Family stay

Kids Club stood out for me. The staff were amazing especially Nyoka( JoJo)She has the beautiful welcoming heart and always smiling .
Check -in and check-out was great. Travis Henry at receptionist was awesome. He listens and treated my family with the most welcoming to the hotel.
Getting to the hotel was no problem.
Overall during the stay it was ok. The room was always clean and stock with clean fresh towels. Noise level was ok. The shared spaces was very friendly and everyone always says hi or hello. The food was aweful and had no taste. At breakfast no hand towel and only coco cola, fruit punch , orange juice and pineapple was availble to drink. Fruits sometimes non-existent
The banana were always cold and rotten.

Great Family Vacation!

We had an incredible family vacation at Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica. One of the absolute highlights was the Kids Club GRAND JAMAICA. From day one, the staff made our children, feel welcomed, safe, and excited to participate in activities.

I was a bit nervous about sending our kids as we have never done something like that before, however, as parents, we felt completely at ease because the Kids Club staff kept us updated throughout the day by sending pictures via WhatsApp. It was such a comfort to see our kids smiling, playing, and enjoying themselves while we had some time to relax.

The variety of activities was amazing! From beach games, water park adventures, and pool time, to ice cream parties, movie nights, and even evening entertainment. Our kids were always excited to see what was planned next, and they came back each day full of joy and stories to share.

The Kids Club staff deserve special recognition: Nyoka (JoJo), Dahlian (DeeDee), Shanique, Britina (Brit), Jerome, and Anesia (Nesi). Their energy, professionalism, and genuine care created an unforgettable experience for our children and gave us true peace of mind as parents.

Room: Our room was spacious as a family of 4 and it was located in a space that made it easy to get to the different parts of the resort.

Food: Buffet was a hit with all of us, especially the kids as there was a variety of options to choose from (which is great for our picky eaters).

Staff: Staff was welcoming, funny and inviting - they made sure to keep us entertained and truly having fun

We cannot thank the team enough for their kindness and dedication. Families visiting this resort should absolutely take advantage of the Kids Club — it added so much joy to our vacation. We would highly recommend Bahia Principe Runaway Bay, especially for families looking for both relaxation and unforgettable memories.

Love this place!

I love the Bahia! it is my second time there as we had our destination wedding and honeymoon there in 2019. The service for me and hubby was great, the room was very clean, the noise level was a #1 on a scale of 1-10, the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming - it was a great value and the location is great - close to many Jamaican sights. We love the buffet - so many choices! Best of all, though I booked online and our anniversary had already passed, I did not mention that we were married there but they must have looked us up and it was a nice that they gave us a honey-moon suite.

Do not book here

This hotel is terrible don't even bother booking here. I checked in on September 20, 2025 and you think arriving at a hotel you would receive a great welcome. The staff that checked us in was horrible no welcome no smile. She didn't remind us that we need to make reservations at the restaurants. She just showed us a QR code and said this is your map for the hotel. Also she forgot to give us a card for the beach/ pool towels.

Room: The room had a bad smell and we asked the guy that brought the luggage how we can get some air freshener. He said call the front desk that when we notice no phone was in the room. They brought the phone later but it took 3 complaint before I got dial tone on day 4. There wasn't any body wash in the bathroom as I forgot to take mine out the suitcase on the 1st day. I not sure but the room floors are always dusty and I take my shoes at the door. The floors in the washroom didn't look clean so the entire stay I kept sock on. The shower head was horrible and needed replaced and then the new one broken again by the water pressure in the silver cord on the last night. The mattress wasn't comfortable and the pillows are too flat. I needed 3 for firmness. The wall are very thin if you get what I'm saying.

Staff: I'm not sure but most of the staff don't look happy there. They do not smile and some are just rude. The first desk staff are not welcoming, not helpful at all. The front desk manager wasn't even caring either. I asked a staff at the front desk where I could get food for my child it was at 4:30 pm and she didn't give proper directions. I asked others staff and all they were doing is pointing. This is my first day at the resort I do not know anywhere yet. I was in the rain trying to find food for my child. I went back to the front desk waited maybe 15 minutes in the line and asked for the manager. I explained my situation I didn't get any sorry or empathy of my situation. He was you can take a shuttle to the restaurant. I was why didn't the front desk girl suggested that earlier. Then when I told him I had no phone in my room or body wash in washroom, he looked surprise and didn't even apologize. If this is how a manager acts no wonder the employee are like that. I work in the service industry and I would be embarrassed as a manager to heard my guest is not having a good experience or stay. I would walk her to the shuttle or restaurant myself. No customer service at all. That manager needs more training too. I can see why they are being bought out or selling because there reputation is down the drain.

Buffet food: The food is terrible, Jamaican food in Jamaica shouldn't be bad. The restaurant at the beach, the rice and peas was not cooked. The corn was horrible. The food is bad well the buffet food at the beach. I don't think I went back there. The jerk center by the pool. The jerk pork was dry. The cook that served once was rude. These people have no training how to talk to people.

Bar: some bars don't have straws. They bar and staff there was OK. No issue with the bartenders

Servers: The servers are ok no issue there.

The privilege club: DO NOT SIGN UP. Don't even bother going to the meeting for the coupon. The spa staff did not apply the $80 coupon. They are not to be trusted. Also, they won't let you pay for the massage directly. They charge it to your room so when you are checking out the front desk don't know anything. You won't fight it because you must leave to the airport. I received multiple email of different prices of the spa.

Also, my auntie signed up and age said she has to pay for food separately and when I asked the manager at the club about this she basically act as if she didn't know what I'm talking about. Save your money.
Also, the breakfast they promise you it's in the buffet. It's not a special breakfast. The kids room in the club smelled awful. I wasn't leaving my child there. Also, I didn't like the fact they are selling for adults only for people with kids. Those rooms weren't luxury it looked like a basic room. I wasn't impressed

Medical center: My daughter is allergic to mosquito and got bite by one at the jerk center tables and it swollen up instantly. I went to the nurse and she put antibiotics ointment on it. She suggested that my daughter needed antibiotics immediately and to see the doctor it would got me $315USD. I said but she got bite today why would she need that. I immediately got upset and asked why so much. I left and went to the St. Ann hospital and I only paid for the ointment and medicine for the pain. The doctor said no she doesn't need no antibiotics. I'm glad I didn't waste my money and listen to that lady. I wonder how much bad information you gave to guess.

The pool closes to early.

Overall rating is -100/10

Regardless is any upgrading they are doing I wouldn't go back.

A great way to spend time with family

Great customer service and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were helpful and considerate. Entertainment was great and I appreciate the emphasis on that for guests. A good experience overall.

BEST HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE

I stayed from the 29th September and can say this is my best holiday. Definitely go down to Pisces restaurant next to the beach and ask for Mr Flowers. He is an amazing man that goes above and beyond.

The food is amazing and excellent quality and them beef patties at 10/10

The people at the resort is nice and helpful.

I would say some of the guest do not have basic hygiene

Bahia Jamaica is really the place to be for your all inclusive delight

Bahia is the place to be for your vacation - tasty and delicious meals, very clean environment - this hotel takes pride in cleanliness, nice beach area - very inviting, real customer delite at the check in and check out counters.....I was really pleasantly surprised with the high level of service and the pleasant manner in which services were delivered

Big up to the lawn tennis professional Mr Watkis.....a true professional who did a pretty decent job in getting me moving for those tennis balls

Of all the all inclusive hotels I've been to in Jamaica, and I have been to quite a few.......Bahia is the place to be!!!

Weekend trip with mum

Booked this break whilst visiting from the UK. We wanted a bit of a treat and we were not disappointed. The hotel was large and beautiful .From the time we arrived the staff were kind, friendly, and professional, particularly the lady who helped us check in.
We had a gorgeous sea view room with a huge bed.The air conditioning was initially difficult to understand, but eventually, we got the hang of it. Tea supplies were limited and there was no kettle just a coffee machine .Mum is in her 80s and appreciated the ramps and thoughtful staff who seated us near the buffet.There are a variety of restaurants but the all inclusive only allowed us to book one A la carte restaurant for our weekend stay .I didn't book early enough so didn't get my first choice. However we were very impressed with our meal again lovely surroundings food and attentive staff.
Food was plentiful and reflected Jamaican culture but catered for all tastes.
There was a lovely pool where you could also participate in games and exercise.
Good facilities for children too.
The beach was clean and beautiful surroundings where you can go snorkeling.
I was disappointed to miss the culture show as needed to book in advance but we enjoyed the music in the public areas .
I wasn't able to use the Spa as it was only open for booked treatments so a bit misleading.
This hotel had a lovely ambience relaxing and a mixture of locals and tourists which made mum feel very comfortable and I didn't want to leave.
Main tips :book shows and restaurants in advance /as soon as you arrive to avoid disappointment.

Snorkeling was the best

We had a wonderful week at the resort. We highly recommend registering at the luxury side for guests aged 18 and above or joining the privileged club. While we were with friends who were standard guests, we enjoyed our concierge service and the access it provided through the Bahia app, which was different from what my friends experienced.

We were able to participate in all seven nights of restaurant dining without having to go to the buffet. However, it’s low season, so some amenities were closed. We would have appreciated knowing that the pool was only open from 9 AM to 6 PM daily.

If you’re interested in snorkeling, the luxury beach is a must-visit. Bring water shoes and your own snorkels, and you’ll have hours of entertainment. We spotted a variety of marine life, including octopuses, tigers, fish, Caribbean lobsters, sea slugs, blowfish, turtles, skates, stingrays, and a multitude of tropical fish!

Remember that there are multiple beaches on the property, so make sure to explore the entire area to take advantage of everything.

We thoroughly enjoyed the daily exercise classes, even though we were the only four people in our class. This made it feel very private, and it helped us maintain our weight while still having access to excessive alcohol and food. I only gained 1.5 pounds and lost it within three days of returning home.

My husband thoroughly enjoyed the yoga classes. They had a variety of activities that required monitoring, so it was important to stay close to the bars and accessible water-related activities.

We experienced daily storms that affected the pool and beach at times. It’s the rainy season, so storms are expected daily. Just plan accordingly. Make sure to be at the pool by 9 AM because storms usually pass by 1 PM. The pool would then be closed for at least an hour, sometimes even two hours, due to the thunder and lightning. However, the rest of the day is usually beautiful.

Don’t forget to use the app and concierge services as much as possible.

Disappointing compared to other Resorts

Overall OK, mediocre in comparison to other resorts. If you really value a nice atmosphere & good service, I recommend spending your money somewhere else.
Facilitates: Needs updating, sloppy work on the renovated rooms, they were average (no lotion, bath robes, or microwave, have to continuously ask for them to restock the water)
Food: poor quality on the buffets, some tasted stale, refrigerated & reheated, sat too long/dried out. A la Carte meals were good with the exception of the powered clam chowder at the Knife.
Staff/Service: friendliness/helpfulness was hit or miss, although a few were friendly, in general the staff was not attentive or helpful, didn't appear to like or take pride in their job. Generally waited 1 hour + to receive concierge services. They do not have room service for food. We were not greeted when we dined at Pisces beach restaurant (more than once). A couple of the staff were really friendly when pushing us to attend a 1 hour sales pitch, when we declined the individuals were no longer friendly.
Beach: mediocre, it is not a long/continuous beach, this resort has small, SHALLOW coves & with the exception of 1 area the "beaches" coves were not being used so you will have your pick of lounge chairs.
Drinks: all inclusive drinks served in small, 5 or 6 oz? plastic cups (kiddy style)
If you haven't stayed at any other resorts you might find it Ok. Otherwise, I would plan a few excursions off the resort.

Poor service and lack of attention to details. Please train staff to be more friendly and courteous. This is supposedly a 5* resort but fell short of that.

Sucky anniversary

The place did not fulfill my anniversary request of champagne, sign on door or chocolates. I asked before I arrived and when I arrived and also the day of the actual date. A bottle of champagne arrived 10 pm. Boy was that special.
They also charged me twice even though my booking was paid before I arrived.

Staff was superb. I love Guest service,Front desk, Lost an found, waiters and hostess.

I went to grand bahia jamaica for my spouse birthday along with friends. We had a great time. Front desk was great, guest service excellent, waiter, hostess at resturant was awwwwwsome, bartender Big thumbs up, food was ok. Room wasn't all that we had maintainance issues: Toilet, Ac and Bath tub. Staff was great. I would recommend because I'm sure not all the rooms had that issues, we call for maintainance an they came and fix the toilet and Ac.

Great Family Resort!

"Great Family Resort"
We stayed at Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica from October 8-15th traveling with Air Canada. We had a great experience overall. The resort is beautiful, well-maintained, and has a lot to offer, especially for families.

There are two sides to the resort — the Luxury side, which is adults-only, and the Grand side, which is more family-friendly. We stayed on the Grand side with our kids and really enjoyed it. The grounds are large and very well-kept, so I'm glad we requested rooms closer to the pool and buffet, which made things much easier.

The staff and service were outstanding. Every worker we interacted with was kind, helpful, and genuinely welcoming — they really made our stay even more enjoyable.

The food was a standout — by far the best meals we’ve had in any Island we went too. Everything was full of flavor (not spicy tho) and there are plenty of options with buffets and à la carte restaurants. Daily daytime and evening entertainment added a nice touch to our stay.

The beach is on the smaller side and gets deep quickly, so we didn’t spend as much time there, but our kids absolutely loved the pool — that’s where they spent most of their time!

There’s a small shopping village attached to the resort, which is perfect for grabbing souvenirs, toiletries, or snacks. We found some delicious beef patties there! Just a tip: the stores in the lobby are more expensive than the ones in the village, so it’s worth walking over.

The rooms themselves could use some TLC, but we found out the resort will be closing for a full year starting this December for major renovations. It was recently purchased by Hyatt, and with that, many of the Spanish staff will be heading back to Spain.

Overall, it’s a great resort for families, with excellent food, amazing service, good vibes, and well-maintained surroundings. We’re looking forward to seeing how it transforms after the renovation!

Do not recommend!!!

On my list to not to recommend this hotel. It is not a 5 stars, 2 the most. Not clean,food variety is poor,service is poor (not all the employees,but most). The beaches are very small, rocky at times. Security is not gonna solve your problem if anything happens. My husband's shoes were stolen by the pool,we reported it, noone ever contacted us, no shoes were found, no refund or compensation. The main buffet was closed for lunch most of the times. Another one by the beach is dirty, bad service, and very little food. The locals by the beach are bothering, asking you to get them the drink by the bar, selling "happy medicine." Did not like it at all! The only positive thing is the Bob Marley concert.

Needs more improvements and change in service

This hotel needs major renovations and change in service. I understand many hotels in that area does day passes for locals. But this is affecting the quality of service and the food. I would recommend someone to stay at local Airbnb or other accommodation and travel Jamaica.

A turn for the greater good

The location is amazing,atmosphere is great…the room is great very spaces and comfortable. The view is splendid can’t get enough of the sea view . Enough about that .. let me move on by saying a great thank you to Kimesha Campbell for making my stay easier and memorable,she made my stay take a turn for the greater good after things weren’t looking so wonderful, but caps off to you miss Campbell for doing what you love and making your guest comfortable and putting their needs as it would be your own , thank you so much for this amazing experience..

Family vacation

The kids club made our stay enjoyable. Shout out and thank you to Brit, Shanique and DD from kids club. They were very warm and friendly and we enjoyed talking to them. Collin from the main pool bar and we cant forget to mention Clarke from Knife restaurant. They were all worth the trip and if we decide to take another trip they would be the only reason.

Hotel is okay, staff is nice, higher ups are not helpful

To Whom It May Concern,

My experience at Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica was not only disappointing but also deeply concerning and, frankly, unsafe. During my stay, I was stung by a yellow stingray while snorkeling in the lagoon. Despite being aware that marine life can pose risks, there were no signs or warnings about potentially dangerous creatures. I was wearing water shoes, yet the sting penetrated through, causing severe pain.

After the incident, the hotel called a cart to transport me to the on-site nurse. It took 10 minutes for the cart to arrive, and once picked up, the driver asked to detour to pick up a guest for breakfast. I was rocking and crying from the severe pain during the ride. I then waited in the nurse’s office for half an hour before being directed to a hospital an hour away. During this time, the nurse only had low-dose Tylenol, Benadryl, and a basin of hot water for my foot—completely inadequate for the severity of my injury.

The drive to the hospital was an hour of excruciating pain, and the pain itself lasted for 8 hours, even after receiving two injections of high-dose pain medication at the hospital. The taxi alone cost $220, and the hospital bill was around $1,500. Throughout this entire experience, the hotel provided no assistance, no follow-up, and no guidance, leaving me completely unsupported during what was an extremely frightening and painful medical emergency.

A few days later, I attempted to recover by visiting the Luxury spa, hoping for some comfort. That experience, too, was unacceptable. I was charged $100 for a manicure ($60) and nail removal ($40). Despite being Gold Members entitled to a 20% discount, the staff claimed nails did not count as a spa service. The nail removal took over 40 minutes, during which it was clear the staff were inexperienced. I received only a one-minute hand massage and a cheap moisturizing treatment. That same night, the polish began peeling, and I was left with cuts around my cuticles from sharp scissors. When I complained, it took two days to get a response, and I was still required to pay $50, despite visible injury and damage.

Overall, the hotel’s response (or lack thereof) to a serious medical emergency, combined with the substandard Luxury spa services, was shocking and unacceptable. For a resort that advertises itself as luxurious and top-tier, the level of care, empathy, and professionalism fell far short of expectations.

Special Recognition – Donette Brown
Despite these failures, I want to highlight the exemplary service of our cleaning lady, Donette Brown. She went above and beyond, showing genuine concern for my injury, helping me maintain my foot, and ensuring our room was always clean and comfortable. Her compassion was the only positive aspect of an otherwise distressing stay. Donette absolutely deserves recognition and reward for her dedication.

This experience has left me deeply disappointed and questioning the safety, care, and integrity of the services provided at Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica. I urge management to review safety protocols, staff training, and spa practices to prevent future guests from undergoing similar distress.
