Buffet; Unless one arrived immediately at opening, the selection was noticeably depleted and visually unappealing.

The buffet offerings were consistently substandard. On numerous occasions, it appeared that food from the prior day had been repurposed, raising serious concerns about freshness and food safety. Unless one arrived immediately at opening, the selection was noticeably depleted and visually unappealing. Several items were excessively salted to a degree that could present health risks.

Additionally, the alcoholic beverages were diluted to the point of being unmistakably watered down, and many of the cocktails were so disproportionately sweet as to be undrinkable.

We were further troubled by the use of the term “Privilege Club,” which is racially insensitive and wholly inappropriate for a hospitality brand. This terminology reflects a profound lapse in judgment and calls into question the oversight of the establishment’s marketing strategy.

In sum, unless significant improvements are made in both operations and branding, the enterprise faces an elevated risk of reputational damage and financial loss.

Unfortunately the staff let this down and the management do not care.

This is gonna be a long one - So strap in!
Overall I loved this hotel, loved the location unfortunately three of the staff let this down and badly!
Firstly, when we arrived we were exhausted after a 3 hour drive to Gatwick, the 10 hour flight to Jamaica, the 90 minute journey to the hotel, we really wanted to shower and eat. We were checked in and the process was smooth. However on the way up to our room we were cornered by Romaine, demanding that tomorrow we will go to a spa breakfast which is a presentation with no "obligation to buy" - I said twice I would think about it however she put our names down. For 8:30 am. She said if I didn't go I'd be costing her commission - This really really put my back up.
At 7 am we were called to check we were still coming and awake. On purpose I didn't go. I was starting my holiday, I was not there to be given a tour of the hotel, I didn't want to take part in that.
We saw Romaine later that day and she made a big scene in the lobby about how she was so mad, she told us she only earns £185 a month from the hotel.
I felt this was incredibly inappropriate.
She hassled my partner and reluctantly we both agreed to go the following morning. Again we were called at 7am - I answered the phone rudely this time because I was so tired and jet lagged. I was on holiday! Not there to do this tour of the spa and hotel grounds.
We went down, and Romaine wasn't there but we saw the note she had left "Rich, get commission plus tips from these two"
The woman explained it was over on the grand side, takes an hour and a half and we are expected to eat while being lectured. When we said no they made us feel terrible and we walked back round to breakfast.
Noticing our angry/upset faces the usual staff asked us what happened so we told her, she said that it was rubbish - Romaine earns more than that, gets tips + commission but also works in the pool bar!
When we bumped in to her I refused to speak to her, she told my partner "Just leave me money when you go" and since coming home I have been harassed by her on WhatsApp to send money and help her. She accused me of lying to her about leaving her a tip (we did)
I ended up blocking her and reporting her to the hotel but they do not care.

The other situation was a rude woman next door to us, we accidentally opened her thinking we had got to our room (the door was ajar) she reported us to security and they rang the phone at 1am, 1:10am, 1:40am and 2am accusing us of theft and demanding to know our names.
I went down and complained and the woman on reception just moved our room, so we were not near this vile woman. I was told management would be in touch regarding my complaints with a voucher for a money off my next stay but the email just says sorry it didn't live up to your standards.
The lady who works in the luxury lobby said I was correct to be so angry/annoyed.
Then following this we were woken up every morning at 7:45 to see if were still coming to the spa morning!

If these two things hadn't happened I would have said this was excellent. But unfortunately these early morning calls and constant phone calls just left us sleep deprived on 8 of the 14 nights we were there.

The Positives:
The beach is great for snorkelling
The rooms were clean and spacious
The food in the Jazmin buffet as it offers traditional Jamaican food at every meal time.
Other than that it leaves a lot to be desired.

Wouldn’t stay here again but the workers were fabulous

My stay is for 9 days and here’s our collective opinion (17ppl): No AC in the gym, lobby, many sots where you’d normally expect AC blasting. Luckily the rooms have AC. Continuing on, the hotel is nice but the employees are great BUT the service organization and structure isn’t the best. Also I’m staying in the luxury side yet it seems that all the restaurants and breakfast joints are on the Bahia Grand side so I’m not sure what the luxury part is besides the private bar. Even the one Luxury access restaurant called THE ROUND TABLE is on the Bahia Grand side and NOT the Luxury side which makes no sense considering only Bahia Luxury side of the hotel have access.

I genuinely like the employees and they are working so hard but the owners of this hotel chain need to rethink, renovate, restructure and revamp the system, building and everything else under the sun.

Still managed to make the best of it, the FOOD WAS EXTRAORDINARY AND TASTY and travel into town to visit many excursions and local towns.

Bahia Principe Luxury Resort was a nice place to stay with attentive, pleasant and helpful staff.

I booked the trip and stayed at the resort. From the moment I stepped onto the resort I was greeted warmly by staff and provided a place to rest with a refreshment. Kevin Pinnock, as BellMan greeted me warmly and took particular care in handling my luggage and carry-on bag. His professionalism and quiet confidence made me feel relaxed after a long journey from the airport. His greeting upon my arrival of extending pleasantries was a constant throughout my stay.
Shannalee Gray from hospitality was observant to see I had mobility issues. She did EVERYTHING possible to make sure the first few hours of my arrival were obstacle-free and assisted me with orienting me to the offerings of the resort. Without hesitation, she did periodic check-ins to see how I was managing and to guage my impression of the suite and access to restaurants,,shops and Refreshments on the resort. Again, Shannalee was very attentive to obvious mobility challenges walking on the resort. It was most kind and appreciated.
Holly Aldridge was EVERYWHERE.. always strategically located and always inquiring as to how I was managing and assisting with directing me to get to venues for a la Carter dining or nightly entertainment. Also, very polite.
No matter who I encountered, breakfast, lunch or dinner or while taking in shows on the patio or in the theater.

For a go at your own pace, this resort and my time Bahia Principe Luxury was TOP NOTCH!

I will say though: lighting, better signage and railings are needed throughout most of the resort step to assist those with mobility disabilities. Nevertheless, staff from shops, restaurants were helpful in getting me back on track!

Average Experience

We are regular guests at Bahia Hotels and have stayed at several in different countries so I always try to give a balanced review on our experience. I've broken this down to relevant sections to make sue I've covered it all.
CHECK IN
This was really smooth and trouble free. We were welcomed with a cold drink and a refreshing cool towel very quickly on our arrival. At the time of our stay we were Gold members of My Bahia and received a very welcome upgrade on our rooms. We were grateful to the reception staff for this.

ROOMS
Our rooms were spacious and well equipped with a safe, iron, ironing board, mini bar and a welcome bottle of rum. We were advised that the mini bar would be restocked every day but we did not find this to be the case as it was attended to only a few times during our 14 night stay.
Some of the decor needs attention as there were some marks on the walls and the bathroom sealant was showing signs of mildew.
I have to say that in line with the rest of the resort the rooms are cleaned to a high standard and we were really appreciative of the staff for this.

OUTSIDE AREAS
At the time of our stay the hotel was in the process of closing some areas ready for a major refurbishment of the neighbouring family hotel next year so not all pool areas were open. The pool areas we did use were clean and there were ample beds for everyone. The local music played loudly at the pool was not to my taste but that probably reflects my age.
The beach is not massive but it was really peaceful and offered a great place to sunbathe with some welcome breeze.
We did have an issue with some staff members at the pool bar unfortunately. Despite approaching them with smiles on our faces and a a cheerful attitude we were disappointed when staff were abrupt or completely ignored us in favour of serving American and Jamaican guests who arrived after us. This was not a one off event and other British guests we spoke to had also received this response. It seems that rather than tipping to reward good service you need to pre-tip to buy service. We did report this to Guest Experiences who apologised and tried to rectify the situation. We actually received daily calls from them asking if everything was OK.

INTERNAL AREAS
Everywhere is spotless and staff work really hard to keep it that way. The lobby bar staff are great and are always up for a chat and a laugh.
Be aware of the Privilege Club vultures (timeshare) as the will not leave you alone. As we have stayed at Bahia Hotels previously we knew all bout the Privilege Club so politely declined their approaches but this did not stop them and it got to the stage where we took alternative routes to the lobby just to avoid them.

FOOD
The Jasmin Buffet was open for a few days before closing for a refurb, we then used the Round Island buffet on the other side of the resort. Generally speaking the food is OK here. The variety is not massive but it's enough. Our biggest observation was that the food is only warm and this goes cold quickly once it's on your plate. Try to use the pasta station or fish station where food is cooked freshly for you and is very hot.
Lunch is served at the open air restaurant adjacent to the pool. This was disappointing as the choice was extremely limited and the hot food and salad was all the same luke warm temperature. As it's an open air restaurant there is the inherent problem of flies and bugs. This area needs to be improved.

Despite having theoretical access to A La Carte restaurants for every night of our stay we were unable to book any meals via the app as everything was full. This isn't helped by the restaurants only being opened on certain nights of the week, understandable as it was not high season, but it meant everyone was trying to squeeze into same areas on the few nights they were open. We addressed this with Guest Experiences who did manage to find us a few free bookings and we were really grateful to them for that.

ENTERTAINMENT
There are shows every night in the Jamrock Theatre and we found these to be well rehearsed with impressive and enthusiastic performers. The daytime entertainment team are enthusiastic especially Joshua who tried his best to get everyone to participate.

BEWARE
Our daughter liked to spend days by the pool but ended up joining us on the beach after becoming uncomfortable with unwanted attention from some staff. Members of the gardening and maintenance teams approached her on separate occasions saying they had been watching her and would like to 'walk and talk' with her. Obviously she declined this offer but the staff in question remained close by watching her which made her get up and move.

Overall we had a reasonable stay but feel that we have had better stays at other Bahia properties so would probably visit them before we considered a return to Jamaica

5 stars well deserved.

This vacation was a 5 star experience right across the board from the moment I stepped into the Hotel (shout out to Holly) to the minute I left. Staff were super friendly and welcoming, rooms were huge and immaculate (housing keeping came twice a day). The pools were kept very clean and the beach was pristine and I had it practically all to myself the entire week.
The food was great, I ate at both the a la carte restaurants and the buffet and had no complaints and I am pretty picky about food.
I also felt very safe as a single woman travelling alone.
You will read complaints on here from other travelers who frankly are just complaining because they can. Miserable people will always find fault in everything and something to moan about. Take no notice of them - you will LOVE this place.

Birthday Trip Was Just OK

The trip was nice and the property is nice. We had a beautiful room, however, the adult pool closes at 6p, the gym floor needs some work (I almost fell due to the floor board slipping). My masseuse fell asleep on me during my service, the drinks were just average, some of the staff (mostly the women) weren't all that friendly and we were tired of eating buffets but since we didn't have a map of the property, we couldn't find all of the restaurants. Also, the transportation company let the van leave on on the last day even though they saw we were getting our bands cut off at the front desk. They didn't even seem concerned to make accommodations (even though we had prepaid for transportation). It seemed like all of the action was on the family side because the adult side closed down like we were children. No night entertainment and no night swims because the pool closes at 6p. WHAT A DRAG. Overall, it was a decent stay, but will likely not stay here again.

Bahia Principe Luxury Runaway Bay 2025

Room is spacious, comfortable and the layout is good. Bathroom setup is good, however could do with quality ventilation. This will reduce or eliminate any frost or condensation. I must respect the hard work of the staffs that help to keep the hotel clean daily. However, there are so much issues with fixtures and fittings that became a nuisance. I am aware of maintenance but this could have planned better to ensure better satisfaction for guests especially first time guest. They say "The last impression is the lasting impression." Even though I have met some friendly staffs, enjoyed the poolside bar and did look forward to a clean room. Future visit is unsure and indecisive but as the saying goes "you never say never."
Let's talk value for money- my only issue is to not received what I've paid for in this instance. In my opinion, 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 must speak volume.
Atmosphere- good atmosphere 👌 especially at the bar.
Noise levels- good, well respected by guest-to-guest. Road noise was low, at least from our room. Not sure about others but hope that was the same for all guest.

Dirtiest hotel I have ever been to

Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica
I was so disappointed with this hotel, after a long flight from U.K to Jamacia, the last thing I expected was to having to ask to get my room changed THREE times. Upon arrival, the hotel is beautiful, but the room itself was not kept well, starting off with the first room, it smelt of sewage, it was so strong and there was no way I would’ve been able to stay there with my daughter; the 2nd room had a leakage problem, water dripping down the walls, horrible damp smell, USED dirty/bloody toothpicks left by the sink, the bedding wasn’t even changed as I had a look at the bedding and there was hair all over the pillows, and the 3rd room again was a horrible odour/sewage smell again, but at this point I cleaned everything myself because unfortunately my whole trip to Jamaica was me just changing rooms and not feeling comfortable where I was sleeping. Now, these things MIGHT have been bearable IF there was nice staff, however the amount of rude staff I encountered while I was there was very disheartening, I caught one of the cleaners in my room using my towels to clean the room, and when I asked her about it she got really rude to me until I told her I would be passing it onto the reception about how i’ve been spoken to, which she then became apologetic so I left it at that. Then there was an awful chef called Devon, he served me cold food and when I mentioned this to him, he started waving his arms around shouting ‘GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WOMAN, GO FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO EAT’ and to make it worse he started waving his knife around too, not even as a customer, but as a human being this was scary to witness, it seems as though this hotel needs to train their staff on how to communication effectively with their PAYING customers, however I will mention, that there were some lovely hotel staff, but unfortunately the bad has outweighed the good and I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anybody. I will now attach photos of the conditions of the rooms and Devon, the disgusting chef that displayed threatening behaviour towards me.
PLEASE AVOID THIS RESORT IF YOU CAN.
