Not as we expected

First I’ll start by saying this resort is absolutely beautiful and very well taken care of. The staff is amazing and were there to take care of your every need.

We vacation twice a year at all inclusive resorts, typically stay at a Riu or Dreams or Secret properties. We were expecting the same variety of foods, restaurants and things to do.

This resort has 2 restaurants and a very limited menu. The menu is the same every day. No buffet, no choices at all. Extremely disappointing

Things to do…..don’t let the website fool you. There’s no actives, no music at the pool, nothing.

If you’re looking to not do anything and not have much food choices then this resort is for you

Amazing first time, and will not be the last!

First time to Couples San Souci and will not be the last.

Property is amazing! Lush grounds situated around the cliffs. So much to see and explore. Wonderful beach for relaxing and taking in the amazing views. just enough entertainment if you want to do something (unless sand gravity gets you first!). And the staff exceeded expectations.

We are repeaters to Couples Resorts, and we have now found our second home. San Souci, we will see you soon again!

One of the best holidays we have had

This was our 3rd Trip to Sans Souci everything was fantastic, we loved our beach room on block A by the lake and near to the beach. We had some lovely meals really tasty and presented beautifully at all the Restaurants our favourite being Casanova seated outside. We would like to thank all really amazing staff Lloyd bar, Wayne Food and Beverage Manager who definitely needs a new Segway! Patrick Reid the best singer and dancer who gives his job his all and makes it all FUN! and the two 2 Team leaders Yasheken Campbell and Shanel Barrett are very special ladies . We also really enjoyed the signer DJANI as a tribute to Bob Marley just wow and thank you!
We never had a problem selecting our sun beds with a bit shade by the main beach the sea is warm and so lovely I saw fish and one day even a puffer fish and an Eel in the shallows.
I enjoyed Aqua fit with Connie and Aqua Pilatus with Jill.
Please can we clean the fitness centre more as birds get in an leave droppings on the glass there.
Your every whim is cantered for in your beautiful well appointed suite from fruit juice to wine or spirits if required you only have to ask.
My chill out place every afternoon was by the lake its just amazing with Pelican's Ducks, Kingfishers and Turtles to see daily.
We were there when the ISSA Foundation had a concert which we paid to go to see Shaggy the pop star what a night to remember, Pre cocktails at the sunset beach and all fantastic TASTY food and drink throughout the night was included in the cost of the ticket I was drinking pink champagne, we will never forget this special occasion !
Please go on the free glass bottom boat we really enjoyed it and the captain the older Water sports sorry I have forgotten his name made it fun. You will be amazed at it all from famous houses next the hotel to a sunken ship in the ocean.
Only only complaint was the sea and beach at the natural beach needs to be closed down a few and it needs so much work done to make nice to sit on as the safe area where you are supposed to be swimming you can't get into it due to large rocks and green seaweed lots of rocks on the beach and the toilets are tatty and need a refurb. Please undertake this work to make everything perfect.
Please don't go Sans souci if you just want to party but you can have fun dancing to the different singers each night or the disco they have occasionally.
We did go to Couples Tower Island on day swap and really enjoyed it there to.
Please also leave the Hotel to see the countryside we did Cycling in the Blue Mountains excursion and Martha Brae rafting.
Do we want to go back YES please we miss you all ! love from Will and Alison UK guests visited in May 2025 room A201

Make sure your account and final bill is accurate

I gave them 3 stars because they did not credit my account with the $100.00 resort credit, and they overcharged me by $50.00 at check out and did not know what the $50.00 was for!
The $100.00 resort credit wasn’t added to my account, and they couldn’t add it until they spoke to customer service. I had to keep going to the lobby to make sure it has been added. Even though I had proof of reservation with the $100.00 resort credit, they couldn’t add it until they heard from them. We finally did get it on my account and used the resort credit to reduce the $300.00 couple’s massage. We purchased nothing else. Upon check out my bill was $250.00. I told them it should only be $200.00. They were trying to determine what the additional $50.00 was for but could not figure out what was charged to my account. I told them I was not paying an additional $50.00. I was only paying $200.00 which is what I spent.
I still have $300.00 pending on my credit card for the incidentals they automatically add to your card which should be removed a few days after checking out. It’s been over a week, and it is still pending. I really do hope that it gets removed soon. Most hotel incidentals usually are removed within 72 hours so the fact that it’s been a week concerns me.
The resort was nice and most of the stay was on the SSB side. The lunch on SSB was not great. Very limited buffet selection at SSB. We would leave and go to lunch at either Palazzino or Beach Grill. They had better options. One time at Palazzino lunch though the buffet hot section wasn’t very hot. Palazzino for dinner was our least favorite, but Asian Bistro and Casanova were really great. My favorite dinner spot was Asian Bistro. It was my husband birthday when we visited, and they made him feel special. They even sang to him. Breakfast at Palazzino was great as well.
I didn’t like the additional fees for the activities such as tie dye and jewelry making. Because there was a charge, we did not do these activities. It seems like there was upcharges for several things…. even Yoga! At the end of the yoga session the instructor was trying to sell his tank top with his picture on it. There was no charge for the wine tasting event but was so-so and the staff just read off a script. We only tasted 4 wines and 2 were house wines. The hat making with palm leaves was really good and I recommend. He didn’t charge but we did give him a tip as he patiently helped us make a hat. He was awesome!
The room was large and spacious. The bathroom was not really clean and had mold in various spots which I was not happy about. The shower floor is also made of rocks which I didn’t realize when booking the room. It may be painful for some people’s feet. The baseboards in the bathroom were also not cleaned and had a layer of dust. We stayed in Block A which was great for SSB but a bit far from the other stuff.
The resort beach on both sides is not private. There is another business that has property next to CSS and also on SSB side. On the SSB side if people are in the water they can look in on the nude side. There are also hotels that line around the circle. You can see this on google map.
Overall, it was a good stay and very relaxing, but I would only go again if they had a sale. I would not go during winter when the prices are over $650 plus b/c in my opinion would not be worth it. As most have mentioned this is not a 5 star resort by Europe/USA standards more like 3.5-4 stars.

Relaxing, beautiful, and delicious

We love this resort! We came here on our honeymoon and decided to return for our 10 year anniversary because nothing can beat it. We rode bikes, played pickle ball, enjoyed the Caribbean party, and every single food we ate was so delicious. The grounds are beautifully kept and the beach is so nice and private.

A few shout outs for the staff… Management, if you read this please let them know how happy we were with them!

Lloyd! Our man at the beachfront bar, thank you for always being so friendly and accommodating and saying hello to us when you saw us elsewhere on the resort. Your friendliness meant a lot!

P! At the water sports! Always greeted us with a huge smile and so much patience and willingness to help my husband practice sailing the hobby cat sailboats. Such a great, welcoming presence to have there! Thank you for everything!

Sandre in the groundskeeping department clearly loves what he does, and we had such a delightful conversation with him about Jamaican wildlife implants. Keep up the great work!

Cecilia, at the beach bar and the breakfast buffet. Your sweet smile and kind spirit did not go unnoticed!

Zuki at the tennis courts! Thanks for teaching us how to play pickle ball and being so welcoming!

Taneka, at the juice bar, thank you for being so friendly and such a joy to talk to!

Bus pickups needs attention

One thing that could definitely be improve is the in resort business up the hill. Telephone in restaurants does not work and we have been waiting over 20 minutes at times. Resort needs a what’s app group for requesting a bus. Difficult if you are less able

A Repeater's Dream

Not all vacations are perfect 24X7, but when you look forward to repeating at a resort on an annual basis, then the aggregate experience usually outweighs any tiny hiccups in a given week. And that was our experience again with Couples, this time at the San Souci property during the week of June 1. This was our 13th visit overall to Couples and 5th to CSS.

Though we originally checked into a penthouse suite in G block, we switched to a penthouse in E on our 2nd day. It's an incredible room, with wondrous and spacious accommodations and comfort, plus a breathtaking view that enlightened each sunrise and sunset. But our vacation was far more than beds, baths, and beyond.

It was characterized by a CSS team who never ceased to make our vacation special and our time very fulfilling. There are countless people to thank, starting at the point of greeting -- in the lobby with the front-office, reception, and bell staff. The first is someone everyone knows: Racine is perpetually focused on the repeaters' Romance Rewards experience, always with a personal and pleasant touch. Of course, there are so many other incredible standouts from the lobby experience, including Fayon, Natassia, Karen, Selena, and Yanique at Reception and Guest Services, and Jeff and the entire Bell team (they rarely break a sweat and always maintain a smile). And in Housekeeping, there was the always pleasant and very thorough Sheryl.

Then there's the food and wait staff. I'm vegan, but my wife eats most anything. Despite the challenge of two opposing diets, the restaurant teams never missed a beat (except we wish they had veggie patties along with beef and chicken patties). Though we were sad to miss Chef Lawrence on this trip (he was on vacation), we were welcomed heartily at Casanova by Marion, Ricardo and Shaquille. At Pallazzina, there was Carol, Robert (smoothies), Hakeem, Hubert, and countless others who were very attentive. Same at the Beach Grille with Danisha, and the bar staff throughout the resort, including Tanisha, Natalee, and Anthony (mini-bar).

While drinking, we were always entertained by the small but mighty Entertainment Staff, including our friend Ashley, along with Mickew (or McQ) and Shanay. A great team. When we weren't drinking, we frequented the spa and fitness services. In the spa, yet another CSS legend who EVERYONE knows is Ruth -- who we visited twice during our week. She is usually attached at the hip by Thelma, but she was away on vacation this week. For this trip, working with Ruth was the wonderful Kashema. And the onsite gym is more than suitable for fitness needs.

Moving over to Water Sports, Dwight always looked out for us. He and Captain Christopher piloted a stunningly breathtaking sunset cruise around Ocho for us. Next, the Photo Team and Desk (Ashay, Chantel, and Allison) were great fun and very talented in their craft.

Then there is Leonie Campbell who is now working at Couples Tower Isle, following a recent promotion. Leonie weaved magic behind the scenes to help ensure an outstanding experience for us (as she has done in previous years when she was based at CSS). A great and forever friend.

All in all, the week of June 1 was a great experience, from the gala, to the Caribbean night, to the repeater's dinner, and to everything in between. Until we visit next year, we'll miss what CSS offers. Sunset Beach remains the resort's premier gathering spot where much of the property's vibe stirs, and the Mineral Pool and Sauna remain where much of the resort's relaxation resides. Throughout the entire property, there's stunning fauna and wildlife, all embedded within plush scenery and landscape. Along the way, as we always do, we meet new friends -- both staff and guests. In our case, we're sure we will see many of these folks again in the years to come as they repeat their CSS stays. So, that's it. Another great week at Couples as we start the countdown to next year (about 345 days away).

Made to feel unwelcome - couldn’t recommend

We’ve literally just left and I have say the overwhelming feeling is of disappointment.

The pros of this resort are its undoubted beauty, it’s a really pretty, beautifully maintained, small, stylish resort and that’s something that can’t be faulted.
The other is the price, it’s certainly a very reasonable price for an AI.
The rooms(we were in B301) are very nice, spacious and pretty with very comfortable beds, decent aircon and huge bathroom(the shower is terrible though, barely a trickle of lukewarm water).

Sadly the cons of this place far exceed the positives.

The biggest and most disappointing issue was the staff. No matter how smiley, friendly or polite we were(we’re naturally bubbly and friendly people) we never got the same in return.

The vast majority of staff seemed almost annoyed that we were there. Getting a mediocre unfriendly service at almost every meal became frustrating. Expecting a friendly welcome or a smile was obviously too much. I’m glad we aren’t expected to tip at this resort because I would have struggled to find any staff who would make me feel inclined to do so. I don’t understand where the resentment comes from. When someone greets you with a smile and a cheery good morning, it actually takes effort not to respond in kind..most couldn’t even find it in them to look you in the eye when speaking to you.
The dismissive attitude on the whole was upsetting. There were a few standouts however..the shining beacons of delight.. John, who had such a genuine smile for everyone, made us feel welcome every time we saw him. Carol, who was at the omelette bar, was another wonderful surprise, as was Jody Ann and Tamesha who were some of the most lovely ladies we’ve met, an absolute asset to the company, we just wish all the staff would take their lead.

The second biggest disappointment has to be the food. We didn’t expect fine dining, but something above mediocre blandness shouldn’t have been too much to ask for. I’ve never understood the dumbing down of the Jamaican flavours. I understand the clientele are mainly American and perhaps it’s to cater to their tastes, but the lack of authentic flavours or spices was just ridiculous. The standard of most food was poor.. I think I could name 3 dishes I really enjoyed and the slow service(even taking into account ‘island time’) was unreasonable.

Their gala nights and Caribbean night buffets are good though, great selection(service was as always , pretty terrible.. so unfriendly).

The veggie bar, whilst the food is delicious (shout out to the smoked Marlin sandwich) .. the service was always RIDICULOUSLY slow.. and again, I hate to say it but the lady was borderline rude most of the time.

You never see any management , when we were at Sandals RP, the GM was always wandering around, greeting guests, asking about their stay (even handing out ice lollies).. nothing like that here. And handing out customer feedback at the end of the stay is pointless.. it doesn’t help us.

Replenishing the drinks in the room was non existent..we had to wait 3 days before we got any liquor in our room at all, then 3 times we requested a bottle of wine on the app, and twice went to reception.. finally got one on the last day.

Housekeeping staff were very friendly, and the rooms were spotless.

The entertainment on the whole was excellent, the female singer, the Bob Marley tribute, the circus, steel band.. all fabulous, the fashion show/singer…. well let’s say that was less so. The gentleman who does the entertainment was also unfriendly, and unaproachable.. unless you were a returner..

The booking of restaurants is a pain, because you can only book the Casanova once at a time.. if all the restaurants were of the same standard, then there wouldn’t be a need to clamour to get the only decent place to eat.. all the food should be of the same quality!

Overall, whilst it’s a beautiful resort, the unfriendly, unwelcoming staff members makes this a place I wouldn’t want to return to. Such a shame, but being made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome doesn’t encourage me to return.

Checked all the boxes for a great Island beach vacation

Use Google Earth to browse any resort before you go, however Jamaica does not have Hi resolution. You will not be disappointed with Couples Souci facilities and the bay, which they own the whole thing. Food, drinks, beach, staff, beach toys, all will exceed your expectations.
Flying into Montego Bay is a farther ride, however there are more flights into MB and your ground transportation is included anyway. Pack some nice clothes for dinner!

Lush, Beautiful Resort

This was our second stay here, we booked a redone Deluxe Garden Suite G107 and it did not disappoint.
There were many, many positives here and only a few negatives.

Negatives:
The beach at SSB was even rockier than last visit. Even with water shoes, it was not easy.
The stairs!!!
The young lady working at the clothing side pool bar was not interested in working. At all.
The water pressure in the shower is not good.

Positives:
The room and view is fabulous. AC does a great job and the bathroom is huge!!!
The staff is great, friendly and welcoming.
The food is fantastic!!! Things you must get
Fish tacos at the beach grill
Chicken wings from room service
Anything from Casanova
All the other bartenders were great!! Drinks are good and they don’t skimp on the alcohol.
The spa!!!
Coffee shop!! Plus you can leave a book, take a book there as well.
Do a photo shoot! Richard is amazing and they make great memories.
I may hate the stairs but the layout almost feels like 3 separate resorts. Up top is the mineral pool and jacuzzi, spa, salon, Casanova, coffee shop and piano bar. Then the main part of the resort and then Sunset Beach. We rotated through them all depending on how much we hated the stairs on a given day.
Room service!!!! We had it every morning for break fast, a couple lunches and 1 dinner. The food was excellent, hot and on time.
Go to SSB!!! It’s fun and everyone is really nice.

I could go on for a long time, we really enjoyed ourselves.

Some people that really stood out:
Richard and Ashay-the resort photographers were everywhere this visit catching your favorite moments.
Shakier in housekeeping took excellent care of our room.
Lafane at Pallazina dinner
Camille and Shaquille at Casanova
Tashieba at Pallazina Breakfast and lunch
Nickayla-young trainee just started but works hard. She served us multiple times in multiple places.
Ruth, Tia and Thelma at the spa. They’ll make you relax so hard, you’ll forget your name!
Orlando at Bella Vista, I have a very sensitive palate and he made sure my dinner was cooked to my liking.
Herde and Lloyd at the beach bar, keeping everyone topped up with a smile!
And our shuttle driver back to the airport was Fitzroy. Very professional and we had a nice cool van.

We had a great time and can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful honeymoon destination

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and we are so glad we chose here to celebrate our honeymoon. We were given welcome gifts and a free massage each as we were celebrating our honeymoon which was really lovely. The hotel is in a beautiful area surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and with its own beautiful beach. I got to experience scuba diving which was complimentary and had a wonderful experience. Glass bottom boat is also complimentary and fantastic as is other water sport activities. The rooms are beautiful and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is equally of a very high quality. Entertainment is brilliant with a must see spectacular Caribbean night on Tuesdays and Fridays on the main lawn. We would not hesitate to visit this beautiful hotel again and a big thank you to all the staff for making our honeymoon one to remember. Cannot recommend this place enough, one place everyone should visit if they get a chance to.

Awesome

Couples San Souci is without a doubt, one of the most exceptional hotel experiences I've ever had. Check in was a breeze and took less than 5 minutes, my only dissatisfaction there was I didn't receive a welcome drink. That was made up for instantly as even though my room was not ready I was invited to enjoy the property until it was, this included bars, restaurants and all water activities.

The room was spacious, clean and included robes. I had a garden view, at Couples San Souci I must say they are big on nature so the property is like a rain forest, they are so many trees which makes it conducive to the utmost relaxation for nature lovers, thumbs up for this.
Every team member I interacted with—from housekeeping staff, water sports staff, servers and supervisors at the restaurants and bars —was exceptional. They went out of their way to make sure every moment was perfect, always asking if you are okay or just warmly greeting you upon passing.

Dining at the  restaurants were amazing. The breakfast buffet  had a wide variety of  local and international offerings. Lunch and dinner  were equally exquisite and the true Jamaican flavors were on offering,  spicy.

The property has multiple pools and jacuzzis, a wide variety of water activities and attentive competent watersports staff to ensure utmost enjoyment. I loved the swim up bar, bar tender was attentive, pleasant and engaging with the guests.

The absolutely best part of my stay was my interaction with the staff. Special mention must be made of the gentleman from housekeeping that came to clean up after  water was dripping from the AC on the night of July 8th. He was so apologetic and genuinely concerned about our comfort.
The supervisor at Palazzina that worked on the night of July 7th, you ensured that we got something extra from room service. Thank you 😊
Muta from watersports, ensured I got a personal guided tour on my snorkeling trip.
It was greatly appreciated.

Couples San Souci isn't just a hotel,  it's an experience that leaves you wanting more and will have you planning your return trip before you check out.

Simply the best.

Just back from our second visit.
This is by far and away the best resort we have ever been too.
Having spend 14 days their we did not want to come home.
Food is first class , rooms are spacious and well maintained.
For an English man the no tipping policy is heaven sent.
Pool are clean drinks are well known brands including the mixers.
Entertainment staff are engaging and the evening entertainment is good.
Sunset beach is a must.

The only thing that was not great was the Wi-Fi in our room (a112) it kept dropping out, which made ordering for the mimi bar and dinner reservations tough at times.

Returners dinner both weeks was magic, first class menu and service.

All in all we will be back again and I can not imagine going to any other resort in Jamaica.

Simply the the best

Breathtaking sunsets

“This is a stunning resort surrounded by lush greenery, serene beaches, and calm, crystal-blue waters. The food is exceptional, the drinks are top-notch, and the entire property is simply breathtaking. entire property is beautifully maintained. It would be lovely if the beach seating were upgraded, but aside from that, everything was phenomenal.

A pleasant break from weather in Ireland. Martina

The resort is small with 3 restaurants. The food is of a very high standard, particularly the Casanova Restaurant.
The rooms are spacious and fairly modern with a good sized bathroom.
The aircon in our room was new and made sleeping very comfortable. On the down side the extractor fan in the bathroom did not work which left the room a little damp. This in turn prevented the phone chargers from working but reception charged our phones without fuss.
The beach at the main part of the hotel was quiet and relaxing with a pool only a few yards from the clean sandy beach.
The staff were very helpful generally and some went above and beyond to greet and make guests comfortable. A special mention for Ivaney in room service, Carol in the breakfast area who sings gracefully every morning and Yasheken who greets guests at Palazzina. Lloyd and Herde in bar service were very helpful and approachable and Machugh was a good entertainment host/coordinator.

If I could make some suggestions, I would ask that complimentary access for boat trips etc are better explained and that staff in the customer service area are more approachable for help and guidance. As the face of the hotel, I think some… could be more pleasant and strive harder to offer assistance for new guests who have not been before.

I would rate the hotel as 4 star in comparison to others we have visited in the Caribbean, mostly because of restaurant options, room finish and size of the complex.

Dunno what people are complaining about!

OK, so last year's review was a bit 1st World problem-y, but I take it all back! This visit was first class all the way. The room was excellent, the food was excellent, the company was (mostly) excellent, the staff were excellent. Alright, I'll stop. Everything was excellent!

Shout out to the staff: Alex, Ashley, Barrington, Camille, Daviere, Fayon, Junior (Rock guy), Kevawn, Kericea (Care Bear), Lloyd, Matthew, Mickhugh, Mikal (Breaker of Pina Colada machine!), Nadia, Phillip, Rajay, Shanae (Nae-Nae), Trudy-Ann, Turbo, and Zoya! You were all amazing!

Thank you so much for letting us participate in the Independence Day Parade, it was a blast!

Only discovered the Java Cafe last year but it's a great place to get a specialty coffee (or tea!)

Repeaters dinner was phenomenal!

Tips: bring long pants for Casanova reservations; check politics at the door; keep your hands to your own party people!

One of the most beautiful resorts

We have now been twice to the resort and give it almost 5 stars 🌟 and is a perfect relaxing vacation and would highly recommend to anyone to experience, will detail all the great points below, but to start a few bits that let the down.

The website states this an adults ONLY and couples ONLY resort on both visits we have seen families there with children (they may be over 18) but still parents with children and single people with friends. When taking to management they say this is not the case but after speaking to these guests it certainly is and families and non-couples and single people visit. When you check in no ID is requested for proof of age and a head count is not done to sure everyone attending is in a two. One comment for a manager is that they can not discriminate…..so as long as a room is booked brothers/sisters/aunts/uncles etc can go as the management says this defines a ‘couple’ so except families to be there even though the company sells it self as adults only and couples and no checks are done on single guests.

That aside the families and single people that we have seen there were no issues, but if you go on a adults only/couples resort you don’t expect to see families and children there as no checks are done at booking in on ages etc.

The resort is amazing and the still are pretty much faultless is testimony that so many staff have worked there for managers years and a big percentage of guests are returnees. There are just so many good things say about the resort. There are little bits that do need a little work but you will get that anywhere.

A recommendation would be for the resort to get another one or two restaurants to get more variety, buy the land between the main beach and sunset beach to make the resort even bigger and more spectacular.

The sunset beach and pool side is a little tired and needs a good freshen up to the standards of the rest of the resort and maybe dredge the beach as very stony going into the sea which puts people off even if you are wearing water shoes, the main beach is stunning 😍

The entirety of the resort is spectacular and is so relaxing if that is what you want (more could be done with the area around the pond) as found do so much.

The staff are all amazing did not find one could complain about and they are all passionate about their jobs and delivering a good service (tipping NOT allowed) a special mention to the three entertainment team staff they make the resort and are great with the guests and are excellent to anyone’s needs. If you want a relaxing vacation/honeymoon and want to be left alone is fine, if you want to be doing activities each day, water sports, trips they can cater to this at no extra costs.

Not much is said about the sunset beach/ Au Natural, if this is something you consider or like, I hear is very relaxed and friendly and there are strict guidelines in place to ensure everyone’s safry and comfort from no cameras/phones and any inappropriate behaviour between couples or others guests is not tolerated as they want guests to feel comfortable whilst there.

If you are looking for a relaxing break with a partner this is the place. The costings are on the higher side BUT….

Rooms amazing
FREE mini bar - replaced every day
Amazing quality food
Great drinks
Stunning grounds
Amazing staff
FREE water sports
Other guests very friendly…..this we don’t mind paying a premium cost for the resort.

If they can address a few of the little issues we have found and other guests this could be a World winning resort, just need to action the feedback they are given.

We will be back next year.
