Not perfect,but verry good!

Very good value for money!
Lovelly pool and beach area,decent food,great day entertainment.
Some of the staff seem fed up with the customers,others should improve their English.
Overall we've had a good holliday and would definitely return to this hotel.

Disappointing food and service. Dirty rooms and poor plumbing.

We had a very bad experience at this resort. We had sewage come out of our shower and tub, if that wasn't bad enough the staff did not seem to care at all. We reported the issue and they didn't do anything to show care or concern. We were also without hot water for a day, this seems common at this resort. The restaurants were also much worse than we are used to at these types of resorts. It was hard to find a good meal and the reservation system is very difficult to navigate. We stayed on the adults only side, everyday they would pick a different spot and set up a huge speaker and blast music. This is great if you're trying to party but we were trying to relax. There is also a lot of harassment by the excursion and activity staff.

Horrible

This resort has many issues… the food is absolutely horrible. We did not have a working phone or television for 3 days. We were told tomorrow it would be fixed. We paid for privileged and we cannot get reservations to any of the restaurants that we want. Forget room service it is non existent… so very disappointing

People and service

I’m under impression from service people, they are amazing ! They tried do everything to make our holiday comfortable and pleasant, we had everything ! Very nice people here! And of course, amazing nature! Unfortunately, didn’t like Italian restaurant, but buffet was just great !

Vegan Experience

I was very worried prior to my visit about vegan food. Turns out, it wasn’t so bad! They have 2 buffets and both have signs on all of their signs and will indicate when it is vegan. (Although it was frustrating seeing a “vegan” beef and cheese wrap, tuna salad, etc… making me resort to using my best judgement most of the time unfortunately). They have pasta, veggies, rice, and a plethora of fruits. While I was left disappointed, I was grateful there was something. As for the dining restaurants, all of them were able to offer me vegan options. The italian restaurant had pasta and cheeseless pizza, the asian restaurant veggies and rice (and supposedly tofu, although I wasn’t served tofu), the tapas restaurant made me a custom veggie platter, and the steakhouse actually had a yummy vegan burger! Additionally, there is a smoothie stand with a few fruit-based smoothies, a pizza place willing to remove cheese on pizza (make sure to go when they aren’t busy, otherwise they may not be able to accommodate you.) And the spa has a vegan facial available! I would not say the majority of the servers know exactly what vegan is, some of them thinking it permits dairy or fish, etc… so I would be sure to either learn some vocabulary words to be able to describe veganism (sin lácteos, carne, pescado, manteca, mantequilla, huevos, etc). Overall a decent experience and definitely doable as a vegan, I would just be sure to bring some of your favorite snacks along just in case! Thank you Catalonia resort!

Terrible experience.

Where do I even begin. We traveled from Atlanta, Georgia for our friends bachelorette trip with very high hopes and were VERY disappointed. When we arrived at the check in desk, we were immediately told we had to upgrade our room to the privileged package in order to stay with the rest of our group. We were told the package included room service, discounts at the store and spa, and a private beach and bar. Not only was the private beach and bar not private, but you could not relax due to CONSTANTLY being accosted by solicitors trying to sell you things. These people were persistent and would not relent unless you were rude. In addition, the phone in our room did not work, nor did the website (which was acknowledged by the front desk) work, so we did not get to enjoy our room service amenity. We reported this issue every day and were completely ignored and blown off by staff. On that same note, any issue that was brought to the attention of the staff was blown off or dismissed. My friend attempted to ask about the amenities offered and was told, “you look tired. Go take a nap, eat something, and come back later,” and that was not even the worst of it. That is what promoted a meeting with the manager, who continually said, “we did not fail you on anything. None of your complaints apply here.” The food was subpar, the drinks were watered down, and the staff were rude and very un-accommodating. On a positive note, the overall aesthetic of the resort was lovely and well maintained. The bartenders were nice and enjoyed interacting with customers. That’s where the positive remarks ends. The room itself was ok, not the best not the worst. We had 4 total rooms with our group, and each room (although the same package) contained different amounts of towels, pillows, and other necessary items. One room even had stained sheets and couch cushions. Asking for more towels or pillows was unacceptable by the housekeeping staff, as they would blow you off or straight up say no. The food options were limited at certain times, even though it was advertised as all day availability. The snack bar at the pool, as well as the buffet, required full clothes and shoes, no exceptions. Once in the snack bar, the servers harass guests about keeping their coverups on, even though it is a stifling and sweltering heat due to no air circulation. The food options were limited and very tasteless. It was most disappointing being in a new country and never having even gotten to try their food. Unfortunately, all 9 of the girls in my group agree that due to the poor service and unwillingness to accommodate or even hear out our concerns, we will not be returning to this resort, nor the country of the Dominican Republic.
