Loud music until 3 am. Needs maintenance.

Stayed two nights on a tour. Beachfront hotel within walking distance of several restaurants and shops. Extremely noisy location, with loud music blaring across the pool all day long and nearby clubs playing loud music until 3 am. There is no soundproofing whatsoever - thin walls, poorly sealed doors (see photo). Ear plugs and white noise are a must.
My room was quite large. Upon arrival, the A/C was off and the room was very hot. The ceiling fan didn't work. The hotel staff looked at it and said they would come back to fix it, but never did.
Power sockets were inconveniently located (behind the bed, etc.) and all occupied. Had to unplug the TV to plug in my devices.
Comfortable bed and pillows.
Decent size bathroom. Shower with good water pressure, but the first night the water was just lukewarm (it was hot the second night).
Minimal or no wifi in the room.
Breakfast served quickly (unusual in Jamaica, where service is usually very slow) from buffet, and omelettes made to order.

Merrills 2 all-inclusive.. was it a good idea to stay at this hotel ?

Stayed all-inclusive for a week and had a great experience..
Room large and clean with lots of wardrobe space , nice comfortable bed with clean linen changed daily .
Bathroom clean and shower with lots of hot water .
What more can you ask for ?
Lovely dining area that serves breakfast lunch and dinner buffet style with a bar open 10.pm and coffee available all night.
Very nice pool area and an awesome beach on the Seven Mile strip..
Lots of deckchairs are put out by security every morning with clean towels provided.
This hotel is an ideal hotel for all travellers as your needs are fully catered for.
Big shout out to Michael ( owner ) Charlie,
Sidene , Rachel (catering ), and Veronica (housekeeping ).
And all the other great staff at this wonderful hotel that helped to make our stay such a memorable one.

Merrils 2 Honest review!

We have traveled extensively to negril over 30 years. Like all resorts there are the good and bad. merrils 2 is a budget all-inclusive that has a number of repeaters and large # of Europeans. The food is mostly Jamaican fare buffet and drinks are not top shelf.Pluses are the friendliness of the staff , many have been there for years. A big thank you to Charlie and Barbara on the waite staff and Diago who kept the grounds immaculate. Also to our housekeeper Natasha who would take care of anything you needed. There are plenty of beach lounges and shade trees so no need to reserve early morning. There is a small convenience store next door and Drifters Bar for music lovers.
There are few things I wish were available. There is no bar with stools, I like to meet new people at happy hour before dinner. A section of the dining room next the bar service area has tables and chairs and would make a good area to watch sporting events with a group but there is only a 19inch tv . There is live entertainment a couple nights a week but can get loud at times since they start at dinner time. A beach grill would be nice for a burger, even once a week would be nice. I think at their price point it is a great choice for Negril

OK but won't come again

I might be taking a chance here but we are here right now. The staff are wonderful, the beach is beautiful but...the first night we didn't have a room and had to stay in a very small room in another resort that they own. However the water in the room sometimes quits working completely so no showers to be had. Management just says that they are working on it day after day. Hopefully it works before we leave.

A great 10 days to celebrate our 50th Anniversary.

I gave the resort a 5 out of 5 even though my wife said the bed was too hard ( I love a hard bed). We stayed in one of the ocean view suites. If I was comparing to one of the bigger expensive resorts, of course it would not be a five. We have been to those resorts and far prefer a smaller one like Merrils. Rooms are a bit dated but very clean. Had a problem with our air-conditioning dripping ( new heat pump style ) it was fixed immediately.
The beach is great with plenty of shady trees, tons of beach chairs. The food was excellent. You don't get 10 options like the bigger resorts, you get two or three. The home made soups at lunch and dinner were to die for. Lorenzo, the chef, was always there to make sure everything was good. The Red Stripe was always cold and the blended drinks were good. What really made our trip was the staff, they were so welcoming and truly wanted you to feel welcome and have a good time. Again, don't go there expecting all the luxury of the big resorts, go there to have a great time and truly enjoy Jamaica.

Merrill’s on the Beach - 2nd time visiting

Our 2nd stay at Merrill’s resort on the beach and we had a great time.

We had ground floor room that was big enough for 3 ladies - lots of closet and drawer space!

The food and drink was very good! It’s buffet style for all meals with plenty of food options to please everyone.

Right on the beach with plenty of beach chairs and shade if needed.

Staff is welcoming and friendly and will go above and beyond to make your trip special. I requested some bread pudding cake and the pastry cook made me one. It was amazing!

We highly recommend Merrill’s on the Beach side!

Home to home

Was in two minds about going as read some of the reviews am glad I went along with my sister the staff were all really friendly it was like home to home 2 many names to mention we have stayed in quite afew hotels in Jamaica some even 5* but we would love to go bk to merrills have been looking for December but all rooms are taken which is a pity

Fab location

Best part of Merrils is their amazing staff especially Charlie, Lanai, Arvel and Leon.
Fantastic location right on the beach close to great nightlife and food options . Also few minutes walk to Times Square shopping mall but has a great little shop right next door.
Rooms are spacious and cleaned to a high standard.

Most relaxing stay

Right on the beach, sandy shore, great place to swim. The accommodations were very nice, roomy and clean. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The best relaxing trip we have had. The friendliness of everyone working there made it grand.

Best Resort & Staff

Merril's felt like a home away from home with a totally beautiful view of the ocean.(ocean we don't have at home) My husband and I visited for our 24th anniversary, we happened to mention this to a staff member and he asked if we wanted something special for dinner we told him and next day Chef came to us with pen and notepad and even made us a special dessert.
Chef! Dessert was lovely.
We were delightful with all of the staff we met, particularly Trevor, Barbara, Glen, Lena, Lurlene Kevin and many others. We enjoyed the food and looked forward for soup of the day. Lurlene kept our room clean and was very pleasant. We had a wonderful vacation and is looking forward for another trip.

NEVER AGAIN * RESORT NIGHTMARE

I have stayed at this resort a few times, that was before Covid19, I considered it my go to place, felt safe being alone as there was 24 hour security. Upon arrival I was taken to my room, nice room but the AC was not cooling properly or to my standards, I reported the AC three days on the third request I was then moved to another room. The second room had a great AC and worked as I expected as I stated I have been to this same resort 4 times. The second room was great until it came time for a shower, I had no hot water, which is vital. I reported the water issue 3 times the first day (which was my 4th day of 7), the second day I requested hot water twice, no one ever came to repair the hot water. The last 3 days at the resort I took my 4th Cold shower, upon returning to the US, I was ill with a terrible due to the circumstances of a hot room and cold showers. As I recall the food was always good, I realized that things were much different at the resort and truely most surroundings were empty and still recovering from Covid 19. To add more misery to the stay, there was no TV available for the entire trip, yet each day a promise that it would be fixed by the next day never came. A few nights the power was run by generators, I paid good money for this trip and was so horribly unhappy.
I will not be visiting this resort again, I was so disappointed with my accomadations at Merrils Beach Resort II and would not recommend family or friends.

BEST Vacay and hidden gem!!!

Best vacay and exceptional value for a smaller all inclusive resort. The staff were the highlight of the resort and made our stay special. Charlie took care of us and made sure we had anything we needed. He greeted us everyday with a high smile. The front desk staff Ms Leonie made our checkin smooth and Ms Krystal with the cleaning staff kept our rooms clean and tidy. Chef Lorenzo prepared us a special grilled lobster meal on our last night….yumm!!! He is the best. The daily meals were very tasty and delicious. Of course the liquor was bottom shelf but we made it work, and easy to purchase any drink preferences at the Hi-Lo grocery store near by. Tip: buy your liquor duty-free at the airport upon arrival…it’s MUCH cheaper. We can’t wait to go back!! LOVVEE this hidden gem. Thank you Merrils 2!!

A Gem of a place

My second visit to this wonderful resort. I really appreciate the local flavor at Merrils. The atmosphere is great. There are quite a few return visitors from all over. Yes, the water pressure and hot water can be an issue, at times. The food, especially the soups, are delicious. The food is basic but very tasty.
The staff was always very friendly and helpful.
I look forward to returning for another visit.Hidd

Small resort, great vibes 🇯🇲

We visited Merrill’s in February 2025, this resort is small, they have done some renovations since our last visit. Rooms are basic but we only sleep in our rooms. Nice balcony overlooking the resort. Food was good with updates to the menu. All staff members are fantastic, from seeing Diego’s smiling face every morning greeting you. The staff at the front office great service always. The bar staff Marlin is the best. Barbara and Charlie in the dining room always on top of things. Miss twins, ( my name for her) , fabulous lady, Narda ? Fabulous service at the bar. The young gentlemen and young lady at the egg station where amazing and friendly. And I have to mention our housekeeper Natasha always has a smile on her face and our room was cleaned daily. And Veronica who we meet 4 years ago always happy to see us when we return. This trip to Merrill’s was absolutely the best one yet. Already booked for next year 🇯🇲

Good Time

This was our 2nd time at Merrill’s, we had a great time. Rooms were good, food was good, staff was great. I do wish they wore name tags so we would know who they were. Not a huge beach, but plenty of shade if that’s what you want. Food did get a little repetitious, but we were there 3 weeks. This is not a large fancy all inclusive, but it meets our needs.
The only complaint we have, and this is not Merrill’s fault, is Kenny’s Italian Restaurant across the street. At least one night a week they have some kind of party with extremely loud music until 3 or 4 in the morning. Our room just about shook with the boom boom boom.

Best vacation ever!!

Fab place! Recommend it for sure! Food is good, rooms cannot be faulted, bar staff always friendly and up for a chat. Weather and views are something else! Entertainment team amazing! MJ is a star, nothing is too much and always positive! Come back soon.

THIEVES!!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! A month after my check out, i still haven't received the $200 refund, for the security deposit of two rooms.
Impossible to contact the resort, since the website address is wrong, and for whats app they gave me a short and elusive answer. THIEVES!!
