Resort needs way better communication.
I have been trying to reach out to this Hotel for an upcoming trip on December with myself and my Mom to request a room with 2 beds two emails sent and no response. Better communication would be greatly appreciated as we are trying to avoid a nightmare at check in. Please check and respond to your emails. The room pre selection tool will not work and this needs to be fixed asap.Thank you,

During our stay we were told to book restaurants on the app as it was low season. However the hotel closed restaurants without informing you but still let you book them on the app.
We decided to eat at Pescari on our anniversary, I tried booking on the app but it would only let me book for one person. So I went to reception and they booked it for us. When we went to eat there it was closed, so we had nowhere booked to eat on this special occasion - very disappointed !! One of the restaurant managers helped us out and managed to find us another restaurant. He also brought the duty manager to apologise who said he would book us in to this specific restaurant when it was next open on the Thursday and of course when we went to eat there it was closed yet again. Over the following days this duty manager saw us on several occasions but acted as if he did not know us. Terrible service.
Food everywhere apart from Pescari was very poor.T he hotel ran out of food and drinks all the time. Dirty room service trays were left outside guests rooms for 2 days before they were cleared. There were no beach towels for 4 days. Housekeeping were asked three times for extra towels and on some days we didn’t have hand towels or bath mats. Staff were surly.
Our children had organised and paid for a bottle of champagne to be left in the room when we arrived , but there were no glasses, and when we checked out the reception staff tried to charge us for this again.
The only person who went above and beyond was Garicia Bailey at breakfast.
Would we go back to Antigua - absolutely. Would we stay at this hotel - never in a million years. Avoid this hotel but other Royalton hotels I have stayed at have been fine.

Extremely bad vacation
We stayed at The Royalton Chic Antigua mid to end of September.This was supposed to be a special occasion as it was our 40th wedding anniversary and this was the hotel where we spent our honeymoon. It has recently been renovated and only opened a year ago. During our visit we utilized the gym facilities and took some classes with Elvis. The gym was well equipped and very user friendly. Elvis was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about health and fitness. It was a most enjoyable experience! Don’t miss out on your opportunity to take a class with Elvis!

Bartenders plain out are horrible! If your not a diamond member they pretty much ignore you. My husband went to the bar several times and literally told the bartender what he was wanting and they would just walk away and help someone else. Drinks we were ordering yesterday all of a sudden they can't make them today.
At the buffet good luck getting a drink. Many times we had to get up and go pour the water ourselves and half the time we didn't even receive the drinks we ordered. Food is ok if it was warm.
Music choices: You think being in the carribean you would hear carribean music.....nope full out Gangster Rap all day long.
Vibe team during the day is great, nightly entertainment is ok at best.
Save yourself some disappointments and book at the Sandals down the beach. Ya its a little more but for better service I would rather be there then here.
Yes we are still currently here for a few more days and we have contemplated leaving early.

Warm and Welcomed
My wife and I just did our 3rd trip to Antigua in the last 5 years. Beautiful island, friendly people, great weather with many things to do. We arrived at the Royalton Chic resort on October 18th. The first person we met just outside the lobby was Geron. We exchanged greetings and made a friend. Geron remembered our names and he always greeted us with a smile throughout our stay. The next friend we made was Jim Albert. I called him big Jim. He welcomed us like we were family, and treated us with respect and kindness all week. Our check in experience was smooth through the Diamond Club. Next we had the pleasure to meet our butler’s Kyle and Nickesha. So after only being there for an hour we felt warm and welcomed. Kyle n Nickesha made sure any needs, wishes or desires were handled with care. We enjoyed every dining experience. Our room was clean, comfortable and well stocked. We stayed in room 6201, which had a Birds Eye view of the Diamond Club Pool Bar. That’s where the party started. Sheila, wagwan, Erna never stops singing with a smile, Marlon with the Magic, with many others make the bar a place for great drinks, laughter and love.We are so ever grateful for the experience you shared with us and look forward to seeing you all again soon. The beach is amazing and blue water clear, the sand was white and soft.
We never had to fight or get up early for loungers either. We could have our pick of loungers any time of day at the pool or beach.
We ate the buffet, Italian, Steakhouse and room service. We were impressed with the food and enjoyed our dinners. Even though the buffet is smaller than othere it had plenty of food options for everyone.
We had paid to preselect our room in February 2025 and we didn't get that room unfortunately but working with the hotel about a resolution. Our room was smaller than typical Royalton brands but it was still wonderful.
We love the Royalton brand and can't wait for our next trip!

Not the best experience
Grounds of resort beautiful, restaurants were ok, NEVER informed that the seafood restaurant you had to pay. Check in was a nightmare, waited over 3 hours to check in yes check in is at 3pm however they do know what time flights are landing, no one even tried to get us in to our rooms a little earlier. Then when we get our rooms they were musty (requested 2nd fl) and they had us on the 1st. Thankfully we still had a great vacation but the start of it was not a good experience at all.

This was our first time traveling to Antigua, and we were looking forward to a great experience after all the rave reviews about The Royalton Chic.
Arrival & Check-In:
You can grab a taxi at the airport for $40 (about a 20-minute drive) — a quarter of what the resort charges. Upon arrival, you’re greeted with a nice welcome drink while they explain “the other charges.” There’s a $300 hold per room for security and a $6/day per person fee (for what exactly, who knows).
We booked a king-size bed, but got two queens instead. The staff didn’t make much effort to fix the issue. The wristband room keys were supposedly “pre-programmed” and no one seemed willing (or able) to change them. We waited over 1.5 hours before being told they were waiting on the “butlers.”
Diamond Club Experience:
We booked the Diamond Club package, which turned out to be disappointing. The “butlers” communicate only through WhatsApp, sending generic replies and slow responses. They gave us a quick tour, showed us how to use the room service app (24-hour service included), and that was about it. No robes in the room as promised.
The A/C is set in Celsius — not a big deal, but it takes some tweaking. Thankfully, I work in HVAC, so I got it comfortable enough. The steamer leaked, so keeping clothes wrinkle-free was a challenge.
We tried booking dining times through the butlers but could never get what we asked for — everything was set for 8:30 PM, which meant missing the shows and entertainment. After getting nowhere through WhatsApp, we went directly to the restaurant ourselves and got it fixed immediately. Ironically, the butler texted afterward saying it couldn’t be changed. That’s when we stopped bothering with them. We booked our own spa and excursions, which worked out much better.
Highlights:
The Hydrotherapy area is fantastic — steam room, spa, hot tub, and jet pool included with the Diamond Club. My wife and her friend loved the hot stone massage, though it’s pricier than other resorts.
Dining:
Pescari: Outstanding — great food and excellent staff.
Hunter Steakhouse: Needs serious help. They don’t know the difference between medium-well, well-done, and rubber.
Haven Grill: Amazing food and service — we ate there twice. Wish we’d gone every day.
Olympus: Just okay. Breakfast was average American fare; the Caribbean dishes were cold.
Dress nicely for the Diamond Club restaurants (button-downs and pants), though enforcement seems inconsistent.

As for the music, you’d expect some Caribbean vibes — reggae, soca, dancehall — but it was all American party music, seemingly geared toward guests under 25. The DJ plays the same playlist nightly (Wobble, Casper Slide, etc.), no engagement with the crowd. Live performances were good, though.

No check-out assistance from the butlers. Good thing we arranged our own taxi. The funniest part? We got a message about “today’s events” after we’d already arrived at the airport.
Overall:
We still tipped generously throughout our stay, because the on-the-ground staff worked hard despite the management issues.

⭐ Honest Review: Royalton Chic Antigua (Diamond Club Stay)This was our first time traveling to Antigua, and we were looking forward to a great experience after all the rave reviews about The Royalton Chic.
Arrival & Check-In:
You can grab a taxi at the airport for $40 (about a 20-minute drive) — a quarter of what the resort charges. Upon arrival, you’re greeted with a nice welcome drink while they explain “the other charges.” There’s a $300 hold per room for security and a $6/day per person fee (for what exactly, who knows).
We booked a king-size bed, but got two queens instead. The staff didn’t make much effort to fix the issue. The wristband room keys were supposedly “pre-programmed” and no one seemed willing (or able) to change them. We waited over 1.5 hours before being told they were waiting on the “butlers.”
Diamond Club Experience:
We booked the Diamond Club package, which turned out to be disappointing. The “butlers” communicate only through WhatsApp, sending generic replies and slow responses. They gave us a quick tour, showed us how to use the room service app (24-hour service included), and that was about it. No robes in the room as promised.
The A/C is set in Celsius — not a big deal, but it takes some tweaking. Thankfully, I work in HVAC, so I got it comfortable enough. The steamer leaked, so keeping clothes wrinkle-free was a challenge.
We tried booking dining times through the butlers but could never get what we asked for — everything was set for 8:30 PM, which meant missing the shows and entertainment. After getting nowhere through WhatsApp, we went directly to the restaurant ourselves and got it fixed immediately. Ironically, the butler texted afterward saying it couldn’t be changed. That’s when we stopped bothering with them. We booked our own spa and excursions, which worked out much better.
Highlights:
The Hydrotherapy area is fantastic — steam room, spa, hot tub, and jet pool included with the Diamond Club. My wife and her friend loved the hot stone massage, though it’s pricier than other resorts.
Dining:
Pescari: Outstanding — great food and excellent staff.
Hunter Steakhouse: Needs serious help. They don’t know the difference between medium-well, well-done, and rubber.
Haven Grill: Amazing food and service — we ate there twice. Wish we’d gone every day.
Olympus: Just okay. Breakfast was average American fare; the Caribbean dishes were cold.
Dress nicely for the Diamond Club restaurants (button-downs and pants), though enforcement seems inconsistent.

Cons: The food is very basic, typical of a three star but certainly not what we’re paying for. Few options and not cooked well (steaks overdone, fish is fishy). It seems they have issues sourcing food (ran out of limes, no blue cheese or balsamic available for my Cobb salad, etc.) Service is slow, and to put it in perspective if waiters walk by you they don’t stop to offer a drink order, or clear away garbage or empty drinks. Place is empty right now so can’t imagine what it would be like if at maximum capacity. Dirty dishes sit in dirty hallways for days, public toilets are frequently clogged (like day after day the same toilets don’t work). Overall unfortunately I don’t recommend if you’re looking for quality service and good food. There’s a sandals down the way on the same gorgeous beach, check out the reviews there…this beach is incredible!

Here with two other couples, upgraded to the diamond club. Pros: The resort itself is lovely-small but stylish, tons of loungers and several pools. The gym is great and classes are fun, run by an enthusiastic team. Entertainment is good.
