Huge Disappointment!! Dirty room for our big anniversary! Big let down.

We are here now. I'm very disappointed. We were looking so forward to our trip. We just arrived and are here one week. Same night I sit here writing this...that's how disappointing it is at this moment. Our Big silver anniversary. Here we are after having a decent buffet meal...come to our room...and it's DIRTY. PLAIN DIRTY. I expect a clean room wherever we stay. Don't care if a bit dated...but dirty >>> NOT ACCEPTABLE !!! We are including pictures. WHAT A LET DOWN. WYNDHAM...if you cannot bother to make sure all rooms are cleaned well ...YOU SHOULD NOT BE IN THE RESORT BUSINESS!! UPSET. Every person should have a clean room! TOMORROW I WILL BRING THIS UP WITH FRONT DESK AND LET YOU KNOW WHAT WAS DONE ABOUT THIS in next week. If remedied with nice clean room, we will edit this review. I do not feel anyone paying good money should ever have a dirty room. Only a clean room and good service. We will see!!

Great trip!

Wonderful vacation, small older resort that needs updating but clean, amazing staff and the shows at night were great some of the best we've seen. Buffet was mediocre but always found something to eat. Beach was beautiful. Overall a great experience.

Great Hotel With Amazing Beach

We were just a couple of days ago back from our vacation at Viva Fortuna Beach where we stayed from Sep 13 to Sep 20. Our overall experience was great at this hotel.
Beach
The best part of this vacation was the beach - white sand and clear water, when there are no waves you can see everything at the bottom and lots of fish swimming around you. The only improvement i would suggest is to add more shade. There are palms, but still not enough shade for those people who need it, adding umbrellas will make this beach so much more enjoayble for the shade-lovers. There is so much space there, we walked both ways many kilometers away from the hotel beach and most of the shoreline is the same white sand and clear waters. We spent all our time at the beach and have not used the pool, so cannot rate it, but if you are a beach person - it is amazing here!
Room
The room was good, clean and everything was working and in order. The part that impressed me is that we were given a room exactly with the features i requested - close to the beach, quiet (far from the lobby/disco), on the second floor and the type of beds we wanted. Daily cleaning service was good too.
Food
The restaurants were great, the Italian one served thin crust pizza just like the one you can find in Italy. The buffet experience was great too - good selection, we could always find something we liked and no line ups at the grill as they manage it quite well making sure stuff is cooked for people in advance. The service in all restaurants including the buffet was very good too.
The burger place at the beach is good, we enjoyed it, it was nice to get a quick meal and be back to the water.
Coffee at the main bar was delicious, i loved it as part of my morning routine.
Entertainment
The hotel's entertainment team is amazing - they currently have a team of talented people from around the world. We enjoyed their shows, on our first day The Elements show was very impressive, especially the acrobatic part, first I thought this was the invited team of circus people giving perfermances from hotel to hotel, but no - it is their own employees. They did amazing making us laugh and enjoy their shows.
Reception/Lobby
The reception staff did a great job, they were all very helpful if we needed anything or had any questions about the hotel and overall about the country, I enjoyed chatting to the ladies at reception and learn more about the life on the island.
Overall
We enjoyed our vacation, good hotel, amazing location if you love to spend your time at the beach. Thank you to all the people at the hotel who make our stay great, we definitely will be back next year :).

Great place for your money

Great place for your money. Beautiful beach. the pool was clean and gotta say the food was very good as well. the rooms are out of date but you dont spend much time there.
the entertainment team half awesome and half bad. Amy, Marina, Roberto, Michael always engaging us to participate in the pool activities. Alige (not sure his Name) Boring always on his phone same as the other Venezuelan Fella. you go get snorkles gear and gotta wait for them to put their phone down. multiple times.
Lion king show its pretty good. overall we had a great time.

Such a great place to relax on the beach. We thought the food at the buffet was great better than the restaurants on property!! My family and I had a wonderful time but the staff trully makes this place from the bartenders to the entertainment staff (shout out to all of you for putting in so much time) & thank you Amy for making a rainy afternoon so much fun with the family playing darts, your energy is electric!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The beach was fantastic, nice Caribbean blue and very clear. The pool, jacuzzi and hot tub were filthy dirty.
The Good:
Front lobby was great, but take a cab , avoid an hour in the check in line, as the possibility of 2 flights at the same time.
The room was great, we had oceanfront. Plenty of towels and face clothes. We had a welcome basket and a bottle of champagne. Our a la carte were made for us at the 3 restaurants, which were fantastic, Mexican was good, Italian was excellent and the Gourmet as well . The buffet was great as well. The beer Local brand Sands is awesome, but the wine is not great and Rum is Puerto Rican, not the greatest.
The Bad:
We had many parents taking their kids, with diapers, in the hot tub are. It is clearly marked no kids.
The pool had scum from sun screen, bugs, band aids and cigarette buts in it!
The Jacuzzi had two families, fully clothed, wearing the same clothes all week, hogging it, it was filthy too.
The resort itself is in need of major renovations, water areas for drinking water broke, halls not swept for days, ignorant bartender at the bar by the buffet, a heavy set plump gentleman who needs a course in manners and etiquette.
Cigarette butts litter the areas under the tables and chairs, not swept up, tables dirty etc.
The roof leaks like a sieve at the bar by the buffet, entertainment lady sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard.
The Ugly:
Rude people from a certain area in Canada, butting cigarettes in the pool, butting in line, one actually grabbed the toast my wife had put in the toaster! Some were so ignorant, leaving a path of garbage and filth, plates etc.
Rude staff, although the beach bar bartenders and a few at the front bar were nice and polite.
In conclusion:
Do not pay more than $1,000 each, it is not worth it!
We paid that amount, any more....you were ripped off.

Amazing Food, Endless Activities & Wonderful Staff

My husband and I had the BEST time at Viva Fortuna Wyndham in Freeport, Bahamas! From start to finish, the staff was so kind, welcoming, and incredibly hospitable. The food was amazing — the buffet had so many options and both on-site restaurants, Dolce Vita and Don Diego, were delicious.

The activities were the highlight of our trip! We tried kayaking, paddle boarding, archery, and even got adventurous with the trapeze — all without ever leaving the resort. A special shoutout to Alhji, who was so patient and helpful while we learned new things.

We also took a trip to Pig Island, which was such a unique and unforgettable experience.

This was the first all-inclusive resort we’ve stayed at that had so many on-site activities included. Between the food, the fun, and the amazing team that made us feel at home, this trip was absolutely perfect. We can’t wait to come back!

Back after two wonderful weeks in each new country that I discover there are always nice people who devote themselves to

I'm back from a two-week vacation at the Wyndham Viva Fortuna Bahamas. There are rainy days in September, but the prices are lower than in high season. I had a room in a good location, a little far from 3233, but very quiet, away from the noise, with a very pleasant garden view in the morning and all the birds singing. A room in a hotel built in 1992 and renovated in 2019. For VIP rooms, you can't ask for more. I had read a lot of comments before leaving, not too positive, but good. my choice to discover this country and everything that is new and beautiful made these two weeks to know a plus to my traveler's book there are always people who dedicate themselves to giving quality service at the bar Sonia Camal and the smiling jamaco thank you and yes thank you to the entertainment team for their work Vanessa Dilis Martiano Roberto Rita every evening who sings for you and all the others and for the buffet we can make very good dishes with everything there is a new soup every day thank you to the buffet staff Nioshia Hope Precius Tyrone and Anton my favorite giant and if the taste of burgers interests you at the beach everything is perfect to make the best burger and if you want to leave the hotel to your left walk 🚶‍♂️ on the beach 35 minutes safely to the banana bay beach. superb beach restaurant to see Thanks to Thyphani for the excursions and her welcoming smile. Certainly I could have done many more activities there is a lot to do but My favorite activity is scuba diving and Pierre the instructor offered me the advanced Open water course I come back with a plus in a sea at 29 degrees of all beauty thank you to all for this time in the Bahamas the most beautiful trip that we make remains in us of all the love that we give and that we receive;

great time

We spent a great week at this very nice and compact resort.
Everything during our stay was just great. Food, people, weather (even when it rained it shined) and disco. We've met a lot of awesome people ( tourists) that made our stay even more special.
And of course the people that work at the resort. So full of energy that is just absolutely contagious.
Ziah is a young gentelman working at the bar with so much entusiasm that always makes you feel special. Sonia also at the bar is just a shining star with a great smile and attitude.
The entertainment crew also made it extra special.
We want to thank all of you for the great week and we'll definitely see you again.
Cheers.
P.S. If you ever doubt if you should go there, STOP now and just book it.

Fantastic experience

Attentive staff, delicious food, a wide variety of drinks, and a beautiful beach made for an amazing stay. I traveled with a large group of friends, and we had a fantastic week at Viva Fortuna. The à la carte restaurants were excellent, and the buffet impressed us with both its variety and quality. My only complaint was the lack of servers at the buffet to refill water or bring drinks to the table.

The staff at the coffee bar and bars throughout the resort were always friendly, attentive, and helpful.

The entertainment team at this resort is outstanding. The evening shows were professional, high-energy, and very entertaining. Daily activities around the pool were a lot of fun, and the team did a great job making sure everyone—young or old, athletic or not—felt included and enjoyed themselves.

Overall, Viva Fortuna exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to returning soon.

Horrible vacation

I am a seasoned traveler and this was the worst hotel I have ever been to. The rooms are dirty, service is bad...food disgusting...front desk staff unfriendly and not helpful. Will never come back.

The staff are fantastic!

A beautiful beach, good food, comfortable rooms, entertaining evening shows and outstanding staff … what more can you ask for?

I travelled as part of a large group and we all enjoyed our time at Viva Fortuna. The buffet offers lots of variety and the dining experience at the a la carte restaurants are fantastic.

I can’t say enough about the animación team — specifically Amy, Makayla and Dilis. They made the daily activities so much fun and were inclusive and encouraging to everyone.

Better to stay home than come here

Truthfully I have never written reviews for bad experiences but this one is a must. The food selection is very basic, very bland (yes I’ve been to Cuba so I’m no food snob) by day four, they don’t even try. One/two meat dishes if that. Everything else is overcooked steamed veggies. When food runs out they barely replenish, unless you keep asking. Bottle water, a basic human need; first bottle in room is free, after that it’s a dollar each. Their water isn’t safe to drink and yet they can’t provide bottle water. If you’ve already booked, bring your own water bottle. If not, just don’t even go here. Seriously, save your money. Juice is only available for breakfast- for a resort that advertises for children, I guess we should give them soda all day. Juice is at the bar. I was told the resort is Italian owned but they put 0 effort even for their Italian cuisine. Beef is like rubber. Doctor only available Mon-Thrus and if you need her on other days it’s $125USD to call her in. The first 3 days a tropical storm was passing, the first day was barely rain and all the shops on resort closed all day for two days. So if you needed basic medication, snacks, toiletries, etc, good luck . We tried to go into town and ask front desk for help on prices etc, they said “ we don’t know” and called a taxi that price gouged us 20 US dollar for a 5 min drive one way. No exaggeration. Beware of the slope near the front lobby, very slippery in the rain and many people have fallen. And they literally do not care if it happens. Tiles are chipped and mismatched in most areas. The grande finale of my review is that in the last day we found mould on our walls underneath the night stand and all over on the blue bed skirt. Every night I had flem in my throat and thought I was getting sick but now I know why. Check your rooms!!!!!!! Multiple guests we spoke with had mould as well. DO NOT book here!!

Fantastic resort

This resort was a blast! The entertainment staff are amazing! So many shows acrobatics, Lion King, were my favorite! My husband and I stayed for 3 weeks. The beach is cleaned every morning. Snack bar serves hamburgers and hot dogs, French fries and pizza 🍕 the drinks are very tasty and so many to choose from. Free scuba diving lesson in the pool. Music every night at the lobby/patio of different parts of the country. Cleaning staff work hard and are amazing! Very accommodating! Bartenders are friendly and accommodating with beautiful drinks and a smile 😃 life gaurds are always aware, on the beach and at the pool. Definitely will be going back for another vacation here!!!!

Great vacation

We went from September 27 to October 4 2025, me, my husband, our 2 kids (1.5 and 3 years old) and my mom. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was our first time in the Bahamas and we will definitely go back. It has been our best trip so far. The food was good, the service also and the entertainment staff were awesome. Special shout out to Amy, Vanessa, Marina, Rita, Roberto, Germain, Carlos, and Alagi, they really made our vacation special. Thanks to all the bar staff also. We will be back hopefully in 2026

We won't be back

Where to begin? We just returned from the resort yesterday, so everything is still pretty fresh.

We arrived on a late flight, so we really didn't have any issues checking in or getting our rooms. We upgraded to a "Superior" ocean view room. Don't waste your money. The other couple booked a regular room for $400+ less than us, and other than not being able to see the ocean, nothing was different. All the rooms are dated and just at the threshold of needing repair. The fridges are not stocked. Our balcony door was so stiff that I had to put my full weight into it to open and close it. We had a total of 5 hangers to share, and the dresser was so small that we didn't unpack our suitcases and lived out of them for the week. There was the typical coffee maker in the room that drips water through pouches, but it was awful. One thing that no one tells you is they only provide you with two 500 ml bottles of water at the beginning and you're expected to refill them at water stations at a few locations on the buildings. We found out by chance in a Facebook group before we traveled.

The housekeeping staff woke up us early the last 3 days asking if we were checking out and when we said we weren't, they just gave us a heap of towels and said they would be back. They didn't return those days and, as a result, we didn't have our rooms cleaned or made up.

Drinks were good, but they ran out of beer several times during the week.

The food reminded me of Cuba from about 10 years ago. Buffets had no imagination and there was nothing freshly grilled except eggs in the mornings. All the buffets were pretty much the same. The a la cartes were good, but they had issues with one sitting our group of 4 together. There is no dress code at any of them.

The staff were pretty attentive most of the time, but forget it if they were having their own conversation. You would have to wait until they were finished.

I understand that we traveled during the rainy season. The resort should have realized it as well though. They have the one main bar area everyone tried to gather in during the rainy days and activities usually turned into drinking games. That and children running around screaming and crying did not make for enjoyable days.

All in all, I would have been extremely disappointed if we had paid full price for this trip, but it was a Sunwing special. The resort was still pretty empty. I can almost guarantee that the resort staff would not be able to keep up with the travelers if the resort was full.

Loved it!

I had an amazing stay at Viva Fortuna Beach! The resort has a beautiful location, great amenities, and such a fun, welcoming atmosphere. The staff really go out of their way to make you feel at home.
A special mention has to go to Amy, the lovely Welsh beauty who made the experience even more memorable. Her warmth, energy, and charm brought such a positive vibe to every day — she truly made the stay unforgettable!
Highly recommend Viva Fortuna Beach to anyone looking for a mix of relaxation, sunshine, and genuine hospitality
