A few small tweaks needed but otherwise fabulous

Really enjoyed my stay here. Hotel is very new and luxurious and extremely well maintained. Staff are so friendly and go out of their way to look after you. The food is excellent, way better than I expected for an all inclusive. We especially loved Suki (don’t miss the Teppanyaki!), Bamboo and Ember. In fact we didn’t have a bad meal here and we tried every restaurant. We didn’t have a great experience in Bisou the French restaurant but that was down to our waiter bringing each of us something different to what we ordered for all 3 courses! The food was fine when it did eventually come but was probably our least favourite.
The variety of pools is fantastic. Being in our middle years the 2 party pools were definitely not for us but it was no problem finding a quieter pool to relax at. The beach is disappointing and I have been to several in Playa del Carmen and this was my least favourite.There are plenty of beds and great service from the staff but the constant harassment from people trying to get you to buy a beach massage is extremely intrusive when you are trying to relax. It made me avoid going there. But as it is a public beach there is nothing the hotel staff can do.
The shows in the evening were excellent and I was not expecting this. The entertainment team are a huge asset to this hotel. They are friendly and entertaining and mist work crazy long days as they are always around.

A few things which made me give this hotel a 4 out of 5:
Signage….. there is very little of it, and as the hotel is massive with different buildings, it took me about 5 days to figure it out. I kept meeting people who were lost also.

Lifts….. on my side of the hotel there were 2 lifts completely out of commission, they had a housing built around them so it wasnt a temporary thing. Also there is a review on here complaining about the same issue 4 months ago so this needs to be fixed. I waited 10 mins for a lift today and 12 minutes yesterday.

Bathrooms……not signposted anywhere and there are not enough bathrooms out at the pool areas. There are 3 female toilets out by the party pool and these are meant to service all 7 pools in a hotel that can have almost 1000 guests. They need more bathrooms.

Housekeeping…..generally very good but sometimes better than others. The snacks at the mini bar were only replaced once and on my last night I got into bed to realise that the bottom sheet stopped a few inches short of the end of the bed which is not exactly hygienic! I had to fully strip the bed and remake it with the mattress covered. I didn’t appreciate doing that at midnight in a 5 star hotel!
The above are only small issues which could be rectified to make this into a fully 5 star experience. The greatest asset Secrets Moxche has is its wonderful staff. They work so hard and are so obliging, I was disappointed to see how few people tipped them so please do tip them

Our waitress Ariana was the best as well! Jiame pool concierge was the best at making sure we’re comfortable and shaded when needed!

Makes us feel so at home!

Staff is excellente! Julio, Migel, Jessica, Regina, Daniella, Gabriela, Monica, Jacqueline, Ari were all amazing and a pleasure! Our waitress Arryeana (sp) was always smiling and so attentive, we loved her! Jaime concierge was there every time we turned and needed him!

Weekend getaway

The overall experience was nice, the room was beautiful but the service could use some improvements, as far as responsiveness and ensure availability of products across the resort. I mostly enjoyed food from the taco stand which was outstanding and the alcohol beverages were not my favorite the mixers were not good but the wine selection was suitable although not all of the wine options were available at all bars throughout the resort.

Enjoyable stay

Enjoyable resort. The mosquitos were an issue for our swim up pool area. If you want to eat at the hibachi restaurant, book ahead. No availability for the week when we tried to book on the first day. Otherwise great service, beautiful resort, and friendly staff.

Couples getaway

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — Wonderful Stay at Secrets Moxché (Preferred Status)

Dates: October 28 – November 2, 2025

Our stay at Secrets Moxché was truly memorable, and from start to finish, the staff made us feel welcome and well cared for.

Check-In & Room:
Check-in was smooth and efficient, with a warm welcome from Estefana and our bellman Paul. We were in our room quickly, which was beautiful and very clean. A few notes about the room: the bathroom lighting wasn’t very bright, but the lighted magnifying mirror was a great help for applying makeup. The hairdryer was powerful, and the provided toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash) were more than sufficient for our stay.

The bed and pillows were not as comfortable as we hoped, but when I requested a different pillow through the app, the request was fulfilled within 20 minutes—very impressive service! We enjoyed using the bathtub in the evening before dinner, though when sitting on the patio, bug spray was a must as small biting gnats were present in the early mornings and evenings.

Dining & Food:
We mainly ate breakfast at the buffet, which offered a wide variety of good options. I’m not a foodie, but overall, I felt the food throughout the resort was good. We didn’t have long waits for dinner but we are early birds and went at 6pm each night.

Pools & Activities:
We spent most of our time at the main activities pool, which had a great vibe, and one day at the lagoon, which we later wished we’d enjoyed more because of the beautiful surroundings and varying water depths. There are so many places to hang out throughout the resort that getting a chair was not an issue. If one place is full there is always another place open. We didn’t attend many evening shows, as we tended to relax in our room after dinner, but we did check out the speakeasy one night (worth it just to say we did!) and participated in the Halloween haunted house event put on by the staff—it was fantastic and such a fun touch!

Spa & Relaxation:
My husband and I opted for a beachside massage for about $60 per person, which was wonderful. The other couple we traveled with used the on-site spa and enjoyed their experience. We also tried the hydrotherapy circuit included with our Preferred status, but unfortunately, we wouldn’t recommend it—the water was cold and not as enjoyable compared to hydrotherapy experiences at other resorts.

Staff Highlights:
Several staff members went above and beyond to make our stay special:
• Jamie at the activity pool was amazing—he set up our chairs daily, cleaned our sunglasses, offered great conversation, and even gave us tips on spotting iguanas and coatis!
• Saul, who helped us in the afternoons at the pool, was also very kind and attentive.
• Amairany, our poolside waitress most days, provided excellent service with a friendly smile.
• Axel from the entertainment crew was a standout—fun, energetic, and incredibly engaging. He remembered our names, got us involved in activities like karaoke, silent disco, and golf, and always made us feel welcome.
• Francisco, the bartender at Dark Horse, was another highlight—he often had our drinks ready before we even ordered and made evenings extra fun.
• DJ Ricardo kept the energy high with great music during the silent dance party.

Final Thoughts & Tips:
Secrets Moxché is a stunning, spotless resort with exceptional staff who truly elevate the experience. A few tips for future guests:
• Ladies, skip the high heels—the pathways are uneven, and I saw many people struggling.
• Bring bug spray for mornings and evenings, especially if you plan to sit outside or dine outdoors.

Overall, we had an amazing stay and would absolutely return to this resort. The service, cleanliness, and staff friendliness made it a trip to remember.

Second time for me, first for Mom

My mother and I stayed at Secrets Moxché for a week to celebrate her 75th birthday. I had already been to this resort, but watching her experience it as a newcomer to all-inclusive resorts was magical. She was spirited away into delight by how welcoming and consistently friendly the staff were, and said she always felt “cared for” everywhere we ventured in the resort. She also loved the food experiences, particularly Ember (we went there for dinner 3 times) where she enjoyed lobster, a burger, Argentinian sausage, and a variety of grilled sides. And one of the aspects she still fondly talks about today is the beach. The beach is well-maintained and easy to relax on. Yes, there are beach salespeople, but once you say “no” once, they leave you alone.

I enjoyed my second stay. I’ll never get enough of the variety of delicious food prepared at the Market Cafe… that was something I looked forward to every morning. I also enjoyed having authentic, fresh coffee each morning (or evening because the coffee bar was open 24/7). The staff’s service was outstanding and sometimes surprisingly so. Housecleaning went over the top for us on a few days, and the concierge knew us by name by the 3rd day. I also loved that they managed the seaweed build up really well — I saw no seaweed at all on the beach.

Overall, it was another marvelous experience.

Putting this on my return list

I stayed here for my birthday, and it was an amazing time! My butlers Alejandro and Mariana were a big part of that. They were very attentive and responsive, and made the birthday surprises feel personal. However what stood out the most was the Activities Team. José especially made an impression. He surprised me with birthday treats, but what really stayed with me was how genuine he was. He asked how the day was going, remembered small details, and made it feel like I wasn’t just another guest passing through. I also want to acknowledge Sergio, Gabriela, Miguel, Ilse, and Daniela. Every interaction I had with them was friendly and thoughtful. You can see that the team works very hard, and they do it with good attitudes.

The rooftop at Impressions was a favorite spot for me. The views are incredible, and the atmosphere is calm without feeling overly formal. It’s easy to spend a long time up there without realizing how much time has passed. Also.... dont miss Teodoro! By far my favorite meal and experience for my aunt and my birthday celebration!

Service Issues

Only writing this review so that other couples don’t pay the “price” of Moxche and expecting better service than the other secrets resorts. We also weren’t the only ones saying this while we’re there. We talked to many couples and they all had the same opinions.
To start Secrets Moxché is absolutely beautiful the pools are stunning, and the resort itself feels new and upscale. But the service really fell short, especially compared to other Secrets resorts we’ve stayed at.
We arrived early in the morning and were told we’d be contacted when our room was ready. Check-in was at 3, but we never heard from anyone, so we went back to the front desk around 3:30 and was told our room had been ready. no one had let us know.
The pool service was the most disappointing part. We’d wait around 45 minutes just to get a drink order, and most of the time we ended up walking to the bar ourselves. We also tipped whenever we were at the bar or when they brought us a drink, yet it didn’t see to make a difference. In some areas of the pool, servers never came by at all. It really felt like they were short-staffed, with only one bartender working at a time at most bars and not enough staff at the pools.
We also would not recommend paying extra for the Preferred Club. The rooftop pool is nice, but that’s really the only perk. Even there, service was just as slow, and the drinks were not premium like advertised. Many guests (including us) just walked up to the bar to order because it took so long to get service. The preferred club gave you access to rooftop breakfast however, make sure you get there right when they open or you may be sitting in a line with 11 other groups. One day when we went to breakfast we stopped up top to go to the preferred breakfast and the wait was 30-40 min, then proceeded to go downstairs for the only other option for breakfast which is the buffet and it was another 20-30 min. Plenty of open tables outside and in different areas of the breakfast buffet but felt like the staff was extremely short handed to handle more tables.
Also should add they had at least one elevator down in each section. In a resort where you have to use the elevators for a lot of things, it really wasn’t functional. I know they are working on switching out the elevators and that’s why they were down, but expect to wait 5-10 minutes for a elevator ride depending on the time of day or in our case just walk the stairs (remind you preferred pool is on the 9th floor)
Overall, Secrets Moxché looks incredible, but the service, staffing, and Preferred Club experience are nowhere near what we’ve experienced at Secrets Akumal, where the food, drinks, and staff were all amazing. We will be coming back to the Cancun area, just won’t be coming back to Moxche.

Gabriela,Monica, axel,Cristian,Jazmin,Jose, Uziel were amazing!!! We’ve had the absolute best honeymoon! We played every game, volley ball, table tennis, did the biking tour, sang *and my husband WON* the Secrets Idol event!! The food was absolutely AMAZING!! Every restaurant had food that was to die for! The staff is all so nice and we cannot wait to come back!

Our best holiday

Our experience was nothing less than perfect, the location is further from the hotel zone but totally worth the trip. The atmosphere is relaxing and exciting at the same time. The rooms are so spacious and big for what you bay for the added extra of the bath on the balcony is lush. The food is excellent especially for an all inclusive resort the food was tasty and also so many options for the three meals a day also including the barefoot grill which I couldn’t get enough of there chicken wings. The staff were unreal especially the entertainment team they remember you they are attentive and overall probably the best people I’ve personally dealt with ever special shout outs to Ari, axel,ilse and daniella who come and found us for a Halloween game of uno. And also to Sergio, Miguel and Cristian for keeping the activity pool alive the volleyball games were very serious and fun to watch and take part in. Other mentions to the pool concierge team especially Jamie and Elias who literally couldn’t do enough for you. On this resort you do not have to raise a finger and the staff are friendly and make your experience personal to you. We will 100% be coming back and 1000% recommend to family and friends as I have never been to a more perfect resort.

Some good, some very bad!

Overall the service was about what should be expected at a resort with this price. Food was below average for what should be expected. Pools were above average for what should be expected. Beach below average for what should be expected. The preferred customer upgrade is worth the extra expense. Our bag was entered at check out and items were stolen. Neither the resort or Hyatt has helped with this and we are very disappointed, especially with Hyatt. We were told there would be an investigation and they (resort and Hyatt) would get back to us. They have not.

Celebration, Connection, and Care – A Resort That Gets It Right

We just returned from an unforgettable stay at Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen, and it exceeded every expectation. We were there for the wedding of Niki Lavin and Joshua Wingard, and the entire experience was nothing short of magical.
From the moment we arrived, Beatriz at the concierge made us feel like VIPs. Her warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail set the tone for a flawless stay. She went above and beyond to help arrange a scooter for my 91-year-old mother, ensuring she could fully enjoy the resort—and she absolutely did!
The restaurant staff were equally outstanding. Every meal was a delight—not just because the food was fantastic (and it truly was), but because the service was impeccable. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable dining experience.
A special shoutout to Sergio at the pool! His energy and hospitality were unmatched. It was my first time doing water aerobics, and his fun, welcoming attitude made me want to join in. I’m so glad I did!
All the restaurants were fantastic, but I have to highlight Dos Almas for serving the best Calamari Tostada I’ve ever had. And my mom couldn’t stop raving about the ribs at the Japanese restaurant (Himitsu, I believe). Whether it was a quick bite or a refreshing drink, everything was delivered with a smile and perfect timing.
This resort has truly mastered the art of hospitality. We felt cared for, relaxed, and completely pampered. We will absolutely be back!

Great staff, great food

Our experience at Moxche was wonderful. Staff was exceptional. We so enjoyed our time playing beach games and volleyball with Sergio and Ari, who were genuinely friendly and amazing hosts. The rooms were beautiful. There are fantastic places to eat, especially the beachside seafood and the French restaurant.
