Exceptional Staff!!

What started out as not so welcoming an experience turned around into a wonderful and memorable experience thanks to the efforts of one individual that I want to specifically highlight - the assistant guest services manager, Ines! She took the time to go out of her way to give us (a group of 15 plus 4 kids under 5) special attention and make this a memorable trip. Too many people to thank as well Mr. Alejandro Garrido, director food and beverages, Chef Galván, Chef Roberto, Habier in the restaurant Supreme. Wish the mix up didn’t happen at Matsui on the last day but thank you all again! Hope to see you in the renovated Majestic soon!!

I'd return tomorrow if I could

English family here, we stayed early August for 10 days and absolutely loved our experience at the Majestic Colonial and I was not asked by a single member of staff to write any of the below. We booked a regular stay and had nothing to do with the club/member's side.

Everything from check in right through to departure was fantastic and we felt lucky to have this holiday and stayed here, despite my hours spent on TripAdvisor before we booked!

Staff were fantastic and nearly everyone went above and beyond, smiled and said Hola, the entertainment staff in particular are out in the heat from 8/9am right up to midnight and there is always something going on for all ages, the manager 'I Love My Job' was especially brilliant as was Cristina in the children's entertainment part of the hotel. The staff are constantly cleaning the grounds, the beach and the restaurants.

Food exceeded my expectations, anyone who complains about the food must only ever eat at mitchelin starred restaurants, there is something for everyone here and I have a vegetarian wife and fussy children and none of us struggled, they even have hummus (to the poster below who said they didn't, you must have missed it) We ate at every restaurant other than the French which is adult only; the beach restaurants are both amazing but the best for us was the Japanese experience.

Drinks also brilliant, never had to wait long and you often get table and poolside service, even without a tip but it really does go a long way.

Rooms were large, not particularly modern but our air conditioning was great, beds were comfortable but small and it was quiet other than the late night passers by. Jacuzzi tub was a nice addition, large shower, separate toilet, balcony and all the amenities you could ask for. Our maid cleaned the room daily to a good standard.

No hotel is perfect, if I had to pick faults they would be..

Seaweed - Really is bad on most days, didn't stop us going in the sea but not great to have to look at and walk through, they do try to clean but it's a losing battle.

Kid's Slides - Most of the slides don't have enough water coming down them to allow kids to actually slide down, ours and other kids had to shuffle down pretty much all of them after getting stuck on the dryness of the slide, there are also lots of trees around these pools which covered them in leaves and debris and it just always felt messy here, probably good for kids around 3 - 7 but older kids would quickly get bored.

Market Sellers - One night they had a street market full of stalls which looked really nice but as we got near they all start shouting after you and trying to pull you in to look at their items, reminded me of markets in Morocco, Turkey and Thailand I have been to, where I expect that but this caught me off guard as we were meant to be in a relaxing hotel environment. Their tactics worked anyway and they put a necklace on my daughter which she loved and then wouldn't take it off, they didn't accept any haggling and I ended up paying 25 dollars (yes mainly my fault) however it broke apart the next day and of course they are long gone. I just feel like hotel management need to take responsibility for these vendors, I'd have quite happily looked at each stall if I hadn't been aggressively approached. Just made me want to get through it!

Other than the above this was a fantastic holiday, I'd go back tomorrow and would also be keen to try the Elegance which we were told by a few families is even better than the Colonial.

Last thing is that you can visit the neighbouring Royalton Splash Hotel's waterpark for a daily charge (managed to get them down to $95 per person for the day but they originally wanted $125. This is a much larger waterpark and you can use their restaurants and bars included in that price which makes it alot cheaper than the main Punta Cana El Dorado waterpark we looked at visiting which would have been over $500 just for entry alone.

Closed Amenities, Unusable Beach, Zero Customer Service

My husband and I stayed at Colonial Majestic for our honeymoon, and our experience was extremely disappointing. What was advertised as an “all-inclusive” resort was far from it. Multiple restaurants, buffets and bars were closed without disclosure, and pools began shutting down during our stay as well. On top of that, tractors from the neighboring Majestic resort dumped seaweed onto our beach, making it completely unusable and preventing us from accessing the water. This information was not disclosed/advertised when booking.

This is not the experience we paid for or were promised. It felt misleading at best, and false advertising at worst. I reached out directly after our stay to request a refund, but I have received no response and no accountability.

If you are considering staying here, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. The property did not deliver on what was advertised, and the lack of customer service afterward only added to the frustration. Save your money and go somewhere that actually delivers on what they promise.

Needs improvement

The resort is a beautiful place and room service is very good. However, food service needs improvement. The restaurant was suddenly closed for maintenance even though we were told it was open. Breakfast is only available until 10 AM, but the hotel and room service say until 11 AM – and delivery takes about an hour. Great stay overall, but food and timing management should be better.

An unsatisfactory experience during the entire trip

Dear Majestic Colonial Customer Care

I am writing to formally express our disappointment with the vacation package you booked for us at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana from August 15 to August 22, 2025. While our trip began on a positive note, our overall experience was far from the quality we expected or were promised.

The first three days were enjoyable, though even then we encountered issues. Our shower stall and sink were blocked from the start of our stay, and despite reporting it, the problem was never resolved. Additionally, on our very first day, we requested a change of linen as the bed was not properly made and appeared soiled. Unfortunately, this request was only attended to after two nights.

From that point onward, matters deteriorated significantly. According to the resort’s own website, scheduled renovations were not to begin until October. However, during our stay, access to multiple facilities was suddenly restricted without notice. Bars, the beach, and several restaurants were shut down, and eventually even the pool was closed. Out of the five advertised restaurants, only one remained open.

The food quality at the remaining restaurant was extremely poor, often appearing recycled and far from fresh. At the French restaurant, the only vegetarian option for my son and me (apart from a simple salad) was fried eggs and two small slices each of grilled eggplant and zucchini—hardly an acceptable offering for a resort of this standard.

Other issues further compounded our dissatisfaction:

Despite repeated requests, our in-room snacks were not replenished until the evening before our departure.

On the day of departure, we twice asked for help with our luggage and received no assistance, forcing us to carry it ourselves.

Our assigned butler provided no meaningful support throughout our stay.

We later discovered that other guests were offered access to amenities at the adjacent Majestic Elegance, yet this courtesy was never extended to us.

Adding to all of this, the overall atmosphere of the resort was disheartening—the staff’s demeanor was visibly sad and disengaged, which further diminished the experience.

This trip was booked and paid for in good faith with the expectation of a relaxing, enjoyable vacation. Instead, what we experienced fell far below acceptable standards. I kindly request that you review our case with the resort and pursue appropriate compensation on our behalf.

I look forward to your prompt response and to a resolution that reflects the seriousness of this matter.

Best experience ever felt like I was with family the entire time.

The greatest experience Ismael bartender was awesome very respectful and funny guy . Karin omg making sure our stay was great checking on us telling us where was the party all the time. Cleaning staff 10 out of 10 super clean and so adorable. The entertainer people love it they have the cutest smile dancing with everyone the shows were amazing food was super good especially suchi bar 😋😋

Absolutely horrible place. A Horrible time and no accountability!

It’s with a heavy heart that I write this. I am not a negative person and try to find the good in everyone and in everything. However with that being said, I feel that our experience needs to be shared. We booked and paid for our trip in full 8 months in advance, and thought we were diligent with our research.Our stay was from 7/31-8/6. I only got to enjoy 18 hours on the resort. We prepaid for a very expensive room we never got. Should have been on the “Club side”..*We had paperwork and confirmations with us and showed to the resort staff at check in* We were placed on the “Family side” of the resort, we do not have young children. Our grown children and spouses were placed on the “Club side”. My best friend flew in from Michigan, to celebrate my birthday. Thankfully they were in the correct room, and on the “Club side” So WHY would we be placed on the “Family side”?? I got horrible food poisoning the first night, (Birthday dinner)and lived off crackers and bottled water for the next four days. I couldn’t even get room service to bring me something as simple as toast. Never have I ever been that sick! It took almost three weeks to get reservations at the hibachi restaurant, as we were a party of eight. At one point, we were even locked out of our room, the maintenance dept had to remove and reprogram the door. Then later our bracelets. There was Black mold in our room, hallways, restaurant and salon bathroom..
The final straw as we’re eating dinner on our last night there, I finally started keeping food down, as we started to eat, a giant hissing cockroach FELL from the celing almost hitting me in the head. Followed by another crawling out of the wall from behind a curio cabinet. Upon checking out, hotel staff casually told us they would be closing soon for “remodeling, renovations, repairs & housekeeping.”In other words, they KNEW their resort had issues before we even arrived. That amount of work doesnt happen overnight, and a plan is put in place for it to happen. Yes this resort is supposed to be a 5 star resort and has a great social media following, however after reading other posts and comments previously posted, they confirm we are not alone. I never got to experience the beach and im a beach girl.. I understand the beach wasnt in its best shape, but thats Mother Nature. I would have loved to have had a different experience. The resort has yet to take any accountability for our horrendous stay, they have not answered emails or returned any phone calls. We have left messages for management and the executive director. We have confirmations, emails, phone logs, pictures, and videos of everything I mentioned above. While others may have had a great experience, sadly ours was awful.

It Just Keeps Getting Better

Another great holiday at the Colonial. This is our seventh time here in the last 10 years. We traveled this time with 3 other couples we met at the Colonial over the years. We are all obviously loyal fans of this resort.
I tend to write these reviews for those that have been here before and are planning to return but I hope those that are planning to come get a feeling for what to expect by reading other Colonial reviews. We are lucky, we never had problems worthy of complaint in all the years we have been coming.
The resort is beautiful, Caribbean in nature with an abundance of foliage and palm trees. The buildings are not the concrete glass and steel that you see in some of the newer resorts. There is an abundance of available bali beds and palapas. If you travel this time of year, you will always get one. Our room at the club was as we expected. Air Conditioning work well, clean, lots of storage space and a large balcony to enjoy our evenings on.
David Lopez was our butler. Also, our best butler to date. He is attentive, efficient and professional and we truly believe he cared about the quality of his service and our comfort. We will arrange to have him next year.
For those of you that are returning, staff you will remember.
Elias Sanchez is still taking care of the main lobby. He saved our vacation the first year we were here. My wife left her purse on the bus with our passports in it. Elias grabbed her and he chased the bus down in a golf cart to recover the purse.
Carolina German is again at the lobby bar and I would spend an hour with her every morning. Her moto… learn a word a day. Her English is excellent. You will find Karen, Bernadel, Veronica and Karina there also.
Fausto, Christian and Cruze are at the main bar, they are tireless. Johan and Katia are at the plaza bar again this year, working hard as usual. July is at one of the club pool bars and Green is at the at the large pool bar this year. We spent a few hours with them last year and dropped by to say hello this year. We met a new girl at the parrot bar, loyda she is always smiling and has a gentle demeaner about her. You will see for yourself.
Although I have missed some staff in this review, I will make sure you are included next year. However, one final mention. I spoke with a girl in the lobby a few times, Tiffany De Morla, she told me she would like to be a butler one day. I think that management should strongly consider her for this position in the future. She will be an asset for sure.

a amazing first DR trip

Me and my girlfriend had an amazing experience from the day we walked in to when we left. Everyone was so nice and pleasant. We had a butler named Manuel. He made our stay feel more welcomed than what we expected from showing us all around to booking all of our dinners to the restaurants. Every morning, we got a good morning message from him on top of the resort activity schedule and times. Even during the day he checked up on us in person. The morning stretching with black diamond was a great way to start the day. And the pool and beach activities were extremely fun. The night time had non stop dancing was a blast Wish we stayed longer than what we did.

Balanced view of resort- including theft in room

I stayed here with my family on my annual holiday.

Positives- fantastic food options (the best feature of the resort), waiting / bar staff.
Nice gardens, resort facilities and room (clean and good size).
Nice positioning on the beach which is well kept.
Feels like a touch of paradise in the resort.

Negatives- Our valuable jewelry was stolen from the hotel room on the last night (gold earrings and a necklace was taken). Can only assume that it would be the hotel housekeeping staff.
They were unwilling to compensate or take liability of this- so if you stay here do not trust leaving ANY valuables out of the safe.
- The pool is only waist depth so unable to swim in it.
- Poolside food is not allowed, so you have to go into a restaurant to dine during the day.
- The restaurants strictly don't allow food to be taken outside the restaurants- even when my daughter was unable to join us for dinner one evening.
- There are no bar snacks/nibble in the evening with your alcoholic/soft drink.
- The resort is quite big so looses the personal touch that you would like on holiday.
- Small children could get lost at this resort as so big.

Majestically Incredible!

Our experience at Majestic Mirage was nothing short of incredible. This was our first trip to an all-inclusive but it surely won’t be our last. On our first day, we met our butler, Edwin. He always made sure we had everything we needed and was always interested in having a conversation with us. He was great and I plan to request him again when we return!

The animation/entertainer team was amazing. Xavier did a great job at having conversation and encouraging us to participate in the activities he was hosting! Anytime we saw him, he’d be sure to come over and say hi. Manuel/Babyface and Carlos/Chocolate were also great parts of the team. Pool aerobics, volleyball, dance lessons, and Spanish lessons were all so fun. Seeing them later in the evening at each party/event was a fun time. Xavier made sure I participated in all of the dancing and I’m glad he did!

At the towel concierge, Lenet was always happy to greet us. Each morning, we would have great conversations with him! It was a great start to our day.

Naomi was an incredible hostess, always making sure we had everything we needed and making our wait times as short as possible. Ana was an incredible bartender and would make amazing drinks! The coffee baristas were top notch! There were two we saw each day and I wish I could remember their names. They were always so kind, friendly, and made us a unique drink creation!

We’re already looking at making another reservation to return to Majestic Mirage and we’re so excited!

The resort is amazing. Everyone who works there is full of life, extremely kind and phenomenal! I had an Amazing time! I couldn't be more at ease! Eveything was super easy and smooth. Edwin my butler was extraordinary. I would always come to this resort on vacation.

El resort está increíble. ¡Todo el que trabaja aquí tiene una vibra buenísima, son súper amables y fenomenales! La pasé súper bien. No pude haber estado más tranquila. Todo fue fácil y fluyó sin problema. Edwin, mi mayordomo, fue extraordinario. Siempre volvería a este resort para mis vacaciones.

Best vacation to date!!!!

Wow!! I don’t even know where to start! From the minute you walk in, you are greeted with hand towels and drink. The staff is BEYOND amazing and welcomes you to food and drinks while waiting to check in. Everything that came after, exceeded our expectations. Every staff member you pass says good morning/night, has a smile AT ALL TIMES. (Despite them being human and may be having a bad day but you will never know) the food was good, pools were nice and drinks were great! We stayed in colonial since we didn’t travel with our kids. We had a swim up room which was very convenient. A special shoutout to those we spent the most time with. Butler- Juan Bartender- Leandro and servers- Christian and Adolfo. Thank you for the bottom of my heart for such an amazing experience! We are already planning our next trip here next year! Mi Latino gente de Dominicana, gracias por todo and for being a beautiful country!!!
Also, people just because it’s all inclusive does not mean your tip is included. TIP YOUR PEOPLE!!!!!
