Paradise Found at Half Moon Bay – Especially Villa 85!

From the moment we arrived at Half Moon Bay, we knew we were in for something special. The property is breathtaking, and the villas are truly magnificent – spacious, beautifully designed, and perfectly maintained. We stayed in Villa 85, and I can’t say enough about the incredible staff who made our experience unforgettable. Sonia, Venris, and Lezrene went above and beyond every single day – warm, attentive, and thoughtful in every detail. They made us feel completely cared for, while also creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that felt like home in paradise.

The resort is outstanding. The spa was a highlight – serene, luxurious, and exactly the recharge I needed. For families, the kids club and childcare are excellent; our little ones were engaged, safe, and so happy each day, which made the trip equally relaxing for us. We loved all of the restaurants, and especially enjoyed the beach bbq.

Half Moon Bay is a rare gem where luxury meets warmth, and Villa 85 is the perfect example of that. We can’t wait to return!

Magic at the Half Moon

I had the most magical weekend at Half Moon. From the staff, to the rooms, to the ambiance, I was truly blown away. Alesha so patiently helped my partner with making our reservations and the magic started there. At check-in, Stacy-Ann was the absolute best. Ten, our Bell hop truly made our stay exceptional. He went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Pauline at North Pointe was truly spectacular. All the staff was amazing, from the Landscapers, to the Security Guards. You all helped to make our stay a memorable one. Thank you!

Our first family vacation

Our family vacation was truly a memorable one. This was due to the exemplary service we received at Half Moon Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We travelled with two small children who also attended the Children's Village. They asked to go daily and in my opinion, this is a testament to the treatment and activities provided by the staff there. The staff at Half Moon beginning with our Concierge Carol, Reservationist Eulette, Bell persons Wayne, Arrondo and Shannon, Servers Tashauna, Linval and Onelcia and a host of other staff made sure every detail was attended to. We are repeat customers because this has become our "spot". As is said in Jamaica, "Half Moon and it's wonderful staff Big Up Yuhself"!

Exactly what we needed!

This was my first time at Half Moon, and I was hoping for a relaxing and bespoke experience. My family and I had exactly that - and so much more. Everything and everyone made us feel at home. I traveled with my sister, my son, and daughter. From check-in and the detailed property tour we received from Corey - he was beyond kind to my son and made sure to call him by his name - to the helpful assistance at check-out with O'Brien, this ranks as one of the best hotel stays I've had in a while, and I visit Jamaica every year.

The attention to detail is what made all the difference. Special shout-out to Mr. Dean and Kenisha at the pool - you both made it an unforgettable experience for our family. We even received a complimentary cake to celebrate my sister's birthday. We will definitely be back!

Great Amenities Undone by Poor Service

This was my third stay at the hotel, and while there are some positives worth noting, the overall service experience left us disappointed and made our stay far less enjoyable than it should have been.

On the positive side, the hotel itself is beautiful. The location is excellent, the grounds are spacious, and the pools and common areas are well designed. A few members of the staff—particularly some of the wait staff—delivered outstanding service, going out of their way to be kind, attentive, and professional. Those moments of excellence stood out and made a real difference.

Unfortunately, the overall service fell well below expectations. The check-in process set the tone: the staff member who assisted us was neither warm nor welcoming, and instead came across as curt, argumentative, and even hostile. She refused to honor the AmEx Fine Hotels & Resorts benefits that were clearly included with our reservation, despite my providing proof and a receipt. Rather than resolving the issue, she insisted I contact American Express directly—even though I was out of the country—an unreasonable expectation for a returning guest. The way she handled the situation, and her dismissive attitude when I asked about the room upgrade, was a poor start to our stay.

Other service gaps continued throughout. Some restaurant staff were polite and professional, but others seemed uninterested, unfriendly, or only became attentive after receiving a tip. At times, it felt like service was based on a quid pro quo rather than genuine hospitality, which is not the experience you expect at a property of this caliber.

The room assignment also created challenges. We were placed at one far end of the resort, nearly half a mile from the only open pool. With two children, this was difficult to manage. After requesting a closer room, we were moved—but only three buildings closer—leaving the pool still a significant distance away. To make matters worse, the beach near our room was not maintained to the same standard as the beaches closer to the center of the resort, further diminishing the experience.

Lastly, while the food was good, it was very expensive for the quality and portion sizes.

Overall, the amenities and a few exceptional staff members prevented this from being a truly terrible stay. But the disappointing service—not just unfriendly, but at times outright rude—overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable return visit.

Disappointing decline after years of excellence

This has been our resort of choice for several years. The food is magnificent and the location is ideal. The recent upgrades have been appreciated.
However the quality of the staff has steadily been declining. The service was disappointing and frankly, the management seems cavalier about it.
There will always be stand outs. Talent and conscientiousness speak for themselves. But outside of that, attention to training is key. There has been a steep decline in that department.
The room service staff is always top notch. But good luck with housekeeping, grounds personnel and the regular wait staff.
I hope that an intervention can be run before the experiences are totally ruined by a lack of kindness, plain rudeness and a generalized spirit of unwillingness.
No one is asking for colonial genuflecting, just basic customer service training.

Half Moon Happiness

I had a wonderful stay at Half Moon, Montego Bay. What stood out most was the sense of space and calm,
no unnecessary noise or constant background music, just the sound of the sea and nature.

The modern rooms at Eclipse impressed me, especially with their luxurious bathrooms, but I also loved the Founder’s Cove rooms for their easy access to the beach and the added privacy they offer.

The true highlight, though, was the staff. Their willingness to help and genuine care made the stay feel magical. A special thank you to Brianna and the entire Half Moon team for creating such a memorable experience.

That was a turnoff I did not visit Half Moon to get begged for money they can do better especially because I tend over tip but please have some tact

Great stay at half moon Jamaica!

We stayed in one of the villas and had a wonderful staff. Charles and Gifford our butlers attended to our every need. Angela our housekeeper kept everything nice and tidy and did my laundry daily and Dawn our chef made delicious meals for us! I would highly recommend staying in a villa when visiting this property!

Great Relaxing Trip!

Had a wonderful 5 day stay at Half Moon with my family and friends. We stayed in a 7 bedroom villa and it was great for each of us to have our own space and common space and pool. The outdoor tvs were a nice touch. The villa came with a team. Our butler, Charles was great and very helpful. His assistant Gifford helped out, our housekeeper Angela was very helpful and in addition to keeping our villa tidy, she laundered/ironed clothes as needed (with a very quick turnaround). Our cook, Dawn made a fantastic traditional Jamaican meal with jerk chicken, oxtails, plantains, rice and peas, cabbage, festival, and more. Arianna was very helpful in making spa appointments upon arrival.

Hotel breakfast in a restaurant near the lobby was a buffet with omelet station that had plenty of options and Claudio was great and prepared delicious waffles.

And the hotel also regularly releases baby sea turtles into the ocean, so it was magical to get to witness 70+ tiny 3 day old sea turtles return to the ocean. A huge thank you to our butler, Charles, for keeping us posted about the timing of that activity.

The fitness center attendant, Antonique, was great and went above and beyond to check in the back for an item that I was looking for in my size. After I left, she even found a different dress in my size, pulled it out and had it waiting at the gym to see if I wanted to purchase it the next day. Spoiler alert, I did!

We enjoyed our time!

Amazing getaway

I recently spent my birthday weekend at Half Moon Hotel, and it was an unforgettable experience. The hotel is stunning, with beautifully kept grounds that makes for such a relaxing atmosphere.

The staff truly made the stay special, they were attentive, pleasant, and always willing to go above and beyond to meet our needs. We had a small hiccup when we got locked out of our room and had to wait a bit, but the team handled it professionally. They immediately apologized, offered me a complimentary massage with a glass of champagne, and our butler surprised me with a birthday cake in my room. Those thoughtful touches really made me feel celebrated.

I would highly recommend Half Moon Hotel for anyone looking for a enjoyable and relaxing getaway.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review for Half Moon Bay Resort

This was our third trip to Half Moon, and it has truly become a special place for my husband and me. We first discovered the resort when we won a package at a silent auction for a local non-profit, and ever since, we’ve intentionally made it a tradition to come back every other year.

What makes Half Moon so unique is the people. The staff feel more like family — they genuinely care about what they do and about making you feel at home. Every time we visit, we leave with more connections and more appreciation for their warmth.

The property itself is stunning. We love that the resort is spread out, so you never feel crowded. The views are breathtaking, and there’s always something to do for active guests like us — pickleball, paddle boarding, golf, biking, and more. On this trip, we treated ourselves to a couples massage at the spa, which was incredibly relaxing and personalized to each of our needs.

Dining at Delmar was another highlight. The food was outstanding, but the service was even better — attentive, warm, and memorable.

Half Moon continues to wow us. We’re excited to see the resort evolving with larger, more modern suites and group lodging, while still staying true to its classic five-star service and personal touches. It’s rare to find a place that grows and innovates without losing its heart, but Half Moon does just that.

We can’t wait to return again.

Exceptional resort, however, everything comes with a price tag.

Exceptional resort but all food and beverage has an additional 15% tip and 10% tax added to it. They should just increase their menu price to allow for transparency. The resort grounds are phenomenal and the Eclipse rooms are clean and modern. Make sure to check out the newly renovated gym and say hi to Trudy, the recreational manager. She’s very warm and welcoming and will go out of her way to help you. Errol at the equestrian center was my guide on my horse excursion. He truly made the ride amazing!

Fantastic Half Moon!

I have to say that out 4 day jaunt to Half Moon was bittersweet. Bittersweet because the trip was wonderful but agonizingly too short. First let me say that the staff is friendly, accommodating and really top drawer.
A special shout out to Godfrey in the water sports who gave us a terrific private boat day, Shannon and O’Brien our ever faithful drivers and procurers of necessities, Salamelicka for her excellent beach service, Nicoy, the best bartender and Tameisha, our lovely hostess.
Excellent food, fantastic accommodations (stayed in Hibiscus with a private beach) and all around gorgeous property.
We had a couples massage in the cabana overlooking the sea and it was a delight. The staff at the Fern Tree Spa had healing hands for sure! What an absolute delight. We can’t wait to come back!

This family getaway was the first of this kind sleeping under the same roof since our childhood.

My family and I had the most amazing stay at Half Moon in the Villa. I was celebrating my birthday. The staff were outstanding. Jannette, Marcia and Ferdinand. It was service at its best! Ferdinand made things seemed so easy. My family admired him and wondered if he ever stop to rest. He made it looked so easy. Marcia made the most delicious meals, we wished had her to cook for us always. Jannette spoiled us, she kept our space always clean. Experiencing this team was like living our best lives. The family only asked when are we going back? My 8 year old grand nephew said "This is the life Pinky Nanna" with a broad smile
