Disappointing in every way

I’ve been thinking about this review since the moment I checked in.
I had booked a Privilege Romance Room and the check in person said concierge would assist us in making reservations and exploring our benefits.
Within 5 minutes, my husband told him very politely, we can stop you right now if this is a timeshare or vacation club because we are not interested.
The guy was offended to the point of rudely exclaiming “do you really think I’d do that to you after a long day of traveling?!!”
And then he proceeded to do just that. It felt like an assault. We were hot and tired and hungry and made it very clear we weren’t interested yet he persisted. After another 10 minutes we just stood up and said no more, and proceeded to walk away. It was very clear he was annoyed.
Within the first 24 hours we were approached by 3 separate reps. I felt preyed upon. Too aggressive. We started questioning the motives of everybody.

The beach is terrible. Non existent at Riviera Maya and dirty dirty at Yucatan. The beach itself is fine but the water is brown and all weeds. Very few people in the water. Not a single clear path of sand.

The room, the Privilege Romance Room with PLUNGE POOL.
First, the room is nothing special and it’s in the worst location possible. Farthest rooms from the ocean right outside of the Japanese restaurant. The plunge pool was a dirty bathtub on the patio. Seriously! A dirty bathtub! And nobody explained the Privilege benefit until we specifically asked, they weren’t offering the info.

Way too few bar staff. Nobody seemed to be happy and friendly unless they were trying to sell you something. Kids are allowed everywhere, even at the swim up bars.

Stunning location and a fabulous stay!

I’ve seen mixed reviews of the hotel and I stayed in the RM side. I’ve had the most amazing week. I upgraded before I arrived to privilege and it’s well worth it, it only cost me an extra £42 for the week!
The BLoved restaurant was amazing, food was stunning and the staff couldn’t do enough for you! Norbert was the best waiter for breakfast but everyone, apologies I forget all your names, were amazing and attentive.
Esther at reception was very warm and welcoming and also very friendly.
I travel solo and have not felt uncomfortable or unsafe once, it’s been a fantastic week. I ventured to the marina a few times and the shop keepers/staff are lovely, not pushy at all! Happy to have a conversation and say have a great day!
My room was spotless and cleaned daily. The turn down service was a lovely touch! Room
Service has been great, the club sandwich is a must!!
The pool area was also clean and plenty of sun beds! I sat in the lagoon area on the private privilege beach, though it’s not a beach you still feel like you’re part of it! The lagoon was warm and safe to swim in!
I have had a thoroughly enjoyable time here and I will definitely come back. Thankyou for looking after me so well!

Great value for the cost

We own a home in PA. We decided to spend a few nights at this property while we had renters coming to stay in our home, We were unsure what to expect as we hear very mixed reviews from members of our community. We booked a privileged room & it was wonderful! Spacious, newly renovated, & very comfortable.
We found the situation with the Beloved restaurant to be odd as it is nowhere near the other privileged amenities. We personally did not care for our dinner we had there. The stark had an odd texture & the sea bass I ordered was not cooked fully. We did LOVE the burger place. Lovely setting & really good food. We enjoyed the Mexican restaurant & enjoyed the buffet as well. Plenty of options for all.

I think this resort is great for those who like to hang at the pools more than the beach as the beach is not the greatest, but the pools are very nice.

All of the staff was wonderful.

This resort is a great value for the money! We very much enjoyed our stay.

Not Worth It

There are nice things about this resort. Good service for food/drinks. Good entertainment. But our room, which we paid more for the privileged, was hot. 77°F. Miserable. It took multiple times telling them before they finally switched us rooms. The new room which is still a privileged is currently at 77°. They tell us the AC has been fixed. They send maintenance over and they said that it is fixed. It is still 77°. They called and asked to help compensate if we could get a reservation for a restaurant, ok great, but only for one person. Are you serious? We are a husband and wife. One person? WTF. One last night in this heat and we fly home. Poor customer service. They do not care if you are miserable. They keep saying the air is fixed but it’s still almost 80°F in the room. How is it fixed? Too many options around here to stay here. Skip it. Do not even consider it. If we weren’t privileged, our food experience would have been much worse. When we checked in, we went to make reservations and two of the restaurants were completely booked for the whole week. So our choices are buffet or the privileged restaurant.

beautiful hotel

We stayed here for one week. It's a beautiful resort, and the cleaners and ground staff work so hard to maintain the grounds. On a daily when there are torrential downpours the cleaners are there with the squeegees clearing the water from the paths. They work tirelessly.

We stayed in a privileged room on the top floor. When it rained in the corridors you'd get soaked as the roof rained in. We really struggled to dry anything on our balcony as the roof leaked in the rain. This also meant you couldn't sit out on the balcony and we love to sit and watch the world go by. The lower floors seemed fine. This just took the shine off the room for us.

The room itself was lovely, spacious with all the amenities you need the cleaners come in daily. 2 days our room wasn't cleaned as we had my husband's sleep apnea machine plugged in and they left a sheet to say because of electrical items they couldn't clean. The 2nd time was due to leaving the costume jewellery out. They expected us to put it in the safe I can understand the jewellery but I wasn't really happy about the medical equipment! It's a necessity and to have our room cleaned we had to take it apart and put it away daily!

The food:
We went to a few al a carte restaurants whilst here. They are great. We went to the steak, Mexican and Japanese. There are others to choose from to include Italian and a burger joint We did visit the main buffet too. I found this on the same every day. No variety really but you can find something to eat. The staff are very attentive, everywhere is clesn, staff all eesr hairnets and your greeted at every entrance no matyer which restraunt you go to which is a nice touch.

The snack bar was the biggest disappointment during the day you had to be fully dressed and with footwear to enter. I thought that the idea of a snack bar was to drop in your pool wear for a snack or lunch? Ate here 2 times a few days apart and it was the same food choices both days. There's a crepe bar which is lovely and bikini bites making toasties you can swing by.

Breakfast starts at 7 which personally I didn't think was early enough. For 3 days we. Had to miss breakfast as the trip collections were at 7:30 and we didn't have time to eat.

Entertainment:
I felt this hotel lacked in this area. At night there are mainly two places to go the sports bar full of kids and Families or the lobby bar. The lobby bar is lovely but there is nowhere near enough seating. If it rains staff don't take in the cushions so seating gets soaked reducing capacity further. If you're not there by 7 pm forget getting a seat.

The sports and entertainment team try hard there's a full programme of entertainment during the day and night but the night shows were disappointing. I watched Divas Show, Disney Show and Latino. The Latino to be fair was excellent but the other 2 shows weren't great. I was so distracted by the lip syncing, it's a shame these guys can dance they should just sing too would make it so much better. There was no choice of entertainment and limited places to go so we were back in our room at 10 pm as there was nothing to do.

The last thing to say is that it is difficult to get a coffee away from dining. I asked at all bars to be declined. I was irritated by this as I don't drink alcohol and I love coffee i do expect a coffee to be available at this standard of hotel.

All in all a lovely hotel,

Very good!

We booked this hotel last minute (2 days before!) as we wanted some autumn sun. We were a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but I’m pleased to say that we are pleasantly suprised.

Check in took 5 mins and we were given a welcome drink. Our room was in block 4 and lovely and quiet.

We also booked into 3 of the a la carte restaurants our first night without any difficulties. My diet is gluten free too and this didn’t prove an issue at all.

Sun-beds are all brand new and there’s plenty for everyone.

Massive bonus - There is a marina 15 minutes walk down the road, bars, restaurants and dolphin pools. As you are in a gated community area everywhere feels safe and it was lovely to be able to wander outside the resort.

Yet to go snorkelling but we have seen lots of marine life from the boardwalk.

Over all great value for money and a very welcoming resort.
