Excellent Service at EPM - Celebration Trip

My husband and I visited Excellence Playa Mujeres to celebrate a few life milestones in October 2025. This was our first trip to an Excellence property, and our 4th adult only all-inclusive. The private transportation to and from the airport was seamless and definitely a much more pleasant experience than the shared rides we normally get when booking with Apple. We would highly recommend booking directly with the property's website and getting flights separately just for the excellent private transport.

Room
The room number we requested wasn't able to be fulfilled due to that building being renovated so we were placed in building 1, room 1108 (end of the hall) overlooking the lazy river/spa. The room was clean, the hot tub worked well, and the toiletries provided were adequate. Overall it was a good location as far as noise and proximity to restaurants and activities. It was a bit of a walk to the pools/beach but after drinks/food, we needed the extra steps. The fridge didn't get super cold but I missed the reviews that gave a solution by pulling it out a little from the wall, so that's on us.

Food
We think 90% of the food at EPM was far superior to any of the other all inclusive resorts we've visited. Our dinners were all cooked well and very flavorful, with average portions - standing out from the rest was The Grill for their near perfect strip steak and filet (which is difficult to come by in our experience). The red velvet dessert at The Grill was also by far the most memorable! The only time we had to wait to sit for dinner was at Chez Isabel, and that was less than 5 minutes standing in line behind a large group. We did room service twice and didn't have to wait too long (food was ok). Teppanyaki at Spice is worth making a reservation for, and the Mexican night at the plaza was wonderful. My only disappointment was the wood fired pizza by the pool; I prefer my pizza crust more crispy and it was very soft. The cheese in Mexico is also quite different than what we have in the states - it doesn't seem to melt as well. When we return, I will surely ask them to leave it in the oven a little longer for a crispier crust. Lunch as Las Olas was always good and the unobstructed views of the ocean were incredible (don't drop crumbs for the birds/iguanas...an iguana jumped on me/my chair one afternoon because another person was dropping crumbs and the iguana near me got bold. I was fine, no scratches or anything). Do not skip the sports bar food! They had excellent burgers and the pulled pork sandwich was great; always say yes to their desserts!

Service
Everywhere we went, the service was above and beyond our expectations. Waiters, bartenders, and the maintenance staff were always incredibly accommodating and friendly. Managers at each restaurant always stopped by to ask about our experience and took our feedback seriously. The poolside bartenders are always very attentive. Caesar at the Martini Bar in the lobby always recognized us and had excellent drink suggestions!

Mosquitos
The mosquitoes this time of year were pretty rough and really my only true complaint (no fault to the resort). We brought bug spray (picardin based) and generously sprayed but it never seemed to keep them all off me, especially on our balcony and on the beach in the morning. The property did spray multiple times throughout the week.

We felt there were plenty of activities offered as well as shows/entertainment. If you are looking for a resort with the personalized service level of a cruise, you should book Excellence Playa Mujeres. The property was at about 65% occupancy due to renovations but I also think October is slower in general, which we enjoyed.

Nice Getaway

Everything was wonderful except for the motion sensor that turned the bathroom light on at night. Would have liked to had the option to turn this off so as not to disturb friend while sleeping.

EXCELLENT AS ALWAYS!!!!!!!!

Another top notch excellent stay October 28-November 2 as usual we will be back very soon. this was the quietest we’ve ever seen this resort in the many many times that we’ve come here. although we love it in July it was kind of refreshing cause there was no wait for anything. 🍹

Amazing service

We just left a week stay at EPM, it was our first time here. The food and drinks were mostly very good. We loved the breakfast buffet (and lunch there), Agave (Mexican), and Magna (Excellence Club restaurant). Oregano, the Italian restaurant, wasn't great either time we ate there. There were a lot of different pools to choose from and we found there were plenty of chairs available at the pools and the beach. The service was amazing everywhere. We spent a lot of time playing pool/beach volleyball with the entertainment team, and the night time entertainment was great as well. The halloween party/silent disco was a blast. Shout out to Jesus, Eduardo, Monica, Santiago, and Andres for all of the fun throughout the week! We were very impressed by Jesus learning and remembering everyone's names that he met and how personable he was. Also, Angel at the pool by the Sol bar was the absolute best. He took such great care of us all week and made sure we always had a drink in hand, remembering our previous orders but also recommending new drinks we'd like. We also really appreciated that they let us in the sports bar before it opened to watch the college football games on Saturday morning and Ivan from the Martini Bar was bringing drinks for us. We had a great time and are looking forward to our next trip back!

Amazing!

We loved everything about this resort! Beautiful beaches, fabulous food, great entertainment and fun activities! The staff are friendly and go out of their way to make your stay the best experience ever! Highly recommend Excellence Playa Mujeres! Es muy excelente!

Best resort I've been to in Mexico

We had a most excellent time at this resort. The food was fantastic, the service impeccable, the grounds were beautiful, and the staff was amazing. Huge shout out to Eduardo and Jesus on the entertainment team for helping to make such a fun and memorable trip for us! Way to go on the Halloween party guys! The Thriller dance was on point!
Also Lucy, our pool server was always making sure we didn't go thirsty! She was so attentive to our needs! Thank you Lucy!
We will definitely be back to Excellence. 10/10!

Amazing Birthday Trip

My husband and I had a wonderful time and the Excellence! Best all inclusive food by far and wonderful staff! We really enjoyed the drinks at night from Roque and Cesar and also the drinks by the pool bar with our servers Angel, Manuel and Lucy, who were great at recommending drinks and remembering our favorites!! Leslie and David at the pool bar were also fantastic, every drink we had was great too! The lobster house and Oregano for lunch had great food options, we loved the fish tacos and Fernanda and Diana who helped us out! We never had a bad meal! And at dinner on my husbands birthday at the Lobster house Danni brought out a special dessert and a group to sing for him it was wonderful! Our room was great no issues and we actually liked building 3 the views of the trees all around plus it’s secluded location was nice!
Lastly I will say the entertainment and pool volleyball was great, Jesus and all of them really make it a fun time! We also made free bracelets but forgot to do the paint and sip, we heard it was a fun time!

Excellence Playa Mujeres is Excellente!!!!

We absolutely loved Excellence Playa Mujeres! We had the EC rooftop terrace room with a beautiful view of the ocean. The room was always spotless and I can't give enough compliments to the housekeeping staff. We were in building 9 and it was very quiet throughout the day and evening. We even got treated to a fireworks show from our balcony on our first night! We went to multiple activities during the day and Jesus, from the entertainment staff, was just amazing at his job...getting everyone involved! The nightly shows were by far the best we have been to at an all inclusive! The Legends show and the Circus were great, however, the Halloween buffet, rock band, and silent disco were my favorites! The staff dressing up and performing a well rehearsed "Thriller" dance was amazing!!! The restaurants were all very good, but the Indian and French restaurants stood out above the others. Tonatiuh was our favorite waiter at the Kitchen Table, and always had a smile to greet us! We loved the many pools at the resort and how they all intertwined throughout the buildings! Only wished the hot tubs were a little warmer! Leslie, the bartender, was the Queen of Shots at the Main Pool Bar and kept the party going! The beach and ocean are my favorite place to be and this one did not disappoint. Many beach chairs under the thatched umbrellas available all day, with plenty of beach service for drinks. The water was a bit choppy due to the hurricane and winds, but the last two days, the water was calm and clear! This resort is just excellente all around!!!

Beautiful resort, very relaxing!

My wife and I stayed here during our week long honeymoon, and we truly had a great time. The resort is beautiful, the pools and the beaches are amazing, and it's very easy to relax. The staff was very attentive and very nice, always checking in on us whether in the room or at the poolside. Plenty of food options, and while none of them were "the best thing we ever had", you can always find some good quality options for whatever you're in the mood for. The guest services desk was also very helpful with helping us plan excursions, and Mexico has so much to offer! The Spa was also incredible, one of the best Spas we have ever been to. We would visit again!

Hands down the best all inclusive experience my wife and I had! Shoutout to the legend Eduardo from the activities and entertainment team for the exceptional hospitality. Came to the resort with another couple to celebrate our anniversaries and left the resort with gaining a friend and a brother!

By the way, food was immaculate and looked like art. Magna restaurant (you need to book EC) was unbelievable. I still think about it sometimes… that tomahawk and ribeye…. Yum..

Already decided to come back again!

Thank you Eduardo and the others for the outstanding service and hospitality!

Amazing Trip!!!

Me and my husband came here on our honeymoon, and it was absolutely incredible!! The food and drinks were incredible, staff was amazing, and the views are insane! 10/10 recommend, especially since their prices are a bit lower than other resorts we looked at. Book it!!

Doesn’t feel like the same resort

After coming here two years ago for our baby moon, my husband and I were super excited to come back for our anniversary. Unfortunately we are pretty disappointed by how much the resort has changed. The service is not the same , the food quality has dropped tremendously, and the night time entertainment got worse. Not sure what has happened in the last two years, but we are not happy . Probably won’t be returning again.

The Most Perfect Getaway!!

Excellence truly lives up to its name and beyond! The resort offers everything you could hope for, from delicious food, exciting activities/performances, stunning views and beaches, and an amazing atmosphere. But what made our experience truly unforgettable was the incredible staff. While everyone was warm and welcoming, two people (Eduardo and Sully) stood out the most.

Eduardo brought so much energy and enthusiasm to every activity. His passion made each event incredibly fun, and we always looked forward to seeing him at the next one! Sully made our beach day extra special. Her bright smile, upbeat spirit, and thoughtful surprises turned it into a day we'll never forget.

Beyond the beautiful resort and wonderful amenities, it's the genuine and welcoming staff who made us feel like family and who will bring us back again. We can't wait to return! Thank you, Excellence!

Cancun getaway

Overall, we enjoyed the stay at Excellence Playa. The Magna club for Excellence Club does not live up to its reputation. Upgrading to Excellence Club is very questionable.

Great vacation

Trip from 10/28-11/3 2025

We were at Excellence Playa Mujeres and it was a great trip as usual. The grounds are spotless, there are renovations going on but we have not heard any construction noise at all. We are in building 8B, and it is central to anything you need. As usual it is the staff that makes EPM so special. We have been here 15 times.
Starting with

Jacqueline ( Guest Services manager) is the heart and soul of EPM in my opinion. She goes above and beyond to make sure that we are comfortable and her attention to detail is just amazing. She is exactly what the word manager means and she does it all so gracefully. There are not enough words to describe everything she does for her guests.

Our room in 8B has a beautiful view and is kept spotless by the housekeeping staff who seem to appear out of nowhere, do what has to be done in such a professional manner. They take such care when cleaning around our belongings in the room.

The following list is long but each and every person has made this trip very special.

Fun times

We loved it there only problem we had was getting back to air port. Driver didn’t pick us till late and drive slow. Air port said because we were so late had to wait on next flight. Make sure drivers come early
