WORST OF MY TOP 3! DON'T GO!!!

Let me start by saying this hotel is NOT HANDICAPPED Accessible. 18 concrete steps to get to the pool, from there 8 to get to the beach which is not maintained and had worn out sagging chairs and no wait service. ThFrom the pool desk to the tiny infinity pool 8 steps, from pool deck to adult pool 6 step and no other way to get to these! What should be improved? Everything!ROOMS: Our first room had sand in the bed and was dirty, with rust running down the wall from a shower bar. Thanks to Jose Martin, we were moved late the second day, to a very nice room with a balcony. Day 4, there was water running down the wall and all over the floor. We first spoke to two young girls at the front desk and they assured us someone would fix the issue. Day 5 - We contact Jose and in the late afternoon he brought a repairman in. Then all the power went out until 10:30PM - so no fix to the issue. We assumed there would be someone working on it in the morning - NOPE! NADA! We put down towels and watch the mold grow! Day 7 - we checked out and showed pictures of water running down a wall next to a light switch, towels on the floor and water still leaking across the wall and now behind the mirror! I explained that they had a serious health and safety issue with the room now and needed to get someone there to repair the issue - it was obvious that the water was coming from a pipe in the room above us! We were in room 2048.
The two girls at the front desk were absolutely useless and did NOTHING. FOOD: Was not Mexican/Spanish in any way. No chips, No salsa, No tacos, No burritos, No mango,No papaya! Everything tasted the same in every restaurant. Everything from meat to vegetables was luke warm and floating in a disgusting sauce. The only thing to look forward to was the sweet lady at the egg station making omletes! It was the ONLY thing that was fresh. POOL: The Pool was disgusting and if you moved your hand back and forth, you would have hair between your fingers - In the area with loungers at the pool, I had tocalled over a person because I thought someone vomited in the pool. I was informed it was leakage from backwash - truly disgusting. They did nothing to clean it up!
I cannot tell you how happy we were to leave!
The really sad part is that we had been to Tucancun 5 times before beginning in 2000. We loved it and the people that worked there were wonderful!
ENTERTAINMENT: The entertainment is the bar/lounge was great but only one night out of 7. Dancers were very good but Michael Jackson was pathetic and most people walked out!
RESORT OVERALL: We realized in a very short amount of time that we were the only US/Canada English speaking people at the resort. In past visits we were always able to communicate with people working at the resort, but no one made any effort to communicate, except the bartenders, who were always kind and helpful. Why would anyone, in their right mind, remodel a resort and put in 19 steps to get to the pool? You are not handicapped accessibe and this should be clearly stated on your site.
We booked directly through the Barcelo site and the oonly advantage was our transporation was arranged at the same time.
I really don't know how to explain this other than TERRIBLE! and I guarantee you that no one that knows us or if a FACEBOOK friend or checks you out on TRP ADVISOR will go to TUCANCUN!

Terrible stay

I was disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The service did not meet expectations, and the food quality was quite poor. Communication was difficult as most of the staff didn’t speak English, and the pool area was not clean or properly maintained. I hope management takes these issues seriously and makes improvements for future guests.

Excellent stay

Yesterday we came to celebrate my wife's birthday and as always everything excellent, Good Service and excellent price, the best thing that because you are a frequent customer make you more discount, and not only that thank you to the staff/host named Jose Martin for helping us with the room we love it

Wonderful trip

We booked this resort for a girls trip, and it was amazing, they'll were constantly cleaning, constantly making sure we were comfortable, the fridges in our room were stocked with snacks.. we got complimentary champagne, which was such a beautiful touch. The bartenders made an effort to learn our names and our drinks and had them ready as we were sitting at the bar. During our trip we would watch sports in the lobby and the would bring out snack with the drinks it was incredible. They were extremely considerate and really helpful. I would recommend booking this resort. The beach access is amazing and the people are great.

has an amazing view

there is no good, bad or ugly, for the most part , its average, rooms are a bit under whelming, short staffed at the bars, so you definately need a bit of patience there, grounds are spectacular, love the 3 pools and that view, food is average, good selection, resort definately caters to those that speak spanish more than english speaking, we found that out at the lobby bar, didnt matter how much we tipped , service there was horrible , we give it 7/10 overall
