Great resort, great people, great time 💕

Staying here from Sept 26-Oct 5.
Beautiful resort stayed at Breathless but explored both sides of secrets too. I’ve been to breathless/secrets a couple times here before but first time for my mom.
My mom and I enjoyed everything about the resorts, the people as well. Big shout out to everyone working - butlers Rory and Shane, bartenders, lifeguards.
Shout out to lifeguard Audley. Personable, does a great job. We knew you guys love KFC and were happy to contribute some money to your KFC lunch. Thanks for all your hard work, can’t wait to come back again! 💕💕

50th & 21st Birthday Vacation

I was not happy with my milestone trip to Secrets Preferred. When arrived and checked in we also spoke with Miguel-he basically lied to us the whole time we was there. I was celebrating my 50th and my daughter 21st birthday. She wanted to go to a club off the resort, Miguel told us he could arrange for transportation for us to club Pier 1. I asked him if there was a extra charge for transportation, he told me no, it comes with the resort. I said oh that is great. My family and I went to dinner, he comes to find us and tells us the charge for transportation will be $20 PP. I said to him you told me no charge. He said he did not know how much it would be and needed to check the price. I said to him again, that is NOT what you told me when I asked you about a charge. It was 5 of us, which meant that would be $100. My daughter was very disappointed. Prior to our trip, that is one place she really wanted to go and couldn't. I asked Miguel about a microwave. He said there was none they could provide in the room, but could come downstairs to have food warmed. Another lie! There was no way to warm food. Description says MINI BAR, well no liquor in the room at all. You have to keep going downstairs for drinks. I ended up having to buy my own bottle. There was only soda and water in the room mini fridge. My room had roaches. Air was constantly going out. Food was not good. Went to Oceana seafood restaurant, no variety of seafood. Only like 4 things on menu. Not able to order room service from restaurants, could only order from 1 spot each night. I was so tired of burgers, pizza and chicken quesadillas. That was all I could order late night. Then it took 1hr for food to come which always arrived COLD. All the restaurants was not open. Not able to get drinks late night, everything was closed. Requested for my whole party to be on 1 floor. 1 part of my party was out on the 1st floor. This was one of the worse trips I had been on. We spent too much money for all us to be so disappointed! I hate I chose that resort and wish I would have gone some place else for my 50th and daughter 21st!!

Top of class All inclusive

They booked our resort, flights, excursions and ride share to and from airport. Variety of different cultural restaurants on site. It’s an adults only resort with great customer service throughout resort, different types of bars throughout resort, several pools, different events on property throughout the day. This resort is connected with Wild Orchids and Breathless.

Roaches in 4305

Resort is now infested with roaches they don't give you wristband key cards anymore you have to walk around the resort holding key cards. There are roaches in the World Cafe! Many couples for furious on the Wild Orchid and St James side about the roaches. I was also not aware that Butler Service only comes with a swimout. I stayed at this Resort last year around this time and had a pretty good time and that is the reason why I rebooked but I cannot recommend this place to anyone right now and they are in the process of transitioning to Hyatt.

A wonderful couples hotel

A fantastic resort. The location and layout meant that most if not all rooms have a sea view. We were especially pleased to have a room on the ground floor and was able to access the pools, restaurants etc through our patio doors. The surroundings were beautiful and well maintained. Staff were friendly and the food was excellent. We were especially pleased that they provided a lot of traditional Jamaican dishes. Whilst there is a modern system in place to book your restaurant the same evening it did mean that the waiting times could be long. The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated, although we did have to ask for things like snacks and minibar to be replenished. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday at this hotel.

The best vacay I've had in life

Overall wonderful experience. Jefry the operations manager and Anika the Preferred club fron desk clerk assisted me with extended stay twice. I stayed a total of 24 days and it was worth every penny!

I have been going here since 2018 and can not and will not think of another resort/place to go to.
My favorite place to go to on vacation before now and after.

There is nothing impressive about this property. We paid over $4k for a Premium king room for just 3 nights that was supposed to be ocean view. You can barely call it that. You can see a little bit of ocean through the trees. We plan to switch rooms tomorrow, but why have I paid over $4000 for an oceanfront room for only to arrive at the property and have to request an actual ocean view room?

We asked about switching to one of the swim up rooms and the charge was an additional $500 just for two nights. Also not worth it considering what we’ve paid for. It does come with a butler but we don’t need one.

Overall, the property is very clean, but it’s hard to walk on the sidewalks and enjoy the property because of all of the golf carts that the staff are constantly driving around in. You’re constantly having to walk on the edge of the sidewalk to allow these huge golf carts to pass.

We are enjoying that there are NOT a lot of people here. We were trying to get some towels to sit by the beach tonight as the sun was setting at 5 o’clock and were told that they were all out of towels for the day. Apparently they only do laundry once.

The food choices could be better. I saw a lady (guest) coughing as she was touching a loaf of bread and cutting a slice off for herself at the buffet. It generally seems like it’s much too hot for food to be sitting out at a buffet in any of the restaurants. We had pasta from the pasta bar today. It was made fresh and it was very good and filling. I did wonder if the chicken had remained cool enough, but I’m not sick yet, so hopefully it’s fine.

The room service options could be better. Our visit to Ocho Rios 20 years ago was much better than this stay. Our resort back then had much better food selections.. we had filet mignon on the room service menu. Here, you can get a hamburger.

They are charging upscale prices, but there’s definitely nothing upscale about this resort.

The people here are amazing and I’ve enjoyed all of them, but Hyatt can do better.

Try visiting this resort once it’s renovated and worth the money.

Honeymoon make up

We went for a week of relaxation and to make up for the honeymoon we couldn't have in 2020. This was our 2nd time in Jamaica as well as our 2nd time staying with Secrets in the Preferred Club. It was just as enjoyable, even more so this time around because we spent the whole week at the resort. we had great vibes the whole time, the staff all make you feel as though you are home and they make you know they are there to take care of you. Shaonie at the marlin bar and Chris brown were great additions in our daily travels through the resort.

Spent 5 days and spent over $3000 . Not impressed

For the price of $400-$600 a night……
I will look elsewhere before coming here.
The staff is awesome. But they’re also understaffed

The food qualities extremely poor.

It’s really hard for me to recommend this place to anyone.

Dated, dirty and terrible food.

Would absolutely not recommend this hotel. We're Hyatt Globalist members and very loyal to the brand but this was a huge disappointment. The facilities and rooms are dated and dirty. The food is awful - greasy, fried and impossible to find anything healthy. The staff were friendly and kind which was lovely. Otherwise, the only redeeming factor was the beautiful view of the water.

Great customer service from Ms Dannasha Wilson!

Excellent experience with top notch service. Someone I would like to give two thumbs ups is Dannasha Wilson. She made sure my wife and I were well taken care of with our room service meals! She made sure our meals were brought to the room in a timely manner and she always had a warm attitude. She went above and beyond and we would like to give her a huge thanks!

Great place with a glitch!

Overall, our experience was pleasant, providing my family with the break from everyday life we needed. Having visited twice previously, I did notice some changes that we weren’t pleased with but they did not detract much from our stay this time. There was an issue with roaches in one of our rooms that the front desk staff were reluctant to acknowledge or address. We had to take it to the MOD after three days to get anything done. However we didn’t allow this to stop our relaxing vacation. Would we go to Secrets St. James again? Anything is possible!

Consistently high level of service and quality experience.

Had a great experience despite the renovations happening. Customer service was top notch and the restaurants were wonderful. I will be back for sure and can’t wait to see the upgrades.

A nice experience at St. James Montego Bay

Our experience at St. James was overall above expectations. The accommodations were excellent. We had a swim out preferred and the amenities that came with that were worth the extra money in my opinion. The butler service was a pleasant addition to our stay. Our butlers, Dane and Tajae did an outstanding job of seeing to our needs and desires. Set us up every day on the beach and took care of our dinner reservations every night. The food was only okay. Some restaurants (Portofino and Teppanyaki Tables) were very good. Others, (Bordeaux and Altitude) were substandard. Blue Mountain was pretty good but certainly not great. Beach was beautiful. Pools were great. Service was outstanding. I would certainly go back.

Worst all inclusive ever

The resort was undergoing several construction updates which we didn’t find out about until a couple weeks before the trip. One restaurant was closed for renovations. The resort appeared to be short staffed. The workers tried their best to keep up but it was impossible. The menus at the existing restaurants were nothing compared to other Secrets we have been too. Very limited choices and the wait time for food was nearly an hour. Himitsu was 2 hours.

The lobby was also being renovated which left no common area to gather. Except for the piano bar, all other bars closed at 6, so the piano bar wait time for a drink was ridiculous.

The Barefoot grill, had a very limited selection of items and it took forever to get waited on.

The Jerk Chicken cart tended to stay at the preferred sides of the resort and it took several tries during our stay to actually get some chicken.

The main pool for St. James was loud and crowded.

Our first day, we had no air conditioning nor did our safe work. My husband spent hours in the room waiting for repairs.

We’ve been to 2 other Secrets which were very good but this one was absolutely terrible.

The shows were geared more to younger, hip hop style entertainment.

The only highlight was the Shanna West, one of the Entertainment people. She tried her best to keep us occupied with games.

Will not go to another Secrets
