Honeymoon 10/4-10/16, 2025

Had a great honeymoon here. This is our 3rd time back as ULC Members. We believe that once the members area is done here it will be on the same level as RM.

The only downside we can think of is we wish there was a dedicated Adults only area or party at the pool in the evenings. We know to expect kids when coming to this resort because of the water park, but as a couple who doesn’t have kids, would be nice for some time to mingle with other adults not at the disco.

Our highlight employees were Yendri (ULC Server) he was the best server we have had to date at either resort in the last 7 trips we have been, Yeni (Sports bar and disco waitress and bartender), Jolita (Plaza and Square Waitress) Black Panther, and Alvin (Entertainment Team).

Could be better

Let’s start with the good

We were on vacation and we enjoyed our time and trip. Most of the people were absolutely amazing and they always tried to address our concerns. Was in overall great experience.food was good not great but good.

What’s no so good,
The hotel has so much potential however two MAJOR things
1. Half of the things were closed due to “low season”. We have always go on vacation around oct 16th as it my husband birthday. Always DR since he is Dominican, have NEVER had thats situation.
2. The maintenance was not the best, we have to called twice for the room service to be back in our room and change the “clean” bed sheets because it’s smelled awful! The pool smelled like pee and elevator, smelled like pee. The room could -and I REALLY hope soon- be better, bathroom was moldy, and the bathroom floor got flooded when showered.

It IS a BEAUTIFUL place with nice staff but it could be better

Loved it!

Excellent resort for the price I paid.
I am here in mid October 2025, for two weeks. I have managed to secure reservations at all speciality restaurants. (You need to review availability each day, online or via concierge, for approx four days time). I’ve actually been to some restaurants twice. Staff are all lovely. Room was clean, spacious and well air conditioned (block 16).
So many bars. Loved the air con sports bar (advised them in advance if you want to watch a particular game).
Please bring USD singles to tip the wonderful staff. It goes a long way and you’ll receive even better service.
I travelled solo, but the resort caters for all. Plenty for families; friends and couples of all ages.
Personally I love the beach and the sea. But plenty of organised activities around the pool (and obviously there’s the on-site water park).
Reading the negative reviews, I feel some people love to moan. Pleae take with a pinch (shovel) of salt. I think you’ll find this resort is outstanding value, in a glorious beach location.

The worst hotel experience at Punta Cana

Hotel Grand Sirenis Punta Cana

Unfortunately, our stay at this property was very disappointing and did not meet our expectations.

The food quality was extremely poor. Most buffet dishes were not fresh; even simple items like hot dogs and burgers tasted bad, and the burgers were consistently undercooked. The main buffet area had an unpleasant sewage smell every day, and the staff could not provide an explanation. We also noticed flies, stray cats, and even cockroaches in the buffet area, which was unacceptable for a resort of this level.

The à la carte restaurants were equally disappointing. Most of them were closed, and those that were open had no availability for reservations. Out of seven nights, we were only able to dine at three restaurants, and even then, the food was mediocre. The overall food variety was very limited, and the few options available were unappetizing.

Our rooms were in poor condition. There was a persistent smell of humidity, the bathroom flooded because water leaked from under the shower glass, and the air conditioning did not cool properly. My brother’s safe box was missing the master key cover, which was reported to security, but no action was taken.

Additionally, my phone was stolen at the pool, and although there were security cameras, the hotel management did not take any steps to help recover it or investigate.

The activities were poorly organized and felt more like random games than real entertainment. The water park is in urgent need of renovation. The pools are also poorly designed — one is for VIP guests, one is too deep (7 feet), and the other is for small children (1–3 feet), so there is no medium-depth option for adults. The beach water was murky and rough, and the hotel is located far from downtown Punta Cana.

The only positive aspect of our stay was the kindness of the staff, who were always polite and helpful. However, the overall experience was extremely disappointing, and we would not return to this hotel. There are much better options in Punta Cana that offer higher standards of cleanliness, food, and guest service.

Underwhelming experience

My partner booked a last minute 2 week trip with Tui. The resort itself is very pleasant and we found the staff pretty good. The biggest problem is the operation. It could easily handle being a real 5 star if it was run that way, all the potential is there but the things that let it down are the cleanliness of the rooms & the food in the main buffet. You will have a lot of choice but not the best options. Too many things and not enough quality plus terrible labelling. It gets repetitive very quickly. You will also be pressured in to a sales meeting for their membership club, they will offer you an upgraded breakfast and then try and sell you a kind of membership timeshare package which maybe with it for some but not us. Unfortunately at this hotel the people with the membership and special wristband only received what everyone should have been getting in the first place, so the basically this gives you the proper access to everything on site. Like I said we had 2 weeks booked but after 7 days we have moved over to the Hard Rock resort and can confirm it’s excellent on every level.

I’m sure for some it’s ok but if they’re really honest it’s not up to par.

Good overall resort, dated/not the most clean rooms, buffet is ok, waterpark is a good bonus.

Overall it's a good place. If you can handle the fact that the rooms are dated and they are not well maintained, the rest of the trip will be good.

Rooms: the room was dated. when we arrived it wasn't that clean, there were still things on the floor from the previous occupants that were not cleaned by the staff. We did some of our own cleaning. There was also a closet plastic component that was hanging down. Overall the rooms are a 5 out of 10. The basics are there but it's nowhere close to good condition. This is the biggest drawback of the resort. A little better effort by the staff to clean and repair things would go a long way.

Other than that - the resort is great. Beach is what you would expect. The buffet has a lot of options but very rarely is there a "wow". It's a good overall buffet with no frills. The grounds of the resort are great. The staff is pleasant and friendly. The concierges try to sell you memberships or "exclusive packages" - avoid them and just say no. The excursion prices in Punta Cana overall, and on resort, are simply ludicrous. They need to drop their prices to get more business as these are not reasonable prices. The waterpark at the resort is also good.

Overall the resort is a 7.5 out of 10. It's a solid all-around resort with dated rooms and staff do their best, except in cleaning rooms.

Ultimate Leisure Club SUCKS!

I had the misfortune of getting trapped in the web of lies and manipulation of the Ultimate Leisure Club(ULC). These guys operate like predators! It all starts with lies from the beginning where their representative would lure you by inviting for a raffle draw where you can win prizes and you need to bring your credit card. In reality, this is how they verify that you have credit card and they can steal money from you!
They would ask for about 90 minutes of your time but then waste your entire day by making you false promises, tours etc. When they bring you back to their sales room, they would use your fear of loss to make you accept their offer and sign the contract on the spot. I had to make a down payment of 5.5K(USD)! Meanwhile, they would distract you by talking and so it's difficult to read carefully all the information on their 30 pages long contract.
Their contract is full of so many loopholes. For example, they don't properly explain that their partner companies operate independently with their own pricing policies. The contract doesn't include cancellation and refund policies. Also, they would make you believe that you are "not allowed" to cancel the contract!

It was only after I came back from vacation and got the chance to read the contract carefully I realized that I have been misled and lied to. I managed to cancel my contract but didn't get my money back!
I feel like I have been robbed by these people. This experience has left me with a very bad taste and I will never go to Dominican Republic again!!

So bad we moved hotels within 4 days of our 10 day holiday

The hotel is terrible. Rather than right a long review and burn further time with what Tui claim to be a 4T hotel on their website, i am going to bullet point all the issues with the hotel. We have never requested a hotel move in any holiday we have previously been on.

1. Unsafe kids club. Lack of disclaimers. Lack of check around key things such as allergies. We walked in, walked around before someone came to us and the only thing we were required to do was right our room number on a sheet of paper. Outrageous ... dont worry though, when we raised this with the Hotel Manager, they have never had an issue before
2. Poor service from most staff. They are in the main uninterested in serving, more bothered around chatting to each other. Couple of exceptions to this but vast majority was in this category. We arrived to the kids bed not being made up and so called reception, was told someone would be there in 10mins, 20mins later no one attended so called again, told same thing, after another 20mins went to reception and no one was even aware of the issue so had to get someone there and then to come back the beds.
3. Poor food and poor food hygiene. Food was poor, often the same things rehashed night after night. Meats and cheeses were open and not placed in cool/ice blocks and so warmed quickly and likely the reason people got ill
4. Pull out bed was super uncomfortable for the kids, they complained and ended up sleeping in with us. Raised with the hotel and was told that all the sofa beds were the same. Lies as walked by a room being cleansed and their sofa bed had a proper mattress on it.
5. Drinks are poor. super sweet and taste terrible. The beer "Presidente" is a larger, most of the beer being served was cloudy and sour, refused to drink it and when ever i queries it, everyone said it was fine. Its not fine, it was off beer
6. Resort as a whole looks worn. Cracked tiles in communal areas. Pool areas missing tiles within the pool, stair rails wobbly when walking up and down stairs
7. Smell of sewage around the resort, especvially in the main buffet restuarnt
8. it says 8 "Al le Carte" resturants but we didnt see them all open. most were closed.

I would avoid this place and not fall fowl of the clearly airbrushed pictures.

You get what you pay for

The pictures are not what you get. Our bathroom needed a whole remodel to say the least, I believe there was mold growing all around. There was a phone holder and a cable but no receiver, the hair dryer was holding on by one screw, no place to put your stuff, everytime we took a shower we flooded the floor because there is a tiny piece of glass instead of a curtain, and most importantly no fan in the bathroom to suck the humidity out (hence the mold). The floor wasnt clean in years, so couldn't take our shoes off, almost closed myself on the balcony because the handle was ripped off and the door is impossible to open, and the mattress in the bedroom was more like a water bed (felt every move the other person made) so that meant zero sleep. We got a tour of the ULC (membership) and it is not worth it. We got a "better" lunch which I couldnt enjoy because the sales person ate with us. They promised a difference in room size and decor but I did not see it. The decor in the platinum room made me feel I was in the 80 or 90, Al Paccino style.

Check-in was a process as well. The front desk agent was goofing around so much he mixed our group up even though I handed him the passports divided accordingly. I told them via email, and mentioned it at the front desk that we need a crib and I was told at the front desk to call, like why?? I am telling you now and there was no one else checking in, it was late, and we were tired needing to put the baby to sleep. Some of the restaurant staff is very slow to bring things such as hot water, spoons, or salt (there should be salt and pepper shakers at each table. By the time they brought us salt we finished our meal). Therefore, staff is in need of better training.

The rest of the resort is in need of serious tlc as well. The bathrooms are disgusting by the pool areas. Bugs will eat you. Grasshoppers will come into your room due to the big gap under the door.

The food was good but after a few days I was tired of it, it was the same thing everyday - no theme nights. It was difficult to get into a restaurant because they only have 2-3 open a day, yet when we went to a restaurant it was empty (???). The restaurants are definitely worth it, except Hibachi. Most of the staff was very nice to us, but all staff should be trained to say hello and smile even if you are a maintenance person or chef. A handful of times staff passed us and wouldn't even look at us. It would also be helpful for the staff to speak English, only the front desk spoke English the rest only a little bit which is a must in hospitality.

For it being a family friendly resort there was not much for the kids to do. No entertainment in the evenings, a few days they had something for the kids but only for older kids. The kids club is a disgrace, the kids couldn't even play freely because the lady would go behind them and tell them not to play with all the pieces. No playground or indoor activities when it rains. No games to borrow.

This was not my first time in DR or at a resort and in comparison I would not recommend this hotel. Not sure how they are considered a 5-star hotel or have such high ratings on Expedia, Booking.com, and Google. Check TripAdvisor before you go!

Underwhelming - Would not return

Stayed for a week with my family. Main reasons for picking here was a combination of price, ratings, and water-park.

FOOD:
Not great. There were several dishes i enjoyed but nothing truly outstanding. There was a lot of flies on uncovered food. Birds picked at the pool snack bar (inside an open building). Pizza area was good, but no pepperoni! Almost all meat was under-cooked inside, and sometimes seared on the outside. With only a few exceptions, all bread, bagels, buns, donuts...basically any bakery items were not fresh. Poor meat cuts, fatty and thin. For A la cartes, we had American, Brazilian, Japanese, and Italian. Italian was the worst, the lasagna tiny, and they mixed pizza sauce and Alfredo maybe? The top noodle was still hard. The other 3 were good enough, and better than the buffet. PRO TIP - the food truck outside the front had the best food and friendly people. It kept me alive this week :) I drank both bottled, and their filtered water all week, including ice cubes and this was my first time NOT getting any sort of traveler sickness, so that's a huge plus for me as well.

Their entire 'VIP' is a slap in the face to anyone that goes there. They have 'VIP only' selection at the bar, a VIP pool, and a VIP 'lounge' that is a bright room with some pastries. As others mention, don't do the VIP breakfast, its a ploy to get you to hear a 90 minute pitch on why you should book directly with the hotel.

Entertainment:
Sub-par. Various stuff going on throughout the day, but repetitive and honestly not super fun compared to other places I've been. If you win, you get recognized during the night ice breaker show. The Magic show was good, and the kids enjoyed it! They have a decent theatre with huge fans on the ceiling to keep you cool.

Facilities/Accommodations:
This is the best part of this place. It's a beautiful looking resort, the lobby, the theatre, all the dining areas, the rooms - all modern, big, and well maintained. Fountains and gardens all look absolutely beautiful, great for photo ops. The room was nice, but not large enough for the size of my family. We made it work, and for what we paid, if everything else was great I could live with it again. Internet access was ok - I had full coverage my entire stay. I brought a firestick and the internet was not fast enough for me to stream movies. The tv in my room froze every minute.

Water park:
Disappointing, perhaps due to my expectations. The water park was a huge factor on why i chose to go here, and i only used it once. It's old looking. There are 8 slides total (plus kids ones). 4 slides are almost the same, 2 are carpet ones, 1 red slide which is cool, and 1 'trapdoor' style slide that was closed for maintenance. The also have a small pool here, a shop, snack bar, and small kids things. We tried everything and then was done with it within 2 hours, kids didn't want to go back. The water park was a 5 minute walk from the lobby, and not near the main pool. They have a shuttle you could take that comes every 5 minutes they say, realistically it was every 10-15 mins.

Pool:
Okay. It's a good size, but 2/3rds is about 7' deep. My kids stayed in the shallow, along with almost all the other kids. They also hosted all the activities in this section so it got crowded during those times. I liked the 'beach' style gradual walk out of the pool. Good towel services and lots of places to sit/leave your stuff.

Beach:
It was a beautiful beach. They maintain it well, and in the water the sand was clean and nice. No bad odors. There's 2 off-resort souvenir shops on one side (north?).

Overall I enjoyed my stay. This was a beautiful resort but there are other options. The waterpark was bad, and the food was the worst part. The shuttle back to the airport stopped at one other resort. The families that got on spoke about how great their stay was, and we were definitely jealous.

Will not go back

I will not be going back. The majority of staff were miserable and not very welcoming, the concierge were really helpful until they had conned you into a free prestige breakfast and after 3 hours of your life you will not get back and you do not buy the time share then they don't speak to you for the rest of the holiday. There are a couple of bar staff that are friendly and a really nice lady in the buffet restaurant who always goes out of her way to say hello and makes sure you you have a smile on your face so if you are there on holiday make sure you look out for her, her name is Juana.

I’m glad I didn’t cancel 🤣

We are currently on vacation here and reading the trip advisor reviews I had already tried to cancel this holiday. I’m so glad I didn’t!
Now I am really fussy I own a guest house myself in the uk rated 9.6 on here.
So the good and the bad. I was really pleased with the rooms. Yes the grouting needs sorted and they do smell damp so bring a plug in air freshener but they are not dirty as some stated and they are large, modern fittings for usb, bath and showers and the best beds! Honestly at home my mattress cost me over two grand and my pillows are the most expensive bamboo and feather down but these really do come close if not as good.
Service is slow but you’re in carribean time. Staff are not miserable, well some but not most. I have found so far if you are happy they smile back and to be honest how some people behave I know why the staff do not smile at them. I witnessed tonight a family with young children screaming and carrying on like no one’s business and yes I am travelling with a child but she would be taken out and put to bed if she was behaving so that she caused alarm with other diners.
The food is okay. As I’ve stated my business is hospitality and I’ve owned restaurants. It was better than I thought it would be from reviews however it’s basic. If you stick to an omelette and fruit for breakfast, semi decent pizza for lunch and graze for dinner you won’t be hungry but you’ll probably be thinking of what you’re eating when you get home.
The best thing about here is the tranquility. The beach is beautiful, no where is too busy you can just chill and take a moment to breathe.
Also for children there’s lots happening and the water park although old is so quiet it really is actually relaxing to take children there.
Overall for the price paid I’m extremely happy and would probably visit again.
