There are better hotels for less

My family and I usually stay at the Royal Decameron locations every time we are in Jamaica, but wanted to try something different. Given the reviews, we were very enthusiastic about trying this hotel.

The rooms need a major upgrade as they are old and some tiles on the floor are cracked. Went to the front desk to ask them to fix a problem that was caused by a miscommunication between staff and had to wait one hour in line (again for an issue they caused). We were told told not to keep room cards near electronics and we did that yet every minute the cards stop working. So we had to go to the front desk and had to always wait in the long line. If you want food on the beach, much of the food always runs out and you have to wait a while for them to cook more.

The hotel could use more chairs with umbrellas or shades. Other guests will always wake up near sunrise to reserve the chairs in the shade all day. So even if the chair is by the pool, these guest would then go to lunch, go to the beach and go to lunch even while not allowing anyone else to use the chairs. if they had more, this would not be an issue.

Entertainment was so much better at decameron. Entertainment crew engaged more with guest at the other hotel and nightly shows were more entertaining. This hotel wasn't worth the increased cost. If your debating between this one and decameron, pick decameron. I find that the decameron rooms could also use an upgrade but Iberostar was more expensive so I expected better.

Excelent holidays in iberostar Selection Jamaica

Thanks to Leroy Kacia serene because ir their gentle attention in the prestige! They were very Kind!!! The beaches in hotel are excelent! And the Food is good!

Was more a 3 star hotel and wouldn’t visit again!

I’ll start with negatives
Before arriving had e mailed hotel reception with a room request which they replied yes, when we arrived this hadn’t been done so after 9 hour flight we had to wait for room to be ready.

Felt hotel overall was more for 20 year olds, music taste around pool, sometimes lobby & music was always very loud around pool, karaoke, the show time theatre, pool often had bar music then also the entertainment team music so often 2 lots of music being played, music stops around 12am.

Tried to book Japanese’s restaurant on app but couldn’t which led me to speak to reception where they then send you to the sales people who act like being helpful but try and get you to the breakfasts to sell you time shares.

Only 1 food buffet and limited choice, only snacks bar offers in night is popcorn

Room keys so old always breaking even though kept away from phones

When shows outside not many tables so ended up in lobby as sports bar for karaoke was quite small and very loud.

Weekends definitely busier with maybe locals arriving, very loud around pool in days couldn’t also get to the pool bar, and very rude loud people arriving back in hotel after nightclub maybe early hours shouting outside rooms as walking past!

Shop was expensive, 14 usd for bag of lays crisps!!

Positives :
Mention to Cassandra in food buffet she was lovely, sangrean in lobby bar, Roshane & Dean lobby bar very friendly and helpful.

Fab free ice cream pancakes etc 12 lunchtime - 10pm Each day which my son loved

Didn’t have to rush for sun beds which was nice, although parasols went quite quick.

Italian & Japanese’s were very nice restaurants.

Beach was fab!! Apart from the locals selling things in their rafts.

Paid to visit the suites hotel 140 usd we paid in total for 2 days for 2 adults (kids free) had to do at end of our day due to swapping hotel all inc bands.

this was by far nicer than the beach hotel! & lazy river was fab! Theatre nicer & not as loud. Nice cafe at hotel.
Wanted to visit the Asian restaurant but was 40 min wait unfortunately.

Overall wouldn’t visit again, when checking out we weren’t even asked if enjoyed our stay!

Family vacation at Iberostar Montego Bay

Leroy syrene was the best! The bartenders and star camp counselors for the kids are all great! Highly recommend!!! We will definitely be back again

Another amazing stay

We have visited this hotel twice before so we knew what to expect. The hotel is always clean and the staff are very friendly and will help you out in any way they can. The food in the buffet restaurant is too class and such a variety to chose from. The entertainment team ( fressh, fiends, big Wayne) were always busy ( it's a shame Skinny/ankle socks) has left but we did meet him when he arrived for his own vacation. The down side to the entertainment was that they have changed some of the previous entertainment, they have stopped the white night and had a quiz night instead!! Apart from that very small change, it is still an amazing place to stay.

Amazing 50th Anniversary

Sorry to be a little late on my review. This was our 4th time at this hotel through the years. So when our 50th wedding anniversary was coming up on June 14th we decided to choose the Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach. The previous times we were there we were never disappointed in the service we received. We arrived on the 13th of June 2025 around 5 pm at the hotel. I had emailed for a handicap room as I have problems walking and need a walker to get around. Unfortunately they didn’t have a room available for me as these rooms cannot be reserved in advance as it is only upon arrival can you ask for this kind of room. I had my email from customer relations with me and the young lady who was at reception called her supervisor to accommodate me right away. I am so sorry that I didn’t write down her name as she was amazing taking care of us. We were upgraded to an ocean front room with a walk in shower and a chair was placed in the shower as I am unable to stand up alone. The next day the day of my anniversary I received a lovely champagne bottle with 2 glasses sent up by the same young lady of the day before. It was such a nice gesture. The same day the customer services came to deliver some lovely gifts as I was a return customer. There was a bottle of rum, Jamaican Sorrel jam, Jerk spice and a small rum cake. It was quite nice.The pool was great. I didn’t have problems going down the steps of the pool with the help of my husband but coming back up was another story. There was one lifeguard nicely built I must say lol he was always there to help my husband in getting me up the stairs. I didn’t get his name. I should have written down the names of the staff who were so kind to us to give them a good reference as to how they went beyond their jobs to help us out.
The food was very good as well. We will go back sooner than later as we felt very comfortable at this hotel.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall - 50/50

My overall experience of this hotel was good. The hotel looks good and did not feel over crowded. Staff were all friendly and nice. There were a few issues at check-in as they could not seem to find my booking. But this was resolved after a long while. I was slightly disappointed with the rooms they looked extremely dated. Bathroom mirrow was rusty, we had a leak from the ceiling. Which was quickly repaired but the ceiling was left looking awful. There was always a fight to open the chester draws and the bedside cabinet drawer, both were extremely stiff and not aligned well. The maid came everyday and the room was always clean and tidy. The fridge was maintained with basic complimentary drinks (all inclusive). A weird thing, no teaspoons are provided in the rooms, so I was not able to stir my coffee every morning. The hotel also has a no straw policy as part of their saving the planet pledge. We brought some hard plastic reusable straws from a local shop. Some drinks just require a straw.
We found things out as we went along. For example the shuttle bus service to the shops, some free water activities, a restaurant by the beach. I think it was called cookout. After day 3 we were told about the app where we found out loads of information about the hotel. Cocktails are made really strong. A few wheel chairs were required for people who could not handle their drinks. Really loved some of the free day time activities like sip and paint, jewellery making. Tie dye had a small fee. My teenagers were happy to get involved with the daily sport activities and the evening entertainment.
There are 2 other Iberostars located in the same vicinity, the selection and adult only, you can use the golf buggies to go between hotels. I am not sure if you are allowed to eat in the other hotels, but we did get an opportunity to eat in the selection hotel whilst listening to a rep convincing us to take up Iberostar membership. We got $80 for the inconvenience and the trauma of enduring the whole one hour and a half talk.
The food in this hotel was very nice, very authentic. My fussy daughter was absolutely fine. One thing they need to invest in is parasols to accompany the sun loungers. We struggled to protect ourselves from the blazing heat. They have make shift straw like umbrellas but they are not really positioned well. The life guard had the best umbrella, we envied him lol. The gym and the night club are located in the hotel next door, a 5 min walk.
What really made this holiday was the entertainment crew, Sparkle, V6, Mickey Mouse, Concrete, Turbo, Red Bull. KK, Tiffany (can't remember them all) . They were all brilliant and my kids loved them. They were always ready to bring the vibe. Love and miss you guys ❤️

Best vacation! Can't wait to go back!

I have never been to Jamaica before and this was the best vacation ever! Did not want to leave. The staff was amazing! We checked in and went to the beach. (Mind you my husband said he is not a beach person.) The jerk chicken was so good. The beach Olympics were going on. Very entertaining. The steak and lobster place was so good. All the activities were great! (Foam party, sip and paint, and bbq on the beach) loved the place so much we joined the club. We will be back! Shout out to concierge Colin for taking care of us. And also Samantha with the club. We really thought it was nice of you to call and make sure we made it home safe. Keep in touch. We will be back. You guys are like family!

Warm Welcome and Mixed Impressions at Iberostar Waves

From the moment we arrived at Iberostar Waves, the bell boys set a wonderful tone for our stay. Their greeting was both warm and humorous; one of them said, "Welcome home!" which was a funny but truly touching way to start our vacation. This small gesture made a big impact and gave us a great first impression. Nikko and shane, in particular, was fantastic they were always helpful with information and recommendations throughout our trip.
The front desk staff was also welcoming especially trishana, but the room assignment showed a lack of common sense. My husband and I were given a room with two double beds, which was an odd choice for a couple. This required us to go back and get the room changed, which was a minor inconvenience.
The food at the resort was good, and the servers were consistently professional. Good job Cassandra,However, the supervisors seemed lazy and unhelpful, often just pointing fingers and not providing proper support. On a more positive note, the laundry service clearly does a great job, as our linens were always clean and fresh. The housekeeping staff was also good, though they seemed to be working with limited supplies, as they didn't have basic items like bleach.
The security team was commendable—they were honest and reliable. The bar staff worked extremely hard and were very entertaining, making our time at the bars enjoyable. In contrast, the entertainment team was unprofessional. The male members spent most of their time flirting with female guests, which was inappropriate and took away from the overall entertainment experience.

30th wedding anniversary

The location was very good being close to the airport. We chose this hotel due to my wife being gluten free she struggled because the food wasn't labelled having to ask everytime. The hotel is clean and tidy and the entertainment staff are brilliant the majority of Barr staff are friendly but slow to serve. The buffet restaurant was terrible it was boiling hot with no air conditioning or fans the service was terrible staff not friendly having to beg for a drink usually arriving when you'd finished your meal. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and we were told before booking that the hotel makes a fuss of speacial occasions so my wife emailed them and informed them at check in, my wife was really looking forward to a little personal treatment we received nothing whatsoever didn't bother myself but really upset my wife. I would not return to this hotel there are far better for the amount of money you pay.

Good vibes only!!!

I had an amazing time at Iberostar Waves Rose Hall! The place was clean and tidy. Housekeeping always on time to keep the room tidy and clean and the room restocked. The pool was massive and extremely clean. The food was good and had plenty of options everyday. The beach was beautiful and peaceful. Music was always playing and vibes were immaculate. Big shout out to the entertainment team, especially DJ Turbo, always had a vibe going with the music and Mickey Mouse with the good vibes and dancing. Big up to you both!!!! Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Like family

This was our third time at this resort, and once again it exceeded every expectation! Our ambassador, Asani, went above and beyond to make sure we felt completely at home throughout our stay. Ann Marie is absolutely wonderful—she always made us feel like we were her top priority, even though she was looking after many guests.
The Prestige Beach Bar staff is truly the best! Most of them remembered us from our previous visits and welcomed us back with open arms. Special thanks to Leroy, Chad, Rohan, Kacia, Syrene, and Stacey (and I know I’m forgetting a few others!). Stacey’s treats were out of this world—her BBQ chicken was chef’s kiss!
You also have to try the jerk hut, my guy ate there everyday!
Every single member of the team made sure our stay was as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. There really are no bad days in Jamaica—except the day you have to leave. The Prestige staff has truly become like family to us, and we’re already counting down the days until we return next September!

Prestige Beach Staff

Leroy, Chad and Casia at the Club Presitge area at the Beach are amazing. They are one of the main reasons we come to Jamaica.
