Food cold

I’m currently staying at the Royalton Splash Hotel and wanted to share an honest review.

Before booking, I looked at reviews and saw many negative comments about the food and people becoming unwell, which made me hesitant. I contacted TUI, who told me they’d had no complaints and that changing hotels would mean paying full price, so I decided to go ahead.

First impressions:
On the first night, the food was much better than expected — roast beef, gammon, pork, turkey, smoked salmon, lobster, and fresh bread. I was pleasantly surprised and thought the reviews might have been unfair.

However, it quickly went downhill.
After a couple of days, the food became repetitive and mostly cold. Smoked salmon and bacon disappeared from breakfast, and dishes like scrambled eggs, beans, and mashed potatoes were barely warm. Soups were kept over tea lights, which don’t maintain safe temperatures. I was also served undercooked chicken more than once.

I reported these issues to both the Royalton complaints team and the TUI tour rep, who said they would sort it out — but nothing was done. A complete waste of time. I also saw chefs handling raw and cooked food without changing gloves, which raised serious hygiene concerns.

Service & facilities:
Dining room service was poor; staff often chatted or used their phones instead of offering drinks.

Positives:
The entertainment team is fantastic — friendly, energetic, and great with guests. The drinks are excellent too, with top-shelf brands available throughout the resort, so the VIP Gold package isn’t worth paying extra for.

Room service was disappointing: cold food and incorrect orders, and the menu doesn’t match what’s actually served.

Overall:
The entertainment and drinks are the highlights, but the food quality, hygiene, and service need serious improvement. Complaining to both Royalton and TUI made no difference. Until these issues are properly addressed, I wouldn’t return or recommend this hotel.

Relaxing week at the beach

We had a great vacation! It's truly what you make of it. If you look for the negative, you will see it. If you choose to find the joy and the positive, it will be great! The resort was beautiful and relaxing, the beach was just perfect. We enjoyed our butler Kelvin thru the DC experience. He was very attentive and kind.

Family Vacation

We traveled to Punta Canta for our Fall Family vacation. The Royalton Splash was a beautiful resort. It was very clean and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We paid the extra to have Diamond Club. We are very glad we did because there were many things around the resort you couldn't do without diamond club. Our Butler Kelvin was very helpful. Kelvin checked in daily and made sure we had dinner reservations daily for a time that worked for our family. He was also very helpful when 4 out of the 5 of us got sick. He made sure we had what we needed. The kids loved seeing him around the resort and he always made sure to stop and talk to the kids and see how everyone was!

The entertainment was great. The entertainment staff was very energetic and kept everyone having a good time. The kids loved the music at the pool and the foam party in the pools. The nightly entertainment was great but starting at 9 was a little late for the kids.

The food was okay. We enjoyed the steakhouse and the Mexican restaurant. The Hibachi was the best restaurant as our chef and waiter provided great entertainment! Room service was terrible every time we ordered. By the time we got it the food was completely cold.

The downfalls of the trip included things included in the diamond club never being offered or happening. We had to ask for everything diamond club perks were not just given. (Welcome sparkling wine, in suite wine or fine liquors, beach bag, fruit, turn down services, etc!) In the Water park multiple water slides were down the majority of the trip. The service when things were requested in the room was very slow. It took several hours when we requested extra towels as our room still hadn't been cleaned by 5:00. When we requested for minibar to be restocked it also took several hours and multiple requests to the Butler and him also asking. The worst part was when my daughter got sick in bed in the middle of the night. It took 3 phone calls and over 90 minutes to finally get new sheets for the bed. These services taking so much time were very frustrating.

Overall we had a good vacation and would recommend this resort. Hopefully the timeliness of room services improve for future guests.

Upgrade to Daimond Club

Nice Family place, good service for a A+ vacation if recommend upgrade to the Daimond Club, the service provid by Jairon was outstanding above and beyond.

Genuine Service with Passion: Thank You, Edwin!

This is our second time at the Royalton splash Punta Cana. We had a good time and can say that our Butler Edwin did everything possible to ensure that we were well and provided the highest level of customer service. He checked in on us daily and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible.

We felt that his efforts of booking restaurants, spa, shopping trips etc was really good. You can see he was genuine person and cannot complain about anything. He does his job with passion. Thank you Edwin. Royalton staff in general were great, the restaurants/ bars etc.

Excellent

We were celebrating 50 years of marriage and Jairon made the whole experience very memorable. He was always available and made sure all our needs and desires were met. Couldn't have asked for a better Butler. He actually assisted some of our party that were not assigned to him. He had is all on a group chat so we were well informed at all times. Excellent job Jairon.

Good Vacation with Highlights and Some Areas to Improve at Royalton Splash Punta Cana Dimond Club

We stayed for one week at the Royalton Splash Punta Cana (Diamond Club). Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but there’s room for improvement.

The atmosphere is livelier and more enjoyable at the Royalton Punta Cana, which shares the same property and is fully accessible to Splash guests, especially since the beach is located there. It’s about a 5-minute walk between the two resorts — a nice little exercise.

The rooms at Splash are spacious, but the interior lighting is quite dim. The Diamond Club package is worth it — the minibar is restocked with soft drinks and beer, and you also get access to better services. However, room service was inconsistent: some days the bed was made, but the floor wasn’t cleaned or towels weren’t replaced.

The food was good, especially at the Royalton buffet, though at peak hours there were occasional shortages of plates and staff, which made it difficult for them to handle larger groups like ours (we were 11 people). The best coffee can be found at the gelato café — highly recommended!

If you don’t pick up your beach towels early in the morning, you might not find any later in the day. Fresh towels usually arrive at the beach around 7:45 a.m. The beach itself is quite small due to erosion, and sandbags have been placed to prevent further damage — not very scenic, but understandable.

I definitely recommend choosing the Diamond Club package to simplify reservations, logistics, and other small hassles. Our butler Edwin was AMAZING — 10/10! And special thanks to Rogiro, the beach attendant, who was always helpful and attentive.

That said, both resorts would truly benefit from stronger management and leadership to raise the overall service consistency to the level expected of advertised 5-star experience.

Mexican Restaurant Amazing

5 stars for the Mexican Restaurant, we had wonderful service, excellent food and great atmosphere during our visit. Delaney and Alvaro were so attentive during our meal. Thank you so much!!!! Highly recommend

Great time!

We had a blast at Royalton Splash in Punta Cana! This was a great trip for the price!
Our trip included checked luggage and transfers.

We were picked up at the airport in a timely fashion with clear direction.
We were diamond club and check in was easy. We requested Edwin Berroa due to Facebook recommendations and we were very happy with his service!

He showed us our room and let us know that we only had a king bed and a sofa bed and did offer alternatives. When we got to our assigned room, a cot was added for a 4th bed and my kids were glad to have their own beds.
We communicated with Edwin via WhatsApp and because of the great wifi, we were able to stay in communication. Edwin always gave us our preferred restaurant reservations and always checked in with us to ensure we had our needs met.

Our king bed was comfortable. There are shampoo, conditioner and body wash supplied. We did bring our own, so can’t speak to how good it was.

Our balcony did not have a great way to dry our wet swimsuits but Edwin escalated and ensured that our wet clothes were dried every day.

Edwin would always follow up with me to ensure that I received things that were requested, and if I didn’t receive, then he would follow up with the housekeeping staff.

We did have some ants in our balcony that made it into the room, but Edwin had addressed it by providing options and alternative rooms. We stayed in our room with no further issues.

We were also celebrating my son’s 10th birthday and Edwin arranged for some special decorations and a delicious cake that was brought to Zen restaurant. My son felt so special!

It did rain constantly, but that is the time of year and DR was near Hurricane Melissa so it was expected.

The beach had soft sand but was not the nicest looking beach due to the barriers that were visible on the beach to protect the shore. If you walk to the left or right of the beach, you will find more beautiful and aesthetic beach front.

The grounds of the resort are kept well. The people who worked there work very hard to ensure that the rain water was redirected to the best of their abilities.

The Splash park with the slides was great fun for all. My kids went every day! There were plenty of shaded areas as well. The wave pool was fun.

The splash park could have better gripped grounds as it does get quite slippery. Bring water shoes!

There are many large pools to choose from, my kids enjoyed the pools nearest to the Beach (Royalton PC side).

The bars were great and the staff were very attentive. They also sang and cheered for my son on his birthday.

The best restaurants were Zen and Grazie. The lasagna is delicious at Grazie! Grazie was very warm. Jade was yummy as well.

The buffet on the Splash side was just ok.

The buffet on the PC side was better and had more options. Although, I saw a lady use her thumb to take excess peanut butter off the communal spoon :|

If you like coffee, please know they don’t have cream. Bring some coffee mate with you!

With that said, the ice coffee was good, but not consistent. My kids enjoyed the sugar donuts.

The score bar and grill was fine, but it took very long to have food served. Probably 45 minutes before we received our order. The food was very fresh when we received it though.
You will have faster service at the Punta Cana sit down restaurants compared at the Score.

Bites was a great option close to the water park where you will get fresh fries and burgers.

You will not go hungry!

We did go their sales pitch for vacation membership, but found them pushy. We did receive a day pass for Royalton Bavaro - beautiful.

Entertainment was fine. Magic show was fun for the kids. Michael Jackson show was great, and the pre-show was hilarious.

There was family bingo that was also fun.

The foam party at the pool was fun as well.

We did use room service on the last day, and it was timely.

Overall, this was a great vacation for the price. Diamond Club is a great option to have the butler service and access to the PC restaurants.

Recommendations: to have shower door frosted for privacy and a drying rack on the balcony to dry the wet swimsuits.

DR vs Mexico

So far it’s been a great trip.
We typically go to Mexico but decided to try something different.
To sum up the big differences between the two; Dominican drinks are stronger and the sun is hotter! Beach is great too here.
Mexicans markets are less pushy and people are more friendly and speak better English outside of main staff here in DR.
As for the resort I have read bad reviews. I am not easy to please but I don’t get the complaints. Can I post a pic of a broken tile in The pool? Yes. Is that going to ruin my vacation. No. It’s a 30 year old resort.
Mexican restaurant was delicious and the lunch buffet at the Marche had a salad bar that was fantastic.
We had Sidney for our butler and he was great.
Very helpful and friendly.
Lots of walking (get your steps in!) but a taxi if you want to wait.
Not regretting trying something new. Was worried at first but pleasantly surprised!

Punta Cana Ruyalton "is the best"

Wonderful stay at the Royalton Punta Cana Splash Hotel.
We are so happy with our hotel, our room, the beach, all the bars, and especially the service! The buffet at Splash was excellent, and the service exceeded all our expectations!

Very good value and a great timr

Pool and water park, excellent.
