Needs a lot of TLC

We had 10 beautiful days because Mother Nature was on our side. The resort needs a lot of repairs, but overall we enjoyed our stay. The food was very good at all the places we were aloud to go. Was disappointed we couldn't use all the amenities. At the price we paid it should of been permitted.
We really enjoyed speaking with the animators Sibely and Daniel, very friendly couple.

Kindness of Grand Oasis Tulum staff !

A Great Trip

The warm hospitality of the locals, the richness of the culture, the breathtaking landscapes, and the delicious food all made this experience truly unforgettable.

We had the chance to explore stunning sites — from paradise-like beaches to fascinating Mayan ruins and charming small towns. Everything was well organized, and we always felt safe and well taken care of.

This trip gave us unforgettable memories, and we highly recommend Mexico to anyone looking for a mix of adventure, relaxation, and cultural discovery.

Place: Beach like paradise, White Sand, several pools,
Food: several restaurants, plenty of choice, nice drinks and tasty food.
great staff and animation: kiddos club great organized and very kind staff , our daughter had a blastwith Brenda and Nancy.
You can move your body several times a day thanks to the differents activities proposed by the great and funny staff and the gym opens at 7:00 am.

A Wonderful Experience At Grand Oasis Tulum

My partner and I traveled from Canada and stayed at the Grand Oasis Tulum Riviera in early April 2025 and had an excellent experience. Overall I highly recommend this resort and will have more details below.

The resort itself is beautiful and well kept. The food was excellent, buffet had lots of options, and we especially enjoyed the A La Carte restaurants, specifically Serape the Mexican restaurant was fantastic.

All the staff were very friendly and the entertainment staff was especially fun. Daniel, Gustavo and the woman who's name I unfortunately can't remember did a great job running the daily activities and really enhanced our experience. There are activities running almost every hour of the day from morning yoga, to pool and beach games, to excellent evening events. We were very impressed by the quality of evening shows and events and the indoor performance area the resort had. We loved evening karaoke, the musical performances and magician that performed were all top notch! The resort also has many games such as a couple pool tables, table tennis, fooseball, darts, board games and more!

The beach is very nice and quite long so great to go for walks down. The Ocean has some rocky areas but there were plenty of more clear areas to enjoy. There's lots of seating and areas to find shade, and the resort does a great job keeping the beach clean. The many pools were also clean and lots of fun to enjoy.

There room we stayed in was lovely and great size, and the bed was clean and comfortable. The shower in the washroom was a bit old and the only thing I could say could use some work as the water pressure was all over the place and there were some cracks along the tub seems. But overall this was a very minor thing and it's clear the resort is being continuously improved.

Overall I recommend this resort!

Final trip before becoming a mom

I want to start this with I’ve been staying at all-inclusive resorts nearly every year since I was a teenager—almost 20 years—and unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience.

That said, I still had a great vacation overall, just not what I expected or hoped for on my last big trip before motherhood (27 weeks pregnant at the start of the trip)

This is a review of both this resort and our experience with Air Canada vacations(this is the first time we had an experience like this)

Travel & Arrival:
- Flew in from Newfoundland. It took us over 14 hours (with layovers) to get to Mexico.
- Paid $149 for trip insurance (interruption, cancellation, etc.)—it did not include medical or seat selection. Meanwhile, my cousin paid $99 for insurance that did include seat selection.
- Despite paying for our seats in advance, we were told at the Cancun airport we had to pay over 200 again. My fiancé’s last name was spelled wrong, and even though I flagged it multiple times before the trip, it still wasn’t fixed.

Check-In & Room Issues:
- At check-in, we were offered a paid upgrade ($79 USD per night). When we declined, we were given a room that was not clean.
- We were separated from the rest of our group and told no other rooms were available, even though there had just been availability minutes earlier.
- The room we were given had no usable window—just frosted glass that couldn’t open or be seen through. No patio, no balcony, not even a view.
- Meanwhile:
- My aunt was given a room with a hot tub on the deck.
- My cousin had a room with a walk-out balcony to the garden.
- My parents got a room with a French balcony.
- We however, got the worst of it—no balcony, no outdoor access, not even a window to look out of.(never mind it’s a fire hazard as we had no other way out of the room)
- It honestly felt like everyone was randomly assigned different tiers of rooms, and then we were told we could “upgrade” if we paid.
- Why should I have to pay extra just to have a basic window I can see out of?
- After two uncomfortable nights, we were finally moved on Day 3 to a better room—but that initial experience really soured the start of our trip.
- We also had to pay $11 USD per day if we wanted the mini-fridge in our room restocked—another surprising cost at an all-inclusive.
- My parents stayed in Building 3, where there was no working elevator. They had to carry luggage down 3 flights of stairs.
- Water outages occurred in 2 of the rooms in our group, at least once or twice a day for 20+ minutes.
- Wi-Fi was spotty, especially frustrating during Game 1 of the Battle of Ontario—everyone wanted to watch, but the signal kept cutting in and out.

Cleanliness & Maintenance:
- Initial room was dirty and not serviced even after we were told housekeeping would come.
- Bugs in drinks (Kahlúa-based ones especially), and lots of ants by the pool—I was bitten multiple times just sitting on a chair.
- Random power blackouts throughout the trip. Never long, but frequent and annoying.
- I slipped in the lobby (28 weeks pregnant now ) due to no wet floor signs. Thankfully, I caught myself on a chair and only hurt my knee.
- The pool itself was very clean, and that was appreciated.

Food & Drink:
- Food was mostly great! Special shoutout to the mashed potatoes and buffet burgers.
- One complaint: The butter was bland (clearly unsalted), and the bacon was tasteless and rubbery.
- The sports bar doesn't serve any alcohol or soda —only tea, coffee, muffins, and occasional snacks (pizza, sandwiches). Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
- This meant even the non-pregnant adults in our group couldn’t grab a beer and watch the game.
- Some staff seemed annoyed when I ordered non-alcoholic drinks due to my pregnancy.
- Dos Lunas restaurant staff were incredibly kind and helpful.
- The ladies in the coffee bar made sure our hockey games were on (with sound).

Customer Service & Communication:
- Hotel concierge asked if we had any issues, but when we explained our concerns, they were quickly dismissed with, “we’re busy.”
- The frustrating part is, the resort clearly wasn’t busy at all—we rarely saw more than 50 people a day around the entire property. The “we’re busy” excuse felt like a brush-off rather than a reality.
- We were misinformed about several things:
- Told everything closed at 11 (sports bar, coffee bar, and theatre stayed open later).
- Told no food available after 11—not true.
- Told coffee bar had no snacks—it did (pizza, pastries, sandwiches, etc.).
- One kind staff member the next day gave us all the info we’d been missing.
- My cousin’s fiancée tried multiple times to arrange birthday treats (chocolate strawberries and champagne)—finally got them on Day 5, after asking three times.

Entertainment & Activities:
- Nightly entertainment was mostly bands—only one show was different. (The illusionist - he was so good)
- There was no music by the swim-up bar, which made the pool area feel a little dull. Music was only played by the snack bar area.
- There were daily water fitness classes and a daily activity (usually a craft) around 4–5 p.m. These were genuinely fun and well done!
- That said, I really wished there had been more to do, especially since most excursions weren’t an option for me while pregnant.
- No poolside games or dancing like many other resorts offer.
- If you’re looking for a party or lots of daytime activities, this isn’t the resort for you. It’s a better fit for people who want to relax and wind down early.
- No beach vendors or shops (unlike other Mexican resorts I’ve stayed at), and no vendor night on property.
- Free shuttle to 5th Ave came with a long, pushy tour of a jewelry shop (135 mins!) and a short stop at a gift shop (15 mins).

Other Notes:
- Environmental Fee: 195 MXD (~$13.74 CAD) per room per day = ~$96 CAD total. Paid this even though we arrived late (6 p.m. first night) and left early (8 a.m. last day).
- Seaweed cleanup: Workers did a great job in the mornings, but it came back by lunchtime.
- Snack bar at the pool was not very clean. Salt was left out with no serving utensil, and people were using their hands.
- Cabs from the resort were $50 USD each way (allegedly)due to fees charged to enter the property. You can get them cheaper (~$30 USD) by walking to the end of the driveway.
- There was no Air Canada Vacations representative on this resort, when asked we were told they don’t come.(This is the first time I’ve ever experienced that) we could contact them via text (if we had a package), via what’s app( needed a code to active the app, and we did not have a package) or email. (I am glad we didn’t have an emergency).
- We also were told to keep in contact with them so they don’t forget about picking us up for the airport. We are use to them coming to us the second day and giving us information on pick up, restaurants, excursions, shopping, etc.

Final Thoughts:
Despite all the issues, I did have a good time—mostly because of the company I was with. It was not a bad vacation, and I definitely needed the break from work and life.

But I can confidently say I won’t be returning to this resort.

There just wasn’t enough to do, the service was inconsistent, and the communication was lacking. I’ll definitely return to Mexico—but not here.
