Secrets Dominican Republic Punta Cana

Nice resort. But Beach is not private. Your constantly being bothered by vendors trying to sell you merchandise. Some restaurants serve almost child like portions, the Bordeaux. I feel the preferred suite are nice,but the butler part is that great. They contact you through the WhatsApp. Not even 1 face to face check on you out the entire day. The food is okay, kinda bland.

Paradise

Secrets is a great resort to go and be able to relax with family and friends. They have an excellent selection of bars and restaurants to try out. They have plenty of pools and hang out spots. The beach is beautiful and the do a great job of keeping it clean and safe.

Diamond Hotel disappointment

Would not recommend this resort to anyone. Even another guest that has been going there for 9 yrs said it is getting worse. We were there last year in July (2024) and it was so much better. Staff was more polite and friendly. Felix was our butler and he was not at all the type of butler we had in Manuel last year. Wish we could have him again. The wait staff in the restaurants were so unorganized. The food was cold and under cooked. They don't listen when you tell them what you want. The wait staff around the pool that wasn't close to the pool bar, you may see twice otherwise your getting your own drinks. We had met others there and were almost late to check out and get their ride to the airport because they were to pick up their luggage at 1030 am and no one showed up. We learned by that to ask for it early. This is a diamond hotel and the condition of the room and wifi was disappointing. Always asking for the wifi to be fixed, when they said it was fixed, it became worse. Always struggled to have wifi in the room. Our butler Felix at first told us that some rooms had dead spots. Well thats not true because it would work in the daytime but at night hard to get a connection. Then when they tried to fix it, then day time became worse. We had a end room and when it rained there was always pools of water in the hallway. Had to be extremely careful when leaving the room not to slip. Had to even ask that someone come clean it up. We are UVC members and would not recommend buying into the UVC family. Unless you pay extra to upgrade, they dont give you anything special. You get the same rooms, food and service as everyone else gets. As Canadians it absolutely is not worth the $$$. Also room service was messy, we didn't order any, but there was always plates and food left in the hallways. Animals got into it. Such a disgusting mess.

We've stayed at the Secrets Cap Cana, our thoughts are maybe they should go see how they are there. Staff, food and overall experience there is 100x better than Royal Beach.

Not quite the experience we expected .. Preferred Club Upgraders

I’m currently staying at this resort. Having paid upon arrival for the upgrade to the preferred club, we were advised that this would give us an abundance of additional perks that non-preferred would not have (which was what we originally had booked). They managed to convince me to upgrade so after paying a very hefty 4 figure sum, we were taken to our room in the preferred club section. The room is lovely - no complaints, however we are very disappointed to see that there are no controls over non-preferred guests entering the preferred only sections throughout the resort. As no one is given any sort of band to differentiate between the two, you can walk into any area you please, without having to pay for the upgrade. I feel like I have completely wasted my money. I do not blame the non-preferred guests from trying their luck, which is obviously working due to the lack of controls by staff not stopping to check if you are a preferred guest when entering the areas - however this is very disappointing when you have paid a large Sam for such privileges that are being shared by those that have not paid anything additional. We were told that staff would be checking at checkpoints before you entered the preferred club areas however we have been here for three days already and have not been asked once, or seen any other guests being asked. One morning I entered the preferred club pool area and stopped to ask the guy on the stand if he needed my room number or anything and he said ‘na go on through’. I also have found service to be very hit and miss at this result which I have not experienced in any other secrets that I have stayed at. You have to ask for a drink multiple times before you get it - and even basic things like milk with your coffee in the morning we have struggled to get after asking more than once :( the same goes for food in the preferred club area we had breakfast and we served something different to what we ordered and the sides that we requested never came. We have also been met on many occasions with very miserable staff members who look like they would rather be anywhere but working here 🤦🏻‍♀️ which is sad to see.
The service is most definitely not five star, but the result is beautiful nonetheless.
Moral of the story from my experience thus far, do not pay for the upgrade as it is not worth it, unless you are happy to pay a four figure sum simply for a nicer room.

Terrible Experience - Will Never Go Back!

This resort was a complete disappointment from start to finish. The food was disgustingly bland, cold, and completely flavorless. Even the “fancy” restaurants served the same low-quality meals dressed up on different plates. My food literally came out burnt, I was shocked.

The drinks were watered down and tasted horrible, and good luck getting what you actually order. They claim to serve top-shelf liquor in the Preferred lounge, but most of the time it’s cheap substitutes.

The staff was shockingly unprofessional, rude, dismissive, and clearly tired of dealing with guests. Check-in was chaos, full of confusion and hidden charges. It felt like no one there had any idea what they were doing.

For what we paid, this place should’ve felt like luxury. Instead, it felt like a scam. I would never return and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. There are far better resorts in Punta Cana that actually care about their guests.

Great resort

Very clean, friendly and plenty to eat. Carlos, our butler was excellent getting anything we needed. Pools clean along with the beach. Plenty of chairs and umbrella’s. Will definitely go back!

Awesome Staff at Secrets Royal Beach

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Secrets Royal Beach. Greeted by Jokeyama, Dani Herández and our butler, Alfredo, in the Preferred Club Lounge, we were appreciative to receive a room upgrade with other perks, 2 Bali beds, a special dinner in the Wine Cellar and new friendships. Jokeyama was prepared for us as my requests were mentioned and fulfilled. She is competent in her job while being friendly and kind. This was our third time meeting Dani. He welcomed and invited us to an upcoming VIP event. Hopefully, we’ll be able to attend. Alfredo, Butler Exceptional, sent daily updates of the resort’s activities along with special morning greetings for the day. Reservations were made by him to the spa, the restaurants, the Bali beds and wherever we needed. He would find us throughout the resort and to check in to see if all was great with our room, service, etc. With his engaging personality, it was a pleasure to see him daily. Others I wish to mention are those working in the restaurants. Charmina, the singing hostess, Julio Arias, he went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed by arranging dinner reservations and ensuring all was well at our table. Humberto, Coral, and Neftaly were superb in being attentive at each restaurant. An awesome staff in every area made this trip memorable.

Another amazing stay at Secrets Royal Beach

This is our 6th times at this resort and we have visited many others but this is our favorite! It feels like home.
Big shout out to 3 amazing butlers : Brian, Alfredo and Julio and also to Yoyo at the quiet pool and Angel at the main pool. Lastly the best drinks are at the lobby bar! And the entire staff is amazing and Alexander.

A worthy vacation!

The hotel service, food and excursions made for an experience of a lifetime! If granted the opportunity, I would consider another visit to Secrets Royal Beach.

First All Inclusive experience and we will definitely be back!

This was our very first experience at an All Inclusive resort and we were definitely not disappointed! We stayed in a Preferred Club Partial Ocean View room and really appreciated the proximity to all of the Preferred amenities and view of the ocean. I can tell you that the workers here really make this place! Always smiling, ready to help and eager to make your stay feel like home.
Did we encounter an off meal a couple times? Sure! But you just kindly asked for something else, or got a snack later on...no big deal. We only visited the buffet once, and I don't think I would have liked eating there all week for breakfast and lunch. I really enjoyed Olio for both breakfast and lunch on the Preferred side. We also really enjoyed the Preferred quiet pools vs. the main pool. Not as loud and I felt like there was more shade too.
I can say not a fan of the vendors that try to sell there goods on the beach. Yes, they do move along if you say no, but still annoying while on vacation.
My biggest two pieces of advice would be to just ask, they will do anything to make your stay a memorable one. Sometimes you just need to tell them what you would like. Secondly, don't rely on the weather apps. It said it was going to rain each day and it only rained twice for 10 minutes each our whole week. I worried the whole week before vacation for absolutely nothing. Wonderful resort, wonderful staff! Tell Almonte, Nathaniel, Rander, Carlos, Celenia, Lady and Medallia we said hi! We will definitely be back!

Horrible experience.

Room conditions are horrible. Maintenance does not keep up with the property. You will get harrassed by random vacation/ time-share people within the hotel lobby. Staff barely knows english and can have an attitude. Save your money for a better quality resort.

Amazing holiday from start to finish.

Amazing holiday from start to finish. Hotel, food , staff, entertainment and all the surrounded absolutely stunning. All staff more than happy to help, especially the pool , barman - Medallia (Aka lady) . Nothing was ever too much trouble, regardless of the heat or how long the working day was. Would highly recommended for anyone looking for their dream holiday.

Wonderful stay.

Absolutely fabulous week. Great variety of food in different restaurants. Always staff on hand, whether that be the restaurant, the beach, the entertainment staff. There are premium alcohol brand on offer in the bars- Aperol, Bombay sapphire, jack Daniels despite what other reviews say. Coffee shop in the lobby are extremely generous with their measures. Really difficult to find fault albeit the house wine is what you’d expect- just house wine. There are a better selection for purchase. Entertainment staff kept me occupied yoga, dancing, volleyball etc. special mention to Francis the tennis instructor- my tennis has improved as result- what a great guy he is. The hawkers on the beach are irritating- that’s nothing to do with the hotel. As I say in my title - wonderful week.

Amazing resort and people. I Love Punta Cana!!

All the employees at the resort were very nice and hospitable. They made u feel like family. The resort was clean and the pools were amazing. Beautiful beach!! Can’t wait to go back.

Secrets Royal Beach- Anniversary Trip

Our experience at Secrets Royal Beach was fantastic. We went for our one year anniversary and decided to get the Preferred Club upgrade (so incredibly worth it). Our butler, Alfredo, texted us each morning to explain what was happening for the day and made sure to personally check in one or two times throughout the day to fill in the cracks of our stay so we didn't have to. He was also incredibly genuine and talked to us about Dominican culture, music, cities, and more. He really boosted our trip so much.
The Preferred Club was so worth the upgrade. 2-3 extra pools, 3 extra bars, private beach area, upgraded amenities, and better food...what's not to love? The food in almost all of the restaurants was great and all of the staff were very friendly.

Special shout-outs to Fany Luz, Balon, Sebastian, Obispo, Alfredo, Carlos, and Deylin who worked so incredibly hard to make everyone feel welcomed, safe, and attended to. Despite the hurricane, everyone made our one year anniversary perfect.
