drink and we were on our way to the resort. It is quite a long bumpy road and took about 2hrs as we hit the traffic in Castries at rush hour.
We were greeted with smiling faces and a cold towel on arrival. A quick drink in the club house and our picked us up by our butler and taken to our room. We had booked the Butler Room with Private Pool Sanctuary 1P but think we were bumped up a level to 1BP as we had a great view of the beach.
Our butlers were Sylvie, Shaun & Leerie who were fantastic throughout our trip. Sorted our meals and excursions. Kept us hydrated with cocktails on the beach with lunch brought down when we needed it. On our anniversary they had banners on our room. Had a special lunch and dinner set up. We really did appreciate everything they did for us throughout our stay.
We usually had breakfast at the Bayside as it was all practically made ready for your plate. I did usually have an omelette by the charming Veronica. We tried Kelly's breakfast once and it did have some other items but not worth the wait as most of it was also available in the Bayside.
For lunches we chopped and changed a bit usually a Pizza or the Bistro. Patties were a firm favourite.
We ate in all the restaurant's in the evening with the exception of Soy at Halcyon and enjoyed them all. The menus don't give a massive selection but there is a plenty choice and variation. I probably enjoyed Bayside the best with the Pork and Steak being a favourite. We ate at both La Toc at La Toc and Gordons at Grande and both were delicious with La Toc being our favourite meal of the holiday. Also went to both British pubs for a drink and a little taste from home.
We parked ourselves most days on the beach. There are sellers but as long as you say no thanks they'll move on. They mostly sell small trinkets and excursions and over the 2 weeks we got a know a few of them by name. Rasta Charlie had a little stall behind where we used to sit and we loved chatting to him each day. The sea water isn't the most clear but it was warm, no sea weed and the sand was spotless as it was cleaned every day.
We did one excursion during our stay which included the chocolate factory, rum distillery and other parts of the island. It was booked through Rummie Tours before we left. We really enjoyed it, our guide was really good and a great knowledge of the islands past history, although the chocolate factory was nothing to write home about.
We also did the Cabana Day with butler at Sandals Grande. Great day. Probably the nicest beach of the 3 resorts. Harim was our butler and really looked after us throughout the day.
Finally, a special mention to Madona (with 1 n) who used to service our room perfectly each day. She was so nice and used to make us laugh when we bumped into her. Loved it when she came round specially during her busy day to say goodbye and give us a wee hug on our last day.
For us Halcyon was the perfect choice, every member of staff was so friendly from bumping into Head Chef Singh one early morning randomly outside our room to the security guard on patrol in the evening. There was enough things to do and entertain but still small enough to feel quiet. Thursday's were especially good with the Taste Of St Lucia Night, it had a real Caribbean feel. The other 2 resorts were very nice but larger. La Toc looks like it involves lots of walking up hills and Grande on the day we were at the Cabana the pool was more like spring break.

Fantastic Holiday
Not long back from a 14 day stay at Sandals Halcyon and loved every minute, Also our 1st Sandals trip.Quicky got through customs and into the Sandals Lounge. Just time for a quick drink and we were on our way to the resort. It is quite a long bumpy road and took about 2hrs as we hit the traffic in Castries at rush hour.
We were greeted with smiling faces and a cold towel on arrival. A quick drink in the club house and our picked us up by our butler and taken to our room. We had booked the Butler Room with Private Pool Sanctuary 1P but think we were bumped up a level to 1BP as we had a great view of the beach.
Our butlers were Sylvie, Shaun & Leerie who were fantastic throughout our trip. Sorted our meals and excursions. Kept us hydrated with cocktails on the beach with lunch brought down when we needed it. On our anniversary they had banners on our room. Had a special lunch and dinner set up. We really did appreciate everything they did for us throughout our stay.
We usually had breakfast at the Bayside as it was all practically made ready for your plate. I did usually have an omelette by the charming Veronica. We tried Kelly's breakfast once and it did have some other items but not worth the wait as most of it was also available in the Bayside.
For lunches we chopped and changed a bit usually a Pizza or the Bistro. Patties were a firm favourite.
We ate in all the restaurant's in the evening with the exception of Soy at Halcyon and enjoyed them all. The menus don't give a massive selection but there is a plenty choice and variation. I probably enjoyed Bayside the best with the Pork and Steak being a favourite. We ate at both La Toc at La Toc and Gordons at Grande and both were delicious with La Toc being our favourite meal of the holiday. Also went to both British pubs for a drink and a little taste from home.
We parked ourselves most days on the beach. There are sellers but as long as you say no thanks they'll move on. They mostly sell small trinkets and excursions and over the 2 weeks we got a know a few of them by name. Rasta Charlie had a little stall behind where we used to sit and we loved chatting to him each day. The sea water isn't the most clear but it was warm, no sea weed and the sand was spotless as it was cleaned every day.
We did one excursion during our stay which included the chocolate factory, rum distillery and other parts of the island. It was booked through Rummie Tours before we left. We really enjoyed it, our guide was really good and a great knowledge of the islands past history, although the chocolate factory was nothing to write home about.
We also did the Cabana Day with butler at Sandals Grande. Great day. Probably the nicest beach of the 3 resorts. Harim was our butler and really looked after us throughout the day.
Finally, a special mention to Madona (with 1 n) who used to service our room perfectly each day. She was so nice and used to make us laugh when we bumped into her. Loved it when she came round specially during her busy day to say goodbye and give us a wee hug on our last day.
For us Halcyon was the perfect choice, every member of staff was so friendly from bumping into Head Chef Singh one early morning randomly outside our room to the security guard on patrol in the evening. By the end of our trip we felt like we were part if the Sandals extended family. When rain and a brief cold tried to interrupt our trip, we were well cared for with great food, and activities were rescheduled seamlessly so we didn't miss out on any fun adventures.
Definitely a great experience and I can't wait to go back!

Took a well deserved best friend vacation to relax and enjoy the island. Would absolutely recommend booking a room with butler service. Our butler's - Onella, Pluta and Krysta treated us like royalty, made sure everything ran smoothly and that our trip was luxurious and memorable!By the end of our trip we felt like we were part if the Sandals extended family. Grounds are very nice & well-kept, & the staff were (overall) friendly, helpful with good customer service. However, they’re the only positives.
Sandals is very corporate (stupid happy clappy song upon arrival & departure – utter nonsense). It believes its name will sell itself as it continues to provide a service as per its heyday of the 1980’s/ ‘90’s, when maybe it was deemed 5* luxury. Printed details of restaurant hours, shuttle bus schedule, etc. plus physical menus. Get an app for people to use.
We were taken to the wrong room after check-in, & it took time to resolve after a long day travelling from the UK. Our room (Club walkout) was quite nice. The ventilation in the bathroom was poor & our wardrobe was in the bathroom…!!? Clothes were still damp when we we returned home. And the bathtub (not a jaccuzzi) on the patio is an attempt to offer what other brands do. But very public with just a curtain to pull across.
Club level was a waste of money, and you didn't feel as though you'd upgraded. Anyone could walk into the Club lounge whereas other brands you can only access by using your room key. There weren’t exclusive restaurant(s), bar(s), beach/pool areas, nor daily treats in the room, beach bag, complimentary spa access, etc that you receive with other brands. Resort claims it’s a low-key garden resort but only the Irie bar is open of an evening, which is next to the nightly entertainment & French Bayside restaurant. All open air, & noisy. Separate bar away from the noise if it’s low key maybe? Some people want to relax and talk of an evening.
As a vegetarian it was disappointing that only 2 of the restaurants had 1 option each for dinner, both of which were bland. I had to ask to speak to a chef in the morning to discuss what they could make for my evening meal. The chefs were helpful as was Dahlia in the Club lounge, but I should not be spending my holiday doing this. One member of staff in the Club lounge made me feel like I was a problem, and she was senior to others who were always polite. We saw others having similar problems at restaurants with their food allergies and intolerances including at The Grande St Lucian. It's not the 1990’s – there should be plenty of options for everyone. My partner said the food he had of an evening wasn’t great and variety was limited. Thank goodness for the Bombay at The Grande. Take a leaf out of The Excellence resorts book – plant-based menus in every restaurant. It’s not difficult.
Bar opening hours were a joke. The earliest opened at 10.30am. Why? People are up & on the beach, by the pool before 9am. Other resorts open at 9am. And get a coffee shop! If it wasn't for the staff at the Bistro bar (Damien & the beach waitresses were fabulous) & restaurant I would rate the resort 2 stars.
Staff do an excellent job considering that they’re working for an inferior product in comparison to other brands, and their company needs to be kicked into the 2020’s especially their dreadful website. Other brands offer suites, 24 hour in-room dining, room/resort orientation, bathrobes & slippers as standard not as a luxury extra if you pay more money.
Grand Pineapple in Antigua, which we stayed in over 10 years ago, is very similar to the Halcyon. Rooms (not the extortionate butler nonsense) & grounds are slightly better at Halcyon but the food was better in Antigua and a lot cheaper. Both the Halcyon & the Grande didn't have a wow factor, and felt dated to more modern brands.
There were other disappointing things that I could list but this would become a 2,000 word essay!
5* luxury? Definitely not. Gourmet dining? If you like bland food. Concierge redefined? Yes ...but not in a good way!! We’ll be returning to our Excellence family next year, who are significantly cheaper with a vastly superior true luxury product. Shame on you Sandals for extorting money from hard working people. I wouldn’t stay at another Sandals for the money they charge. Appalling.

Quick visit but loved it
Took a day trip from another Sandals resort on the free shuttle. One of the smaller Sandals resorts which makes everything so much more intimate. Perfect honeymoon destination. Activities by the main pool to keep you entertained, and a quiet pool for those who just want to relax in the sun. We will be back here one day for a longer stay.
