Relaxing time away

We just returned from a romantic getaway to this resort. Overall, if you’re looking for a very lowkey vibe, no loud music or distractions, and plan to mainly stay at the resort, then this resort is your vibe. The resort is newly opened as of Jan 2025 so we extended grace as far as construction that was underway and the minimal offerings. It was only at 40% occupancy (approx 40 rooms) when we were there and it was perfect.

Pros: rooms are incredibly spacious. We had an ocean front room with a plunge pool and it was probably one of the largest rooms we’ve stayed at in an all inclusive. Food was great, especially for an all inclusive. No buffets, no dinner reservations required or needed. The woman who manages the taco station during breakfast is great and is a must try! Dinner at the Mexican restaurant was great, don’t miss out on the beef tenderloin and the octopus taco. If dining at the French/italian restaurant make sure to try the burrata. Pappardelle with clams was also tasty. Desserts everywhere were great. Room service food was good also (try the smoked bacon burger). When dining by the pool (Joya restaurant) make sure to try the smoked pear salad (we added prosciutto), the steak tacos and shrimp tacos were good and all of the grilled proteins. They only have 3 restaurants and each one is solid. Room service was never lacking. The room was cleaned everyday and we never ran out of clean towels. Service-wow everyone is just so nice and it felt like they all shared the responsibility of keeping things running around the resort. Some folks that we encountered that were great were-Melissa (restaurant host), Candido, Eugenio, Mauricio, Felipe, and Ivan. But really everyone was great.

Cons: resort is located down a VERY bumpy road. Don’t let that scare you! The resort has minimal activities (which is ok) but for the limited wellness and epicurean experiences you have to sign up with the concierge. It was would useful if the app was uploaded to include that information and allow you to sign up once you’re there. It would be helpful to also include how long the experiences were since we did a meditation that lasted 30 mins, a ceviche class that was 15 mins and a mezcal class that went the full hour. There is no presence on the beach, no beach chairs and no service. Not sure why (sargasm appeared under control) so maybe this will change. As mentioned, nighttime activities are very limited, mainly live musical performances (like a piano player or sax player). Like with the other activities, it would be good to know these offerings in advance or via the app so we can plan accordingly. Lastly, the bugs oh the bugs. We unfortunately weren’t able to utilize our outdoor space because the mosquitos were not having it. Next time we’ll try a room on the upper floors-hopefully that makes a difference.

Paradise Place! Fantastic Vacation! *****

This September, we vacationed at Paraiso de la Bonita, Riviera Maya. We've been staying here since 2009 and have visited over 13 times.
This resort was previously owned by another company. We loved the place, its atmosphere, its natural beauty, and its location. In 2023, the resort had undergone a change in ownership, causing it to close while the property underwent renovations.

After their opening, we eagerly returned in September 2025, and it is safe to say that everything has become MUCH BETTER! The rooms have been beautifully renovated with a modern style. The restaurants and all the spaces have been designed in a cozy way. The food and menu was excellent. Although there was a lot of seaweed in the ocean when we were there and we could not swim, we were more than happy to sit by the magnificent seawater pool in which we spent more time than in a regular pool. All of the rooms are ocean-front, as all the houses are located along the seashore, a rarity. The rooms are large and consist of two rooms and have terraces.

In addition to the place itself being cozy and familiar, we were delighted to receive highly professional service and a friendly attitude. The resort fully deserves a five-star rating. We attribute much of this to General Manager Cesar Eslava. We met him during check-in, and he did everything to make our vacation unforgettable. Big thank you to guest manager Diego, his assistant Romeo, butlers Rene and Daniel, waiters Enrigue and Jonathan, chef Javier, pool attendant Eugenio, and bartender Candido for taking care of us and providing impeccable service.

If you're looking for a relaxing and beautiful place with high-quality service, excellent food, and high-quality rooms, this is the place for you. A huge thank you to all the staff, and we look forward to visiting again!

Relaxing resort with amazing food and great staff

Paraiso de La Bonita was wonderful - we would recommend (and already have!) this resort to any friends - we got very lucky with the weather, so if you arrive and the forecast is all rain, don’t give up hope! We ended up having 5 days of full sunshine and beautiful weather! We enjoyed the pool experience, loved the staff and the wildlife (we even got to release baby seat turtles! - but my favorite were the coatís)

Highlights: The food was AMAZING - make sure to try the tuna tartare at the restaurant next to the pool; the poolside server Genio was absolutely ON IT and so wonderful; Juanjo was a fantastic sommelier and impromptu tequila tasting aficionado that had incredible attention to detail & remembers our names throughout the week and always asked how we were doing; the bartenders Raul and Luis(ito) were not only knowledgeable, but they helped me practice my rusty Spanish and we had wonderful conversations.

Room for improvement: We were told at the beginning of the week that both restaurants would be open for dinner each night, but typically only one was open - which I totally get given the resort was pretty quiet. However, when we checked in with our butlers on multiple days, they told us they would both be open only for us to come down for dinner and find that wasn’t the case - so would just be great to know which restaurants will actually be open; The service for breakfast and for room service left something to be desired as they both took quite a while to come out; the cleaning service was also a bit disappointing at times as they’d come in the morning and take the dishes from room service if we ordered it and then leave it directly outside the door for animals to eat or to fill up with water if it rained - the dishes sometimes stayed there for hours and hours; would also like to see them have face wash in the bathroom in addition to soap/shampoo/conditioner; we also had quite a bit of construction noise at times from rooms being renovated nearby; finally, Mauricio was FANTASTIC, but would love to see a little bit more variety in the programs offered

This is still a growing resort and I’m confident that any of these issues (which pale in comparison to the amazing things we experienced!) will be resolved before the resort is open at full capacity!

The Best Relaxing Resort Vacation

This was such a wonderful resort and vacation! The grounds, rooms, and food are wonderful (yes they are still doing some construction but it was not a problem for us), however the staff really made the stay amazing. If you are looking for a very relaxing, quiet resort with amazing service this is the place! Our butlers Renee and Daniel were wonderful, always around to help with anything we needed. Jose took amazing care of us at the pool, Ricardo made the BEST coffees and was just so nice. Mauricio kept us busy learning about Tequila and Ceviche, as well as pool aerobics and yoga which was so fun. Chef Javier not only taught us how to make some amazing ceviche but also made us our own off-menu sushi dinner one night, it was such a special and delicious treat. When they ask what they can do for you, they really mean anything! I also received an amazing massage from Gabrielle. The whole trip was really just unforgettable and we feel so lucky to have stayed here with this group who made us so comfortable and felt like family. There isn't really a beach, but you can go on excursions. We didn't feel a need since it was so lovely just sitting by the pool. Highly recommend for your next trip, can't wait to go back!

Wonderful cooking class!

We had a wonderful cooking class with Daniel. He taught us to make ceviche. He was full of cooking tips and experience! We got to prepare the dish and then enjoy eating it.

5 Star yet down-to-earth relaxation in paradise

The stay was so wonderful. This was my first stay at an All-Inclusive. I'm just writing as the thoughts come to me, so I apologize it's not very organized.

I loved every minute of it. Every meal was a treat! You'll feel like you're going out to snazzy restaurant every time. The room service food was decent, but opt for dining at the restaurants. The atmosphere is so nice. Two lovely bars, great drinks. I didn't get much time at The Piano bar regrettably. All the relaxing and chilling in the day made us tired. I had a suite with the small plunge pool. I'd call it a splash pool as it is shallow, but it was so perfect for sitting in during the day with a glass of wine or beer, cooling off. The lizards chilled in the lawn as I basked in the Caribbean sunshine looking at the palm fronds swaying in the warm sunny breeze. As the hotel has fully transitioned from Zoetry to Marriott, please know there is still work being done everyday by hardworking people. They worked what seemed nonstop, getting everything ready so they can operate at full capacity soon. If this bothers you, I'd highly advise you to wait until all renovations are completed. The grounds facing the beach are lovely and simple. Glad it wasn't overly landscaped blocking the natural scenery- you'd be competing with God!!!!

I didn't go to the beach, but I had set my expectations not to. The sea was still full of sargassum seaweed, but this is Mother Nature. I saw the beach being cleaned everyday. The sand was free of dead seaweed, so there was no stinky smell. Other reviews here say otherwise. I guess if you really want to get in the sea, please go during winter when it's almost guaranteed there will be no sargassum.
Can we talk about the thalassotherapy pool? Wow. This was one of my favorite things. It was so salty, you tended to float. Very relaxing. The fountains spewing water, and the jets mixing the salty water heightened the enjoyment. The chaises on the lawn looked so nice, but I didn't have time as I was in the water my whole time there. The spa isn't operating yet as they're renovating. You can still schedule massages, which we did. They're dedicating a suite for this at the moment. The massage therapist was wonderful.

Honestly, the best part of your stay will be the people. I guess I didn't even mention the spacious suite, luxury zen spa bathrooms with soaking tubs and bed linens I'd love to own. All of that is just lovely, but I can't say enough of the hotel staff. I know they're getting paid to be friendly and nice, but the warmth and hospitality was felt from their hearts. I don't remember all the names, and I'm sorry about that. Please know I loved my stay and hope very much to return. You all made us feel so invited and like VIP guests. I will never forget it. 🥰

Great escape

Really great experience at this resort..The staff really makes you feel welcome and made this Birthday Celebration special. Raul at KUHUL really was amazing at making our dinners a memorable experience! At the Bonita coffe bar Luis and Ricardo both are so kind and friendly. An Jorge was always around smiling and serving us w a smile. The chef Xavier was amazing!

Best Hotel Every
