The Jerk Shack

  • Snack Bar

Believed to have originated with Jamaica's Arawak Indians, jerk cookery began as a preservation method. The Maroons of Jamaica, who once sought refuge in the island's Blue Mountains, eternalized the Arawak's ancient jerk technique by spicing or seasoning the meat, wrapping it in leaves, then placing it on hot rocks over a lattice of wood. This technique evolved with the use of different spices to the cooking style that we know today as Jerk. At the Jerk Shack, chefs apply the jerk cooking style using a marinade or paste that incorporates pimento (allspice) and scotch bonnet peppers.

Exquisite resort

Beaches is an absolutely beautifully kept resort! The grounds are immaculate - no bugs because some chickens and roosters eat them all! What a fantastic idea!
The restrictions were delicious- and we got everything we asked for and more! Although the Japanese restaurant was a lot loud - one chef screaming! Kind of annoying for the rest of us! But every other restaurant was amazing!
The rooms were always loaded with towels and daily maid service twice a day - and turn down service each night! With f tee sh towels yet again! The mini bar was serviced daily!
I would So very much recommend staying here - it was a true delight!

Not what we expected for a Sandals/Beaches destination ...

My wife and I stayed at the Sandals/Beaches Resort for the first time, expecting a luxury experience based on their marketing. However, our stay in the Caribbean Village was disappointing due to outdated accommodations in dire need of renovation. Issues included a leaking AC, poor bathroom drainage, worn fixtures, sparse power outlets, no USB ports, and thin walls that allowed noise from neighboring rooms. Maintenance was slow to respond, and the AC and drainage problems appeared to be longstanding.
Other guests in the Caribbean Village shared similar complaints, while those staying in the Italian, French, and Key West Villages reported better experiences.
Dining options were another letdown. Although Beaches advertises 23 restaurants, many “restaurants” were actually casual walk-up spots or picnic tables under a canopy near the beach. Most of the restaurants lacked AC, affecting comfort in the hot, humid climate. While a few restaurants (Sapodillas, Le Petit Chateau, Kimonos, Soy, Neptunes, and Schooners) offered good to very good food, only Sapodillas and Le Petit Chateau approached “gourmet” quality. Most other food was average or below.
The resort’s claim of “pouring only the best premium spirits” was overstated; while decent brands were available, top-shelf options were not, and wine quality was below average unless purchased separately.
Entertainment was enjoyable, family-friendly, and interactive, featuring shows like Family Feud, Grease performances, a Michael Jackson impersonator, karaoke, and YMCA. Staff were cheerful and helpful, with special mention of Seon and Ira at Turtles lounge.
The resort experienced several power outages which also affected water pressure. One outage in the French Village lasted 8 hours.
Environmental concerns included widespread use of plastic straws, which were found littered around the resort and in the ocean. We suggest signage to encourage responsible disposal.
Airport transfers varied: the arrival driver was silent, while the departure driver was friendly and engaging.
Overall, the experience did not meet the expectations set by Sandals/Beaches’ marketing, leaving us feeling we paid a premium for a subpar experience. We advise travelers to be skeptical of professional reviews, as many are based on complimentary stays and may not reflect reality.
Note that this is an AI version of a much longer review that had to be shortened to meet posting requirements.

It was okay

Just got back from a family trip to beaches Turks and Caicos. We spent a week there with 7 adults and 1 toddler. We have only ever done adults only all inclusive, so this was our first time doing a child friendly location.
Let’s start with the pros:
-The beach was absolutely beautiful. Super soft white sand and the bluest water!
-Lots of pools and the water park was fun even for us adults!
-Entertainment each night was good. Especially the Sesame Street shows and parade.
-We stayed in the Italian village and our room was nice! Bathroom wasn’t as luxurious as we’re used to, but still got the job done.
-had sooo much fun at kimonos restaurant for dinner. Our chef was amazing and so lively, we all sang along with him for dinner. It was a blast!

Now to the cons:
-Food was average. Service some nights was super slow.
-Most annoying thing was the timing of house keeping. They entered into the room twice while I was in there because I didn’t hear them knock and thank god I was fully clothed. They would show up while we were getting ready for dinner, like 5:30/6pm which is terrible timing.
-Biggest letdown for us was the staff- we have been to many all inclusive and have also bonded with the staff-making friends with them through out the week. Here there was maybe 2 people total that we really even cared for. Which is a real shame.
-A lot of the furniture outdoors anywhere was worn & dated. Which I get is going to happen with the tropical weather, but again comparing to other resorts we’ve visited, it just didn’t stack up. Especially for the price we paid.
-we also did the complimentary photo shoot, which was a bit of a let down. Photographer had us do some ridiculously corny poses, like lifting up our mom or standing with our backs to each other and arms crossed-cringey! To top it off it cost over $400 for 30 digital photos….like what???

Overall we did enjoy ourselves. But for the price we paid, I was expecting more luxury. We will not be returning for this reason.

Good but could have been better

Ill start by saying this was our 5th time at a Beaches resort, 4 of which was at this same resort. We traveled with a 2 and 6 year old. All in all, it was good.

POSITIVES
Lots of things for the kids to do
Pools were in great shape
Landscaping and grounds maintenance were solid
Ease of booking was nice
Transportation to and from the airport was seamless

NEGATIVES
They were doing construction on the room above us, banging away for hours during my 2 year old's nap on 2 separate occasions. Incredibly annoying
The quality of the food was subpar given what it used to be
Some staff seemed annoyed to help us, where others went above and beyond. Probably par for the customer service course
Our AC system leaked water all week, so we had to have towels down on the floor to soak up the condensation and had to change it multiple times a day
They ran out of lots of alcohol and mixers regularly
The rooms needed TLC (which was probably driving the construction)

So will we go back? Sure. But I used to think this place was heaven on earth. Now its just a nice place to go but on par with dozens of others

Sub-par

Water was absolutely beautiful. Accomdations less then desirable. French village was outdated, service was ok not the best, food was average. No room service or beach service at all. I think it would be fun if you were bringing a family but other than the beautiful water, I would pass on this resort. Very large and quality was less than ideal.

Check Out Beaches Turks & Caicos For A Wonderful Caribbean Vacation

We loved our vacation at Beaches Turks & Caicos in September. The restaurants, Bars, & Pools / Water park were fantastic & it was not crowded or as expensive since we were there in their off-season Their all inclusive option & no tipping policies are terrific & the fact that all of their land & water sports equipment & scuba/ snorkeling is included is a big $ saver as well. The staff was great & our 3 year old loved the nightly Sesame Street Shows as well as the other evening entertainment offered for free in their open air theater. We enjoyed our stay in the Caribbean Village but the French & Italian villages were very impressive as well. Highly recommended !

Disappointed

Very disappointed, very mediocre facility on excellent beach.
accommodation- we had booked one room with two twin beds(total booking 7 rooms) and one ADA, nothing matched the original booking and ultimately got ADA room but not the one with two beds.they will sell key west as the best property, nothing matched true. Beach facing rooms have far better views.
Concierge services- the biggest joke. Do not fall for this marketing trick. I would rate that staff 1/5.
Food seafood and Japanese restaurant best, taco hut good, all the other places were mediocre

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our stay at Beaches Turks & Caicos was nothing short of magical, and that’s entirely because of Fedeline. From the very beginning, she went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect—especially since we were traveling with our child.

Before our trip, she stayed in constant contact, checking in daily to make sure we had everything we needed. I was so worried about my son’s specific milk, but Fedeline took it upon herself to research whether it could be imported. That kind of compassion and dedication is truly rare.

When we arrived, our room was beautifully set up and ready for us. Throughout our stay, she continued to check in constantly to see how we were doing and how our son was adjusting. She even surprised us with special goodies that made our family feel so loved and cared for.

The most memorable moment was when she arranged for Elmo to tuck in our son one night, knowing he was having a hard time adjusting. That simple act of kindness meant the world to us.

There truly isn’t another staff member like Fedeline—her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine heart made our entire vacation stress-free and unforgettable. She is an absolute gem, and Beaches is so lucky to have her.

Beach Lovers Dream!

We just returned from Beaches Turks & Caicos. The trip started off rough — our first room in the Caribbean Village was very dated, beat up and right in a construction zone. After enduring that for half the trip we finally escalated the issue so that we were moved to the Seaside Village, which was grand in comparison.

Full credit goes to Dionne from the Loyalty Team, who completely turned things around for us. She listened, cared, and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Because of her, we’re now booked to return next year! Also, Sandra at the Excursions Desk helped us find the best snorkel trip ever with Caicos Dream Tours.

The beach is absolutely stunning — the most beautiful water we’ve ever seen. There were always plenty of chairs, lots of pools, fun slides, and a lazy river. Food at lunch (Arizona) was the best we’ve ever had at an all-inclusive, and dinner was good to very good. Drinks were quick service, though you need to ask for top-shelf and beer had few options. But we aren’t really drinkers and our daughter was more than thrilled with her mocktails.

A few notes: there were some mosquitos, even in the room, and the entertainment was just okay (great for younger kids). Overall, though, it was incredibly relaxing, and we’re looking forward to coming back.

Highly recommend Beaches Turks and Caicos in September

Just had our fourth trip to Beaches T&C and loved it again.
For those who like to scuba dive, the dive team was exceptional and the underwater sights were beautiful. Visibility underwater wasn't as clear as on some years, but we still saw beautiful corals, fish, sharks, turtle, rays and more.
September is a great time to go. We purchase trip insurance in case of weather problems, but the amount of children is limited by school being in session so there are no lines at any restaurants or activities. The food was excellent with plenty of variety. Our favorite restaurant was Le Petite Chateau followed closely by Sapodillas and Barefoot by the Sea. September also has the advantage of being Caribbean lobster season, so those are on more menus than typical. Although some of the higher-end dishes have been knocked down a notch (no caviar at Soy, Sky's Peruvian seafood rice didn't have any squid or baby octopus), what we ate was prepared excellently and the serving staff was friendly and professional.
The bartenders at the pool bars and restaurants did a great job of providing the drinks we ordered, and creating new concoctions for us to try as well. The grounds are always exquisite.
We enjoyed a couple evenings in Turtles Bar with live music, and a couple of the live shows on the main stage were entertaining.

Love Beaches T&C and will def be back!

Resort had everything from 20+ restaurants to entertainment and the most beautiful beach.
The water was like a pool, clear and we saw stingrays. Just a short walk down the beach and you're in the best snorkeling spot.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Mind you some people disagree but people, esp Americans, need to realize this is the Caribbean and they move at a slower pace. If you are friendly to them, say Good Morning, or Afternoon, you will be surprised at the response.
Food was pretty good for an all inclusive. Its not 5 star, but we were def satisfied and loved all the different options. Great place for picky kids.
We didn't experience the kids club but saw other kids having a blast.
Spa was amazing. Got a pedicure and it was the best I've had ever! My daughter got a manicure and its still there a week later (not gel).
It is a big resort so we ended up using the golf cart transfers to each village. Great perk.
The water activities included are amazing and really worth it. Try them all.
Highly recommend Beaches for families esp. We will be back!

The Perfect Family Vacation

We have visited this resort 7 times. We find it is a great mix of food, pools, water park, beach, reading, spa...all the things you would expect from an all inclusive beach resort. However, we are also able to walk down the beach for world class snorkeling. This year we had a great glass bottom boat ride where we got to see an 8 foot reef shark! The mix of nature and leisure is what keeps us coming back. When my kids were younger, the great kids camp was also a motivator. They have outgrown that, but I would highly recommend for families with kids.

Amazing Family Vacation!

4.5 stars. My husband, our three children (ages 7, 6, and 2), and my mom just returned from an amazing family vacation at Beaches! The resort truly offers something for everyone.

We loved being able to swim in the ocean, which we haven't been able to do at other all-inclusives we've visited Depsite red flags on most days, the ocean was calmer than what we experience in the Northeast.

Overall, we found the food to be good, better than some other all-inclusive resorts. Kimonos was such a fun dinner for all of us. We also loved the food trucks and froyo spot!

The service also exceeded our expectations. Despite some complaints I've seen about the staff, the majority were incredibly friendly and helpful. On multiple occasions, staff members noticed us looking confused and offered assistance, tips, and even walked us to our destinations. They were also exceptionally kind to our children, absolutely doting on our two-year-old.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Staff are constantly working on it. I was initially unsure about the resort's size, but it didn't feel too big at all. We stayed in the French Village, which was perfect for our family. The pool with shallow and ledge areas is ideal for young children. We spent most of our time in the central area between the French Village pool, the Italian Village shops, and the beach. I would definitely choose to stay in the French Village again.

Maybe because we traveled during the slow season, but we didn't encounter some of the issues I read in other reviews. We had no trouble finding chairs and experienced no waits at restaurants. The resort overall was clean, and we didn't see plates or cups left scattered around.

Another thing to note is that there is no room service or pool/beachside service. This didn't bother us, but it is a difference from other resorts we've visited.

Overall, we all LOVED our trip, from the resort's vibe to the beach and pools. It's a well-rounded resort, perfect for families! While we typically don't repeat vacation destinations, I would absolutely bring my family back!

Fun family vacation

We had a great time during our second stay at beaches turks and caicos. This was definitely low season for them as we never had problems finding chairs in the shade whether it be at the beach or the pool. Beach was mostly yellow or red flags while we were there but we enjoyed going out in the waves. We frequented the Italian and French pools. Service at the bar was usually prompt even though they were quite busy.

My son is 6 and we went to the sesame shows most nights. He loved the Halloween show. We did not use kids club as he wanted to hang with us but it always looked like the kids were having a great time.

Staff overall were friendly and helpful. Only issue we had was trying to get into soy after the sesame show was a 45 minute wait despite numerous open tables. We went at opening a few nights earlier and the place was filled so not sure if they were just short staffed that evening

Spreaking of food, we loved yoyo's and Jojo's. So fun for everyone getting froyo. The pizza at Dino's was fantastic. Bayside breakfast was always good. The only real disappointment was Reflections buffet for dinner our first night. We usually do a la carte for dinner but had spent extra time at the beach and didn't think our son could wait for a meal to be cooked. It was Asian themed food. I think if we had eaten it when it was first put out it had the potential to be good, but by the time we ate (around 7) it was quite dry and not very good.

Overall the stay was good, but the resort is starting to show some need of repairs in the common areas, specifically the Italian pool. Many places where tiles are chipped. Our room had a leaky faucet and duct taped sides of our coffee table and the table on the patio had also seen better days. For the price of this resort I feel like things like this should be addressed in a more timely manner.

Overall, we didn't let the hiccups get us down and booked another trip but not for a few years. Hopefully some updates will be made by then. The beach is enough to bring you back again and again. It is stunning.
