The worst one resort under IHG Management

Me and my husband just recently returned from our vacation we spent in Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites for 6 nights. It was our first experience to stay in Iberostar and the reason we choose this property because it is IHG managed property (and IHG has a very high standards in matter of guests satisfaction). We have to confess... This property has a Zero Management and almost Zero Service! At all. To me it is a worst one IHG property I ever stayed in my entire life:
1) Reseption. If you do not want to have your day and mood completely ruined, do not even try to stop there. Just passed by and find someone elses to help you with your issue. We had some situations we needed their assistance, and never received it - during check in they provided us with the wrong room type, so we back to reception to solve it. Our bottle opener was broken into the room and we wait for 3 dais when someone come to fix it. We asked reception to assist us with restaurants reservation but they said no and sent us to consierge who did not provide us with accurate information.
People at the reseption are looking super boring, super unprofessional. They do not even try to speak English. My husbang is a very good Spanish speaker, but if not, highly likely, you will face a lot of difficulties with understanding.
We felt sooooo tired of luck of compethency people from reception on conserge as well. They do not know their own product, it is an absolute chaose!

2) Restaurants - additionally, besides of Main Buffet restaurant, we visited steak hause, Japanese and Greek one. Steak house is very good one - great and tasty food, nice beverages and atmosphere overall.
We did not understood the concept of Japanese restaurant - there is no menu available. You have to eat what they serve for you - it is a couple of rolls, one sushi and something elese small. You will be watching some show from the cheef how to cook rice, vegetables and meet along with soy souse. Obviously, after that you will be served to eat it. That's it! I think it would be more correctly to renaime the restaurant to Asian restaurant, so, at least, guests will not have any expectations to eat Ramen, rolls, and try sake.
Greek reastaurant - they provided us with 3 courses menue. But as a fact, you can order only one main dish... the question is why no one informed us in advance?
Food in main menue and Mexican restaurant was very good.
3) Rooms. We stayed in Tropical Garden Vew Room and it was very good - very spacious, bright, great shower and great bathroom amenities. The only one this was that the bottel opener was broken. WE contacted reception and during 3 days noone came to fix it or provide us with an althernatiove oppener. As I said, reception do not care at all how guests feel themselves.
4) Beach - very beautiful. But when you enteing into the sea, the water is super cloudy and there is a lot of algae.
Overall, if you have a couple of other options to stay in Punta Cana, perhaps, you better consider them. The Resort is beautifull by itself, but zero management, luck of attention from staff, and pure service could turn your vacation into a headache. By the way, the Resort has an IHG represenatative Nataly. We said on reception that we would laki to meet with her if possible to share our experience. We left our information, but couple of times we came to the reseption at mentioned time to meet her, she never showed up. To me it is just confirmed, that this Resort doesn't care if guests engoying or not. So poor management!

The best waiter in Punta canta

We had a amazing time! And the staff was awesome especially Mr. Wilkin are waiter at the buffet this guy is the best and deserve all the credit and his own spot in a 5 * star restaurant this man was amazing if your at the buffet look for him you can't miss him big smile on his face thank you wilkin for your service

A long weekend gateway

Spent 5 days at the hotel. The hotel is very relaxing
Food was great buffet has different menu daily drinks were great l so far it was best cocktail I even have from Cancun and DR
But it depends on the person who made it
It was kind of hit and miss.
I have a mixed feeling about the serivce
Some staff were very friendly some weren’t and I do find some are kind of rude
But I would say 70*% of time I had a good time and I had good service
When I was at the bar some staff was trying to ignore me even I had waited for long time for drinks
But only downside was the beach
I was hoping the clear blue water but it turns out kind of muddy not sure if it is the location or the weather

Amazing service -Manny- Star Prestige/Iberostar the Club member

Outstanding Service !!

We stay 8 days with a group of 14 people- family and friends and Manny at the Star Prestige provided our group amazing customer service! Every detail from dinner reservations, Birthday celebration ,anniversary celebration and taking care out of groups every little need or wants!

Manny is a very valuable employee that Iberostar should be proud of him be the face of Iberostar and the Iberostar Club!

Thank you Manny for all you do and we all had an amazing trip because of you!!

🌟 An Unforgettable Stay at Iberostar Selection Bávaro Suites 🌟

First of all, I would like to thank the entire Iberostar team: the servers, the lobby staff, and everyone working at the hotel. Each of them does a remarkable job and contributes to creating such a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere.

However, I want to give a very special mention to Manny, our butler. Without him, our vacation would have been just fine. Thanks to him, it became absolutely amazing, almost unreal — like living in a dream.

Manny was there for us from morning to night, always attentive, always caring. He texted us every day to check on us, to anticipate our needs, and to make sure everything was perfect. I’ve stayed at many Iberostar resorts, but I have never met anyone who gives so much of himself. Manny truly loves his job and gives 3000% to his guests. His professionalism, kindness, and dedication are exceptional. He is a true gem that the hotel must absolutely keep.

Thank you so much Manny, from both Victoria and myself. We will never be able to thank you enough for making these two weeks absolutely unforgettable. We wish you lots of success and happiness for you and your family.

I would also like to thank Clara, who served us the best cocktails at the Star Prestige Bar. An incredibly kind woman — sweet, smiling, and always impeccable in her service. Clara made our moments at the bar even more enjoyable and memorable.

Wonderful stay!

From the moment we entered the resort we were taken excellent care of, from our first connection at the lobby desk with Alex and Eddie, to our concierge Israel, and our wonderful restaurant personnel and drink cabana workers, as well as the gym and spa personnel. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The rooms weren’t as bright as the pictures in the website indicated but non the less were very comfortable, clean and nice. The first floor patio furnishings appeared to be wonderful. The second floor outdoor deck furnishings could be updated, but our upstairs beachside suite’s patio offered an outstanding view!
Our only negative was the push for “membership” in a time-share type manner.
The restaurants were all very good. We tried the Italian, the Japanese, the buffet, the coffee shop, the Smokehouse, and the Mexican restaurant (which was our personal favorite- we ate there several times and especially enjoyed the waitstaff and bar tenders there.
Ours was a wonderful, relaxing vacation with exceptional people to assist us from check in all the way through to check out!

Amazing trip in a beautiful resort

We had a wonderful time at the Iberostar resort in Punta Cana. It is a truly beautiful resort, featuring lush vegetation, a variety of beautiful tropical birds and flowers, a gorgeous beach, and excellent food, drinks, and entertainment. Our room was spacious and clean. I would like to mention our favorite server at the Los Haitises restaurant: Adelise. She always made sure we felt welcome and provided outstanding service. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommended for a relaxing and fun vacation!

Kick back and relax

We have just come back from a week at the Iberostar Selection Suites, we had read some of the recent reviews and it's safe to say we had set our expectations accordingly.

We arrived at around 5pm, so the reception was quite quiet, but we were checked in with no hassles, and had it not been for us asking questions, it would have been very quick. The hotel grounds are up there with the nicest we have experienced, the rooms are all part of small two story buildings, with 4 rooms each, their lack of height makes them less imposing than some of the bigger resorts, and gives the sense of being far more open, than even the neighbouring resorts. The room itself was spacious and clean with everything we needed, although the air conditioning unit was quite loud, so if you are a light sleeper that may be an issue.

The sunbeds around the pools began to fill up around 9, so if you want a prime spot, be prepared to be up early, there were plenty of beds around, so there was always a spot to lie in though, there is one main pool split into two, with activities on one side and a swim up bar on the other side, there is a pool with some small slides for younger children, and tucked away around the back is a quiet pool.

The beach is amazing, when the sea allows it to be!! It really was pot luck, some days we could get up early and go for a long walk in either direction, others the waves and water were coming in as far as the Iberostar sign on the beach. The water was cloudy most of the time, but it was only sand washing up from the sea floor, so there was not much to see. Members of our party have been to other resorts along this stretch of beach, and the sea has never been this cloudy, but it was the same all the way along, the seaweed issues has been bad this year as well, however there was little evidence of this each morning, as the staff were up cleaning it away very early.

Food and drink at the resort was very good overall, a couple of the restaurants were shut, so we made a reservation at the sister hotel and ate there one evening, we were able to use all of the facilities at the neighbouring Iberostar Waves complex, so there was plenty to choose from. The buffet had a good selection, and had theme nights, however we only ate at the buffet once, preferring the a la carte options.

Service at the hotel was good, the staff were friendly and welcoming, there were some minor miscommunications, but nothing that caused any problems. We were asked by multiple concierges to attend a 'free breakfast at the Coral level' and receive a free spa treatment, but each time we were firm that we were not interested, we know they get a commission based on attendees, and we understand why they do it, but we stood firm with our refusals, so they were not pushy.

Our group really enjoyed our stay at the Iberostar, and we did not experience any of the problems that were reported in some of the more recent reviews, if you want somewhere to relax with friends, family or just as a couple, we would recommend it

Fantastic Honeymoon

Amazing service all around! This place is absolutely stunning. My husband, Sergio, and I were super lucky to be gifted our honeymoon here, and from the very start, we were treated so well.

The staff don’t just give great customer service — they really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for, almost like friends. As someone who works in management, I was honestly taking mental notes to bring back home!

I had a small emergency during our stay, and our Ambassador, Manny, was right there to help. He’s truly exceptional at what he does and genuinely cares about guests.

I also want to give a big shoutout to Clara, Noel, Lizbeth, Juan, Angel, Yicaira, and Felicia — you all made our stay unforgettable!

My husband and I are already planning to come back next year. Thank you for everything! ❤️

Disappointed

We stayed 5 nights at this resort, and honestly, it doesn’t deserve its 5-star rating. The worst part of our stay was the check-in process. They assign you a so-called “concierge,” who is actually a sales agent constantly trying to sell extended vacation packages. You’re even required to make your restaurant reservations through them, which just gives them more opportunities to pressure you into buying. Once you say no, their willingness to assist quickly disappears.

And that’s before you even get to the room — which was another disappointment. The rooms are outdated, the furniture was stained, the air conditioning barely cooled, and the mini-fridge didn’t work at all. The staff experience was inconsistent: some were kind and attentive, while others seemed uninterested or unhappy to be there.

On the positive side, the pool area, the grounds, and the beach were very nice and well maintained. But overall, for someone who has stayed at the RIU or Hard Rock resorts in the area, this one just doesn’t compare.

Mother-daughter getaway!

If I could give this trip more than 5-stars I would! The rooms, the beach, the food and drinks, and most especially the service is what keeps us coming back to THIS Iberostar! Our Ambassador, Manny, was incredible; his kindness, dedication, and hospitality made our mother-daughter trip filled with memories and good times. We will certainly be back next year!
