Horrific Stay at SeaGardens Hotel

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at SeaGardens Hotel. I had made a wire transfer payment in advance, yet upon check-in, the manager on duty dismissed my payment and refused to allow me to check in until the transaction was reflected in their bank accounting system. Despite providing clear proof that the funds were already in the hotel's account, my payment was not acknowledged, and I was met with rudeness and unprofessionalism.

This led to a humiliating and frustrating encounter in the hotel lobby, where other guests overheard the exchange. The manager showed no willingness to resolve the issue professionally and treated me as if I were at fault. As a result of the hotel’s inflexibility and poor customer service, I was left with no choice but to pay a second time using a credit card—two hours later—just to be granted access to my room. No apology was extended for the inconvenience, nor was there any effort made to rectify the situation at the time.

To make matters worse, one of the two payments had to be reversed, yet the refund process was not handled in a timely manner. Even now, the hotel has not issued any form of apology or acknowledgment for their mistreatment. Unfortunately, I was unable to change hotels, as all other accommodations were fully booked at the time.

The lack of professionalism, poor customer service, and complete disregard for guest dignity displayed by SeaGardens Hotel is completely unacceptable. I strongly urge hotel management to review their policies, properly train their staff on conflict resolution, and improve their financial processing systems to ensure no other guest has to endure such an experience.

This stay was deeply disappointing, and I cannot recommend this hotel to others. I expect a formal response and acknowledgment of this matter.

Great experience!

I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews… I’ll admit that the food could be better but the staff go the extra mile to make you happy. I’ve noticed you get the same service whether you are tipping or not. The grounds are well manicured and clean, the pool is great as is the beach. The room is nothing to write home about but who cares, I didn’t come here to sit in the room! I would definitely book here again.

A relaxing stay at SeaGarden Beach Resort, Montego Bay, Jamaica

We spent 10 days at SeaGarden Beach Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica on an all-inclusive plan. It was our first time in Jamaica and we couldn't have felt more welcome. This is an older style resort with beautiful garden spaces and colonial architecture. The staff are friendly, helpful and always seem to be making an effort to look after their guests. We booked a standard room. It was bright, very clean with ceramic tile floors, a full sized shower with grab bar, king sized bed, dresser, minifridge and a nice patio with table and 2 chairs. The room was cleaned daily and towels replaced frequently. They recommend to not drink the tap water so the hotel supplies 2 bottles of water daily. The pictures provided by the resort are quite representative of the pool, gardens and beach areas. The beach area is lovely. It's a small beach but there are 2 large piers with pagodas, lots of beach chairs, a bar/food service with limited menu, DJ/games daily, and a very watchful life guard. The kayaks, life jackets, snorkeling gear, and towable are part of the all-inclusive. Snorkeling trips can be arranged via the tour desk (would definitely recommend this.) You do need to cross Kent St to reach the beach but there's always a traffic guard on duty. The main dining room is large with both indoor and outdoor seating. There were always linen tablecloths and napkins on the tables. They specialize in serving Jamaican food, a good selection of fruit and desserts and there's an omelet bar every morning. The dining room staff are exceptionally well trained and the table service was impeccable. We also enjoyed L'Albero, the Italian restaurant, also part of the all inclusive. If you want to experience life in Montego Bay, you can walk to the "HIP strip" (daytime) and do some shopping along the way. There was a good selection of entertainment most evenings. We especially enjoyed the cultural acts. CONS: The airport is close by so be prepared for flights arriving and departing usually noon and early evening. The DJ music on the beach was often very loud. More umbrellas are needed at both the beach and pool. If your room is on the street side or in the section with ocean view, you'll be subjected to loud, booming music and car noises from evening into early morning!! There's a small public beach nearby and they set up to party most nights. The night manager would call the police and this was usually effective. We were told that they planned to address the problem.....not sure how. They are adding a large new section but rooms on the construction side don't have much of a view.

Here the administration can steal money from your credit card

The hotel looks quite nice from the outside and retains the colonial era flavor. The hotel is located very close to a small beach. The food in the main restaurant is quite primitive: for lunch and dinner, dishes are used that are prepared in the same way according to the same recipes. Not tasty and it gets boring quickly.
Upon check-in, a $100 security deposit was withheld from my credit card for incidentals. Almost two months have passed, but I still have not received this deposit back. I have already written three letters to the hotel asking for a refund, but have not received any answer. This allows me to consider this incident as theft of money from my card. Be careful! Perhaps a cash deposit would be safer.

Overall good experience.

Beautiful location. Room was spacious and clean, good air conditioning. Food was good - not huge international choice. Music in the morning great very chilled, Dance Hall was a bit intense in the beach area.
Good value.
Tour was not as expected. Mixed experience with staff .

Authentic, honest, and a ‘real slice’ of Jamaican One Love

I’d love to give Sea Garden 5/5 because there is sooo much to love about staying here. I will start with the great/good stuff and then with some not so good stuff / room for improvement(s), but in all, would I return? Yessir I would. I’m writing this as the second part of our holiday is at Hilton Rose Hall Montego Bay, and I wanted to write up on Sea Gardens before Hilton. I booked up because the owner was at a Charity Cricket Event with Ian Botham, and I am soo glad I booked this holiday at the charity lunch.

After checking in, and for us at 10:30 PM local it was 03:30 in the morning next day for us we just went to our room. However on the morning, brilliant and lovely location with a stunning view from the sea view room we booked. The room was huge and the aircon worked perfectly, the view was magnificent. The bed was huge and the mattress very comfortable and the room freshly decorated.

Breakfast and evening dining was plentiful and varied, and most of all, Fresh and home made. I sampled all sorts of local Jamaican specialties that I don’t would be available in many hotels, as ‘home cooked’. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the buffet breakfast, like dinner varied completely for the 5 days of our stay and many congratulations to the hotel for this, and also the plentiful staff serving water, coffee and generally being attentive throughout. Particularly the lady on my first morning who help me chose the local breakfasts and what to select from the buffets. Someone at work, spending time to help you is special, and I thought Sea Gardens excelled in service and friendliness.

Staying during the day, we didn’t take any day trips, was at the beach. It doesn’t look big from the photos but we always managed two loungers under a palm tree or shade and it was a beautiful view as the images we took, and no doubt it being every bit as lovely, protected and safe as the pictures show. The beach bar was brilliant, and the bar staff always remembered your drink from one day to the next, and at the bar they also griddled food to eat either at the bar back at your lounger, there were plenty of staff on board to make sure that plates and drink cups were speedily collected.

Every day on the beach, there being entertainment, I have to hand it to Sea Gardens entertainer, day 1 I didn’t want to be entertained, but by day 2, I had joined in, began laughing, and enjoying the experience, and relaxation of it all. Sea Gardens entertainer made me laugh again, I had forgotten how to enjoy myself, so thank you “Country’ his real name ‘Aaron’ or ‘Ellis’ I think. He got us all relaxed, my god he was a great singer, he was funny, and had a magic to take you willingly along on his journey. From the beach, we met so many people who throughout the stay we would stop and talk, ‘Country’ did this, and thanks for showing what ‘One Love’ looks like!

The evening bar was similarly as great and welcoming as the beach bar, which we went to before and after dinner.

The evening entertainment was varied and lovely, and, from the crowd one night we were treated to a well known professional singer on holiday with her extended family; true entertainment and sitting in the outside areas we felt safe, included, and welcomed; true Jamaican hospitality at its finest!

The best bit of all was the CLEANLINESS, not a SPECK of dust anywhere, the restaurant scrubbed thrice a day, the tables outside scrubbed every morning, as well as the paths and surroundings. The loos everywhere were clean clean clean clean. Magnificent housekeeping and our cleaner, when we had to work, came in and cleaned when we popped out for an hour. I can’t see this happening anywhere else. The service was so PERSONAL.

The hotel exuded the feel and look of being at an expensive mansion house and itself beautiful to look at.

Not so good/improvement
A) the apartment shower, we could never get constant temperature. Today’s shower was cold.
B) room tea/coffee facilities - we would really have loved this facility and would have sat on the balcony loving the view.
C) Beach music was sometimes overwhelmingly loud although I think it was so at times to drown out the planes landing at the airport. TBH take off was louder than landing.
D) the Noise from the street (something which the hotel can’t control) is a major minus.
D) The hotel is ‘dated’ but you can see the effort to update and as a family venture its a balancing act and I hope that this beautiful hotel modernises
E) Please please please put an automatic coffee maker in the hotel and the grill area by the pool with inbuilt chilled milk. That would make a World of difference for little investment.

Best view best food best best sensational 😋

I love this place I've been coming for years and in the Margaret river region is the only place to eat looking at the ocean views eating one of the sensations you'll experience in this magik place you'll remember for a lifetime and if your down south a must to visit

The worst resort in the world. 😡😠

I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at this resort was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share it. From start to finish, it was easily the worst resort experience I’ve ever had.

First off, the resort was under construction — something that was not disclosed ahead of time. I requested an upgrade for the inconvenience, and the staff claimed they had accommodated me. But when I got to the room, the view was literally facing the construction site. Loud, dusty, and far from relaxing.

The staff were rude and unwelcoming. It felt like they didn’t want to be there — or serve us. Simple requests were met with eye rolls or ignored altogether, and there were moments where it genuinely felt like we were being talked about behind our backs.

The food? Absolutely awful. Bland, low-quality, and not even served with a smile. We ended up eating off-site as much as possible, which defeats the purpose of an all-inclusive resort.

Overall, the place felt poorly managed, unprofessional, and not worth a fraction of what we paid, which it wasn’t a lot to begin with, but since we were only there for three days two nights it wouldn’t be that bad, I only read the reviews after I purchased it, big mistake. I would never return and strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you want to actually enjoy your vacation.

Friendly and helpful welcoming staff. Good food and entertainment.

We stayed for 3 nights at sea gardens, and our time there was very good and we enjoyed every moment of it. The staff were very helpful, welcoming, and friendly.
We stayed in the family suites, the rooms were spacious and nice and big. The air conditioning works great. The bed was comfortable and big it could hold 3 persons. Also, inside the room, there is a walking closet where you get dressed without anyone getting in your way. There was a balcony overlooking the sea, and the view from my balcony was amazing. Also a safe where you stored your personal belongings. The hotel is very clean. The staff at the dinner room/ front desk and beach area are very nice and friendly and polite. The food was amazing 👏 just how we liked it. Everything to our taste. There is a pool and a jacuzzi which i enjoyed, and a gym, and the entertainment was very good you cant be bored , there is lots to do, every evening there is something different. Not to mention the disco, which i throughly enjoyed. I was able to let my hair down. i would definitely recommend this hotel for couples and families and sole travellers. The bell man Delroy is very helpful. Anything you need to know just asked him. I enjoyed my stayed and will definitely return in the future.

Overall, it was an enjoyable holiday. They should utilise the outside space and make bbq jerk meat.

On arrival we were greeted by a concierge who took our luggage and directed us to the Front Desk. After checking in, he carried our luggage to our room and showed us the main entertainment area and bar and explained a few things. The staff at front desk checked us in swiftly, no issues. The room was spacious and clean and the chamber maids were always helpful. The food was hit and miss except the egg man who makes really good omelettes. The Italian restaurant menu needs to be changed, however the waitress Jarheil smiles and makes conversation with the guests making the experience worth it. The barman, Linton, remembered our favourite drinks, was attentive to requests and always service with a smile. He served us drinks we've never had before which we wanted to try, nothing was too much. The waitresses remembered our preferred dining table and we sat at it if it was available. The beach and beach bar were really clean. I met one groundsman, Martin, he let me feed the coy carp and gave me mangoes and coconut which me and my friends enjoyed thoroughly. To all the invisible staff who keep the place clean and well maintained, Thank You All! We had an awesome ten days.

Aborted

Not one for reviewing if honest but we Lasted 12 hrs here and slept for 6 of that ! On arrival was told where the information desk was if I had any complaints 😬 only been there 5 minutes !!!
Deluxe room clean but v basic half used toiletries, nice bed though!
Breakfast (buffet ) was Appalling ..
Should have read reviews beforehand as most are bang on 😢

The fabulous Sea Garden Beach Resort

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here. It's only a 5-minute trip from the airport, which is precisely what you need after a 10-hour flight from the UK.
We found all the staff to be very welcoming and friendly, and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The food is excellent!
We will return to this family-run resort again!

The Best Experience

My name is Bill, I went on a business trip with some of my old buddies from the army and I must say I was blown away by the service I received. This is a lovely resort and the Customer Service is impeccable. Housekeeping is wonderful and they are very attentive to your needs. But one name stood out more to me than any other mr. Armando, he is a young man who works at the resort, I happen to run into him by the pool, and I noticed that he worked there. The young man asked me is there anything that he can do for me, and he also said if there’s something that I cannot find that he himself will find it for me. Armando not only got me everything that I asked for, but he also kept making sure that I was happy and that I did not need anything else. He even asked if I needed any help in the upcoming days I mean, just a really outstanding gentleman and I really appreciated him going above and beyond for the resorts Customer such as myself I absolutely enjoyed my stay thanks to Mr. Armando.

Accommodating

Though I was only there a few hours it was nice. I am thankful for them to put us up for the night as our flight got cancelled. I know it was not easy but thank you to the Seagarden for accommodating us for a few hours and going above and beyond.

Also, kudos to the hotel staff guy for all the crap he had to put up with. He handled himself brilliantly.

Excellent - amazing beach - but noisy

As you would expect from a 3*, it is not all perfect, but this hotel really delivers where it matters. The rooms are clean and spacious, although some have a slightly quirky layout. The air con is cool and quiet.

The food in the buffet was good, freshly-cooked and hot, although expect Jamaican cuisine (chicken and fish) rather than international. The cocktails were excellent. The service is mixed, ranging from the friendly, hard-working staff in the pool bar to the more detached laid-back style in some other parts of the hotel. But the service was never bad, nor rude.

The real selling point of this hotel is the fantastic private beach area. It is truly spectacular and every photo looks like a postcard.

The only downside is the noise. The hotel entertainment ends at 10pm (and reverts to an nice indoor dance club). But, there is lots of music noise from the street at night on weekends and the single glazing does not shut it out. Not really something the hotel can control, but it is an issue if you are light sleeper.

The beach music starts up at about 12 noon and is so loud that it can turn a relaxing afternoon rest on the beach into something less so. You can get further away from the speakers to mitigate this, but the hotel management scaling it back would be better.

Overall, a great experience except for a couple of poor night's sleep.

Tip - the beach bar closes at 5.30pm, but you can get a cocktail or two and take it across the road to watch the beach sunset until 7pm.

We only needed to stay one night near the airport, but this hotel was perfect for a lunch of jerk chicken at the beachside grill, buffet dinner with dessert (oh, the mini creme brulee was incredible, maybe had a touch of rum?), a good night's sleep (preceded by the saxophone/keyboard entertainment down by the pool area), a lovely walk on the beach the next morning, and a full buffet breakfast! We packed a lot into our short stay!

Location is perfect

Location is fantastic 5 mins from the airport. Beach front is amazing and is postcard pretty. Bar staff really friendly. Andre and Raymano was my favourite at the beach bar. The food lets this hotel down, I had some of the driest fish I’ve ever eaten in Jamaica here. The omelette man in the morning saved me from not eating. Lots of mosquitoes in the outside part of the buffet hall. Not all rooms have balcony’s. Few days we did not receive fresh towels and had to go to reception.

Relaxing Couple Vacation

I love everything about the SeaGarden Beach Resort. It’s very convenient to get to, close to the airport the strip and clubs. The staff were amazing very attentive to your needs, the private beach is so relaxing and beautiful, I love lying down watching the plans come in. I recommend this resort.
