It was OK.

I came to Couples Negril with high expectations as I had gone to Couples San Souci 15 years ago for my honeymoon. I haven’t found anything to beat that yet.
Couples Negril was nice and quite small, which I like. The beach….which I chose this place for that reason, did not disappoint. The ocean was clear, seaweed free and calm and the beach was clean.
The food wasn’t bad at all but found the breakfast buffet kind of repetitive but good. The only thing I didn’t like was the pastry station. Those may be about 10 bees flying around at any one time, which I could deal with as bees don’t carry germs, but birds would go in and pack at the pastries. Some kind of cover would’ve been good, so that put me off from that section.
The service in general was kind of lackluster and slow in some areas. All the people I met who worked there were there were very nice.
The entertainment in the evening, though the people were good at what they do it was not very exciting. I did love the steel drums show the best.
Couples Negril is orientated around water sports like diving snorkeling and cruises, which was pretty good that I did not go diving.
I wrote them an email before I went asking if I could possibly not be placed in a room right next to the road as I heard it is very noisy. Not only was our place right next to the road, but directly in front of our door was the cleaning supply station. It was noisy from about 7 AM till about nine or 10 PM at night. there should not be a room right there. It wouldn’t of been bad as we are usually outmost of the day in the evening but this time I’ve got here particular in June is rainy season so every day for several hours it would rain any time between noon and 5 PM so it’s not like we could go back to the room relax and have a nap though we did go back to our room but we could not relax or have a nap. And even the TV was horrible. The sound quality was like watching an old VSH tape from the 80s. I didn’t feel like paying extra to upgrade as I thought paying near $4000 a couple, for one week, was plenty and for that price I would expect no rooms to be that noisy with a horrible TV and very spotty Wi-Fi.
The rooms are clean and the cleaners come out every day to do what they usually do. Though the rooms in no way a four star hotel quality. They are very basic and there was mold in the bathroom.
We did go to the local craft market, but didn’t stay as long as I would’ve liked because of the pressure of….come here, come here, come and look at this. I’ll make you a deal. it was nonstop and uncomfortable if they would learn that tourist like to browse at their own leisure without being haggled, people wouldn’t leave as quickly I would spend more leisurely time looking around and buying more things. And then we did have a quick visit to Rick‘s Café when it opened as that like a must do while in the grill Jamaica.
We also did the swap one day with Couples Swept away. It was a lovely resort but very long and lots of walking from one to the other. The ocean itself was not as calm and you couldn’t just float on the float beds without paying attention or you would drift down the coast.
All in all, I would not return here and I was quite bored by the end of the week, though I am not a person that likes to return to the same place again as I like to see different places and areas and have new experiences.

More busy pool party than romance get away. Still a beautiful place with lovely staff.

We stayed at Couples Negril in February 2025. Meant to post this review earlier, life got in the way.

We had stayed at a different Couples resort twice before and were keen to try out Couples Negril after our previous great experiences. This resort has 234 rooms located in numbered blocks set amongst tropical gardens. The communal areas and restaurants are all located centrally on the property. The resort is bordered at the front by a coastal road and small airport and at the back by the beach. On each side of the Couples property are very large resort complexes along the stretch of beautiful beach.

On arrival, we were enthusiastically greeted with “welcome home” and refreshed with a cool cloth and a glass of bubbly and once checked in, we were taken to our rooms. This was done by one staff member leading a group of about 12 new guests. She gave a running speech about different aspects of the resort as we tried to keep up and hear what she had to say. She asked for our room numbers and we all followed behind her as she dropped each couple off at their respective accommodation block, with the instruction to follow the numbers and you will find your room. We found this method of allocating rooms lacking the personal warm touch we would have expected from Couples; after a long flight and over 2 hours on a bus from the airport, we did not feel “welcomed home” at this point. Our luggage was delivered to our room very quickly after our arrival.

In the room there was a Spa brochure and the welcome pack given to us at the check-in desk included a leaflet about the daily entertainment and activities but there was a distinct lack of general information about the workings of the resort. So, we found ourselves having to repeatedly ask and really dig around to get the simple answers we needed to find our way in the beginning. Specifically, there is a guest portal on the web that you can log into by means of a QR code, to make reservations, bookings and orders within the resort but we had not been informed about this or missed this information in our rush to follow behind when being taken to our room. We only found out about it after two days into our stay when we went on one of our information gathering episodes.

The room was smaller than we expected. The furniture consisted of a large comfortable bed with two very large bedside tables, a TV above a cabinet with a mini fridge and a single small chair. Other than the bed there was nowhere in the room to sit and relax and in particular, there was nowhere comfortable to sit and eat if you ordered room service. The balcony had a small knee high table and two large Papasan type chairs which were not comfortable to sit in for long periods. The room was dark and poorly lit, however the bathroom was bright. The bathroom had a louvered sliding door and a louvered glass less window opening towards the external landing causing a lack of privacy both in and out of the room. At first glance the room seemed clean but after a closer look it was dusty, the ceiling fan blades had not been cleaned for some time and were covered in a dark fuzz and there were grimy corners in the bathroom. There is a coffee maker in the room taking coffee pods and there were also sachets of sugar, coffee creamer and tea if you prefer. The room was refreshed each day; however we did experience difficulty getting more coffee and our mini fridge restocked due to lack of information about how to do this using the guest portal but that was resolved after much asking and chasing for the answers.

When booking a holiday we look for small, adult only resorts with a relaxed, romantic atmosphere. We found this resort to be very busy, most likely in part due to the time of year. Contrary to its name, there seemed to be many large groups of guests which dampened the “romantic” feel of the place. It was possible to find quiet areas around the resort but the pools, hot tubs and bars were continually dominated by these groups making those areas feel unwelcome for us and for this reason we did not use the main pool or swim up bar during our stay opting instead to spend the majority of our time on the beach.

The beach was fabulous with plenty of loungers, chairs and space. It was extremely tidy and well maintained by the grounds staff and water sports teams. The sea was calm and clear and with the chair cushions doubling as water floats this was a great way to spend a day. Bar service on the beach was very good and frequent so we were never really without something to drink. The beach is obviously public and there was a constant stream of beach walkers from the other resorts as well as locals selling their services, which all added to the atmosphere although we would have preferred a little less traffic.

We ate at 4 of the offered restaurants. Breakfast is served buffet style at the Cassava Terrace; it opens at 7:30 and it is very busy right from the start. However if you are desperate for a coffee or latte beforehand, the Java Café opens at 7:00 but it is also very busy, so be prepared to stand in line. Our best dining experience was at Oteheite; reservations are necessary for this restaurant and you can only reserve 48 hours beforehand, so availability is limited. The Heliconia is also busy at night and there can be line ups waiting to be seated. All of the restaurants serve from rotational menus that repeat, however the Cassava does have a buffet some evenings. Generally we found the food to be good but were surprised how mild the “jerk” option was, for being in Jamaica. In most instances our food was served lukewarm on scorching hot plates; we would have rather had hot food served on warm plates. The service in all the restaurants was exceptional. They could never do enough for you and most were extremely pleasant and genuine. We also found that we were served in good time and there was never a long wait for anything we ordered.

We indulged in a spa treatment even though the prices seemed a bit high. The spa is lovely and the staff pleasant and professional. Although the massage was amazing there was an extremely aggressive up selling campaign to get you to upgrade or buy more services which was not pleasant, especially as a repeated “no thanks” was not the answer they wanted. It made for an uncomfortable start to what should have been a relaxing event; we assumed it is the hurdle that we had to cross in order to get an excellent massage.

Couples Resorts are known for their return customers, some returning for many years. Couples Resorts are good at recognising this loyalty and reward these customers through their Romance Reward Scheme and the Repeaters Dinner during their stay. You can recognise customers that return frequently as they have established relationships with many of the staff and there is great familiarity shown between them. It is wonderful that these friendships develop and it can make your stay at a place like Couples that bit extra special if you are one of these customers. However, if you are not, it dampens the experience when a repeater is shown preferential treatment above other customers who have been waiting patiently for a particular service.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Jamaica and at Couples Negril. There were some niggles and frustrations and although we enjoyed ourselves and left with an overall good feeling, we did not consider this to be the romantic couples holiday that we had hoped for. Would we go back to this particular Couples resort? Probably not, as it did not equal the experience we had received at the other Couples resort, so we would most likely consider returning to our previous choice of resort. It was worth the try.

Couples Resort Negril was awesome

We had a fantastic time at Couples Negril. We went in May 2025 for our Honeymoon and felt welcome from the time we arrived at the resort. The ride from Sangster Airport was approximately 1.5 hours. The bus driver narrated the different areas we were traveling through and the bus was air conditioned and comfortable. We utilized Club Mobay to ensure our process through the airport went swiftly. The resort has four restaurants and the food variety was great. The drinks were delicious and they have resort workers who check on you frequently while lounging on the beach and brings drinks, water, etc. There are activities throughout the day and all the water activities are included through the resort. We snorkeled, kayaked, and took a Catamaran which toured Seven Mile Beach and pointed out all the resorts to us. You also have the option to visit Couples Swept Away, which is several miles down the road, for the day to compare the two. We utilized the Spa services and got a couples massage which was phenomenal. It usually rains everyday for 1-2
Hours in the afternoon but it’s so relaxing hearing the rain through the plush trees and vegetation, we looked forward to the daily rain. There are activities into the night which included DJ, karaoke, a beach party and more. It’s really a great place for couples to connect with one another. We loved it so much, we cancelled our cruise next year and will book our anniversary trip to Couples Negril.

Our Spiritual Home!

Couples Negril is our spiritual home and we have just returned home after our 26th visit to the resort. Once again the holiday was perfect. The food and service is faultless and the staff throughout are superb. Special thanks as always to the team in the dive shop who make every visit memorable, we love you. On our last night we ate in the Otaheite restaurant where we were presented with wine of our choice and a beautiful cake celebrating it was our 365th day spent at our favourite resort. The General Manager even popped in to say thank you and presented my wife with a gift. We can't wait to see you again next year!

The beach is heaven on earth!

Just returned from a week long stay. We took our four grown children with their spouses/significant other to celebrate our 4oth wedding anniversary and our youngest was also on her honeymoon and we celebrated several birthdays.

First of all, the beach was one of the top beaches we've stayed on, having been over 25 to various resorts on multiple Caribbean islands and Mexico. It was calm and crystal clear blue. There were always plenty of loungers with shade and the floaties they provide and beach chairs to sit right in water were game changers! Yes, there is a nude beach section and it's not really private. You pass them if you take on walk on the beach in that direction but unless you have really excellent eye sight and/or stand there and gawk, you don't really see much. We talked to many people that used it and absolutely love it...so to each their own!

The rooms were clean and adequate. We stayed in room 6305 which had a beautiful view and was so conveniently located (which most rooms were). It was right next to the Cassava Terrace restaurant which had some nightly entertainment but it didn't bother us and it didn't last late into the night. It's awesome that you get to pick out your mini bar options. The bathroom had good lighting but the one complaint was our shower was super hard to regulate the temperature and the water pressure was not good. Our kids all had hand held showers in addition to the rain fall shower heads but we did not have the hand held shower which would have helped a lot.

The food was good overall. We ate at the Otaheite twice and both times it was excellent. We also did an ala carte night at the Cassava Terrace and it was also excellent (the snapper with herb aioli was the BEST!). The Lychee was just okay at best. I asked for some soy sauce for my noodles and they said they were out!?! We didn't make it to Heliconia. We always ate at the beach grill for lunch. The burgers and fish sandwich were good. The jerk chicken was a huge disappointment though. The chicken was good but the sauce was the worst we've ever had for jerk sauce....too much vinegar I think. Breakfast buffet was just average for an AI. A better fresh fruit selection would have been nice. It also would have been nice if there was another option for a sit down menu option at the beach for breakfast.

The staff was usually friendly but there could be improvement overall. Shout out to Tennyson and O'rielle for always taking good care of us. We were extremely disappointed that they would not accommodate our party of 10 people at the Otheite restaurant to celebrate our anniversary with our children. I even emailed them before we arrived explaining our celebrations and that we planned and saved a long time to pay for our family for this trip.

You can get some decent walks in on the beach. Walking past the vendors was no problem and we got the $1/minute massages on two different days which were very good. (Kady and Nicole)

There are a LOT of repeat guests at this resort just because they love the small size and laid back vibe. If you're wanting a LOT of action, see elsewhere. Otherwise you will not be disappointed choosing Couples Negril!

Top 4* plus experience

Positives:
All inclusive really means all inclusive here - water sports, alcohol, all restaurants, mini bar, racket sports, daily activities, snorkelling trip, boat trips.
Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
Food and drink is good quality. 4 restaurants (1 buffet style), all with different themes. Drinks are premium brands and all included.
Rooms are nice, all a/c, good size, mini bar, good shower, balconies, tv. wifi.
Wifi works all around the resort and on the beach with no dead spots whatsoever.
Very civilised atmosphere and clientele. No children allowed, and most adults are mid aged to elderly so there's no disorderly drunks or trouble.
No tipping is allowed, the policy means you get great service throughout the holiday with no need to worry about how much cash to carry around after already paying upfront for your premium holiday

Negatives:
Not many negatives at all. It's a top end 4* hotel, even though Tui has it rated as 5*. For an all inclusive beach resort holiday it's up there with the best.
At the airport you are put in to the couples lounge to wait for your transfer, this is nice, but when the bags are waiting to be moved from the lounge to the bus, the Couples representative makes a point of asking you to tip the baggage handler as they are not part of the Couples service. Not a great start to a no tipping policy when you didn't ask for you bags to be moved the mere 25 meters to the bus, or have any cash because you've just got off the flight. The Coupes staff should move the bags for you (they accompany you to the vehicle anyway), or ask before they give them to an airport porter.
Some of the daily activities get cancelled or the times get amended without notice. The website also needs updating with regards to which activities are on which days.

Overall, a really nice experience, and one of the best all inclusive package resorts we've been to.

4.5 stars! I wish TripAdvisor had an option for half stars lol

For context, my husband and I are avid fans of Couples Resorts. We have now stayed at all 4 of them! We have stayed at Couples Swept Away 6 times and one time at Couples Sans Souci, Couples Tower Isle, and Couples Negril. We did a day pass at Couples Negril in 2021 when staying at Swept Away and weren't impressed so we never planned on staying there. However, after staying at the others... we figured we had to at least give it a try and, boy, are we glad we did! We enjoyed it much more than we were expecting to!

Overall, this resort is amazing. The beach is pristine, the small/intimate layout of the resort creates more of a social environment, the main pool was impressive, and we enjoyed the entertainment.

ROOM: We celebrated our 10 year anniversary during our recent trip to Jamaica so we splurged and booked a Beachfront Suite. The room was gorgeous and spacious, but could use some refreshing. Some of the outlets and switches didn't work, there were chips in the tile, and the paint is looking tired. We were extremely disappointed by the location of our first room... we booked a Beachfront Suites for the amazing views and, unfortunately our requests during pre-check-in were not able to be honored... we were placed in room 9109, the only Beachfront Suite with zero ocean view... first floor in building 9, right behind the AN beach. The large trees/bushes that surround the AN beach completely obstructed our view of the ocean. It's a great room category for guests who like to spend their days at the AN beach, but that's not us. haha Building 9 also had a lot of noise from the Royalton next door, especially at night. We only stayed at CN for 3 nights but they were able to move us to an amazing 3rd floor Beachfront Suite in Building 1 for our last night. The views were amazing! To be entirely honest, I think it's kinda ridiculous that these two rooms are even considered the same category because they are so vastly different.

BEACH: Couples Negril offers one of the best beaches in Negril. It's in a great location on Bloody Bay where the sand and water are pristine. It's deep and long with plenty of seating. The shade is a little more scarce since Hurricane Beryl but there was still enough for everyone to have some if they wanted it. There are vendors on the beach, but they were not disruptive. There is a lot of boat traffic nowadays and since Bloody Bay is a smaller cove, the boat traffic is almost constant... it felt like there was a boat speeding past towing a tube every few minutes. They tend to travel just barely outside of the ropes separating off the swimming area and the wakes the boats create stir up the water quite a bit. It seemed like sometimes they were intentionally stirring up the water in order to get attention from the guests... maybe in an attempt to attract customers? Though that seems like a bad business practice. haha

POOLS: Couples Negril has one of the best pools we've seen at a Couples Resort. Definitely better than the pool at CSA. The swim-up bar had plenty of space and everything has been well-maintained. We liked the dive pool for a quieter environment and loved the hot tub that was tucked away over there.

SERVICE: Service was consistently good but not particularly great. Bartenders were accommodating, but not as friendly as what we're used to when visiting Jamaica. Most of our servers were kind and efficient. The only exception was our experience at Lychee. I believe since we were there pretty late, everyone just wanted us to finish and leave so they could close. The hostess was not particularly welcoming and our server was clearly impatient. We absolutely loved the young lady working the coffee shop. I'm forgetting her name at the moment, but I made sure to note her on our comment card. She was always so sweet and had such a beautiful personality! Always smiling and content. :)

FOOD/DRINKS: Overall, CN had our least favorite food out of all the Couples Resorts. This isn't to say it was bad, necessarily, but we've preferred the food at the other resorts. Breakfast was good but the omelet station was always quite slow. The veggie bar had some good options for a lighter lunch and we loved the self-serve pizza at the beach/pool grill. The other food at the beach/pool grill was fine with the exception of the burgers which tasted very frozen. I loved the option of pizza and the ice cream machine being available with the grill for a late night snack! The tortilla chips for the nachos were delish, as well! We had dinner at the fine dining restaurant, Otaheite, on our first night. Service was great, and we enjoyed the appetizers and soup but both our entrees (beef tenderloin and lamb chops) were very over cooked. Our meal at Lychee was good but we preferred the Asian restaurants at the other resorts. We never ordered room service so I can't speak to that. The pizza at Heliconia for dinner was to die for.

GYM: The gym at CN is small, but adequate. It has air conditioning which was a welcome feature considering we're used to working out in the open-air gym at CSA! There was a good variety of equipment and it was pretty well maintained.

ENTERTAINMENT: CN definitely had the best entertainment and nightlife we've experienced at a Couples resort. I absolutely loved the fire dancers! The piano bar and night club always had quite the crowd in there, too. Much more than we've seen before and it looked like everyone was having a great time! The daily activities were fun and the entertainment team was great at getting people involved in whatever was going on at the time.

Praises:
- The towels were always out first thing in the morning! We really appreciated that.
- Everything is centrally located so it's easy to get around the resort without having to walk very far.
- A little less foot traffic than at CSA and the vendors are less disruptive
- The pool is beautiful
- The beach/pool grill is huge with great seating, a huge bar, and tons of fans. The self-serve snack options were great, too! It's a great spot to hang out during the rain.
- I loved that all the dinner menus were posted over by the Beach Grill during the day

Critiques:
- Bartenders could be a little more welcoming/friendly
- In my honest opinion, room 9108 should almost be considered a Garden Suite... or an Obstructed Beachfront Suite or something. It shouldn't be considered the same category as the other Beachfront Suites
- The beach could benefit from some more shade options
- The constant boat traffic was pretty annoying, especially since the bay is so small

Great Vacation on a Tropical Island!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Couples Negril. Our room was large and had a nice view of the ocean. The maid cleaned twice a day and kept it neat in spite of all our scuba gear. The food and drinks were good and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The pool and beach were very nice. The real star of the show for us was the scuba dive team and diving experience. The captain, dive masters and instructors are all great…huge shout out to Sugar, Richard’s, Byron, Courtney, etc. The reef is healthy and full of sea life…sharks, turtles, lobster, lionfish, barracuda, and tons of small colorful fish. This is not a Ritz Carlton, but a great vacation for the money.

Another Amazing Trip Home!

This was our 3rd stay at Couples Negril (CN), we have stayed at Couples Swept Away (CSA) 2 times and Couples Tower Isle (CTI) 1 time previously and loved ever single moment of each trip back home! While there this July 31 thru August 8, my wife and I decided without a shadow of doubt that CN is our favorite of the Couples Resorts we have been to!

We stayed in building 5 and loved loved loved our room on the 2nd floor! The view of the beach, Caribbean sea and the magical sunset each night was outstanding! The entire housekeeping crew did an amazing job, the room was spotless everyday and the turn down service and towel critters was a great touch! WAY TO GO TEAM!!!!!!

Mini bar was stocked and ready for when we walked in, Excellent service by way of the QR code app for replenishing the wines, alcohol, beers and soft drinks. Godfrey was the MAN!!!

Food was excellent with plenty of choices at each location, we loved Heliconia at night and the beach grill during the day, can you say Jerk Chicken every day!? OH YEA!! Shanice and Dane were gold medal all the way! The beach bar was also a favorite stop, usually our first Pina Colada and Dirty Banana of the day was served up by the staff there, AWESOME ladies!!!!!!
Otaheite restaurant was over the top good! The filet was melt in your mouth amazing and the scallops were huge and full of flavor!
Casava Terrace (buffet) was very good as well, we only ate there 1 time for dinner and 1 time for breakfast, reason being, we over eat because everything is soooo good we can't stop!
Lychee (Asian) is one of our favorites for sure! Apps, sushi, noodles, etc etc.....and the soups are to die for at ALL the restaurants....don't miss out!
Can't forget, coffee, juice, pastries and fruit delivered to our room every morning, OMG what a way to start the day! Pastry chef wins the prize for sure!!!!

BIG shout out to IvyLynn, what a sweetheart and an AMAZING bar tender!

Entertainment every night by the house band or featured performers was always professional and very worth taking in! Silver Birds steel drum entertainment group is always the headliner for us! ENERGY and TALENT!!!!!
Piano bar / Disco is always fun and usually worth some laughs! After drinking all day and building up liquid courage, the signing, dancing and re-living some past talents we all think we still have is a lot of fun....go for it!!!

Repeat guests have a real gem when it comes to someone to reach out too at the resort. Tavoya is so helpful, genuine and a true Couples Ambassador! Stop upstairs and say hi and let her help you rebook ASAP!

We cannot remember all the names of the wonderful people who made our return home so enjoyable, I wish I could list them all, they deserve so much praise and thanks!
Thank you Couples Staff for your amazing efforts and hard work for us!
We will see you at Home in 2026, Irie and Respect!

Beautiful Beach, But Service & Food Were a Big Disappointment

We stayed at Couples Resort Negril from August 1st to August 7th, 2025. This trip had been over 10 years in the making for us,we loved the idea of a couples-only resort, and we’ve always loved Negril. We’ve visited Negril many times before, but this was our first time at this property.

Unfortunately, I left very disappointed.

Service was hit or missed. Some staff were OK, but others were outright rude, which is unacceptable for a resort in this price range. The most frustrating part was the constant lack of menu items. 4 out of 6 times we ordered Jamaican patties, they were “out.” Room service was the same story,if they didn’t have something, they would simply bring what they had without asking. For example, we ordered two wraps and onion rings but only got the onion rings because “they didn’t have wraps.”

The worst example was at the Japanese restaurant. We sat down, ordered sushi, and were told they didn’t have any. At an all-inclusive resort, this was shocking.

Food and service were the biggest letdowns. Management presence was non-existent. The woman at the towel station was literally sleeping almost every time we went to get towels.

On the positive side, the beach was stunning, the rooms were beautiful, and housekeeping did a great job. This resort could be excellent, but it needs serious improvements in service and food availability.

We also tried the “Trading Places” program to visit Couples Swept Away, and that was another disappointment. We enjoyed the beach there, but the bar experience was terrible. I ordered a vodka tonic, and the bartender gave me club soda instead. When I politely explained, she said, “I pressed the T for tonic,” but it still wasn’t right, and she remade it with club soda again, clearly not listening.

At the end of the day, we made the best of our vacation, but for the high cost, this resort failed to deliver the basics, good service, polite staff, and consistent food availability.

Bottom line: If you want a nice beach and beautiful scenery, Couples Resort Negril delivers. If you’re looking for excellent service and reliable food, look elsewhere. Sadly, I can't recommend it.

Great resort for a group of friends!

Just about to leave Couples Negril in the morning and wanted to write a review to call out all the great things this resort did and a couple of improvements it could try out.

First to set the stage we are here as a couple with 3 other couples celebrating a birthday.

The biggest thing to call out here are the staff, they are amazing and really want you to have a great and Human experience while at the resort. The food has been good, the entertainment staff amazing! They kept the days flying by, especially the team at the swim up bar, they kept everyone topped up and a smile all day.

We had a some amazing Scuba dives led by Oooooomar! Who is an amazing dive master that helps all of us in order as we explored, including a great night dive! The boat was captained by Byron who also was great at helping out.

We had some great service at the restaurants, and most recently have Kevin take great care of our whole party ensuring we all had the right meals and apps.

Honestly this had been a great vacation and would highly recommend people check it out.

Oo. And the catamaran was a to of fun led by Party Captain DEX! It is a must do.

Couple of areas of feedback for the resort.
The Lychee restaurant is… underwhelming, and could use some focus and attention. Staff are good but the food is not good. Suggest you pick one Asian cuisine, bring in external help and own the menu.

Night time you need a few more spots for hanging out, Piano bar is fun but after a few nights you want something new, with AC and there is no other option.

Final note, this place is a lot of fun for groups of friends, lots of day time activities, amazing staff and great value when you take advantage of all it offers. We will be back.

Paradise found at Couples Negril

This was our third visit to Jamaica, but our first time at a Couples resort. It’s safe to say we’ve found our go to spot in Negril and so glad we decided to stay here to celebrate our wedding 26th wedding anniversary! Couples Negril is quaint, easy to navigate, and feels intimate, just a few minutes’ walk from one end to the other.

Rooms:
We stayed in Block 5, top floor (note: no elevators, so consider accessibility needs). Our balcony overlooked the sea, with breathtaking sunsets every evening.
The room was perfect without an upgrade.
The bed was firm and comfy (great for us).
The bathroom was a good size—though I’m not a fan of rainfall showerheads, everything else (water pressure, temperature) was spot on.
The bar fridge was restocked daily, housekeeping was excellent, and morning coffee and pastries delivered to our room became a daily treat by using the online app.
AC worked perfectly.

Dining:
Dining was a major win for us, as no daily reservations required (except for Otaheite, the fine dining restaurant). We loved the freedom of walking up and being seated anytime.
The food was very good, plentiful, and varied. Not Michelin star, but consistently enjoyable. We stayed 10 days and never got bored.
Favourites: Veggie Bar, Lychee, and Cassava Terrace (especially breakfast with fresh omelettes and fruit). Jerk Chicken, I miss you already.
Drinks were well-made and generous. Tip: bring a tumbler from home instead of using plastic cups.

Staff:
The staff truly make Couples Negril shine. While there were a few who seemed less enthusiastic (as is the case anywhere), most were exceptional, kind, and hardworking.
Special mentions:
Donna (Cassava + Beach Grill Terrace)
Shemaree aka Uncle Maree (morning pool fitness)
Franchesca (entertainment)
Shevon (pool bar)
The lovely lady at the coffee bar
We loved chatting with them, learning about their families, and sharing smiles.

Beach:
The beach is the absolute highlight of this resort. One of the best we’ve seen in decades of travel. Powder soft sand, crystal clear water, no sargassum. Great for long walks, plenty of chairs and shade. Walk all the way past the resorts and get some beach steps in.
Floats provided on every chair (no need to pack your own). No fighting for loungers.
Vendors were respectful and kept moving along if you politely said, "no thanks, mon." Donovan’s daily singing and guitar was well worth a small tip. (Ask him to sing “Wrap It Up”—you’ll be glad you did!)
We saw fish, starfish, and even rays passing by.

Au Naturel Beach:
We tried it! (when in Rome!) A totally judgment-free zone. We’ll probably use it more next time now that we’ve “ripped the bandaid off.”
Downsides: no breeze due to barriers, so it gets very hot (especially in August), and no pool. A few more shade palapas would be a big improvement. Security does an excellent job keeping curious walkers from neighbouring resorts moving along.

Activities & Entertainment:
Couples Negril strikes a perfect balance of relaxation and fun.
Options included: kayaking, paddleboards, snorkle, scuba, glass bottom boat, catamaran, water bikes, billiards, trivia, bingo, fitness classes, and live entertainment. The night bonfire, so awesome. You rarely see beach entertainment at night and we absolutely loved this part. We also loved the balcony swings overlooking the pool deck and terrace. Such a nice tough and we went here every night after dinner to enjoy the music and views.
We loved that the vibe was chill, not spring-break loud. Guests were like minded, here to relax and not party hard. If you’re looking for a high energy, party resort, this isn’t it. If you want peace, connection, and fun activities, it’s perfect.

Massage (Offsite):
We booked a twilight cliffside massage at Tanya’s Secret Escape in Negril.
Private car transport was sent for us. $150 for both massages + $40 for roundtrip taxi.
Hands-down the best, most relaxing massage of our lives. Sunset overlooking the sea while being massaged—unforgettable.

Pool:
The pool is a good size with a fun swim up bar.
In August, the water felt like a warm bath (still refreshing after the heat).
Pool is aging, some cracked tiles and grout work needed. Lots of loungers, but a few more umbrellas for shade would be appreciated.

Overall Impressions:
Couples Negril won our hearts. It doesn’t have the glitzy glam of some mega resorts. It’s more vintage, authentic Caribbean charm, which we found incredibly appealing.
We felt we got excellent value compared to other places without having that underlying "levels/butler/premium/exclusive" upgrades. Here, everything feels unilateral with no added fluff. It's one size, fits all essentially which was so refreshing. Couples, please do not every change this.
Only suggestion: offer an onsite rebooking promotion and make it evident. We would’ve taken it in a heartbeat. We saw signs to "rekindle and rebook". But a great option would be to actually deliver an offer to a traveller and one that would be hard to pass up. I am a softie for being caught in the moment and just wanting to come back when a super offer is presented to me.

After 10 glorious days, you won our hearts, Couples. Thank you for allowing us to celebrate 26 years of bliss in your beautiful home and country. ❤️

Beautiful Beaches

Couples Resort Negril
Pros:
The beach was beautiful
Security, we felt safe being at the resort
Entertainment on resort options, there were daily activities to do during the day (posted on blackboard), including Shamari water aerobics at 1100 am, trivia with Keana, and margarita tasting with Margaritaville staff, Veronica, Samathna. Special shout-out to bartender Carmetia at the patio bar, who made a special shot for us.
Also included are water activities, scuba diving, parasailing, water bikes, and catamaran nightly.
Cleanliness: the resorts, grounds, and rooms were kept clean.
Guest services were very helpful and organized with my wife's birthday cake
Cons:
The food options for special diets like vegan/plant-based were difficult; there were limited options, and no accommodations. An example we asked about a dish, whether the meat/almonds could be removed, and were told "no it's pre-made that way."
Buffets: there was only buffets for breakfast. (Most resorts we have been to have buffets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.)

Best tropical destination!

In a word….Amazing!
Have never had people so friendly and accommodating ! This rubs off on the patrons too!
Although there is so much to do it is still a Very relaxed atmosphere.
The room was very nice as well. Comfortable bed, great rain shower with good water pressure.
Requests for mini bar refill and room service was good as well
Balcony and water view were great.
Only thing I would change is having self serve ice and fresh water on each floor instead of only ground level
We were on the 3rd floor and didn’t mind that there was no elevator, but would have appreciated not climbing up & down the stairs for ice & water.
The water sports included were amazing and we liked the catamaran cruise the best!
The crew on the boat were very entertaining and we loved having the option to swim in the caverns and see the cliff divers.
Plenty of pool areas and jacuzzis and the food/service and bar service and bar was great.
Nice restaurants although we did not dine at the upscale restaurant due to policy of men having to wear pants. No exceptions to the rule even when tastefully dressed . We would have liked to since this was our 20th wedding anniversary. This is a vacation area and the weather was 89’ & humid.
But there many other dining options so it didn’t bother us too much.
Didn’t mind the local vendors. They were respectful when firmly told no
We did enjoy the local vendors set up as well and purchased their hand made articles
Beach area was beautiful as well. Able to bring floating chair covers into the water.
Guest services took care of setting up transportation when we requested to go to Ricks cafe.
Cannot say enough good about couples negril. Trip of a lifetime!

Well worth the 1 1/2 drive from Montego Bay.

This is our 17th visit to Couples Negril. We booked at the last muinute to go there for our 63rd Wedding Anniversary. We go every November for my Birthday. In September the water was much warmer than in November. The resort is much quieter. We were treated very well as usual. We enjoyed going to breakfast to be welcomed by Dean Reid. He is a pleasure to talk to. Up in the dress shop Karen was so helpful. They had a swim suit on display but not in my size. Karen called Couples Swept Away who delivered the size that I needed. Caroline, Gm,and Lisa Marie the front desk Manager made our Anniversary VERY memorable with private dinner in the Otaheite Restaurant and on the beach. The rooms are not as luxurious as other 5 star hotels but are comfortable. The beach has lots of seats and is safe to walk along. There is security in the resort and the Police patrol the beach. We are looking forward to going back in November.

A week in paradise

We just returned from Couples Negril , and we enjoyed every minute of it . It is located on Grace Bay extension of the 7 miles beach . The water is so clean and transparent that looks like a swimming pool . We didn't even go to the resort swimming pool except for a drink at the pool bar . What i like in the pool bar , is that it is separated from the pool itself , not like most resorts i went before . It gives a cleanliness to the pool itself
We had room 6307 on the third floor across from the main restaurant overlooking the ocean . As we return to the room late at night , we escape the sound of the entertainment program ( music mostly ) available in the restaurant before 10 pm . After 10 pm there is always things to enjoy in the Piano Bar like sing along , danse . Karaoke, where we spent out late evenings and nights , and the drinks at the bar were great and genuine
Did I mention that the service was great . Every one working in the resort does its best to please you . When you have a request like missing ice , they provide it as soon as possible . When you arrive in the resort , they greet you with a glass of bubbled wine and give you a bottle for you the keep . You can fill it with ice and water to take to the beach.
There are 4 restaurants . One is located near the beach , very convenient for lunch where you can enjoy a cob salad , burger , pizza or fries with a variety of sandwiches
Next , you have a French or Italian a la carte restaurant that serves excellent food . A Asian restaurant offers its specialties , but I do not eat Asian food or sushi .
Finally , you have the main restaurant the alternates between a la carte and open buffet . Tastes are different , but you can always find something that you like to eat
There is a coffee bar that serves fresh coffee daily also .
Beach is beautiful and you do not need to wake up early to book a spot in the shade , because there are so many trees offering shade areas everywhere. Did I mention that the resort was not even half full because it was in the low season , that could be the reason why we has so much choices in the beach to find easily shade areas.
I met people that returned to the resort several years in a row and are always happy to find the memories of each year vivid and renewed.
Finally a quick note about our room . It was clean and spotless , ac was uninterrupted and a ceiling fan added to the cool and freshness of the room . It is basically furnished , but functional . it has a well replenished mini bar too , and was sea front positioned with a balcony where you can sit and see the bay at an angle . I do not recall having seen a direct ocean front balcony in any room close to me . They had only windows .
The only point to mention is that the resort is 75 minutes away from the airport and traffic close to Montego Bay is very busy
