Very quiet and relaxing - right on the beach!

Wonderful quiet place. We were in #15 which is a 1 bedroom, with family room and kitchen (as part of family room). Looked right out over our private patio onto the beach. The bedroom has a relatively quiet AC unit, and the family room has a ceiling fan. Single kayaks and floating mats available for use in the ocean. We found the people who work here to be very nice.

Intimate friendly beach resort

After a long absence due to hurricane Irma, Mango Bay is once again open for business and better than ever—now including a salt water pool.
Before our arrival at the resort, we had groceries shipped from the Tortola Riteway (no association with the drug store) to the Spanish Town dock. Mango Bay’s Nathan was hugely accommodating and picked up, delivered and stored our goods in the room’s kitchenette.
One evening, we noticed Gary, the groundskeeper, knocking down coconuts from the trees at the beach. He subsequently demonstrated his skill with a machete and trimmed off the husks, serving out coconut water and coconut jelly to guests. It was a spontaneous and charming gesture.
We look forward to returning to Mango Bay, as in the past, for kayaking, paddle boarding and lounging while listening to the birds chirping and the waves crashing, all in a genial and relaxed environment.

Outstanding stay, gorgeous place!🌴

My husband and I spent 4 nights at Mango Bay and we had the most wonderful experience! Ashley & Nate could not have been more welcoming and helpful, they really went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The accommodations were lovely and spotless, fresh flowers in the room, fresh beach towels every day. The bed was so comfortable, huge plus. The views are just stunning! Kayaks, paddle boards and snorkel gear were all available for our use and there are multiple beaches easily accessible by kayak. Savannah Bay in particular was incredible, gorgeous blue water, great snorkeling and not at all crowded. There’s also great snorkeling right off the resort beach. You are situated halfway between The Baths and North Sound so the location couldn’t be more convenient. The pool is so beautiful and inviting we wanted to take a break from the beach to enjoy a few hours there too! Gorgeous landscaping everywhere you look. We’d love to return and we just left!

Exceeded the expectations

Mango Bay was the perfect place to stay on the island. Our villa on the beach was extremely comfortable and large (good bed, cold a/c, good kitchenette). And the view across the water at sunset in the evening was sublime. The resort had free snorkels, paddle boards and kayaks. Plus a pool. Our host, Ashley, was extremely warm and kind. Mango Bay it-self is located just out of the hustle and bustle of Spanish town and easy drive to good restaurants like Sugercane and Cocomaya. It’s also easy to get food from Riteway. Absolutely loved it and would come back in a heart beat. 💕🌸

25th wedding anniversary with plenty of Beach time, no worries, feeling like king and queen celebration

If I can describe this place with one word I would chose Paradise! Location is unbelievable. We stayed at the oceanfront Villa and trust me when I say it is a lot better than what you actually see on their website. It has all the amenities you need on a beachfront property. Kayaks, paddle boards, floating mats, snorkeling gear. Just open your front door and you can actually put your feet on the water and start snorkeling from there. Even though corals were starting to grow again, there is a variety of marine life that you can enjoy for hours. We were lucky enough to spot a lobster. Property Manager Ashley was very helpful even when we were still deciding on where to Celebrate our 25th anniversary. She even helped me with a surprise for my husband so when we got the Villa, there was a pretty fruit basket with a Sparkling wine to start our celebration. She even helped us the rental car so they came in to Mango Bay with the car and all we had to do was sign the papers. She also gave us pretty good recommendations on places to have dinner and so on. Our room was big, bed was comfy, spacious bathroom and a living room that overlooks the beautiful beach. The Villa was serviced every single day and the ladies in charge put fresh flowers on our table every day. Location was perfect. We were two minutes away from Savanah Beach and 10 minutes to The Baths. We had a blast and we are planning to return with our kids very soon.

Great people, housing and beaches

A beautiful pristine beach. Great selection of homes, condos and villas to choose from for housing. Virgin Gorda offers great restaurants, beaches and very kind and friendly people. Plenty to do with water activities, tennis courts, diving and boating excursions, and visiting The Baths on the island.

We will be back

We loved mango bay. It was super private and the view is incredible. Our cleaning person, Keisha, was awesome. She kept our room spotless, was super friendly, and brought us anything we asked for. Most importantly, the bed was comfortable. All that was missing were some amenities. There was no oven (we bought a pizza and couldn’t cook it), no dishwasher, only one ice tray, no colander (Keisha did bring them when I asked though). There is a grill outside but no coal and no suggestion by management where to find any. Our check in with Ashley felt a bit rushed, we didn’t receive much of an introduction to the unit so we had to figure things out each day. The location is picture perfect and the restaurants on the island were incredible (again, we learned it all on our own, management left no book etc. giving us suggestions). We will definitely be back to enjoy the stunning sunsets.

Absolutely PERFECTION- Beachfront, views, location, amenities

Absolute PERFECTION! I can’t say enough about this resort. They upgraded us to the Villa upon arrival, and we were literally 15 steps from the water. Beautiful views of Tortola, turquoise water, impeccable landscaping, fully stocked kitchen, saltwater pool with twinkle lights at night. Amenities include kayaks, paddleboards, floats for the ocean and pool, great snorkel gear and more. Daily housekeeping was amazing. You are an 8 minute drive from town (Spanish town) with tons of restaurants, marketplace and shopping. The baths is 15 min away. I recommend renting a car if you can. CocoMaya was our favorite meal, go for sunset! Sunsets are beautiful from Mango Bay though! Only downfall was no restaurant on the resort, but we got groceries and restaurants are a short drive. I HIGHLY recommend this resort!!!

Beauty on the beach!

A lovely, tranquil resort that is beautifully situated on the beach. The villas are spacious, well equipped, and very comfortable. The beach had plenty of water “toys” and lounge seating. The Manager and staff were extremely helpful and assisted us at every turn. They out-did themselves in setting up an extraordinary private catered dinner on the beach for 12 people, complete with tiki lights, floral arrangements, table linens, lights strung from trees and more. Highly recommended!

Virgin Gorda’s Best

Great location, great beach, great villa.
Small community of villas & suites ON THE BEACH …. literally.

Location: Mango Bay Resort is located in Mahoe Bay on the “soft wave” side of the island, at the base of Virgin Gorda National Park. Its nestled in a very quite area, so although there are several restaurants the will offer free r/t taxi, a vehicle is suggested to visit the numerous restaurants & sights of VG
Beach: Soft white sand, clear turquoise water, mild waves (if any), & good snorkeling. uncrowded, & picturesque
Villa: beach front - walk out back door onto sand, 10 more steps into the Caribbean! 2/bedroom/2bath/fully equipped kitchen. Spotless with a/c
Management (Ashley & Nate) delivered what they promise: a quiet, peaceful, location & a management team that will meet their guests requests & needs

Above and beyond!

My second time there because of the perfect Caribbean vibe! Laid back sophistication, tho it's missing a restaurant/bar, just for the convenience, because you truly never want to leave this tropical garden by the sea. But it isn't a deal breaker because there's no better place to be on Virgin Gorda! Ashley and her team created a beautiful beach dinner that we'll never forget!

Terrific Stay!

My gratitude to the others before us who wrote such insightful and detailed reviews of this wonderful resort. THE GOOD: Fantastic location on a picturesque white sand beach from which you can view the gorgeous sunsets and view of nearby islands. The water is so clear, warm and classic Caribbean blue. The resort is located about 15 mins north of Spanish Town. It is basically a collection of villas, has no restaurant or market and is surrounded by other residences. As a consequence, at night it is incredibly quiet and tranquil. If you’re looking for nightlife or entertainment, this is not the place. Wonderful star gazing! They have paddle boards and kayaks available. The manager was super helpful and responsive when I was making our travel plans. We truly enjoyed our stay and were reluctant to leave!
They don’t provide much info on the layout of the villas on the website. Ours was beachfront with a lovely ocean view. There were 3 bedrooms, each with a king bed. 2 bedrooms had an attached bath. One bedroom had no closet. Dim lighting at night in the rooms. Not a lot of outlets in convenient spots so you might want to bring an extension cord for your electronics. They provided towels, shampoo, soap and 1 hairdryer. There was a nice veranda with plenty of chaise lounges and a few hammocks. The view is fantastic. We would happily go back.
NITPICKING: The one knock is the market (Bucks) they recommend for pre-provisioning the villa. You have to email the market in advance to let them know what you want delivered to the villa ahead of your arrival. But they want to just run your credit card without itemizing the cost of the items before you have to pay. The food was pricey, the fruit was not of good quality and was way underripe. Out of 4 mangos, only one was barely ripe enough to eat. None of the avocados or papayas were ripe. We were only there a few days so most of the produce had to be thrown away. We arrived too late to go to a market ourselves, but if you arrive early enough, I’d suggest picking up at least any fresh produce yourself in town before heading to the resort.

Dreamy

Property was nice but the hosts were the best! Even though we were unexpected guests, Mary Beth and Lenny went above and beyond to help make sure our 10yr wedding anniversary trip was a great one!! Going in the off season is nice because there are less people but FYI a lot of places are closed. I would recommend renting a car or having someone you can call for rides as it is a little ways from things.

Stay here if coming to BVI!

We loved every aspect of our time with Mango Bay Resort. We were warmly welcomed and shown around the villas and then settled down. Water was waiting for us, which was perfect as it was a hot day. We then took advantage of the beach right there, which we had to ourselves. We were able to use the paddle board, which was free, and then would head to the pool after the beach. Mary Beth and Lenny were the perfect hostesses, and even provided an amazing breakfast when they found out it was our anniversary. We would 100% recommend this place and will be coming back!

A wonderful stay with great hosts!

What a fantastic stay! I've been twice but this time, a group of friends visited for a long weekend. Location is great...almost equally distanced from both sides of the island. Rooms comfortable. Great bathrooms. Views amazing. We were in a beachfront suite. Grounds beautiful. It's arranged in a way where you feel as if it's your own private beach property. Lots of beach water equipment for guests use.
The ocean is yours. The pool is yours. A quite and secluded little piece of heaven.

The best thing about this property are Lenny and Mary Beth. They are both warm and so helpful. Lenny is a chef and a couple in our group was surprised with the most amazing anniversary brunch! His skills in the kitchen are extraordinary.

Visit this place! You won't be disappointed!

An experience you must not miss!

This place is phenomenal! One of the highlights is the incredible team running the resort. Mary Beth and Lenny went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, and their warm hospitality truly makes the experience special.

We visited last weekend, and it was the perfect time to go—quiet and relaxing. We were especially fortunate that Lenny prepared a meal for us; he’s an outstanding chef who could easily run his own restaurant. It was the best meal we had on the island, and that says a lot given how great the local restaurants are. Overall, we had an amazing time and can’t wait to return!

Excellent resort with the BEST manager, Mary Beth!

We just returned from a wonderful week after staying at this resort. Mary Beth was awesome in making sure we were comfortable. We booked our reservation just a few months before traveling but couldn't get an oceanfront room so we were at the back of the complex which was great too. On the day of our anniversary, I asked Mary Beth if anyone had checked out because I wanted to surprise my husband for the last 2 days staying in a beachfront room and she was able to find one that had just become available. Not only did she check for availability, she and her husband actually moved ALL of our stuff while we were at another beach for the day so I could surprise my husband when we returned. We arrived to find two chocolate cupcakes and a nice bottle of wine with a sweet card and fresh flowers! She always went above and beyond to take care of any of our wishes promptly. The complex is very well situated and private although the buildings are connected. The design of this resort is awesome. We had everything we needed and the beachfront units are definitely the way to book your trip! We definitely want to return to this island and hope we can plan ahead earlier in order to get one of these spectacular units but if not the others are great too.

OK, but manage your expectations!

Mango Bay Resort was a quite unusual experience. There is a lot to unpack, so if you're thinking of staying here, you might want to stick with me for a minute.

First "Resort" is a bit generous... There is no bar, or restaurant, or any kind of food service. No stores or shops, no spa services, nor are any of these things within walking distance. There is a pool, and a good amount of water toys for both pool and beach, and the charming proprietor, Mary Beth, and the killer water view.

Mary Beth is working hard to get a bar and reaturant on property, and that would make a huge difference.

We were in the 2 bedroom Beachfront Villa... so one of thier higher end options. The upside is these villas, as you can see in the photos, are incredibly close to the water, with breathtaking views. The other side of that coin is that the folks walking and hanging out on the beach are close enough to chat with from your porch, so not a great sense of privacy when you are outside if other people are near you on the beach.

The unit itself was just plain strange. There are two bedrooms and two baths... but both baths were outside the bedrooms, adjacent to each other in a hallway. The kitchen and the dining table were outside on the porch, so shooing away flies was part of any food prep, but the refrigerator was inside, in a corner of the living room, with no counter or table nearby... so even making a sandwich entailed a lot of back and forth. The outdoor kitchen can be closed off with screened doors when not being used, which helps with the flies. The no-see-ums and flies are no worse than anywhere else right on the water, but they will be there - just keep some Off handy if they get pushy.

The main bedroom was nicely sized, great closet and dresser, and nicely cooled by the A/C (which was in both bedrooms), but our bed was not good. A single coil spring matress on a slat platform. And it was well past it's expiration date, with plenty of dips and and squeaks. At $800 a night, I expect a really comfortable bed.

The 2nd bedroom was tiny, so tiny it had no dresser, and the closet was not in the bedroom, but out in the common hall area, which made things a bit awkward.

Bathrooms were acceptable, except for the shower set up. I promise you Motel 6 has better towels, soap and shower condiments. And what I don't understand is this is the cheapest thing to get right. Get a few refillable containers of body wash, shampoo and conditioner, invest in some fluffy towels, and this becomes a selling point instead of an embarrassment.

I mentioned the pool, and it is nice. Seems new... not huge, but very pleasant... same depth everywhere (I think about 5 feet). It is located towards the back of the property, so no water view from the pool, but we spent some very relaxing hours floating there.

I know it sounds like I'm breaking bad here, but we had a nice stay, Mary Beth found us a great driver to take us to dinner each night (Shout out to Clennell!). It's a solid 3 stars... but it's not elegant or luxurious, even at the top end. If the accomodations and the access to dining ever rose to the level of the view - watch out!
